  • Adobe Media Encoder and f4v files

I have a bunch of f4v files that were created by FMLE 3.2 that I'd like to convert to a more usable format, but when trying to open them in Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5, I get an error that says:
"The file <my file> could not be imported.  The source compression type is not supported."
These are f4v files straight from FMLE, with h264 video and aac audio, and they play fine in VLC.  This is all running on Mac OS 10.8.
What gives?  Can AME really not open f4v files from FMLE?

    Apparently not.

  • Adobe Media Encoder and .TS files

After updating the Adobe Media Encoder to the 2014.1 Release, every time I try to encode (convert) a .ts file I get audio issues post render no matter what I render out to.  It's only an issue when encoding (converting) .ts files.  I can convert an .mpg, .mov, etc. and it comes out fine.  Before this release I could render out .ts files just fine and had no issues.  Can someone help me understand what changed and why I can't convert .ts files anymore without getting distorted audio after converting?  The sound renders out as a reverb effect kind of like the audio was cut in space.
    All help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

Still not working for me.  Please help?  I use Adobe Media Encoder on a daily basis.

  • Unable to create thumbnail in Adobe Media Encoder in CS6

I would like to create a thumbnail image in Adobe Media Encoder for all my videos. In the help file it says this is achieved by adding the same watch folder twice and choosing one of the output formats at JPEG. I have done this however JPEG is not listed as a possible output. I only see F4V, FLV, H.264, H.264 (Legacy), MP3
What should I do to get JPEG to show up here.

Thanks for the answer, I tried this with the same result. Also tried it on another computer and also the same result.

  • Adobe Media Encoder and Macromedia Flash MX 2004

I already posted this question here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/777473?tstart=0
When I first posted I thought it had something to do with Premiere but now think it has something to do with the Adobe Media Encoder.
If you want to delete that message then feel free.
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and have recently installed Macromedia Flash MX 2004.
Now when I go to export to Flash I don't get the Adobe Premiere's Flash Export dialog box when I press "Options" from the Export Settings.  I get the Flash MX Professional 2004 "Flash Video (FLV) Exporter."  It doesn't allow me to change any of the parameters.
I then un-installed Macromedia Flash MX 2004 but still get the same "Flash Video (FLV) Exporter."
Any ideas on how to get the Premiere exporter back?
I uninstalled all macromedia programs, Dreamweaver, Extention Manger, and FreeHand.
I now I get this message when selecting Macromedia Flash Video from the export settings:
"Cannot find Flash Video export Module for QuickTime. Please install and retry."
So I un-installed and re-installed QuickTime and got the same message:
"Cannot find Flash Video export Module for QuickTime. Please install and retry."
No quite sure if the above message was talking about reinstalling QuickTime or Premiere, so I uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere again, agian and got this message:
"Cannot find Flash Video export Module for QuickTime. Please install and retry."

Well there is no answer to my question, but I did finally get the Adobe Media Encoder dialog box to come back again.
After uninstalling Premiere and QuickTime, then shutting down the computer, rebooting and logging on to the Admin account, shutting down again, rebooting again, logging in to the Admin account again ...
I then went in to the registry and removed all the Entries that had either of these in it:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DVA\COM
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DVA\FLASH
    and these as well
    C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTComponents\FLV.qtx
    C?\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTComponents\FLV.qtx
Rebooted the computer, logged back in to Admin.
I then re-installed QuickTime, and rebooted.
I then installed Premiere and the Adobe Media Encoder Flash dialog now shows up.
I'd be careful messy with the registry if you are trying to fix this type of problem.  Try uninstalling quicktime and premiere and do the above shutdown, reboot sequence a number of times before doing anything to the registry.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that Flash Website I've working on...

  • Adobe Media Encoder and Encore CS5 Vs. CS5.5

    Hii,
I have a Tennis project that has both DSLR 720P (60) footage and HDV footage 1080 (60i) footage. I have tried  making a Bluy-ray disc in Encore 5.0 and it looks good. I tried encoding Blu-ray H.264 footage from PP CS5 and Importing this footage into Encore CS5 in a Blu-ray project. Then Transcoding to DVD format. The resulting Jaggies/Saw Tooth lines of the Tennis court are terrible looking. Looks good in Blu-ray format. I have made DVDs from straight HDV footage and those come out looking great. It is something to do with the combining the different footages.
My questiuon is did Adobe redesign the Media encoder or Encore in version 5.5. If so I would upgrade just to fix this problem. If not is there any good external Transcoding program that I can try? I have tried just about every known setting/Encode type in Media Encoder but non do a good job.
    Thanks,
    John Gerard

I think part of the problem is mixing 720p60 with 1080i60 for DVD production. Different steps have to be taken to change HD to SD when encoding to DVD. See: http://www.bellunevideo.com/tutdetail.php?tutid=10

  • Adobe Media Encoder and Timecode

    Does Media Encoder retain timecode?
I'm doing 23.98 to 29.97 Quicktime trnascodes and the timecode always starts at 00:00:00 on the transcoded file.

AME can, but It depends on the exporter used.
Generally I've found the answer to be no.

  • Adobe Media Encoder and ImporterProcessServer

Windows 7 64-bit, AVCHD 1920x1080i MTS source video
Permiere -> Export Media and choose MPEG2-DVD, NTSC, 720x480 wide, 29.97 drop frame, upper, quality 5.0, VBR 2-pass, 7 Mbps
When job starts in AME, ImporterProcessServer starts to grow in memory, just like when I was editing in Premiere.  The memory usage was about 1 GB.
Once that's completed, AME enters "Encoding" phase, ImporterProcessServer memory usage immediately drops to about 100 MB and AME uses about 600 MB.  The encoding process becomes extremely slow.  1 hour vidoe used to take about 2 hours.  Now it shows 20 hours estimate.
    Am I missing some settings?
    Thanks!

    OK, I've found out myself.
I can't use Premiere to create the AME job.  I must open AME and add Premiere project sequence.
This might be a known problem but I have not seen it before.

  • Adobe Media Encoder (AME) CS6 Crashing on Start

    Hi there,
    I'm facing a disgusting problem..
I am not able to start AME in my Desktop (win 8). It was working good but suddenly it closed & crashed.... Now I can't start this application it crshed everytime.
tried all possible solution from adobe forum but failed.
    sloution please..
    thanks in advanced.

If clearing prefs doesn't work, you could also try uninstalling and reinstalling AME (this is done from the host application that installed it; Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
Also, do you get any error message before or after the crash?  Posting the error text or a screen shot may help us troubleshoot this.

  • Adobe Media Encoder and X264

Is it possible to encode using the x264 codec instead of the mainconcept codec?'
    greg

Are you using a PC or Mac? You can get x264 installed, but remember there are a few prerequisites and considerations:
It needs to be 64-bit (unless it's a Quicktime implementation, as Todd mentioned, but those are only available for Mac as far as I can tell).
It needs to be a VfW (Video for Windows) implementation; a command-line interface encoder isn't going to work.
You will probably need to encode audio separately, and mux externally if you want to use an MP4 (or other) container.
You can get a 64-bit VfW x264 encoder here; when installed, you need to select Microsoft AVI as the format (again, assuming you're talking about PC/Windows). This forces you to use an AVI container and uncompressed PCM audio, which is far from ideal. Also, it's a little weird trying to do multipass exports, which are automatic when you use any sort of 2-pass encoding from AME, but since x264 requires you to do one or more passes which write information into a stats file, you actually have to do the encode multiple times.
That all said--I couldn't get a decent export out of Premiere using this encoder. It looked FAR better than the Mainconcept encoder, but it jumped and stuttered and displayed other weird anamolies on playback. I might do some more testing, but I'm not holding out much hope.
Ultimately, you might be better off exporting an uncompressed or losslessly compressed intermediate (Lagarith, for example) and then using one of the many freely-available encoding tools that use x264 for H.264 encoding. I've used MeGUI in the past, with great results. It takes a little bit of squirreling around to get exactly what you need--for example, some knowledge of VirtualDub is required--but once you figure out the bells and whistles, it creates some amazing looking encodes. It definitely trumps the encoding available from AME, and I'm ready to go back to it from Sorenson Squeeze, which is big expensive crashy bloathog.
In the end, there are no hard-and-fast rules to encoding for the web; much experiementation is required. Good luck!

  • Using Adobe Media Encoder with After Effects and ExtendScript

    Hi,
I'm trying to automate the process of encoding a video using the Adobe Media Encoder. The project I'm working on includes allowing a user to upload a video and having that video then be encoded in different formats. I'm very new to After Effects and ExtendScript, but the two ways I see of doing this are:
    1) Use ExtendScript to fire the Adobe Media Encoder through After Effects, using the 'Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue' function. I'm not sure if this is possible or not.
    2) Bypass After Effects all together and use the 'watch folder' function in Adobe Media Encoder and upload the files directly to that folder.
I'd prefer to go route 1, if that's possible, but I'm not sure it is. I was thinking that I could write a script to work with Adobe Media Encoder to encode a given video, but from what I've read, ExtendScript isn't currently supported by Adobe Media Encoder? This is true? What would be the best way to go about accomplishing this?
    Thanks.

I think you will have a much easier time just using option 2. I have to ask, why do you want the files to go through After Effects anyway? If you are just taking a file and converting it to ## different formats...the watch folder setup in AME would be super easy to setup.
All you need to do is ensure the user submitted files end up in a certain directory -- make that folder your watch folder and create a second folder within that one called 'encoded' or something along those lines. That way as long as AME is online and watch folders are active....you won't have to do a thing.

  • Adobe media encoder crash

its not a show stopper but getting a crash in C++ (virtual function call?)

  • Why won't Adobe Media Encoder export WMV?

I am using Adobe CS6 Design Standard with Adobe Media Encoder, and I'm trying to export video files to WMV using the Encoder.  I'm am running Windows 8 and for some reason the option to export to WMV does not come up for me.  I only get four options of formats, while online it says I should have many more.  This is a full version of CS6 that I bought and paid for, and every program is up to date.

Can I just buy the converter plugins or do I have to buy premiere pro or after effects?

The formats and codecs available for export through Adobe Media Encoder differ depending on what Adobe applications you have installed. The vast majority depend on the video applications, After Effects or Premiere Pro, being installed.

  • Adobe Media Encoder pausing rendering while working in Premiere Pro

    Hello everyone,
So I am redering a video in Adobe Media Encoder and at the same time I am editing a new one in Premiere Pro.
I noticed that AME is constantly pausing the rendering and did not know why. It turns out that while I'm editing a video in Premiere Pro, I am constantly pressing the space bar to start/pause the video I'm editing. While I do that, AME keeps pausing/unpausing the rendering. Somehow, pressing the space bar in PP has an effect in AME.
I have no clue why it does that because the Premiere Pro window has the focus, not the AME one.
    Has anyone ever seen that?
I use Windows 8 and Adobe CC.

    Hi Rallymax,
Yes I do queue footage by having an Autowatch set up on the directories where the video is written to.  I rarely do a direct export unless testing new settings.
Don't take this as gospel but I too had a feeling that GPU acceleration didn't happen with AME, only direct export.  Not sure where that came from, I did watch some of the recent Adobe TV Web Seminar's about new features of CC products etc, so maybe on one of those?
I found this while trying to find out where I had seen it but it is from AMD site not Adobe so whether it's fully 100% correct I dunno:
    Adobe Media Encoder
The Adobe Media Encoder (AME), with support for OpenCL™ and GPU acceleration, automates the production of multiple encoded versions of source files, sequences, and compositions in Premiere Pro CC. With the GPU-accelerated AME and AMD graphics technology, editors can quickly encode projects and output files for virtually any destination. AMD GPUs handle the heavy lifting, freeing the system’s CPU to perform other functions.
I will try the same test as Jason, if I can find any AVHCD video and see what the results are.  Will be interesting.
