Adobe Media Player download stalled

I've been trying to download Adobe Media Player. I go through all of the password entering and let it install Adobe AIR as it said it needed that to support the player. The download window comes up saying it's "installing application" but the progress bar doesn't even start. Is there a way to download the installer and install the program manually? Has anyone else run into this problem?

I've got the exact same question!
Also, what is the latest version of Adobe Media Player? I have version 1.1? I saw a google result tht said version 1.7?
What version do you have?
1.1 on my mac says it can't play any of Adobe's content. I've had it open all day and it hasn't notified me of any available updates. Using the help menu sends me to a 404 page on help.adobe.com
If I visit this page: http://www.adobe.com/products/mediaplayer/
and click "GET ADOBE MEDIA PLAYER" all it does is launch the version I already have instead of letting me download the file.

  • Adobe Media Player downloads videos then deletes them??

I'd like to note that Adobe Media Player continues to maintain that video files are downloaded for offline viewing. However, the application then 'deletes' those files from the cache at some time in the future, usually an hour or so after downloading. This has nothing to do with viewing them. Even if you haven't not viewed them, they are deleted.
I downloaded 20 videos for offline viewing.  2 hours later the downloads which previously completed, were nowhere in the gui, nowhere on my file system.
I then re-downloaded the 20 videos of the Flex in a Week course. 2 hours later only 5 had been retained even though all 20 had previously downloaded to completion and were completely local. Where is the sense and why only delete '15' and then othertimes delete all?
What is the 'reasoning' behind deleting cached files a few hours after they have been downloaded for offline viewing.
Absoluted stupid idea. Does Adobe want to keep their servers streaming continuously everytime users realise they've 'lost' their local copies of the video files?

This is extremely frustrating, I have downloaded the videos numerous times and ran into the same problem. I hope someone from Adobe will provide a resolution to this problem soon.

  • Adobe Media Player download address?

I want to have web visitors download Adobe Media Player to view my FLV files. What address should I use? When I search for it - I get my account. I don't want to give them access to my account. The other locations I get aren't Adobe. What url should I use?
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Media Player does not show day 5

On my computer, the Adobe Media Player does not show day 5. Shows days 1 through 4.
Also on Day 4, trying to view the video "Create States and How to bind them"
I get a "corrupt file" error when trying to watch using the Adobe Media Player...
Also will someone please give a clear statement how to do a download of the files so
we can watch them off line.  This still isn't clear to me.
I don't know what Craig is talking about below: How does that relate to downloading the
    files.
The new instructions and feed links are now live on the Flex in a Week video training home page:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/videotraining/
    Please try them out!

Thank you very much Craig for your help.
    For some reason that section on Flash Builder in a Week;
+ Want to view Flex in a Week videos in offline mode?
was not displaying on my browser page.   I re-installed java and it now seems to work all ok, and it along
with your advice addresses the issue.

  • Adobe Media Player bug, 2 years on.

I note on the Adobe Develop site for Flex tutorials, the company states:
Want to view Flex in a Week videos in offline mode? Follow these steps:
    Install Adobe Media Player.
Click the My Favorites menu at the top.
Click Add RSS Feed at the bottom.
Copy and paste this URL: http://sessions.adobe.com/FlexInAWeek/feed.xml
I complete the above steps, then download a selection of the videos to view offline.
I go have a coffee and come back.  The videos have disappeared.
I repeat the download process, after 30 minutes the videos disappear.
I repeat the download process, after 1 hour, all but two of the videos disappear. The last two disappear 30 minutes later.
I repeat the download process but this time do a copy of the cache folder in
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Media Player\Local Store\cache
When the application has deleted the files, I can open my copy of the cache folder and double click to watch the original flv.
I now realise that this problem has been reported since 2007 but Adobe continues to re-issue versions of this player with the same stupid behaviour and they do not comment on this behaviour. They also  continue to offer the player for viewing their published videos offline despite the fact that half way through viewing one video the next episodes may disappear in the interim?
    Why?
I now use a third party product to download and save the above videos for VIEWING OFFLINE as Adobe state. Howeve I cannot use the Adobe Media Player to view ANY of their own content, while this issue remains.

IMHO, Adobe Media Player is one app that nobody in adobe responds to and at the moment is pretty useless. Whenever I install my adobe apps, I just uncheck Adobe Media Player. It's as useful and a mosquito.

  • Adobe Media Player, discontinued?!

When I enter the players homepage at http://www.adobe.com/products/mediaplayer/ I see the following statement:
"Effective September 16, 2010, Adobe® Media Player software will no  longer be available for download from the Adobe TV website.  In  addition, as of November 25, 2010, Adobe Media Player will no longer be  available for download from Adobe.com.  Thank you to both our viewers  and our content partners for your support of this product."
Does anyone with insight have a comment on that message.

  • Adobe Media Player disappeared

    Hi
I have recently transferred my files to a new Windows XP computer and uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Air and Adobe Media Player. I recently also downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3. My computer shows that AMP is installed but when I click on it to play a file nothing happens. It does not open. Any ideas why I can launch it?

  • Codecs for Adobe Media Player

I have Adobe Media Player installed, and it works fine for Adobe Flash.
I got rid of Apple Quicktime some years back - it was a PITA. I now use the
VLC player for MOV files. but I'd also like to use AMP for MOV files. I've
seen a few sites that offer an MOV codec for AMP.
Does anyone have any feedback on this, and can anyone recommend a good
source for an MOV codec for the Adobe Media Player?
    Thanks -
    Ron Hirsch

  • How to tell Adobe Media Player NOT remember played videos?

Whenever I try to play videos, e.g. *.flv files. Adobe Media Player remember it.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Launch Adobe Media Player
    2. Click "My Favorites" on top menu.
    3. Click "My Personal Videos" tab.
Now, I have to remove them manually.
I checked the Options and the online help. No clue so far.
Any settings that I missing can do so?
Or any trick you know of?
    Please advise.
    Thank you very much!

  • What has happened to Adobe Media Player

There are probably better forums for this post however.  It appeats that no one is using or posting or answering in some of the more minor areas of the forum.  Where is the best place to get help on Adobe Media Player/Adobe TV.  I am simply trying to find a way to download and watch the training videos offline.  Any suggestions that work would be helpful.  It appears the media player is pulled.

The Adobe Media Player forum is here, and it should be the best way to obtain help on the use of the program:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/mediaplayer
If you cannot obtain help there, I am afraid you are out of luck. This particula forum is only for discussions on the forums themselves.

  • Malicious Softward in Adobe Flash Player Download??

On my PC I have Windows 7 and browse with the latest version of Firefox. Just about an hour ago I came to the Adobe website to reinstall Flash player because it continually crashes when I'm online. I've reinstalled it numerous times but today was different. Along with the Flash player I received a long list of bugs and malware, including a horror story called Astromenda, or something similar. Thanks to Malware Bytes I was able to remove 47 suspicious programs and eventually got control of my computer again. I am still in shock that a website maintained by Adobe could have such infections in its downloads. I am very reluctant to use anything else from this site and wish Flash worked properly in Firefox so that I wouldn't have to reinstall it every couple of months. Very disappointed in Adobe right now.

    Grumpt and Pat, me too.
Here is the URL that I was just directed to, which tried to include the astromenda install on my windows 7 pro w/ FireFox session with the new flash download.  I am doing a new system setup and was just trying to add the Flash Player. (correction: I was updating Flash Player 14). I was sent to here:
    http://www.download-update.org/pd/20/21/
I read and stopped / declined astromenda in-time, I think, hope.
Did I go through the wrong link? perhaps I hit an ad listed at the top of my google search "flash media player download?"
And now, when I go to
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    The webpage list error 413
    "Header Length too Large"
    What is going on?

JUST ABOUT EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH ADOBE MEDIA PLAYER (AMP) AND OTHER RELATED PRODUCTS!
    INSTALLATION ERRORS!
    UNINSTALL ERRORS!
SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY GONE AMUCK AND GOOFY WITH THIS OUTFIT.
IT IS JUST THE LOUSIEST AND SHABBIEST WAY THE ADOBE MAKES ITS SHAMEFULLY LOW QUALITY (SOFTWARE???) PRODUCTS.
MOST EVERYTHING, ALMOST NEVER WORK RIGHT.
JUST A TERRIBLE WASTE OF EVERYONE'S TIME AND EFFORTS.
ADOBE SEEMS TO HAVE BECOME JUST ANOTHER VENUE PUSHER FOR INTERNET SPAM AD-PUSHERS.
    SAD.
    VERY SAD.
I AM GOING TO DE-INSTALL EVERY DAMNED ADOBE SHABBY SOFTWARE PRODUCT.
    TOO MUCH HASSEL.
TOO MUCH WASTE OF EVERYONE'S TIME AND EFFORTS.
    ** NOTE **
FIND OTHER RELIABLE SOFTWARE FIRMS THAT HAVE DEVELOPED *.FLV FILE PLAYERS -- FOR THE TIME BEING -- UNTIL ALL *.FLV FILES HAVE BEEN CONVERTED TO *.MWV OR SOMETHING THAT WORKS FLAWLESSLY.
THE *.FLV FILES SHOULD BE BANNED FROM ALL OF THE INTERNET WEBSITES AS UNSTABLE AND SHABBY.
AND SAY GOODBYE TO ALL SHABBY, LOUSY, ROTTEN ADOBE PRODUCTS.
IT IS QUITE EVIDENT THAT LAZY, DEAF, DUMB, BLIND FOLKS (WITH PANTS AROUND THE ANKLES) AT THIS SHABBY OUTFIT ARE NOT GOING TO WORK HARD ENOUGH TO EVER PRODUCE QUALITY PRODUCTS.
SO, SAY GOODBYE TO IT AND ITS SHABBY PRODUCTS AND FIND ALTERNATE RELIABLE, QUALITY SOURCES THAT MEET OUR, THE CUSTOMERS, NEEDS.
IF YOU READ THIS OUTFIT'S GOOFY LICENSING TEXT, IT CLEARLY STATES THAT: ". . . IT DOES NOT WARRANTY THE OPERABILITY, OR MERCHANTABILITY, FOR ANY INTENDED PURPOSES . . .".
MEANING, EVEN THIS OUTFIT ITSELF DOESN'T BELIEVE IN THE QUALITY OR PERFORMANCE OF ITS OWN SHABBY PRODUCTS.
    IMAGINE THAT, FOLKS.
WHAT OTHER PROOF ANYONE NEEDS THAT THIS OUTFIT MAKES THINGS THAT YOU THINK WOULD WORK.
    WHAT A JOKE.
