Adobe no longer working

I have had adobe reader on my computer for many years and have downloaded pdf files which are still in my documents folder. Now suddenly i cannot read them or download any new pdf files. I have microsoft XP and Adobe Reader X. The message that appears each time is
Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Can anyone help

Tried the steps at the thread at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/781884 in addition to suggestions provided at thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/772223 and neither worked for me with Adobe X.
I ended up downgrading to version 9 (uninstalling Adobe X and Adobe Air first) and things are back to normal.

I built a new pop-up menu for my website using Spry in Adobe Dreamweaver. Because of some differences in .HTML and .XHTML
it took me days to get it right. I tested every variation in Firefox until it worked perfectly. Today, I installed the newest version of Firefox and now the pop-up no longer works. I changed the preferences in Firefox to disable to pop-up blocker and it STILL DOESN'T WORK...although an older style of pop-up menu (menu machine) which is no longer supported by Adobe, DOES WORK.
HELP!!! THIS IS IMPORTANT.

OP is using CS3 and the menu blog is talking about the menus
in earlier
versions of FW, so *most* of the points made in the blog
don't apply.
That's not to say that using CS3 pop-up menus is a *good*
thing....

The first thing I would try is to update Acrobat 9 to the latest version 9.5.5
The next thing would be to run Acrobat 9 in Windows 7 or Vista or XP Compatibility Mode.

All Adobe plug-ins no longer work or install under FF 3.6.6

As soon as I upgraded, Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash stopped working, with a message saying I needed a newer version. When I tried to install those, however, I get an error message saying additional plug-ins are needed to continue. When I click to load those, I get a message saying it can't be done because some file is missing, so try a manual install. Which, of course, also doesn't work. Because of my work-related use of the Internet, the PDF reader, in particular, is a necessity. So what's wrong here and how is it fixed?

This is a long shot but have you checked your iLok? Are the licences still on it? Has it been pulled out of the usb slot or bumped?
I've occasionally had trouble with mine suddenly deciding not to work.
I had to reload the licences from the iLok site and the problem was fixed.
On the same subject: have you plugin licences expired for some reason?
These, as I said, are longshots, but a malfunction iLok could cause what you're describing.
Another possibility have you started running either OS X or Logic in 64 bit? If so, plugsound might not be compatible.
Hope that you fix the problem.

The Adobe email on my Elements 11 no longer works.

The Adobe email service on my Photoshop Elements 11 no longer works. I have had people tell me they are not getting my photos so I tested it by sending to two different email accounts I have. Nothing received. I checked the History tab in the Photoshop Elements Organizer and it lists the email with attachments as having been sent. This is a handy feature that I really want back. I upgraded from 10 to 11 about 8 months ago and will not be upgrading again if I can't get this feature to work again!
I have Windows 8.1 and use Windows Live email as my default. Since I am using Adobe's email service does my default email service have anything to do with the problem?
I do appreciate any assistance I can get.

Hi,
I solved my Adobe email service by changing my email address to another account and got a new verification code. I still do not understand why my other email account stopped working? Anyway I am back in business, at least for the time being!

Problem ocurred on Windows XP, Acrobat 9 Standard. Believe error was 138:4 - licensing error
Solution using Windows XP, Administrative tools under Control Panel
Control Panel – Select
Administrative Tools – Double Click
Services – Double Click
FLEXnet Licensing Service (Right click and select Properties)
General Tab: Startup Type – change “Disabled” -> “Automatic” Press Apply.
Recovery Tab: 1st, 2nd, and Subsequent Failures – change “Take No Action” -> “Restart the Service” Press Apply
General Tab: Service Status – press “Start Button” Press Apply
Services window – check FLEXnet Licensing status = “Started”
Verify fix by starting Adobe Acrobat 9 (rebooting not required).

Adobe Acrobat no longer works on my Apple 10.5.8 after upgrading latest patch?

After my Apple 10.5.8 OS automatically downloaded the latest Adobe Acrobat the other day, (after I ok'd it), it no longer works at all, can't open any pdf's at all. It says the following:
The currently selected language resources are not supported by the current version of Adobe Acrobat. Please reselect the language in the International System Preferences panel. I have been to this panel and nothing is working???

Just upgraded to Firefox 10. Google Finance charts no longer work. They do work in IE. Updated Adobe Flash player to latest. IE works. Firefox 10 doesn't.

Just upgraded to Firefox 10 on a Window7 64 bit PC. Google Finance charts no longer work. Checked the web for similar. Updated to latest compatible Adobe Flash player 32 bit as suggested. Flash player works. I can see finance charts in IE, but not Firefox 10. I can see finance charts on Yahoo in Firefox, but not Google finance charts. Main chart at google.com/finance is displayed. Individual stock charts don't.

In (the) student (version) of Premiere Pro CC via the (Creative Cloud) app. on (It) installed, but every time (I try to launch) the program, to Adobe Premiere Pro CC no longer works. Other apps do work.

Facebook videos are still working for me in the Facebook App (using iOS 7.0.6).
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost.

Message "Adobe Photoshop is no longer working"

Is anyone else having this problem? I click on the icon for photoshop and the program opens, then a message pops up saying "Adobe Photoshop is no longer working. Windows does not have a solution yet. Please close the window." What do I do with this? Do I need to try and re-install adobe photoshop? This will be the second time there was a problem with it and I had to re[install it. Someone tell me what is the issue. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. Thanks Sooci7777

Was Photoshop working before this? Was there an incident that happened post which Photoshop failed to open?

Adobe master slides and slide labels no longer working

Hi. I am creating a file and noticed that the slide labels are no longer working. The label box under the proprties panel is blank and most slides are numbered. Some slides are still named (because it was working previously) but when I select a slide, the label stays blank and I am not able to change it. This occurs when I open up older versions of the file that were saved when this was working. In addition, my master slides are not showing up in the drop down menu - only "dummy master slide is showing"
I tried to create a new project and copy and paste the slides in, but this also did not solve the problem. I did this for slides that were already named as well, but the label box is sitll blank. I also tried to create a new file (without copying and pasting material from the file) but I am unable to label slides even if I create a brand new project.
I also updated all the software.
Below is a screen shot. As you can see the slide that is selected is labeled in the filmstrip, but the label is not appearinig in the proprties window. I am now not sure what to try as I have tried everything else that was presented in previous discusssions. Can anybody provide me with some help?

Hi Rod, thank you for your help. I tried this and re-opened the file, but I am still having the same issue. Do you have any other suggestions?
Just so you know what I did:
I closed captivate, went to my prefernes folder in users/username/library/preferenes/adobe captivate 5.5 and I deleted that file.

Adobe CS3 Web Premium no longer works after upgrade to OS X Lion

After upgrading my OS to Lion, Fireworks from Adobe CS3 Web Premium has been rendered useless. The color picker no longer works at all, and the program generally crashes within 30-60 seconds of being opened.

I've been banging my head against a wall on this one, trying to figure out what to do.
The 2 solutions I have are: (1) reformat drive and re-install SL or (2) upgrade to CS5.5. Reverting back to SL is going to be a time consuming task considering format, itunes backup, data backup and reinstall everything and I'm not ready to upgrade CS 3 to 5.5 for around a $1000....
I needed to get back up and running quickly, so I purchasd a couple colorpickers from the app store for a couple dollars. This at least gets me back up and running again. They work well. Not a perfect solution but considering the alternatives, the best fix I have right now.
For everyone else that hasn't upgraded to Lion, yet. Carefully consider the software compatibility before upgrading to Lion. If you do media, web or application development, it may break your color pickers or more... check Adobe's or your software developer's site for Lion compatibility for the software you use.
