Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8 - Crash (Memory could not be "written")

I was using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.1 for the past half year. All of a sudden, it started to crash - Memory could not be "written".
During that period I heard quite a lot about Adobe's bugs, so I decided to install Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 hoping to see improvement over software stability and compatibility.
Of course I uninstalled the older verion, deleted the older file folders then did a clean-install of 8.0
Interesting enough, the first time I open up Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8, everything went normal. Without doing anything, I closed it then tryied to re-open it, the splash screen shows up then nothing happens - not a single error message.
Then I tried the following:
1. restarted PC. Tried the open-close-reopen squence, same thing happened.
2. uninstalled 8.0, deleted the folders, reinstalled 8.0. open-close-reopen, same thing happed.
2. uninstalled 8.0, deleted the folders, reinstalled 7.1. Open LiveCycle Designer 7.1 -> Crash (Memory could not be "written")
Findings:
1. the errors are consistent
2. it can open ONLY once, is this an activation issue? is there a corrupted file?

Well when I tried to open the sample project I got this error:
"Open project was cancelled or the application was unable to load database for "C:\PROGRAM FILES\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 8\RoboHTML\Samples\en_US\CCC\CCC.cpd""
I couldn't delete the CPD file because this client has locked down the computer to the point where I cannot do anything more than view the files in the program folder. Without having the ability to write to the program files folder is it possible this is an issue? Or is it ok that I do all the creating content in the RoboHelp Project on the C drive?
It allowed me to copy the Sample folder to the RoboHelp Project folder on the C drive. I deleted the CPD file then opened it without a problem.  I created a topic and added some content, but nothing happened. When RH8 crashed before there was no rhyme or reason and I cannot duplicate the error. Just seems very sponataneous.
I need to finish the style guide project today, but I will also play with the sample folder and see if (1) it happens again and (2) if I can figure out how to duplicate the error consistently. The first 2 times I had been in the new topic and wrote several paragraphs without saving it. Can't remember how long from topic creation to crash. And I can't remember if it crashed on trying to save or not, but I'm pretty sure I had not tried to save prior to the crash.

CJ

  • RoboHelp 8 Crashing - Memory Could Not Be Written

We have just installed RH8 and installed the 2 patches. Now I'm crashing with the following error:
The instruction at 0x6065627 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read.
We are not using RH Server or Source Control (at this time). This is install is only on our local laptops. It took a couple weeks to get IT to install the 2 patches and I was not crashing before the patches.
Does anyone know what is going on? I've lost 2 topics now. Is it possible one of the patches is causing this issue?

Does this also happen when you open Reader by itself?  If not, can you try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • The memory could not be written?

My Hard Drive crashed and my back up held most of my files and important documents. However I use Adobe Acrobat Reader all the time and I am having issues. The problemis that Adobe Reader freezes and gives this message (Windows 8.1; 1 TB of free space; 16GB RAM)
"The instruction at 0x578b6d71 referenced memory at 0x756e0b38. The Memory could not be written." The message appears and the Adobe Reader program closes.

OK This is going to be a simple fix for a technical expert like yourself.
    1.       I Reloaded Adobe Reader. I clicked on it and it stopped working and shut down with the same memory error messages.
    2.       I then clicked on the desktop icon to Run As Administrator and it works fine.
I am thinking this has something to do with the permissions within the program.
I went to the Adobe Reader 11.0 Directory
    ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES
    CREATOR OWNER
    SYSTEM
Administrators (SAM-HP\Administrators) (This is me,  where HP is the computer)
    Users (Sam-HP\Users)
    Trusted Installer
When I tried to give full control to CREATOR OWNER, access was denied
When I went to the directory AcroRd32.exe (Creator Owner was not listed)
    ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES
    SYSTEM
Administrators (SAM-HP\Administrators) (This is me,  where HP is the computer)
    Users (Sam-HP\Users)
    Trusted Installer
Maybe a sub directory is access that the user does not have full control over.
    Ideas???

  • Instruction at referenced memory could not be written

Adobe 9.1.0: When opening PDF documents, the second one opened invariably brings up this error message:
The instruction at "0x070024b7" referenced memory at "0x20000014". The memory could not be written.
I've uninstalled Adobe 9, and reinstalled it.   I've checked virtual memory size and it looks good.  I've tested the memory, and it looks good.
    Any thoughts?

I support about 75+ PCs with virtually identical configurations.    Some PCs have this problem (one in particular), others do not. But I took your advice and just installed the most current version of the Quadro FX 1300 video driver - from Dell's support website.  I actually think this was the same version as before, but a reinstall is not a bad thought.   Thanks for the tip.  I'll update the forum in a few days - by then I should know if this worked or not.

  • "the memory could not be written" in LV6.0.2

Hi, I wrote a terminal vi which calls several sub vi's. To communicate with my device, I open the interface to a DLL (written in Visual C++) and use read/write functions from this DLL afterwards, one after another. I do allocate memory for the read function properly (by first asking how many bytes I will receive and creating an input string of the correct size which I wire as an input buffer to the read function). The terminal vi runs correctly under LabVIEW 5.1.1, but crashes with a "the memory could not be written" error (the instruction at "0x008b5225" referenced memory at "0x03015950") under LabVIEW 6.0.2. This does not happen if I switch the highlight mode on in the sub vi that reads the data. The OS is Win2K. Please help
    . Thank you in advance!!!

    Gabs:
I don't know. Without seeing the source, it's hard to say what's
going on inside the code. I don't understand why you need to specify
the length of the string externally to the function in the first
    place.
Whether it is a char * array or whether it is an MFC style CString or
it is a BSTR there are functions available in C to return the string
    length.
If you are trying to dynamically allocate a char * array with a zero
number of elements and then do manipulations on it like copying to it
etc. you could easily cause the problem you are describing. If it
must know the length going into it then you will have to enforce the
order of execution to ensure that no errors happen or you will have to
rewrite the code so that it can figure out on it's own how long the
string is using a string manipulation function.
Another approach might be if the problem IS with dynamically
allocating a char *array or doing a GetBuffer on a CString to just
give it a fixed size that you know you will never exceed. These kinds
of fixes would require you to recompile the C code though.

  • RWRBE60.EXE - Application Error. The memory could not be written - URGENT !

    Hi,
We are getting the error "RWRBE60.EXE - Application Error. The memory could not be written" in two of the 5 machines. That too, this error is encountered only some times and not always.
Scenario: The report builder generates the .PDF file and places it in the network path. The report is called from the forms 6i. We are using the Report Builder - 6.0.8.20.1.
This error is encountered in only 2 machines but not always.
It's a critical release issue. Could any let us know the possible solution?
    Thanks,
    Uma

Thanks. We can not re-install the report builder now. How do I check whether memory is sufficient or not?

You do not need to start Firefox to disable the Java Quick Starter, you can do that via the Java Control Panel (Control Panel > Java > Advanced)

Completely removed and cleaned up Quicktime and tried a reinstall, and it does the same thing.
The install completes, but then Quicktime does not funciton.

You probably just have a old msi file from a previous QT installation that needs to be removed.
I'd remove QT again from the add\remove control panel. Then do a search of the computer and remove any left over files or folders that the uninstall didn't get, including QuickTime qts and QuickTimeVR qtx from C:\WINDOWS\system32.
Then run this program to remove any old QT installer information and give it another try.

i have FF 23.0.1, when i close the browser [Press the X on the top right] i get the error: "The instruction at ..... referenced memory at ...... The memory could not be written"
    I have windows XP.
The issue occurs only when closing the browser, does not happen when opening it.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • Explorer.exe application error "Memory could not be written" ?! OS seems stuck now

(Model # m6-k010dx) My new laptop after 13 months automatically updated from windows 8 to 8.1 after I had said 'no' as many times as it allowed. After the update my files are still on it and most things are there but it seems 'stuck' and the orange screen keeps flickering like start to desktop so fast you usually can't even click anything in time to open it before it switches. I was told that the drivers probably needed to be updated first (eventhough I am pretty sure I kept up with all my other updates that popped up the only one I postponed was 8.1) and that I should refresh it, so I lose my programs but keep my files. I'm so sad I now lost Photoshop cs6 and my prefered antivirus (webroot) But anyway back to 8.0, it functioned fine aside from annoying pop ups to install norton antivirus no thank you, i bought webroot again. no updates were available.
I went to HP.com drivers update, searched for my pc and its correct update, and next thing I know is it's installing windows 8.1....??!
So again when it's 'done' and reboots, the screens flicker forever. I shut down, restart, same. so I put it back to windows 8...it will install 8.1 on its own any day now.. Please help asap!!!
Also forgot to mention when the screens are flickering, a few explorer exe application errors pop up on occaision. IE: "the instruction at 0xaa0c663c referenced memory at 0xaa0c663c. The memory could not be written. Click ok to terminate the program." was one the last time,
and the time before it, the initial windows 8.1 update when I still had Webroot antivirus, the pop up said "the instruction at 0x9b63663c referenced memory at 0x9b63663c. The memory could not be written. Click ok to terminate the program." the other pop ups the initial time came from Webroot - IE: "This file is trying to install itself to start every time the computer turns on  C: /Windows/system32/DrvInst (dot) exe" and gives the options to block, allow once, or allow always.
Another trying to install every time computer starts is "C: /WINDOWS/system32/wbem/WMIADAP (dot) EXE"
and another is : "Process ID: 4244
    Thread ID: 3460
    Event Type: Registry
    Access: Write
    Registry Key: /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Services/NDIS/IfTypes/131
    Value: IfUsedNetLuidIndices"
I searched all of those but found nothing. How can I have a smooth update? THank you in advance

    Hi @ASAP666 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY m6-k010dx Sleekbook and trying to update to Windows 8.1. Before updating did you make sure your system was up to date with Windows. Here is something from Microsoft that might help.
Looking into this I have found that it is a driver issue usually associated with USB devices.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.
Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.
I recommend to do this update to disable your Anti Virus or Webroot temporarily to allow the update to go through.
Please let me know how this goes.
    Thanks.
