Adobe Offers Photoshop CS4 at Significant Savings to PSE Users

Adobe has emailed a formidably tempting offer of PSCS-4 to registered users of PSE #s 4,5,6,7, and 8. This offer is directly from the Email, or by calling Adobe's sales number.
So, I bought a copy today.
However, the sales associate I spoke with created more questions than she answered. Well, that's not fair, it was probably closer to 50/50.
The Email stated that I needed to have my serial number ready for the operator.
Then I was told that I would have to use the PSE's serial number to install PSCS-4.....??? And that the copy of PSE would stop working....? I'm sort of thinking, good luck with that on a non-activated product.
Then I was told I would probably want to surrender my copy of PSE-7 (via serial number), when my copy of PSE-5 was actually the one that Adobe has on file...!  I've never heard of an Adobe upgrade path, (or version), that goes from PSE to PS. The sales receipt states the what they will ship is a "Universal English Windows Version".
To be fair, the sales associate had to ask if a dual boot system counted as 2 activations. Hey, I can ask my own trick questions.
Then, for some inexplicable reason, I was charged sales tax, despite the fact, (to the best of my knowledge) Adobe does not have a brick and mortar operation in my home state of Pennsylvania.
Does anybody have any insight as to what's actually going on....?

If any of this is true they must have created a special PS version just for this offer, which seems highly unlikely.
Well Barbara, you get the correct answer button on that one. However, I think a lucky guess and a not quite correct response should only qualify for, oh say, 7 or 8 points. (Just joking, of course).
Actually, the box was marked "PSSP,CS4,UPSL UE,001,DV, FROM PS ELEM". So, technically speaking this was a special edition (.) (!) or (?) (You choose the punction).
However, you don't need the elements serial to make the install, nor does it disable any existing installation of PSE. In fact in PSE-7 it installs itself automatically in the edit button menu, so you can go directly from the organizer to PS.
What all of this does bring to light, is that Adobe needs to prep their sales staff a good deal more if they're going to run a special promotion such as this one.

  • Adobe Pixelbender / Photoshop CS4 graphics / memory problems

I have been using my 4 year old MacBook Pro for rendering images (using the GPU) with a special pixelbenderscript and stitching these images together with photoshop CS4.
With mybrand new MacBook Pro, suddenly I get erratic behaviour when rendering the images, the whole screen gets covered with a mix of the image and parts of the desktop/application.
The next problem is the stiching of the images in PS CS4, where I get a "out of RAM" message where my old MacBook Pro did the work just fine (and I have 4GB RAM now, before only 3).
Is this a known issue? Any solution?
    Regards

Go to this site and download the 9.9 driver set. The 9.5 driver set had a streaming problem that had to be fixed with a hotfix. I have the 4870 also and the 9.9 drivers are stable and have no issues with PS CS4 on vista 64 bit.
    http://www.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDHomePage.aspx
Sometimes it is better not to change drivers if you don't have issues. But the 9.5 set has issues.
Make sure you un-install the old drivers. When you click on the Icon and start the install it will unpack as normal but you will come upon a screen to install or uninstall. Choose uninstall to remove the old driver package. Reboot. Then click on the icon again, it will unpack and you will get the screen again so choose install. Reboot after install.
If I remember correctly the 9.5 drivers, after install, did not show the reboot screen. You still have to reboot.

  • Photoshop CS4 extended upgrade problems.....Help!

I am using Photoshop CS3 (registered and activated) on my old computer.
I built a new computer and want to install CS4 extended on it. I purchased a Photoshop CS4 Extended update from Amazon for $342.99. During installation of CS4 on my new computer I entered the serial number. The next page that pops up is Upgrade Check that asks: 1) Select product that you already own: The only choice is Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended and 2) it asks for the serial number. I am upgrading from Photoshop CS3, not the extended version, so it will not accept my serial number. Photoshop is installed on a trial basis right now.
I tried installing Photoshop CS3 on the new computer but that did not help and CS3 did not recognize the CS2 installation disk that I put in the CD drive to prove that I was allowed to install a CS3 uprade.
The new computer I am trying to install on is an Intel i7 920 processor on a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P motherboard, with 12Gb RAMM, a Sapphire Toxic Radion HD 4870 graphics card, and running Windows XP pro 64 bit. I installed the operating system on the D drive. This computer is not setup to connect to the internet.
I am also trying to install Adobe CS2 Creative Suite (everything except Photoshop), but the CS2 installation does not recognize the Adobe CS1 disk 1 when I put it in the CD drive as requested.
This is all very frustrating considering how happy I have been with my Adobe software all the way back to Photoshp 5. I called the 800-833-6687 number and after playing phone tree for a while was informed that I was calling outside their hours (at noon on Sunday) even though the webpage I got the number from says they are available 7 days a week.
It was bad enough that after spending $195 to upgrade to Photoshop CS3, 3 weeks later Adobe announced Photoshop CS4.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Steve

You do like making things complicated don't you?
From your message I deduce that you purchased an upgrade that is not in the upgrade eligibility path from the version that you had.
It's not logical but then what is these days in Adobe marketing? The only solution seems to be to get back on the telephone.

  • Motion 4 and 3D objects from Photoshop CS4?

Anyone know if Motion 4 can work with 3D formats supported in Adobe's Photoshop CS4? i.e. U3D, 3DS, OBJ, DAE, KMZ??
    Thanks, Rob.

    Hmmm...yes and no.
For example Cinema 4D -- produce your 3D object and even animate it if so desired, leave off the lighting as one would want Motion to handle that since it can even if limited. Put the 3D object in Motion and go to town on composition with 3D camera motion and lighting. Motion is not really manipulating the object, but it's treating it as a real 3D object in a real 3D camera space. And for that matter Motion could do reflective surfaces (if updated to do so).
Yes they are different, but they are relative parts of the development of a composition (movie, commercial, or even just a web ad). It's part of the process, a part that is seriously MISSING in FCS 3 and in any Apple's pro applications lineup.
Now I realize Cinema 4D isn't cheap $1000 entry (unless you get Student version) up to $3600 for a full studio bundle. This is obviously a big step up. BUT, Apple don't necessarily have to go as far as Cinema 4D -- a simplified variant say equal to Cinema 4D core product $1000. If you think it justifies a separate product (similar to the now dead Shake) then sell it as such but provide support for it's output in Motion.
Point being, there is a BIG HOLE in the Apple Pro Application lineup. Apple have Aperture, FCS, LS, but nothing in the world of 3D. Heck, even a limited 3D tool is a start, something to fill the void -- like AC3D (support OSX) $80 -- even if somewhat primitive it can be start.
Sure, no full body and even room scanners like the Pro's use, but just to getting something primitive going.
    Rob.

  • Terrible print quality in Photoshop CS4 -- everything prints halftoned

Ever since installing Photoshop CS4, anything printed from within Photoshop comes out on paper looking halftoned (even though it looks normal onscreen). No other program (including previous version of Photoshop) has this problem.
Below I have included scans of an image printed from Photoshop CS4 and also from Illustrator CS4.
As an example, I drew something fast at 300 dpi in Autodesk Sketchbook, pasted that it into Photoshop, printed from within Photoshop, and it came out on paper looking halftoned. I then saved the .PSD from within Photoshop, placed that into Illustrator CS4 and printed the same image from within Illustrator. It printed on paper exactly as it looked onscreen (i.e., normally). I then scanned both results and placed them side-by-side to show what I'm getting from the printer.
    http://www.hotcrayon.com/adobe/002/photoshop-cs4-printing-halftones.jpg
Lest anyone think it has something to do with the images themselves, I don't believe this can be the problem since everything printed from within Photoshop comes out this way. It prints vector artwork this way, high-res images too.. everything prints halftoned.
However, when I take the same images and print them from any other graphics program, they print normally.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm having the same half-tone print problem.  However, when I print from Bridge I get a high quality print with no half-tones.  Any Ideas?  Thanks, Jonathan.

  • How come CS4 Bridge does not offer Photoshop batch operations?

I have had tons of problems with CS4 on my desktop PC but seem to have most of them resolved with a new video card and updated driver except this one.  If it matters I'm running Windows XP service pack 3, 4gb of RAM of which 3.4 is available.  It has an 2.67 GHz Intel Core2Duo cpu.
While in Bridge, under the "tools" menu, there no longer appears an option for batch operations such as I had with CS3.  In CS3 it was the bottom option of all those listed.  The only batch operation offered in CS4 is batch rename.  I want to run Photoshop actions on multiple images selected in Bridge but cannot since this option is not being offered.
I have deleted preferences and rebuilt them several times, and uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop itself so many times that the CD is almost worn out.  I have also upgraded CS4 to the latest upgrade on the Adobe site, 11.0.1.
I've done everything I can find to do but still not fixed.  Anybody out there know the answer?  This has not been a smooth transition and is very frustrating.
    Thanks

OK, let's see how good you REALLY are...here's a new one.  Well actually not
a new one, but it went away for so long I thought all the other things I've
done corrected it (CS4 update and video driver update).  It's back with a
    vengeance.
The brush tool stops working for no apparent reason.  If I shut down
Photoshop and restart, it works.  As long as I'm working on an image, it
works.  Sometimes it will continue to work for several images.  Other times
it will not work on the very next image opened.  Earlier today it worked
fine for multiple images until I printed some, then stopped.  I thought it
had something to do with printing so I shut down, restarted and worked
without making any prints.  Again worked OK for a while and then stopped.
This is true for all brush type tools...paintbrush, clone, healing, etc.  It
seemed like if I opened files directly from Photoshop instead of via bridge
that I had more success but now this evening it will only allow me to work
on a single image.  If I close an image and open a new one, no brush
function no matter how I open it.   This is just the way it acted up before
but then went dormant as I noted above.
There is no pattern or repeatability to it that can help me home in.  By
that I mean, tomorrow it may indeed work fine for hours and then go wacky
again or it may go wacky on the first image.  I thought it may have been a
RAM or some other cumulative type problem but this is shot down by the fact
that it will at times stop working immediately while other times work for a
    long time.
I'm at the point where the only thing I can think of is it must be the
computer.  I installed CS4 on an old clunky laptop and it works fine.  I
installed the 30 day free version on this e-mail computer just as a test and
again it worked fine.  On my super duper photo editing PC, it just won't go.
I didn't realize that I'd have to add the cost of a new computer into the
cost of upgrading to CS4 because the computer is not that old and definitely
not a clunker as noted in my original post.  I'm already out about $200 for
two new video cards and still no luck.
    Any ideas?

  • Photoshop CS4 upgrade and Photographers offer

I want to take advantage of the photographers offer but realise I only have a Photoshop CS4 upgrade serial number having previously upgraded from CS.  Will this be sufficient to access the offer?

    Hi GrahamC16,
I did check almost all the relevan documents, there were no special reference about the Upgrade product serial number.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/buying-guide.html
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html#pslr-bundle.
The best option will be proceed for purchase & check the eligibility . I have checked GrahamC16 email ID & found that he has already spoken with our chat support & have got almost similar response.

  • Cross Platform from Photoshop CS4 to Photoshop CC offer

Is it possible to use an existing Photoshop CS4 serial number (Windows Platform) to take advantage of the Photographers offer currently available AND at the same time move to Mac software.  I have an old verson of photoshop but since then I have moved across to using Mac computers.

    What Mylenium said.
The Windows only or Mac only serial number distinction is a thing of the past with Cloud software.
Cloud apps are activated via your Adobe ID (no serial number required) so as a Cloud member, all your software can be installed and used on Mac/Mac or Mac/Win or Win/Win at any time.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4  runnig error - cant  load files

    hi,
ive first time installed adobe cs software in my pc. i have never used this software before nor its previous version.
when i try to run adobe photoshop cs4 - it gives me error after loading for few things that "A required application library failed to load and the product cannot continue, please re-install the application"
ive re installed the application several times but that same error continues.
    any help will b welcomed
    thank you

OK. This error drove me nuts and I have seen a thousand different "solutions" posted on various forums (none of which actually worked), but I think I found the magic bullet for this problem. This appears to be a result of corrupted/missing language pack files. Here's what I did to resolve it once and for all!
You should already have a folder somewhere with the contents/Setup.exe for CS4 Design Premium
Download the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended
Unpack the contents to a folder/directory somewhere on your PC
You will NOT be installing the Photoshop CS4 Extended application - only copying some files.
Copy the "extensions" folder from Photoshop CS4 Extended, that you just downloaded to your CS4 Design Premium folder (there should be an "extensions" folder already there as well)
Select yes if prompted to replace existing files/folders.
Double-click the Setup.exe in your CS4 Design Premium directory and re-start the installation of Photoshop from there.
    Problem should be solved.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 Installation Error

I'm new to this site and my computer has Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1.

If there is a topic similar to this one, then I shouldn't be here!

I have been using Adobe Photoshop CS4 for a few months now without any problems or errors.
But last week.. i had a virus problem and decided to do a Clean Installation of my Operating System.
I was not too worried because I have done this millions of times already... and know the process like the back of my hand.
Well.. after the clean installation was complete, i started to load my applications.
To my surprise.. Adobe Photoshop CS4 would not install. Nor would Adobe Illustrator CS4.
It would get to the screen "Adobe is beginig the installation process" and would stall ..
At first... i thought it would eventually complete on it's own.. but after a few attempts and hours of the same screen with no progress.. it was obvious Adobe was no longer responding at that stage.
I searched high and low, night and day, over a few days trying to figure out the problem.
    I was trouble-shooting everything.
In the middle of trouble-shooting, i took a break to surf the Net and see if i could find any suggestions when i ran into this Forum.
Someone mentioned disabling your Internet Security & Windows Defender.. and i thought.. no way.. it can't be that easy.
Well.. what do you know.. it was my Internet Security (Kaspersky Internet Security 2010)
After disabling Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, Adobe flew right pass the part where it was stalling, and finished installation without incident.
Adobe Illustrator CS4 also installed without any problems ...
I just wanted to share my experience as i know how frustrating it can be when software refuses to install.
Good Luck to everyone.. be patient.. trial & error. .. and im sure you'll figure it out.

I had a similar problem when i extracted the contents of my Adobe DVD and made an ISO file out of it so i would no longer need the DVD for installation.
But what i realized is that.. Adobe will not install if it's installed from the ISO.. and during installation.. an error would pop up.. and ask for the DVD
You probably have done something similar.
Here's what i did to fix:
    - Extract the contents of Adobe Photoshop CS4 into a Folder
    - and install from that ..
After i extracted the contents and installed from "setup.exe" .. the installation completed without error ..
    DVD
    - If you're having problems from the DVD .. then try to extract the Contents of the DVD on to your Desktop..
    and install from there ..
    Trial Installer
    - As for the Trial you are referring to .. im not familiar with it ..
but try to extract the contents of it to your Desktop .. and go from there ..

  • Photoshop CS4 Crashes When Opening Image - Other Adobe Programs Work

I'm at the end of my rope here.
The problem is (that has spontaneously occurred) is that Photoshop CS4 opens fine.  I go to Open, select image, it loads it on screen for a few seconds ,and then I get this Photoshop  has stop working and it closes out - no error codes or explanations.
    I have updated.
I have reinstalled with a clean it all up program beforehand.
The Open GL drawing is disabled.
    I have reset preferences.
Other Adobe programs (e.g., Premiere Pro) work fine.
Nothing particularly new or special done to computer except that I changed from AVG Antivirus to Microsoft Security Essentials.
    Windows is updated (I'm Vista - 32bit).
Is the problem my driver (a NVDIA GeForce 6150 nforce 430)?  It's updated to the current version, do I need to find the download for an older version and go back in time?
I have only 2GM in RAM (there's plenty of room on the hard drive btw), but I can't spend more money on this 3 yr + computer.  Do I need to set my RAM preferences differently?
And I've not had this problem before, it's always worked.
To prevent me from losing my mind any further, any help would be appreciated.

If OpenGL drawing is disabled, then the video driver isn't too likely.  Most of the problems in drivers show up with OpenGL drawing enabled.
But printer drivers and fonts can sometimes cause issues.
And there's always a chance that the video driver is failing at something simple (like drawing a menu or cursor).

  • Problem installing Adobe Photoshop CS4. Please help me.

    Hi Geeks,
I am stuck with Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Trial) installation since last two days. I am desperately looking for help to get rid of this problem.
    My Problem:
At the end of installation of Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Trial) i was prompted with en error
message stating some of the components were not installed.  When I check the more information button provided in the error message window, it showed below error.
“Adobe Photoshop CS4 English Language Pack Error: Error 2.”
Still I could find the installed Photoshop in C:\Program files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Photoshop.exe
When I executed above file; application showed below error message and close it.
“Some of the application components are missing from the application directory, Please reinstall the application.”
I just try to run Adobe Device Central CS4 which was installed along with it.  It showed below error message.
“The Localized resource files for this application could not be loaded. Please reinstall or repair the application and try again.”
So My Problem is I am unable to open Photoshop CS4 after its unsuccessful installation.
I spent more than a day in different ways as I explained below in more info section.  I am desperately looking for helping hands to fix this problem.
I ever find this kind of difficulty with any other components installation in my 10 years of development experience.  Please help me.
    More info:
    (1) I have downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Trial) in this month (July 09) from adobe official site.
    (2) My PC OS Windows XP SP3.
    (3) Prior to install Photoshop CS4 I had Acrobat reader 8 and Adobe DW CS4.
    (4) After I read some stuff on net, I downloaded both Windows install Clean up and CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe.
    (5) First I uninstalled all DW CS4 and Photoshop CS4 using add/remove then rebooted.
then ran CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe (which really did not removed as it did not
find any Adobe component), then installed Photoshop CS4. No luck. same error.
    (6) This time I ran CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe and removed DW CS4, Photoshop CS4 and flash and rebooted. Then I ran Photoshop CS4 as Administrator. Same thing repeated at the end of installation and when I tried to open the photoshop.  Finding a real hard time with it.
Any kind of help to get rid of this problem would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    R Sunil.

PS CS4 software itself has to be installed as Admin. Put the downloaded folder on the desktop (if not there already). Open the folder and right click on the .exe file and choose run as Admin.
Install on C drive is the best stable choice.
Before you do all this make the anti-virus is turned off. If windows defender is running turn that off too. If Adobe reader is installed renove that. Ensure no other adobe products are running in the background.
During install the process will hang at 90 percent for about 10 to 15 mins. This is normal.
After the software is installed reboot computer.
After reboot go to start, All Programs and right click on PS CS4. Click on properties, Compatibility and check run as Admin. Hit Apply and OK to close. Run PS CS4 and update to 11.0.1
    Be Advised:
Now the biggest problem you might run into is that the trial install went too far and failed. If this happened you cannot re-install PS CS4 trial because of the DRM that is hidden in the registry hive. The hidden DRM prevents people from installing the trial more then once and limits the trial at 30 days. There is nothing you can do other then nuking the hard drive and a fresh install of your operating system.
