Adobe Media Encoder only using single core of CPU (core parking has already been disabled and did not solve the problem)

I only edit videos every few months and the last time I edited a video was around 6-9 months ago.  At that time, I noticed AME was only using a single core of the CPU and contacted Adobe who instructed me to disable core parking, which worked.  After disabling core parking AME used 100% of all 12 logical cores to process the video and all was good.  Then last week, I decided to edit another video and noticed AME was very slow and checked and it was again only using a single core to process the video, but core parking is still turned off.  By slow I mean that a 10 minute video with the lens distortion correction preset and one video transition effect is estimated to take nearly 3 hours to complete.  For comparison, the GoPro software processed the same clip with the same effects in 20 minutes.  Also, through troubleshooting with Adobe over the last few days, I have also tried downloading previous versions of the software but the prior versions have the same issue.
The video I'm trying to edit was shot on a GoPro Hero 4 Black with 1080p Wide at 60 frames per second.  The default video format for GoPro is .mp4.   The output settings I'm using when I export from Premiere Pro to AME are H.264 with the YouTube 1080p HD.
My system:
ASUSSabertooth X79
Intel core i7 4930k (6 physical cores, 12 logical cores)
16GB DDR3 Quad channel RAM
Samsung 830 SSD 128GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (not CUDA compatible, I know)
Please ask if you need any additional information to help solve this problem.

This has been driving me CRAZY... so going over the message boards from 2 to 5 am this morning I found the best explanation I have seen.   The problem is that Adobe Creative Cloud is NOT "Processor Group Aware".  Windows parses any more than 36 cores into "Processor Groups" and while the Pro version of Windows 7 & 8 can handle 256 threads they have to spread them across multiple processor groups.
Simple Version:  AREA | How many cores does 3ds Max support?
Microsoft's Explanation:  Processor Groups (Windows)
Clearly, this is an Adobe Problem... If any engineers are reading this PLEASE review the below and incorporate it into your next build of Creative Cloud!!!

    I cannot shut dow my MacBook Pro using the apple icon (as it was suppose to be), actually I have to press and hold the on/off buttom. I have taken twice for Mac dealer and they did not solve the problem. What must I do? I would to remark that I have installed 2 antivirus and uninstalled one of them. Since then I have facing this troublesome issue. Thanks

    Uninstall the other AV software. They are not needed. All they do is cause trouble like you are having now.
    If you have been forcing the Mac to shut down with the power switch you may nave corrupted your disk. You should repair it with disk Utilty to remove any corruption the shutdwons may have cased.

  • Premiere & Media Encoder only using all cores of only 1 CPU

    After following the recommendation of the Adobe White Paper on Premiere and Media Encoder I purchased a dual Xeon machine.  It has dual 2699 v3 processors each with 18 physical cores. Both Premiere and Media encoder will max out 36 cores (18 physical and 18 Virtual) but only on one CPU, the other CPU sits idle.  Everything I read is that Premiere and Media Encoder are multi-processor not just multi-core aware.  When I run Cinebench I get 100% across both processors (72 cores maxed out).  I do a ton of 6K Red work and I bought this machine to speed up my rendering times but so far I would have been better off with a single CPU machine as Premiere and Media Encoder seem to only run on CPU at a time.  Please HELP!!!!

    Hi Dmirtiyter, I suspect that you have a windows computer and seems you have a 32 bit system and that's the only reason you are not getting a download option for Premiere Pro as its a 64 bit Program.

    I know OSX 10.9 Mavericks introduced a power saving feature called App Nap which is meant to slow down applications that it determins are inactive (could also happen with minimized applications). This would mostly likely be the problem if your issue only happens in OSX 10.9... but if it happens in OSX 10.8 then it I'm puzzled.
    Did you check the Console for any error messages?
    Anyways, try disabling App Nap for AME first...
    Go to your Applications folder
    Expand the Adobe Media Encoder CC folder
    Right-click on "Adobe Media Encoder CC.app" and select Get Info
    Add a checkmark beside "Prevent App Nap"
    Restart the application
    You could also do the same for other Adobe applications.

  • I'm launching Adobe Media Encoder in Windows 7 to convert a mov to fla. Msg says it can not import

    I'm launching Adobe Media Encoder via Flash Import Video in CS5.5 in Windows 7. The message says "The file xxxx.mov could not be imported: Could not read from source. Please check the settings

    Same problem here, I just installed Win 7 64bit a few days ago, and a fresh install of Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium to default location and has all its updates.

  • Media Encoder only using 15% CPU, and system slows to cement

    Not sure what's going on, but trying to export from Premiere CS6 to Media Encoder and very basic 640x360 H264 4 minute clips are taking 40 minutes, only using 15-30% CPU (on 2011 Macbook Pro 2.3 core i7), and the system slows to a cement crawl (had to stop it just to type this post). Nothing else is using any CPU and RAM is 25% free.
    I don't even know where to begin to troubleshoot. Tried restarting is all so far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brandon

    It seems there is a problem with the Mercury Playback Engine on my MBP. I turned it off and switched to software only mode, and now CPU is screaming at 750% on export and estimated time is about 8 times faster

  • Neo2 FR Q6600 only using single core

    After finally getting my system running I noticed that my new q6600 was not giving me anywhere near the performance I expected.  It's a little bit fater than my old p4 3.6Ghz POS.  Windows device manager does show 4 different CPUs, but task manager only has one graph and none of my audio programs allow me to turn on multiple CPU support (they should with a multicore processor.)  I also notice that the BIOS (1.2) does not show me the Hyper Threading Option.  Also, I have set;
    (IO)APIC = Enabled
    MPS Table Version = 1.4
    there is NO APIC option in the bios, only (IO)APIC
    Where have I gone wrong?
    Running XP SP3
    EDIT: CPU-Z only show 1 core, 1 thread

    No, does not, it has "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface".  How would I enable ACPI Multiprocessor PC?  Will it require a re-install of XP?  I have now updated the BIOS to 1.6.
    Right click on ""Advanced Configuration and Power Interface", and select update then pickup manually "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" from the List.
    If its not listed or there is a troubles updating, you can try to force it via that way:
    1. Changing HAL require changes in corespond kernels too. Each HAL use different kernels.
    2. The HAL file along with corespond kernels need to match with exact XP version installed. Example:
    If the user is using SP2(most popular and recent), we must use HAL & kernels version for SP2 too.(else will not gonna work)
    So let's comment here again:
    "expand d:\i386\halmacpi.dl_ c:\windows\system32"
    If we use SP2, we need to use correct version of halmacpi.dll (in the string above its older version), we can get it from here:
    expand d:\i386\sp2.cab -F:halmacpi.dll c:\windows\system32  /* I assume that we have XP SP2 installation disk */
    or we can use other location, which will no need to have XP installation disk, XP is keep a copy of files locally, we can use this one instead too:
    expand c:\windows\driver cache\i386\sp2.cab -F:halmacpi.dll c:\windows\system32
    If we use SP3, we should use sp3 versions of halmacpi.dll,(and kernels which will be described below) e.g. in the string above we must replace sp2.cab with sp3.cab
    OK, think that part should be clear, the next stage updating the kernels for our chosen HAL, ofc. we will follow the rule 1 they to match with our version used.
    "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" is using those kernels: ntkrnlmp.exe, ntkrpamp.exe which must be renamed and overwritten to ===> ntoskrnl.exe, ntkrnlpa.exe in %systemroot%\system32 directory.
    /* MS$ is using the same names for kernels, but in reality they are different for each HAL... */
    So our complete scenario to successfully change(force "ACPI Multiprocessor PC") will look in that way:
    expand c:\windows\driver cache\i386\sp2.cab -F:halmacpi.dll c:\windows\system32
    expand c:\windows\driver cache\i386\sp2.cab -F:ntkrpamp.exe c:\windows\system32
    expand c:\windows\driver cache\i386\sp2.cab -F:ntkrnlmp.exe c:\windows\system32
    or better going to c:\windows\driver cache\i386\    folder 1st, to type lesser by:
    cd c:\windows\driver cache\i386
    and
    expand sp2.cab -F:halmacpi.dll c:\windows\system32
    expand sp2.cab -F:ntkrpamp.exe c:\windows\system32
    expand sp2.cab -F:ntkrnlmp.exe c:\windows\system32
    clearing the way for new HAL and kernels and making backup of current one in same time by:
    ren ntkrnlpa.exe ntkrnlpa.old
    ren ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.old
    ren hal.dll hal.old
    then naming new HAL file with kernels to expected by OS with:
    ren halmacpi.dll hal.dll
    ren ntkrpamp.exe ntkrnlpa.exe
    ren ntkrnlmp.exe ntoskrnl.exe
    reboot PC by:
    echo g=FFFF:0000|debug /* or just hit reset key...*/
    In short to be more clear what we have changed:
    To force "ACPI Multiprocessor PC", we need to overwrite:
    extract & rename & replace(overwrite) Halmacpi.dll to ---> %systemroot%\system32\hal.dll
    extract & rename & replace(overwrite) ntkrnlmp.exe to --> %systemroot%\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
    extract & rename & replace(overwrite) ntkrpamp.exe  to --> %systemroot%\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe
    Just we must be sure that source files will match with actual XP OS version, etc:
    If we use SP2, we must get source files(Halmacpi.dll, ntkrnlmp.exe, ntkrpamp.exe) from %windir%\driver cache\i386\sp2.cab,
    If we use SP3 we must get source files from %windir%\driver cache\i386\sp3.cab,
    If we use SP1 we must %windir%\driver cache\i386\driver.cab
    If we use XP without SP we must get the source files from %windir%\driver cache\i386\ /* they exist there but compressed, which can be done by same way with expand command)
    Then just to rename files and replace into %systemroot%\system32 folder as followed:
    Halmacpi.dll to ---> %systemroot%\system32\hal.dll
    ntkrnlmp.exe to --> %systemroot%\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
    ntkrpamp.exe  to --> %systemroot%\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe
    We can use XP installation disk recovery console, we can use some DOS version which NTFS mounted which have write ability to NTFS, or just second OS installed to replace files from there.
    Have used the procedure above xx times working every time without single issue
    "Will it require a re-install of XP?"
    As last resort yes.

  • Unwanted signals going through RS-232 port when Analog I/O channels are being used. Why and how to solve the problem?

    My application involves operating a pH meter via RS-232 protocol. Other hardware are operated using an E-series DAQ board whereby waveforms are software-generated and sent to the relevant hardware using an Analog Output channel. Data acquisition is performed utilising Analog Input channels of the DAQ card that have been configured in a Referenced Single-Ended mode. When the Analog I/O channels are active erroneous readings are observed on the pH meter if the RS-232 cable is connected between the pH meter and the control PC. No problem is observed if the RS-232 cable is disconnected. What could be the problem and any suggestions on how to solve this.

    Comments to your questions:
    Built-in = Originally supplied on the PC's motherboard
    1)I use built-in RS-232 interface
    2)I use built-in Bus type
    3)The RS-232 cable is shield connected
    4) I'm not sure on how to check if the RS-232's digital ground signal is connected. I simply connected the RS-232 cable from the pH meter to the serial port. The serial communication works fine, with no disturbance to the pH meter if i don't initiate data acquisition.

  • After installing VLC (64bit), my MBP only reads CDs and ejects DVDs. Uninstalling VLC did not fix the problem.  What do I do?

    I have recently installed VLC media player (64bit), played a movie file on a DVD+RW for 30 seconds, then decided to stop the movie.  I poped the DVD out, and a minute later I reinserted the same DVD, it was ejected after 10 second.  Now when ever I insert the DVD in my MBP it gets ejected.  It reads my CDs but does not read my DVD. Uninstalling VLC did not fix it.  I am not even sure at this if VLC caused the problem.  What do I do?

    Have you rebooted since uninstalling VLC?

  • Apparently Firefox 3.6.4 has already been downloaded and now it wants me to downoad Flash Player 's newest version which is: 10.1 but it's not downloading on it's own. They suggested that I remove previous Abode Flash Players which I have now is: 1) Adobe

    Earlier today Firefox was updated and downloaded. It is Firefox 3.6.4. But now it's asking that I download Adobe Flash Player 10.1. It wouldn't download on it's own, so they suggested that I remove the previous Flash Players which I only saw (2)two. The 1st one is: Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X. 2) Adobe Flash Player 10 Plug in. So, do I remove these two and then try to download Adobe Flash Player 10.1 again? Thank you and I sure hope you have an answer for me, because I don't know what to do. • V 17 & 18 use minimum of 30% cpu (even with all add-ons disable and safe mode) on MacBook 10.7

    I have been having problems since release 17 (at least) with Firefox sucking up CPU. I have 4GB ram and often have multiple programs open, including Firefox with between 5 and 15 tabs / windows. Decreasing the number of open tabs / windows will decrease CPU usage by 2% for each tab / window closed until it hits 30%, then no more improvement. Oddly enough it drops to a constant 25% when Firefox is NOT in safe mode and all my plugins are enabled. But not below.
    Help. I love firefox, but it is becoming more and more problematic.

    I found a suggestion on this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/912984?tstart=0
    that says to turn of the window restore feature in Lion. I turned it off and was able to install AIR and run the AIR application I use.
    You can turn off the window restore feature in System Preferences -> General
