Adobe online conversion screwing up Word document!

I am really getting frustrated -- everytime I convert my document to pdf using Adobe things come out screwed-up and changed. Photos moved down a page, etc. and I can convert it perfectly using the free pdfonline but have to have my links functioning, and wanted to use Adobe security settings as is an eBook for sale.
My ignorance maybe but what the heck should I do? I look at the pdf, make changes in Word doc. to account for the alignment errors and then it will come out screwed up in a new way when reconvert to pdf.
Is there another available technology to use that will make my hyperlinks functional?

Word is not a tool for precise page layout. It's as simple as that. If
your Word document is a simple text flow, it will reflow to multiple
pages, and that is as it is supposed to work. Why would a photo moving
be an issue? Be sure you NEVER do things like
* press RETURN to start a new page (use page breaks)
* type a page number (whether on a page, in a cross reference, or in a
table of contents)

  • How can I convert an online survey to a word document?

I built a survey, rather than have the students do it online, I took a screen shot and then ran xerox copies of the survey. Now, I need to convert it to a word document. It downloads into a bunch of nonsensical trash. Is there any way to get it to convert correctly?

  • Adobe Pro - will not print word documents to pdf.. keeps crashing

    Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro and when I try to print Word documents it says printing... and then crashes. The window to select the name of the pdf to print to never pops up. The Word program crashes and reopens. The print icon appears on the system tray and just says spooling.
    I am using Word 07.
Acrobat Pro was working fine to print PDF's on this version of word for a few months then for some reason it just stopped.
When I print PDF's from existing PDF's it works fine.
I have tried to repair the program but it did not help.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Miguel

If you are having problems creating a PDF, there are two steps you should do FIRST
Go to the appropriate vendor web site and apply all updates to the program you are using (several recent messages have concerned problems with MS Office conversion, with the response that different versions of Office have different BUGS that must be fixed by a download from Microsoft - and MS Office products are not the only ones which may, from time to time, need to be updated to work properly)
Apply all updates IN NUMBER ORDER

  • Adobe Acrobat 9/Win7 - Inserting Word documents into PDF file intermittently leads to missing or garbled text?

    Heya.
I have a user who is creating a PDF essentially compiled from inserting word documents into the position she wants inside of the PDF.
The problem is that sometimes this leads to missing or garbled text. For example, 6-8.1 is displayed as 6- .1. Which is just plain weird.
Other times, the text looks garbled or uneven. She turned off her PC but I took screenshots of both of these scenarios. I fear that I am not going to be able to retroactively fix the corruption in this document for her.
She says she's using very standard fonts. Like Arial. I asked if she could locate the original Word document that produced the garbled text, just for a sanity check. The problem is that her co-worker may have been the only one with that particular word document (there are probably hundreds which compile this PDF...) and IF she has it, she might not be able to locate it on her PC TO check what the original text is. Yikes.
Google-fu turns up very little. I tried the guidance in this document - https://answers.acrobatusers.com/We-combine-PDF-document-ends-corrupt-What-problem-q197619 .aspx[2] and a Save-As but no avail.
This also turns up but is not applicable to Acrobat 9 I believe:  http://blogs.adobe.com/acrobatineducation/2010/02/get_rid_of_that_bloat_in_your.html[3]
She states that she can manually fix the document but after a while it gets corrupted again? But I haven't observed that and she might have just fed me that to amplify the problem.
I will be able to post screenshots when she turns on her computer tomorrow.

Here are the two instances of corruption we have come across.
    http://imgur.com/nPztMYm
    http://imgur.com/wHM12e2
Edit:  A LITTLE MORE INFO.  I am able to select the corrupted text, paste it into Notepad with all the characters intact.  So the characters are THERE.  they are just not being displayed correctly.
Edit:  They also do not print correctly.  The page prints with characters missing, and she wants to print this document, so that is going to be an issue.

  • How Can I Keep Embedded Documents in a PDF Conversion of a Word Document?

I am running XP and using Word 2010.  I have a document that contains embedded Word documents.  I can convert the document to PDF but I loose the embedded documents when I do.  Is there a way to keep them available in the PDF version?  I can "attach" them, but don't know how to make those attachments obvious to a reader.
Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Something embedded in a Word file isn't going to migrate to PDF with the Word file's "page content".
If the embedded files are support use Acrobat to convert them to PDF.
    Combine the PDFs.
Configure this PDF to open with the Bookmarks showing.
    (Document Properties > Initial View)
Edit / add Bookmarks as desired.
    Be well...

  • The Adobe Reader conversion ability to Word (.docx files) will not work. How can I get my money back?

I signed up and paid for the service that Adobe Reader advertizes that says it can convert PDF files to Word (.docx) files. I tried it immediately after purchasing it and it did not work. What it did was it converted it to a .docx file but the content was in the form of a picture and therefore uneditable. This does me no good. Basically, it took a screen shot of the PDF and then inserted it as a picture into a word file. I wouldn't call that conversion. I would like my money back. How can I get my money refunded to me?

If the original PDF was an image, you need to perform OCR (text recognition) during the conversion.

  • How to convert word documents to html page in sharepoint online 2013

    Hi,
I am new SharePoint and still learning it.
I have been tasked to do the following on office 365 E3 SharePoint 2013 Online edition.
    1) I have to create a Web page in asp.net
    2) This page needs to show document from a given SharePoint folder and bind them in a grid or dropdown on the asp .net web page
    3) On selecting the document from the drop down or gird (on asp .net webpage), I need to show the SharePoint word document as HTML on the webpage (something like word to html) Note: These SharePoint word document may contain Images, bullets, tables etc.
What I have been able to do till now
    1) I have been able to connect to SharePoint from ASP .net application.
    2) I have been able to retrieve document from a specific SharePoint folder.
    3) Read the document from SharePoint folder and bind them to a drop down on the asp .net page.
    What is missing?
I am not aware about any API that SharePoint Online provides to convert Word document to HTML. Any code sample or reference on how to will be much appreciated.
I am not also not sure what is the best way of achieving the functionality this?
    Thanks
    Krishna

If this was SharePoint server then it would be easy however in O365 You need to create a app which will use the word automation service and below is  powershell which you can use for the conversion:-
    # This script will convert Docx to PDF using word automation and similarly it can be used to convert to HTML
    $wordFile="http://contoso/kick.docx"
    $pdfFile="http://contoso/kick.pdf"
    $wasp = Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy | where { $_.TypeName -eq "Word Automation Services Proxy" }
    $site = Get-SPSite "http://contoso"
    $ConvertJob = New-Object Microsoft.Office.Word.Server.Conversions.SyncConverter($wasp)
    $ConvertJob.UserToken = $site.UserToken
    $ConvertJob.Settings.UpdateFields = $false
    $ConvertJob.Settings.OutputFormat = "PDF"
    $ConvertJob.Convert($wordFile, $pdfFile)

  • Calling WebHelp topics when source is one large MS-Word document

I imported a large MS-Word document into RoboHelp 9 and then generated it in WebHelp format. If I want to point a user to the exact spot that will answer their question, is there any way I can call a specific part of this help project? The information I have seen online only pertains to calling individual help topics, only.
Thanks for any help you can provide. I appreciate it.
    nankinnankin

Cross-references should also work.  Mine do.
You have to remember when importing a Word document to check the Convert References to hyperlinks check box.
Import Word - On Import window, click Word Document Edit Conversion settings for Word documents Edit button.
Then on the Conversion Settings window, select Other Settings and check the Convert References to hyperlinks check box.
Everything should be referenced properly.  Cross-references may not show hyperlink colors or underlines unless you have them set to do that in Robohelp. But if you click the reference it should take you right to the item.  I have sets of documents and I have all my documents using this technique and it works.

  • Receiving a message in my word document after converting from a PDF to word. Please advise

After converting and dowloading that converted file from a  Adobe PDF file to a word document I then open the word document to see a message stateing
"To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html"
Please proivde advise on how to sucessfully convert the Adobe PDF file to a word document.

    Hi Buster,
The error message you were receiving occurs when you try to convert a dynamic PDF file created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer.  This file is usually already a fillable form.  Unfortunately there is no workaround available for converting documents like this within the ExportPDF service.
    I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance.

  • Can I covert multiple Word Documents into a single PDF using Acrobat Pro

I'm using Acrobat Pro X version 10.1.10...I'm trying to select multiple Word Document files  (Mac Version 14.4.3) but when choosing the files, Word Documents I cannot select them as a convertible file format. If I drag them into the conversion box it says they are not a recognised file format....any ideas?

Can you open any WORD file in Acrobat? If not, it is likely a limitation of Acrobat on the MAC. On the PC, you can simply use the Combine option in the file menu to create a new PDF. The conversion of the WORD document uses the PDF Maker option installed in WORD that must work, but this is the same process as opening a DOC or DOCX file directly in Acrobat. There are limitation with the compatibility of various versions of OFFICE and Acrobat that could be another issue you are having, but I don't know the combinations for a MAC. This only gives you some thoughts to consider. Some of the MAC users may be by later to give further thoughts.
The alternative is to create a PDF for each of the WORD files and then use the combine feature to combine the PDFs.
