Adobe media server 5 performance
Hello Adobe community.
One our prospect uses AdobeMediaServer. He has many F4V videos, broadcasted from his webiste (streming is actualy good). Now he wants to display his videos on mobile devices. So we want to use the capacity to convert on demand, with AdobeMediaServer , F4V video to video format wiich could be displayed on mobile device (ipad, iphone, android device ...)
So, according to you, does our server is enought powerful to use this feature. We have the following server :
PROC : Intel core i5 : 4 * 2,66
RAM : 8 go
HDD : 2 * 1 TO
Connection : 100 Mbps
We think we could have 10 connections in the same time and our videos are encoded like that :
DIM : 768 x 432
FREQ : 25 Ips or 29,97 Ips
Brandwith : 900 Kb/sec.
We need video be displayed quicly (2 or 3 seconds) and smoothly.
Thanks for reading our message and your help.

Integrate native WebRTC audio/video on all AIR platforms including Adobe Media Server
Hey everybody,
It is apparent that Adobe is very busy trying to keep up with improving and fixing video and audio bugs on all platforms. Thankfully, in the past month Adobe finally made a H264 video with Nellymoser audio stream work on Androids! That took a while to make that work. But even though that is working, AIR on Androids still cannot transmit H264 video. Also AIR on iOS cannot view live video, but instead video has to be wrapped inside a Apple HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) format which introduces way too much latency for live audio/video streaming. Also AIR cannot transmit AAC Audio, and echo cancellation with Nellymoser just doesnt make the cut.
Everybody is aware that Flash Player can only stream video/audio smoothly for 1 in 10 users. There is just way too much for Adobe to do to get audio/video to work again and to work for everybody on every device.
So because WebRTC has much more development effort going into it, and because it is being promoted as free source to try to make the proprietary licensing world to rethink H264 and AAC audio, perhaps Adobe should just focus their efforts on implementing the existing and mostly working WebRTC libraries into Adobe AIR.
Since these libraries are becoming so popular, Adobe could also integrate support for WebRTC into the Adobe Media Server for recording, peer-to-peer negotiation, and firewall hole punching.
See my feature request here to integrate native WebRTC audio/video on all platforms
https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3728399
So will you vote with me to get WebRTC into Adobe AIR and Adobe Media Server?
Adobe could essentially deprecate many existing features requests and bug fixes related to audio video and solve many problems with WebRTC such as:
Implement Opus Codec:

https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=selectBug&CFGRIDKEY=3331640

Fix Enhanced Microphone issues:
https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=selectBug&CFGRIDKEY=3711062
https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=selectBug&CFGRIDKEY=3521224
Add support to stream AAC HE-AAC v2 audio, allowing iOS to be an endpoint that can receive audio and video:
https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=selectBug&CFGRIDKEY=3694393
Add support to transmit H264 video from an Android:
https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=selectBug&CFGRIDKEY=3648262
Decreased video latency and more performance on Androids regardless of the 32-bit/64-bit ARM Intel processors
https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=selectBug&CFGRIDKEY=3648268
Improve video quality and bandwidth:
HEVC, H265, VP9No there has been no update nor comment from Adobe regarding adding support for WebRTC. According to this year's roadmap they are booked! So it appears that we will not be seeing WebRTC in the ActionScript platform this year unfortunately. Back in March I made some predictions as to what might be considered higher priority for Adobe to be working on. It appears that list is still being worked on by the Adobe AIR/Flash team. They still have not finished support for iOS 8, and they still have several months to get hardware accelerated video finished. And VideoTexture is still in beta and will probably be in beta until AIR version 19 I would guess. Then 64-bit AIR runtime will be completed 3rd quarter along with HTML5 improvments for the 4th quarter. It looks like Adobe is completely booked.

How do I use Adobe Media Server 5 on Amazon Web Services?
Adobe Media Server 5 on Amazon Web Services was suggested to my project manager as a way to deal with some of the video we have to host at work, but after signing up and poking around, I'm wondering: how do you actually use it? Is it something that requires the Media Server software, or is there a web interface through AWS? I follow the links, and they tell me it's already active for my account - but I still see no way to use it.
Thanks in advance for help on this seemingly remedial question!Hi,
Please have a look at the document and let me know if it helps you get started: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/adobemediaserver/amazonec2/adobemediaserve r_5.0_amazonec2.pdf

Questions on the capabilities of the Adobe media server and system requirements
Hello
We need to send multiple video streams on different computers and screens in our organization. To do this, we need a dedicated server with the following functionality:
- transmit up to ten (or even more) HD and FullHD streams simultaneously
- manage playlists in real time without relaunching stream every time after adding items to the playlist
- imposing of any text and video effects
- use a variety of sources: a folder with pictures for the slideshow, video and audio files, video capture devices, video streaming from other resources
Is Adobe media server suitable for our tasks?
What are the system requirements (I do not mean minimum requierements)?
If we buy adobe media server, will it be enough? Or we will have to buy additional software products to provide all the necessary functionality?
Thank you.1 and 2 is possible
3 is not
4 AMS is not an encoder and does not encode or create streams.You have to use other software for that.Adobe FMLE is for live streaming...Use third part software like manycam(a virtual webcam on your machine) to generate video sources out of slide shows. -
How to pass an image from the mobile application to the Adobe Media Server?
The image is taken as photo from the CameraUI in the Client Side(AIR Mobile Application) and saved as a .jpg file in the mobile. I passed the image byte array values from the client to the server. How to convert that byte array to a file in the Adobe Media server?
This is very similar to the problem here:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/655314
processByteArray = function(byteArrayAsPlainObject){
// byteArrayAsPlainObject is an object serialized from a ByteArray but without functions
// we need to get a ByteArray that we can call functions on
var usableByteArray = new ByteArray();
byteArrayAsPlainObject.position = 0; // make sure we start from the beginning
ByteArray.prototype.readBytes.call(byteArrayAsPlainObject, usableByteArray);
// now usableByteArray contains what was in the original argument, but we can actually use it on the server side -

Adobe Media Server failing to record video if switched from play to record midstream
The Adobe Media Server is failing to record video if switched from play to record midstream. It is an intermittent issue that happens randomly one out of every 30 attempts.
Flash Runtime: Flash Player ActiveX 11.7.700.169 or Flash Player ActiveX 11.4.402.287
Media Server: AMS5.0.1, also FMS4.5.5
(The problem happens on both FMS4.5.5 and AMS5.0.1)
The ActionScript is as follows:
netstreamRoger.publish("719_Client","play");
Then 1 second later:
netstreamRoger.publish("719_Client","record");
netstreamRoger is streaming out the video and audio data correctly, because there is another computer playing the stream 719_Client live. So the media server is forwarding the stream correctly when live. The bug is when you attempt to playback 719_Client.flv the file does not contain any video data. The file size is not zero, and the file is not corrupted, but the file size is smaller than it would be if it had saved the video in it.
How do I submit this bug to the Media Server team, and how can I workaround this issue?
Below is the log from the Media Server 5.0.1

Adobe Media Server Linux Download Broken
Greetings,
I am trying to download the Linux version of Flash Media Server.
The Windows download works, but, the Linux link does not work.
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=adobemediaserver
Any tips?That Still Gives 404 For PluginAPI Documentation... The Link I Put Above
To Reproduce I Goto Your Link.. And I Click On AMS 5.0.7 Developers Guide, That Gives This Page: Adobe Media Server 5.0.7 * Adobe Media Server 5.0.7 Developer’s Guide
Then From There I CLICK Plug-in API Reference And I Get The 404
Everything Else Works, ONLY The PluginAPI Docs...
Thanks

What version of Adobe Media Server would fit our needs?
Hello. We are considering doing HTTP video streaming on our intranet. We have approximately 500 employees and would want to be able to stream approximately 10 - 50 one-way connections at one time. What version of Adobe Media Server would you recommend to support this?
After reading more about streaming, we would probably want to support the progressive download method.But it can't create PDF files...

This is the only stream on the going thru the FMS box at that time. The video output from the TriCaster goes to a canopas box through BNC. Then in the back there's a firewire that plugs into the "streaming" laptop. That laptop is streaming out with Flash Encoder and hardwired into a router. That router is plugged into the internet provided at the hotel. The stream averages anywhere from 200-250 viewers/connections. We are delivering stream to viewers via RTMP/Flowplayer front-end for desktop users and using the HTTP streaming link for mobile users. Client is publishing stream at 350 kpbs via Adobe Live Media Encoder.
Does that help? -
How do I edit the permissions that Adobe Media Server creates directories with?
OS: CentOS 6.6 AWS-provided AMI found here
I'm using Adobe Media Server 5.0.7.
I have my application set up so that when a user records a video to the server, it goes into its own directory.
If this directory does not exist, it is created automatically by AMS. The problem is that this new directory is created with a permission level that prevents my other app from reading and accessing objects inside of it.
How can I tell AMS to create directories with a permissions level that I specify?I was reading up about nellymoser on Wikipedia (the most reliable source!) and it seems like Adobe has problems with the licensing for nellymoser. They apparently tried to release a standalone converter, but the licence agreement that was inherited with the codec didn't allow it.
So maybe it's just a rock in a hard place situation. Really too bad, if this is the case, that a company can own something but not be able to allow their customers to use it fully.
