    Heyo,
I was hoping to find a forum Adobe LiveCycle Developer Toolbox or Sandbox, if this is the wrong forum for my question let me know.
I need to deploy some code to a server running LiveCycle. I've downloaded and installed the Developer Toolbox but Eclipse doesn't want to accept the version of JBOSS destributed with it as a valid server.

Can you check if Adobelifecycle designer's dll has been installed
properly in the system, . You should be able to see it installed in
    programs menu of windows.
Can you try to call LiveCycle Designer standalone?
    C:\program files\Adobe\Designer X.X\FormDesigner.exe
Just double click this exe file.
When it is started, it should be registered again (if it is not yet
    done).
Let me know if this helps.

  • What are the programming language used in adobe livecycle development?

    hi friends,
I am a fresher.I woundered what adobe has done in livecycle import option.so i want to know wht is the programming language used and how they read graphical fields like line, circle.

Programatically, Java is the language used to implement business logic that would plug into LiveCycle.  I believe you can use C# for older versions.  However, that information is irrelevant to your problem.
That being said, it's typically not advisable to be modifying PDF files generated by different applications (iText, Adobe LiveCycle, etc.).  While both documents may render out as "PDF", they will not be created internally in the same manner.  I would advise that it may be easy to add PDF files generated by other applications as attachments, they are not going to be easily handled unless you address each specific document in a custom manner.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES closes when I open it...

Hello all, I want to thank you beforehand for the help regarding this matter. I use Windows Vista and my Adobe LiveCycle Designer was working before but for the last week and a half or so I have not been able to get it to work! I have done scandisk/defrag/and have multiple software to keep my computer clean so I have taken those precautions beforehand. To the problem...:
My Adobe LiveCycle Designer opens up and it was working previously as mentioned, but when I try to open it by either opening or converting a form or creating a new form with a template, I am not able to as it gives me an error message and closes! It gives me an error message of "Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES has stopped working" and a screenshot of this is provided at the following link:
    http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/bc59d422150595157c212a5b181313244g.jpg
I don't know what to do and wanted to see if I could solve this problem before I was forced to try to manually reinstall it so hopefully I don't have to go through that. I appreciate the help once again!

    Shawn,
This may be a couple of known things; one is related to your specific installation (may have become corrupted if you did an upgrade from a previous version, especially if you upgraded from Beta?) Or, it may be related to a known SQL Server compatibility bug for which a hotfix will shortly be posted. (Problem with some Microsoft DLLs that get updated if you install SQL server).
If you have SQL Server installed, try looking on these forums for a patch that should be posted within the next 2 days. If not - please contact me directly, as I'd like to get someone on my development team to help look through your installation and see what the problem is, so we can fix this properly.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7

I am currently learning how to use Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0. My employer gave me the file to install a trial version along with pdf files with tutorials explaining how to use it. I am having trouble with the tutorials that involving scripting. Though I copy the script code directly from the pdf and follow the instructions. I have a hard time getting it to work correctly.
The one that I have had the most problem with is the tutorial entitled "Providing Interactive database lookup from forms."   It can found at this address: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/articles/lc_designer_db_lookup_tip.pdf#search=%22%22providing%20interactive%20database%20lookup%22%22 I followed the instructions to create a new data connection from the mdb file provided. There was a script to populate a drop down box that I was able to get to work after changing the syntax a bit. However the script that is on the button to execute the query I couldn't ever get to work.
Here are the instructions copied directly from the pdf.
    13. Select the Refresh object. In the Script Editor, choose the following:
    • Show: click
    • Language: FormCalc
    • Run At: Client
    14. In the Script editing area, type the following code:
    if (Len(Ltrim(Rtrim(SelectField.rawValue))) > 0) then
    $sourceSet.DataConnection.#command.query.commandType = “text”
    $sourceSet.DataConnection.#command.query.select.nodes.item(0).value = Concat(“Select * from OfficeSupplies Where ID = “, Ltrim(Rtrim(SelectField.rawValue)) ,””)
    //Reopen the Dataconnection
    $sourceSet.DataConnection.open()
    endif
Whenever I click the button I received the following error:
    http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/7250/errorbr6.png
Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?  Also does anyone know of where I can get good information about how to script these forms to integrate with SAP?  Thank you for your help.

    Hi Jason,
as you are using the Adobe stand-alone Designer and tutorials, you should direct your questions directly to Adobe (probably on their website) as the samples shipped with the stand-alone product do not necessarily work in the SAP environment.
For SAP integration, you need to install SAP NetWeaver AS(demo versions, for example, here in SDN on the download site) and use the versions of the Adobe components delivered by SAP. SAP also provides tutorials for the Interactive Forms integration in Web Dynpro.
Start looking at this topic on the SDN homepage at http://sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/interactiveforms where you will also find many links.
You can connect to SAP using the Adobe stand-alone products, too, but given Adobe's development partnership with SAP, this approach doesn't make much sense - and it is, as I stated above, a question for Adobe, not SAP.
    Kind regards,
    Markus Meisl

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer and send XML

    Dear all,
I have developped a PDF with Adobe LiveCycle Designer  that send an XML file to BW using a button Submit. But this PDF works when executed from the Adobe LiveCycle Designer software (tabpstrip PDF preview) but does not work when it is executed standalone (no logon asked.. )
Do you have some ideas to solve this problem ?
    Regards,
    Vince

    Hi Nitesh,
I have installed ADL standalone on my pc.
When I execute my PDF from ADL it works : I click on a button and a logon screen on a SAP system is shown (like access on web report), I fill it and the XML file is sent and shown through RSA3 transaction.
But when I launch the PDF alone, I get an error message when I clik on the same button : 'HTTP 401 - Unauthorized'.
Do you have another clue ?
    Regards,
    Vince

  • Flatten (Reduce Sixe of PDF + Making it Read Only) PDF files - Designed in Adobe Livecycle

We have created PDF forms using Adobe Livecycle Designer. The forms looks good after being designd and printed.
We wanted to Flattend the PDF file that was developed in Designer. We used a Process orchestration in Forms ES Process module to flat the files.
Some PDF file are getting flattend correctly as we see the Original document.
Some of the PDF gets Distorted as the fonts of some of the paragraghs and text on the PDF forms becomes biggers during thee flattening process and the Flattended PDF output is not as the Original form. Please suggest what is the solution or what is happening?
    Thanks,
    Siva.

    Thats my definition too.
Then my guess is that the font that is being used is not available on the server and as such a substitute font is being used which is different enough from the original to mess things up.

  • Read/write xml data from/to adobe livecycle forms (pdf)

    Hello,
I need some help reading xml data from pdfs created by Adobe LiveCycle and also writing xml data back to the form.
The forms have been created using PROD LC 8.2 and in the future they will be created using PROD LC 9.5.
I am using Visual Basic .NET to access the data programatically.
Can anyone help me with some hints? A library, SDK? Any information would be very helpful.
I am quite new with this Electronic Forms issue and I do not even know where to start.
    Thank you,
    Ionel

    Hi lonel,
Do you want an online solution?
I mean, it follows this workflow:
    1. The user will open the PDF by clicking a link, and a server-side program will generate the PDF and prepopulate it with data from some data sources, and render the PDF to the client (Browser),
    2. The user will fill the PDF.
    3. The user will click a Submit button and save the PDF and Data on the server.
    4. If the user wants to edit the Submitted Form, he will click a link to open the save PDF and possibly prepopulate some fields with data from other data sources, and complete the cycle of filling and saved the PDF and Data on the server.
    5. While the user is filling the PDF (inside a Browser), there might be a need to perform some lookup on the server, and update the form parts accordingly as a result of the lookup process.
For 1-4 above, I have developed a complete base library using ASP.NET which helps you to perform the above.
You can goto my Google Workspace and you will find a bunch of documents, sample PDFs, collections and VB Classes. To best view them, login using some Google Account.
For point 4 above, one way to perform this effect, is to regenerate the required XML Data (which has the saved data before and the new lookup data), remerge the entire XML result with and empty PDF Form, and render the XFA (PDF Form) back to the client. But, if the PDF has one or more signatures, it will not work. So, in this case, you can update the Form Fields of a Saved PDF Form with new Data from the server, but the net effect is that you will have to loose all the signatures that were added on the PDF before.
For 5 (above) there are 3 methods:
    1. Using a Web Service as a Data Connection. This is very easy if you have a traditional Web Service. I have used this method several times and will use it again if the need be. But, there is a problem. If the result of the Web Service is an Array of some Data, and you want to remerge the XFA to get the required effect after executing the web service ... and ... if there are some Drop-Down-List (DDL) fields, the bindings of the DDL Items of those fields will be lost. But, you can rebuild them (on enter event of the DDL Field)  if you have saved them in the embedded XML Data.
    2. You can update few (not many) fields while the PDF is opened (under the Browser via IFRAME) by passing the new field values using the URL Query String method. I have not done this, but I like this method, and I think it is cool. You need to write a server side code to ensure the the new filed values are passed back to the client using the correct URL with the Query String, and you need to write some javascript code inside the PDF to parse the URL and get the new field values and update them accordingly. See this as an example:
    http://www.halnesbitt.com/pages/pdfqs.php
    3. This method is very advanced and uses message communication ques between the Browser and the PDF (which is opened inside IFRAME element) using HostContainer object. This method will enable 2-way communication between the Browser and the PDF on the client side using javascript. I'd love to use this method one day. See example here:
    http://www.windjack.com/WindJack/Browser2PDF/brwsr2acroJS.htm
I hope this will be of help to you.
    Tarek.

I think you misunderstood me. I was not asking where to find it. I was remarking on its magnitude.
ADEP is essentially what would have been LiveCycle ES 3. Considering we
have 70+ forums for the current and previous versions of LiveCycle and
there are new components due to the integration of Day Software it isn't
    really all that much.
I just hope that dismantling the old LiveCycle forums is going to be
done a bit more aggressively because there are quite a few LC forums
that are already attracting more spam than posters.

  • Challenges with Adobe Designer Development

    Hi All
I am here for some high level administration information on Adobe
LiveCycle ES. In Our Organization, Output ES is used for Customer
Communication letter generation (Will generate at least 1000 page pdf
    every time).
I am not happy with Adobe from day one onwards. Though it is good tool
and has very good functionalities, Its very complex to develope for
    multiple developers.
Pls share your feedback on Output ES2
The production server frequently throws OutOfMemory error whenever DDX
    is used in generating Letters.
Few queries for my better understanding
    1) What is the maximum No. of objects(Process, Forms, XSD & etc.) a
application can hold(I have applications with only 25 Objects still it
    hangs).
    2) If particular Process is called regressively with different Input,
Is it better to keep it as Long-lived process to avoid memory
consumption and speedup the response time.
    3) If adobe process response is slow, what are all the parameters
which need to be checked in Appserver and DB level.
    4) Is there any alternate way to avoid process hitting Adobe server
every time, It should generate pdf in client machine itself.
Our Application server is in WAS with DB2 backend.
Kindly revert and show some light on Adobe Output ES.
I dont know whether I have furnished all what I want to convey, Pls
ask if more information required on it.
