Adobe Media Player doesn't download and save movies properly!

This program seriously sucks as for some reason, it won't let me save the rest of the movies from the Learn Dreamweaver CS4 channel, the Layers.TV channel and the MAX 2008 Design channel after downloading them.
Why can't they have a option on their respective individual video pages to download the files seperately to your hard drive rather than force you to download them using their rubbish so-called Media Player.
As Comic Book Guy would say "Worst.Media.Player.Ever!"

I agree totally. This is an appalling piece of junk. I just downloaded and installed it for my wife to use. She's fifty, interested in cooking, books, music and film. She's not narrow minded or a born again Christian but neither is she especially interested in "hot babes", "bikini models" and all the other objects of USA male adolescent wet dreams.
Nevertheless, to my exasperation, what shows up in the right hand pane at all times, even when one switches to favourites, is the Media Player's Quick Picks. As I write, 12.07 pm, AEST, Friday 16 Jan 09, at the top of the list are three recommendations by a witless wonder known as "guru". In order of recommendation these are: "Sexy Rock Bikini Housewives"; "Bikini Olympics 2008"; "Sexy Gods Girls Model - Swindle". The girls are your usual silicone filled bimbos, with their usual gormless expressions trying to look sexy. I mean please, it's just so damned boring, as much as tacky.
Despite entering my wife's interests (see above) into Adobe Media Manager, it makes no difference. The witless Guru's wonder girls continue to make their lacklustre appearance.
Good one, Adobe. You've really hit rock bottom here, haven't you?

  • What has happened to Adobe Media Player

There are probably better forums for this post however.  It appeats that no one is using or posting or answering in some of the more minor areas of the forum.  Where is the best place to get help on Adobe Media Player/Adobe TV.  I am simply trying to find a way to download and watch the training videos offline.  Any suggestions that work would be helpful.  It appears the media player is pulled.

The Adobe Media Player forum is here, and it should be the best way to obtain help on the use of the program:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/mediaplayer
If you cannot obtain help there, I am afraid you are out of luck. This particula forum is only for discussions on the forums themselves.

    Hi JavaIsLife,

  • I can't access most internet pages because I don't have adobe flash player for my powerbook and the download doesn't seem to work?

I can't access most internet pages because I don't have adobe flash player for my powerbook and the download doesn't seem to work?

The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to FP requireing an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I fould a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Adobe Media Player download stalled

I've been trying to download Adobe Media Player. I go through all of the password entering and let it install Adobe AIR as it said it needed that to support the player. The download window comes up saying it's "installing application" but the progress bar doesn't even start. Is there a way to download the installer and install the program manually? Has anyone else run into this problem?

I've got the exact same question!
Also, what is the latest version of Adobe Media Player? I have version 1.1? I saw a google result tht said version 1.7?
    What version do you have?
1.1 on my mac says it can't play any of Adobe's content. I've had it open all day and it hasn't notified me of any available updates. Using the help menu sends me to a 404 page on help.adobe.com
If I visit this page: http://www.adobe.com/products/mediaplayer/
and click "GET ADOBE MEDIA PLAYER" all it does is launch the version I already have instead of letting me download the file.

  • Flash Player update 10.3 unable to download and save flv files

    Hello,
Since the Flash Player update to 10.3.183.10 it is no longer possible for me to download and save *.flv files. A file of only 2320 kb is saved along with a meta file of 1 kb. The 2320 kb file has a flv extension but the file will not play in any of my media players. Files of mp4 type still download and play fine. The problem only occurred following the last upgrade and even though I uninstalled then reinstalled Adobe Flash Player I cannot overcome the problem. My PC runs MS Windows Vista Home Premium Version: 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002. Browser Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421.
Your assistance would be much appreciated.
    Dibloc

    Thank you.
The problem only occurs when downloading flv files from YouTube. For all video downloads I have been using RealPlayer and experience no problems when downloading flv files from sites other than YouTube.
Have been able to download these files now using the site http://www.savevid.com/
Perhaps YouTube are blocking the use of RealPlayer from downloading flv files?

  • Adobe Media Player downloads videos then deletes them??

I'd like to note that Adobe Media Player continues to maintain that video files are downloaded for offline viewing. However, the application then 'deletes' those files from the cache at some time in the future, usually an hour or so after downloading. This has nothing to do with viewing them. Even if you haven't not viewed them, they are deleted.
I downloaded 20 videos for offline viewing.  2 hours later the downloads which previously completed, were nowhere in the gui, nowhere on my file system.
I then re-downloaded the 20 videos of the Flex in a Week course. 2 hours later only 5 had been retained even though all 20 had previously downloaded to completion and were completely local. Where is the sense and why only delete '15' and then othertimes delete all?
What is the 'reasoning' behind deleting cached files a few hours after they have been downloaded for offline viewing.
Absoluted stupid idea. Does Adobe want to keep their servers streaming continuously everytime users realise they've 'lost' their local copies of the video files?

This is extremely frustrating, I have downloaded the videos numerous times and ran into the same problem. I hope someone from Adobe will provide a resolution to this problem soon.

  • I just updated my macbook pro and now every time i go to youtube it tells me I have to download the new version of adobe flash player so i do and it still wont let me play it ..

I just updated my macbook pro and now every time i go to youtube it tells me I have to download the new version of adobe flash player so i do and it still wont let me play it ..

Assuming Allan's advice is not correct, and you do run the installer, I think I've heard of that problem and it involves removing the old Flash plug-ins, then install the new version. I don't use it so I don't know what they are called, but will be the /Library/Internet Plug-ins folder.
You can go here and enable HTML5 in YouTube so you don't have to use Flash: http://www.youtube.com/html5
Most(?) of the content is HTML5, but you may run into videos where you still need Flash.

  • Media Player doesn't show new episodes and has horrible organization.

Yup, so i log on to adobe tv via web browser and browse the latest content and stuff with no problem. I add a program I'm currently watching(http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/top-10-littleknown-feat ures-in-photoshop-cs4/) to Media Player and it adds a previous in it's place everytime. Not to mention the fact that browsing the site is easier than rummaging through content in Media Player itself. In b4 "media player sucks".

I totally agree. For whatever reason, I can only add 1 video to my favorites and when I try to add another, It replaces the 1. So it looks like we only get 1 favorite! You can add multiple videos to the "recommended" area though, for whatever reason. The videos are disorganized from a workflow perspective and in my opinion some of the content is inappropriate for the category. In Adobe Media Player, click on the Fireworks logo for instance and within the Fireworks category is an Obama political endorsement by a teary-eyed photographer who in my opinion, appears to be overcome with adoration of her newly found leader.
Saturday Night Live Skit (equal time)
I think it's possible that the free tutorial videos are meant to be "teasers" for content we can sign up and pay for. For example on Lynda.com.

  • Adobe Media Player download address?

I want to have web visitors download Adobe Media Player to view my FLV files. What address should I use? When I search for it - I get my account. I don't want to give them access to my account. The other locations I get aren't Adobe. What url should I use?
    Thanks!

  • Downloading and installing move media player

I have been trying to install move media player from abc.com and cwtv.com but neither works for me. Sometimes it will get to the Installing... part and then stop there. Sometimes it will get to the Cleaning Up.... part and then stop there. And other times it will just say cannot install.
    I have a macbook: 2.16 GHx Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
I used to be able to watch shows on both until the other day. I did not change anything on my computer when this stopped working. I tried getting rid of all files from the previously downloaded move player. still didn't work.
I'm not sure what to do...

I searched for over 3 months for a solution to this problem and after i found it i had to create an account on here just so I could post a solution that worked for me.
First, one of the things that I discovered in my case was that if I looked in homedirectory/library/ i could not locate the "Internet Plug-Ins" folder. However if i looked in rootdirecotyr/library I was able to locate the folder. I copied this folder to my homedirectory/library folder. I then went to:
    http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/espn360/faq
to download the movemedia installer. After that I went to ABC.com and tried to watch one of their "Free Full Episodes" which prompted me to download an update to the plug in I had just installed. After downloading and installing the update I was finally done!!! I hope this helps I know how increadibly frustrating it feels!!
