Adobe opening unzipped files

Okay, I am really struggling here. I have recieved some zipped files and having trouble opening them. It is frequently going to Adobe and then I get a screen saying that Adobe doesn't support the file. What can I do, or is there any program that would help. I downloaded winzip, but when I click on open the file, it does nothing. I cannot get it to open and show me whats in the files. Thanks

This is a Windows file association. Click Start>Default Programs or Start>Control Panel>Programs>Default Programs>Set Associations
Scroll down to .zip in the list. Click Change Program and browse to winzip.exe in your Progams/Winzip folder, and choose it as the default app for .zip files. (the image shopws "Stuffit" as the default program, because that's what I use, but you will need to choose Winzip)
Then you'll be able to open .zip files with Winzip and Windows won't tell Adobe reader to open them.

  • Please Help! Adobe Opens 100 files at once

All of the sudden whenever I try to open a file in Adobe Reader 9.0 it opens the file I want and 100 other files as well
    How can I stop this?

    Hello:
I presume you are referring to opening PDF files from a Web page? Are you able to open PDF files that are on your local system without any difficulty? If so, that narrows it down to a browser plugin issue. I have seen similar plugin issues that could only be resolved by creating a new Windows profile (Adobe's suggestion which works but is a sledge hammer compared to what the true fix could be) which leads me to believe that the root of the problem lies in the Windows registry. If you are up for testing this theory, simply create a "test" profile on the system (control panel - User Accounts) in question and see if the problem persists in the newly created profile or not.
    Operating system version?
    Web browser version?
    Reader version?
    Let me know the results.

  • Why won't adobe open pdf files in maverick?

i recently installed Maverick on my Mac Mini and Safari won't open
pdf files from te net. Help!

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Adobe opens all files on my PC

I've got a problem while using Adobe Reader on my PC. Some time ago I set Adobe as the programme that opens all unknown files. As the result all the programmes on my computer including Mozilla Firefox  were opened by Adobe. I deinstalled Adobe and then everything got back to normal. But when I reinstalled Adobe, the problem came back. Once more Adobe opens all the files and I dont know what to do.

  • Can't Open Adobe Captivate 4 File in Captivate 5.5

    Hi,
Anything special I should try or be aware of?
Whenever I try to open my 2008 Captivate 4 files in Captivate 5.5, I get the familiar can't-do-that-for-some-reason error message. (The one that suggests the file is already opened, or it was unzipped badly, not enough memory, and so forth.) Since Captivate 5.5 removes the import feature, I can't try that.
So far, I've tried running it with nothing else open on my computer (I have 10 GB of RAM), made sure to empty the cache first, and so forth.
In desperation, I'm also redownloading 4 now and giving that a try, but any other suggestions would be great.

Notes for future searchers... here is how I solved this problem.
Short Answer: Open the file in 4, resave it, and it opened in 5.5.
    Long Answer:
I downloaded Adobe Captivate 4. Fortunately, I had my license active and registered here on the Adobe site. Installation of Adobe Captivate 4 on Windows 7 was a bit weird... it asked me to reinstall Flash which I already had installed, it insisted that Adobe Captivate was currently open, and so forth. I let it reinstall Flash and I rebooted, and 4 was good to go. I made sure to install Captivate 4 in a custom location, not wanting to overwrite any resources or other things in the Adobe folder for 5.5. Then I opened the old file. It actually performed some kind of update thing when I did this, which leads me to believe that I was formerly working with a less-than-latest version of 4 or maybe even 3! Once it completed, I saved it as a new Adobe Captivate 4 file. Then I was able to open THAT file with Adobe Captivate 5.5, and save a new file again.
For some reason, fonts didn't carry over. So I reset them in all my captions, and then recompiled successfully.

  • Can't open .png file unzipped from an email in PSE 9

I get the following error when I attempt to open a .png file that was unzipped from an email:
"could not complete request because of a problem with the file-format module interface."
What is unusual is that another employee can open the file using Adobe Photoshop CS. I am also able to open other .png files. I was informed that this file was created on a Mac. I am using PSE 9 on XP Pro.
Any ideas to what may be causing this issue? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • I am unable to open raw files from my Canon T1i in Adobe Camera Raw of my version CS3 of Photoshop.  I have tried to update my ACR by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe website but I am still unable to open raw files, just JPEG.  Is there a way to use

I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3.  When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files.  I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file.  I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud.  I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible.  Can anyone advise me what to do?

The T1i was first supported by Camera Raw 5.4 which is only compatible with CS4 and later
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    Some options:
    Upgrade to CS6
    Join the Cloud
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all T1i Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS3

  • Can't open NEF files in Adobe Bridge CS4

My camera is a Nikon D90 and I downloaded the Camera Raw.plugin Version 5.2. to open NEF files in Photoshop and Bridge from the CS4 collection. It works perfectly to open NEF files in Photohop but Bridge is not able to show the files. I cleared the cache already.
Does anybody know, what the problem could be?
    Thanks for your help!

Maybe the plugin is in the wrong folder? It should be in the Common Files/Adobe folder tree, rather than the Adobe/Photoshop CS4 folder tree (where only Photoshop can see it). Also, make sure there's only one Camera Raw.8bi installed.

  • Can't open .CR2 files in PhotoShop CS5, Camera RAW or Adobe DNG Converter

Firstly take note I shot these with a Canon EOS 450D (or Rebel XSi)...
I see a lot of answers speaking about having the most up to date version of the Camera RAW Plug-in.
I have a similar issue with my .CR2 files... I cannot open them in Camera RAW because it tells me that my camera model or make is not supported by the Plug-in, and so I was directed by other forums to just try converting the .CR2 files to .DNG. I already had the Adobe DNG Converter (version 6.5 I believe), so I tried this. It too told me that my files or camera make were not supported.
However, I have always been able to successfully both open my .CR2 files AND convert them to .DNG. I had not updated anything on my camera nor on my Adobe programs and for some reason this last attempt to open RAW files failed me... I have no idea what change would have led to it. Luckily I shot in both RAW and Large JPG but I certainly don't want to rely on my JPGs of course... Any idea why this problem might have arisen now if it had always worked easily in the past?
    Thanks!

Are these the same exact files you've opened before that you cannot now open?
Or are they newly copied files (camera or CF card to computer)?
Can you not open ANY Canon 450D files, even those you find online and download?
What I'm getting at with these questions is to try to eliminate or suspect data corruption of the files on your disk.
Exactly what versions of the various tools do you have, specifically (don't guess - go check)?

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac) won't open .arw files from my Sony RX100. How do I get and install the right version of Camera Raw?

Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac) won't open .arw files from my Sony RX100. I was told to update Camera Raw to at least 7.2. I tried to download this but got a DNG Converter instead. Where is Camera Raw? (it does not show up in a search of my hard drive. There is a folder of camera profiles but no extension or plug-in with this name). How do I find out what version I have already? How do I get the correct version?  . . . OR . . . is it the case that Bridge will never open Sony raw files directly and I will have to do a separate conversion process every time I want to use a raw file??. Can someone explain this?
    Thanks.

If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster).
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.
