Adobe Media Server Starter limits? disk quota exceeded

hi, I'm confused...
I'm running an Elemental encoder, publishing to
rtmp://10.151.170.22/livepkgr/livestream?adbe-live-event=liveevent&adbe-record-mode=record
(i've tried with and without the 'record' bit - I actually don't want/need to record).
AMS is on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit, AMS was installed from AdobeMediaServer_5_LS1_win64 with no serial number.
If i delete the stream files and 'reload this application', then the stream runs for a period, actually until it has ~120mbytes in the streams folder.
( << 10 minutes).
Then the livepkgr stops with logs of:

The documentation seems to indicate that Starter edition should be unlimited in time of streaming, just limited by number of cllients, as long as you are not protecting the streams, then limited to 30 minutes.
I have checked quoteas in Windows and they are disabled.
Can someone confirm that I should, in starter, be able to continually stream 24/7, and if so give some hint as to what I may have to change to do this?
At the end of the day, all i need to do here is simulate a customer environment for integration effort in players....

The HTTP (HDS and HLS) streaming and recording limit in Adobe Media Server 5 Starter is 10 min. You'll need to buy a serial key if you want to record/stream for longer. Also there are no limit on number of clients for HTTP.

* does it mean that only 7500 couple of 2 users can be connected ?
i'd like to know exactly what this limit stands for ??????????
me and some friends are making a real time chat with webcam and audio and we plan to buy adobe media server 5 extended even tough the price is expensive !!!!!!!!!! that's why we want to know to take this limit in consideration.

i can only find the AMG installer "installAmg.sh" in "AdobeMediaGateway_5_LS1_linux64.tar.gz" from the original AMS 5.0.1 starter download bundle.
i do not see the installer for AMG 5.0.3 anywhere in the AMS 5.0.3 linux update download.

Adobe Media Server 5 Needed Version Check

Hi,
I have a digital asset management system with a transcoding application. I will use a streaming server. I will have 10 users in the system and some long duration videos(320X240 resolution; 1-3 hours recordings). Sometimes a couple of users will stream the same video.
I would like to use Media Server Starter version but some elements in the spec list makes me to hesitate. As I am not familiar with streaming technology, I searched for them on the web but still I am undecided. Here are the limited features I wonder about,
HTTP streaming for Adobe Flash® Player compatible and Apple iOS devices 10 minutes;
IP multicast 10 minutes;
Multicast fusion for Flash Player compatible devices 10 minutes;
Application-level multicast 10 minutes;
NEW Protected HTTP Dynamic Streaming for Flash Player compatible devices 10 minutes;
Due to my needs, are these limitations important for me? If so, how are the needs affected?

1) Are you planning to stream to iOS (iPads/iPhones) devices? If yes this will make HTTP streaming your must have requirement
2) Are you planning to protect your content?
Multicast does not seem relevant in your case as your user load is too less.

How do I use Adobe Media Server 5 on Amazon Web Services?

Adobe Media Server 5 on Amazon Web Services was suggested to my project manager as a way to deal with some of the video we have to host at work, but after signing up and poking around, I'm wondering: how do you actually use it? Is it something that requires the Media Server software, or is there a web interface through AWS? I follow the links, and they tell me it's already active for my account - but I still see no way to use it.

How to pass an image from the mobile application to the Adobe Media Server?

The image is taken as photo from the CameraUI in the Client Side(AIR Mobile Application) and saved as a .jpg file in the mobile. I passed the image byte array values from the client to the server. How to convert that byte array to a file in the Adobe Media server?

thank you for your help but it did not work for me i installed the FMS on the default pass knowing iam using win 64 and i installed the FMS authentication add-in for this version it said installation complete and the server restarted
i used cmd to reach /conf i found the 2 files i used command
users add -u username -p password
to add the user
i tried to test and started FMLencoder v3.2 and it just started to stream and did not ask me for any username or password as you can see here

I develop all of my stuffs on my Mac machine and thought that I would be able to install Adobe Media Server as well. When I started installing it said that this OS is not supported. Can anyone please confirm that is it really not possible to install Adobe Media Flash server on Mac?

It's probably less to do with GPU. While the video size is fairly small you're actually asking for 60fps video. You're giving 1 second 2000kbit and want it compressed down to 60 quality (fair to poor, more importantly, expensive to compress). Compressing 60 frames that fast stresses your camera.
For each frame you're giving the video 33kb to display. Setting quality and bandwidth higher (say double that) for 60FPS might be necessary to reduce the systems need to compress.
Honestly I think you should simply reduce your framerate to something a bit more standard at the same other settings, such as 30fps or 24fps. But it depends on what the videos purpose is.
Lastly while FMS trial works fine on my Win7 install I'm pretty over-jacked on hardware. I also have cameras that internally encode themselves offloading that chore from the CPU. I can stream up to 1280x720 @ 60FPS but I need to crank up the bandwidth to about 12000 and keep quality above 70 or even I start seeing some serious bog, and my usage is ~1%. This just means my camera is innundated. I change it to 30fps/5000kbit 1280x720 70Q, it's smooth as glass.

Automating install of Adobe Media Server 5.0.1

I'm wondering if there's any way to automate the installation of it. I can, of course, open the wizard through a command line, but at that point, the user needs to be there to continue installation. Adobe Media Server pro 5 Scalabiltiy Requirements with respect to the number of clients connected

what are the hardware requirements mapped to the number of clients connected to a vritual server running on a Windows 2008 R2 Server? At what point should the scaling be done, what are the best practices? The encoding rate used is 360 Kbps.

Adobe Media Server and Multiple Storage Drives

We are running Adobe Media Server 5. We have had one disk location for all media files up until now, but we are outgrowing our storage and need to begin having multiple volumes.
We need a way to specify that some files live on another drive. We are at a college, and we want to have all of our nursing video on one volume by itself to free up disk space.
for example, we have always had everything in http:\\domain\vod\nursing or http:\\domain\vod\username. We need to move http:\\domain\vod\nursing to e:\webroot\vod\nursing, but have everything else continue to work. It's on the same server.
We have been on the phone for hours with Adobe support and have gotten nowhere.
We have tried adding a new application with the virtual directory set to e:\webroot\vod\nursing,
declaring variables in ams.ini, changing the httpd.conf file, etc. We have not had any luck.

Vhost configuration for Adobe Media Server running under linux.

Please help me with Vhost configuration for Adobe Media Server running under linux.
I was running a media sharing website for which I wanted to use Adobe Media Server.
To use, AMS, I disabled the already installed Apache server and installed AMS along with the built in Apache server. I could successfully install AMS and could login to AMS Admin Console through my IP number.
My existing website, www.mydomain.com is having its contents located at:
/home/mydomain/public_html
(Directory created under the old version of Apache not bundled with AMS)
Users will be uploading their videos, which will get transcoded and will be delivered to the website visitors in the existing scenario.
To use this website with AMS, this is what I did:
I created a folder for my domain, www.mydomain.com as below
/opt/adobe/ams/conf/_defaultRoot_/www.mydomain.com
Copied Application.xml and Vhost.xml from /opt/adobe/ams/conf/_defaultRoot_/ and pasted them in /opt/adobe/ams/conf/_defaultRoot_/www.mydomain.com
In the Application.xml file there are 2 entries:
<Alias name="mydomain.com"></Alias>
<AppsDir>${/home/mydomain/public_html}</AppsDir>
Please help me with further steps to be completed:
Do I need to create a separate VirtualHost entry in the Apache installed with AMS?
If yes, can I specify already existing document root for my website (/home/mydomain/public_html) or do I need to create a separate folder under webroot/Apache ?
If yes to point 2 above, then do I need to copy all the existing contents from /home/mydomain/public_html to the newly created folder ?
I hope, I can serve all my static contents like html pages and php and media like video/audio. In that case do I need create alias to my Media/Alias folder or AMS will automatically start streaming when a video/audio is requested ?
What other steps do i need to complete?
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.

Do I really need Adobe Media Server?

I am planning to set up a server on the Internet, with media files of different types. I just started investigating all the Media Servers out there. Much to my surprise (!!), I discovered that:
- Using Firefox, MP3 files are played directly by some built-in player
- Using MS Internet Explorer, MP3 files are played directly by MS Windows Media Player
Similarly for MP4 files.

IOW:I do not necessarily need any special software at the server side. This is as easy as serving some HTML files!
That (those 2 file types) should cover a wide percentage of my needs. My problem remains some huge WAV files which are going to be used for Voice Identification, Sound Analysis, etc. (Audition stuff) and *must* be of the highest quality possible.
Which begs the question:
In what environment do I need some sort of Media Server?

Adobe Media Server is a Video streaming server and the need would arise in the following scenarios:
++ You would like to stream (broadcast, multicast or live unicast) to a client machine on the same or different subnet.
++ You would like to host all your sample VOD's on the server for the clients to access them.

Playing video and the MP4 files on Firefox, Internet is on the client's end, but, the same files if are to be hosted at a common location (root) for all different clients to access them, its then a Media Server comes into picture.

How do I Host my Adobe Media server Online to friends and family?

I got hamachi for now but when i get on laptop it connects to the site but said it cant connect to the Network to watch videos i added.
When i installed the media server it did ask which ip to bind to and i chose hamachi as i want to test befor i put online but even when i did that i can only run my content on host pc and not client pc.   How do i change that and right now i am not able to portforward, Are there any work arounds for that?
I dont get the instructions for the Documentation for setting ip's and access,   Can anyone help me?
Almost forgot,   I am running Adobe Media server 5 but believe it is the Extended version, dont remember. Not sure if there are any differances between the two.

Your only option is to install the version they provide thru the link I provided. My only thought is to see if a search of the forums using the search option and the search terms "CS2 disk 2" yields any useful information... what I found might prove helpful. If not, try the search yourself for more possibilities. It appears you need to get all of the files into the same folder before installing. Here is a link to the discussion I found....
