Adobe Muse: Is it possible to create a Social Network type website using Muse?

Hey everyone,
So ive recently came up with what i believe to be a pretty nifty idea for a social network type website, but i was just wondering is it possible to create such a website using muse? Ive created a few websites with it but never integrated features such as profile pages for users, searching options and other common things found on a few of the more well known sites such as Facebook, Twitter and so on. I dont really want to say what my idea is for obvious reasons, but if anyone knows if you can create a social network style website using Adobe Muse that can incorporate these such features, Id love to know. and if so can you point me in the direction of how to go about it, or to some instructional videos or sites that will help me out. thank you so much everyone,

Hi Prabha Sharma,
I am afraid that at this stage this is not possible via Muse as that requires server side coding. You can start off creating a skeleton/template for your social networking site via Muse and then use that further with your own custom code. however, I will not recommend that you continue making your site with Muse as you will face issues in altering the muse generated code.

Sort of .... you can do the layout, but then you would have to let Dreamweaver take over for the technical stuff. First you would need to upgrade to the eCommerce plan in Business Catalyst to allow for web apps. If you are advanced in knowledge of Business Catalyst you could use Muse but would have to create the dynamic content that uses the web apps within the Business Catalyst administration. Then place those web apps into content holders and place the content holder within your Muse page.
So while technically I don't see a reason it couldn't be done with Muse and Business Catalyst it would take some extensive knowledge of how Business CAtalyst Works.

How to create a DVD in iDVD6 without menu (there are several options)
1. Easy. Drop your iMovie in the auto-play box in iDVD's Map View, then set your auto-play item (your movie) to loop continuously.
Disadvantage. The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
2. Still easy. If you don't want your (auto-play) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the drop-zone (text needs to be black as well).
Disadvantage. The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
3. Still quite easy but takes more time. Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage. One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software. Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn.
Disadvantage. you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
5. The "hard way". Post-production with myDVDedit (free-ware)
Tools necessary. myDVDedit ( www.mydvdedit.com )
• create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
• Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
• Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
• Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
• Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
• Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
• Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager.

I am facing issues in creating adhoc network in Windows 8.1. After searching in internet, I found that adhoc works with
netsh commands.
1. I have tried neths commands and able to get it work on windows 8.1,
but I want to do it through the WLAN APIs ie. WlanConnect ,
2. I am able to initiate the adhoc network(on Windows 8.1) by using WlanConnect API and other device are also able to connect to the Windows8.1 initiated adhoc network but the DHCP is not working.
-> clients are not able to get the IP address.
Is it possible to create the adhoc network and get it work with WLAN APIs (WlanConnect) instead of netsh commands...?

Did you mean to write a program to implement that creating adhoc via UI? This should be development issue.
But this is Windows 8.1 client forum and there is no professional on develop.

You cannot.
You would have to add it to the mail server ( if you have an IMAP account), then it will appear on the ipad.

Is it possible to create a custom display type in DIAdem, for example a speedometer type instrument?

As an example I have velocity data which shows a vehicle accelerating from rest to 60 km/h and then travelling at a constant speed. As opposed to displaying this data using a 2D axis system is it possible to create a new speedometer display type to display this information? Maybe this display type already exists but I have not come across it yet? I've been using DIAdem for a few days now. The current version I am using is 11.2. It has been suggested in the past that it was possible to display data using numeric displays etc but I can't seem to find the features in v11.2. Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm sorry for the [extremely] delayed reply - I have been out of the office (and out of the country) for two weeks with extremely limited email access. I've attached the files that I used to create the example you saw in the YouTube video embedded above. Please note that I threw this together pretty quickly for the video, and that it is not "commercial quality." Use this as a proof-of-concept upon which to elaborate to get started.
The parts are:
CAN Synchronization.tdv
This is the DIAdem VIEW Layout that contains the video, map, 2D axis, and embedded user dialog with ActiveX gauge control. Think of this as the "user interface" you see in the video.
Gauge.sud
This is the scriptable user dialog (SUD) box that is embedded in the VIEW Layout described above. It contains the ActiveX control which I have affectionately named "MyGauge."
DisplayCursorCommand.vbs
This is the short script that is designed to react to the event that fires when the cursor is playing in DIAdem VIEW. I have commented all 5-ish lines with their functionality.
In order to register the script so that it fires in reaction to the event when the cursor is playing, I chose to register it as a DIAdem UserCommand (Settings » Options » Extensions » User Commands) and then run the line of code:
View.Events.onCursorChange = "DisplayCursor"
You could do this elsewhere within some other script.

Is it possible to create a shortcut to a website which will cause firefox to open in fullscreen

I am wondering if it is possible to create a windows shortcut which will not only open a specific website in firefox but also cause firefox to open in fullscreen (F11), for that session only.
Can it be done?
Any help would be much appreciated.

long press your home screenand select "shortcut." IF you can do it then the "documents to go document" will be an option. some apps i have allow for such shortcuts (scanner radio favorite stations, etc) but most do not. if i had to guess, i will say no. but i don't have docs to go. i know pdf viewer doesn't do this. you can add folders, so maybe that would be an option? you'd still have to touch the phone at least twice though.

Is it possible to create Qt Widgets inside After Effects using the SDK?

Hi,
I would like to use Qt to create Dialogs and Widgets inside AfterEffects.
I started out with the Panelator example in the SDK. I can include QtGui into the project, but as soon as I create any object with QObject as a base-class After Effects crashes immediately with the following error: '[...] could not be loaded (48::46)'
When I try delay load QtCore.dll and QtGui.dll I can at least start the plugin and see, that the crash happens in the initializer of the QObject.

and my buildenvironment is x64
I was wondering if there is any kind of incompatibility of embedding Qt in After Effects (due to linker/compiler setting or defines or something like this).

Newspaper/News Type Site using Muse and BC

Trying to grasp the concept of how to achieve this is Muse and would greatly appreciate someones help. A potential client would like me to build a site for them. Easy right, but there is a catch. The sites content (that similar to a newspaper or general news site) will be updated daily and by the client and their team. I believe by using Business Catalyst I can achieve this but I need to know if it is too much for Muse and BC combined to handle. Definitely don't want to get in over my head.

the problem is that there are available very little information and instructions (= video tutorials) about Business Catalyst / Muse integration. We are working on online newspaper / magazine sector and we hope that Adobe will publish more video tutorials about above mentioned field (without Dreamweaver).

Creating a rollover effect type button using an image? (Captivate 7)

What I would like to do is create something so that when you hover or roll over a specific area, it shows an image (it will appear right under where your mouse pointer is). When you move your mouse away, the image goes away. And if you click on the image when it appears (since it will be right under your mouse), it takes you to another slide, or runs an advanced action.
If I use a rollover slidelet, I move the slidelet piece off-stage because I don't want to use that- I just keep the slidelet area and put there where I want it. I then set the image I want as not visible in output, and set it so that rolling over the slidelet area "shows" this image. The problem with this of course is that when you mouse off, the image is still there. Without creating a custom button with different states, is doing something like this possible?
To clarify a little more, I have an image of a menu created. The menu is a list of text items you can click, listed vertically, like:
-Learn to log in
-Learn to check your grades
-Learn to send a message
and so on.
I have an image of each line of text changed to a different color, with an arrow next to it. So, I want to set it so when you hover over "Learn to log in," it turns blue with an arrow next to it. This effect goes away when you move your mouse off. And when you click it, it takes you to a specific slide.
What is the best way to achieve this?

Ah I forgot about this. I used to do that, but I had some issues at some point with the order of the items. Some of them were linked to advanced actions, and depending on what layer was on top, it was not playing correctly with what was underneath. But this is working perfectly for what I need. Thank you!
