Adobe outputting corrupted PDF's

Hi,
Recently when I do a save as in Illustrator or Photoshop, or even if I alter existing PDF's in Acrobat, I get a drawing error or a damaged file message when attempting to view them from a website. Actually one of the servers one of my customer has a site on, won't even display the files stating there is a problem with the file. Any idea what could be going on? This is really frustrating because I'm not saving the files any differently, it's just now unless I view them on my computer, they won't open. This is happening on three of my Adobe Products!
I am creating the PDF's in Adobe so it is not an issue that another program clashing with Adobe.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kelly

Yes I can. But once uploaded to the web I can't. If I create a PDF through Microsoft Office and then upload that to the web, I can read it.
It is whatever I output through Adobe.
It is really ticking me off! I am wasting so much time and the customer is getting really angry that their PDF's can't be viewed by customers. Obviously now that I figured out if I do it through Office it will work, I will do that, but it's a hassle.
Thanks for the response,
Kelly
* Scratch that...Office PDF's won't work either! It only works on single page PDF's. If it combines mare than one, it won't work.

  • Enabling usage rights in Adobe Reader corrupts PDF text

    Hi,
I've created a registration form using Open Office writer which has editable fields. I convert this to a PDF and then add a signature field in Acrobat 8.
At this point everything works fine, all the editable fields etc convert across, but I want people to be able to sign and save the form in Reader, so I check the "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" feature and save it. Now when I open the PDF in either Acrobat or Reader all the text is completely corrupted and illegible (see image).
Any idea what's going on here?
    Thank you
    Paul

  • Creating PDF's - Cannot get Arial to work - only getting MyriadPro (Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2 + Adobe Output ES Server on Linux (SUSE10))

    Hi
I am using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2 + Adobe Output ES Server on Linux (SUSE10) to create PDF's from input XML.
I have had some trouble getting Arial fonts which are used in my LiveCycle Designer created XDP's to be produced in the resulting PDF using the java API or the Process Flow (watched folder) in Output ES.  I have put Arial TTF fonts into both the Server Fonts and Customer Fonts folders and the Arial font still seems to be coming out as MyriadPro in the final PDF.
Is there something I am doing wrong ?
    Regards
    Robert.

    Hello Jackson,
We got this working by adding the below fonts to the server-fonts directory on the jvm which you specify in the LCM when you configure the livecycle and bounced the jvm and thing to note down here is that we added our Windows system fonts which are "ttf" files and our jvm is on linux. You can give a shot and see if this works at your end also.
    Fonts added:
    ARIALN.TTF
    ARIALNI.TTF
    ARIALNB.TTF
    ARIALNBI.TTF
    ariali.ttf
    arialbi.ttf
    arialbd.ttf
    arial.ttf
    Thanks-

  • Bridge CS4 won't output to pdf multiple images with same filename

Hiya...my googling efforts have thus far failed!
I've got CS4, and in Bridge, I created a New Smart Collection to find all filenames in a folder containing "." or ".jpg" - which in turn searched through all the subfolders like what you used to be able to do in Photoshop CS3.  Very simple stuff, but all the images are jpg's, but in multiple folders (I don't want to move them out of the folders, as the files came from an external source, and there are heaps of folders, and I don't want to pdf each subfolder seperately as it will take forever).
The problem is that some of the files have the same filenames (again I'd prefer not to rename, as it happens a lot on this project, and they are all over the place).  So whilst Bridge will show the thumbnail images correctly in the content tabbed screen in my New Smart Collection, but once I've done the Output to PDF thing, for example, instead of showing both different images it has pdf only the first image but repeated it twice.  And this happens multiple times throughout the pdf, the more times the same filename is used, the more times the first image gets repeated.
I know that it is messy to have multiple similar filenames, but why can't bridge just place the image anyway?  It allocated a space for it on the pdf and does show it in bridge, it just doesn't seem to survive the transfer to pdf well.
The only other thing that I have done is use the below link (which was posted on another adobe forum thread) to create a custom pdf output template (nothing too fancy, just number of rows / columns, size, font etc).  But I've tried using the standard bridge templates and it does the same thing.
    http://www.proficiografik.com/2009/08/03/save-custom-pdf-output-template-in-adobe-bridge-c s4.html
Any help would be appreciated...even if to tell me that I am being unreasonable!
    UPDATE 16/11/09
Just to let you know that I seem to have resolved the bug inadvertently with one of the Adobe updates. The below is the link for the AdobeOutputModule-2.1-mul-AdobeUpdate.zip which was released on 2/19/2009 - which allows for headers & footers to be placed in the Ouput pdf. I finally installed it today, and everything seems to be working fine now (i.e. I can pdf multiple images with the same filenames and the pdf will actually show each different image rather than repeating only 1 of the images).
Must have been a fix installed in the contact sheet templates that get installed with the update - not sure why the original version was corrupted, but I've left that with the Adobe guys (I submitted a bug report - and they were able to replicate the problem but hadn't fixed it as yet).

When I click import from disc I am asked to choose a disc and then I get this message:
The following photos will not be imported because they are already present in the catalog. To see these photos in the catalog select 'Show in Library' (the import will be canceled).
This is followed by a long list of images. If I click 'Show in Library' I can see all the images with the same filename. And then they start to automatically write over those images with images from the disc. However they keep the same metadata and keywords from the previous images. If I click on Import and deselect the "don't reimport suspected duplicates" box, it imports only the images that don't share filenames and none of the images that do.
Is there a way of setting the "Don't reimport suspected duplicates" box in preferences?

  • PAYABLES NOT GETTING THE REPORT OUTPUT IN PDF AFTER APPLYING RUP5 R12

    Hi All,
    RDBMS:10.2.0.3.0
    Oracle Apps :12.0.4
    OS:AIX 5.3
    Problem Description:
We are presently facing an issue in Payables not getting the report output in PDF esp for the reports "Invoice Register", Invoice Hold Report and also other reports. We were able to generate the reports till our last test performed on last Thursday. This instance was cloned over the last weekend and probably the new upgrade to RUP5 R12,would have impacted it.
Concurrent Programs submitted are completed normal but on clicking "view output" results in Blank PDF output.
The error message what was shown is as below:
"Adobe Reader could not open 'AcrC.tmp' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)".
Where could we locate ther above 'AcrC.tmp' of Adobe Reader..
could anyone please share such an experience encountered for resolution..
    Would appreciate an early response..
    Thanks for your time!
    Regards,

I suggest you speak to your DBA/sysadmin. This is not likely to be a reports problem.
Check that you can see the output from apps through the viewer (the report may not hav output anything)
Check whether you can print anything on that printer from apps.
May also be worth checking to see if you can print to another printer from this report.

  • Any way to repair corrupted pdf file?

I created a pdf document on a my PC and it became corrupted with all these strange characters.
Now when I open the document I get an error message that wasn't coming up before im hoping this msg will bring some light into the situation.
If anyone can help me id be very thankful

General Repair of Adobe Acrobat Reader corrupted .pdf file...
    1. Go to adobe official site, click the "Support" tab on the top of the screen, click on "Adobe Reader," and then select the "I can't open a PDF document" statement underneath "Troubleshooting." The Support tab is located near the top of the screen as a white word against a black backdrop. After clicking Support, you will see the phrase "Product Support Centers" on a new page in bold white font, under which is "Adobe Reader." The new page after clicking "Adobe Reader" will have the word "Troubleshooting" underneath the phrase "Adobe Reader and Help Support." Underneath "Troubleshooting" is "I can't open a PDF document."
    2. Follow the instructions on how to complete a general repair and installation of Adobe Acrobat Reader. To attempt the most basic PDF repair method, Open "Adobe Acrobat Reader" (select the program in your Start menu, which is on the bottom-left part of the screen), select "Help" from the gray tab menu at the top of Adobe Acrobat Reader, and click on "Repair Adobe Reader Installation." A meter should pop up indicating that your Adobe version is being checked for errors and is being linked back to the home Adobe official website just in case you need to download a new update of the program. If you need to download an updated version of the program, another pop-up will appear on your screen asking you if you want to update Adobe. Click "Yes."
    3. Reopen the PDF file. It should now be readable. If not, then try the next set of directions.
    4. If nothing helped, and you can't redowload .pdf file from source where it was, then use third party solution PDF On-line repair service https://onlinefilerepair.com/en/pdf-repair-online.html

  • Line art problem outputting to pdf

I have a problem with exporting pages of a magazine going to print as pdf, relating to line art placed on the page as a bitmap tiff (typically at 1200 ppi). At present I have a workaround for an annoying problem that really needs clearing up ...
I'm using CS4 InDesign and Acrobat (files prepared in Photoshop). So, high-res bitmap tiff containing line art sized (that is, just placed - no resizing in Indesign) and placed in Indesign, looks fine on the page. Output to pdf using 'export' and the resulting file, when viewed on screen, has a thin line down the right-hand edge of any and all bitmap files.
To ensure no misunderstanding, the 'bitmap' reference is what Photoshop calls it - a bilevel file with black lines in it, which enables me easily to overlay other files such as a photo (because the file is black/transparent) and assign a colour or tint to the bitmap, or even a drop shadow etc. I've used this workflow for years, from Photoshop through Indesign, but the latter always gives me this line on the right edge, in the pdf. It did this in CS3 Indesign/Acrobat as well (but never in Pagemaker).
My workaround is to lay a white-filled box over the edge of the file, thus masking it. But of course, that also limits me to where I can place the file - not easily on a graded tint background, not on a photo and so on. So I'd like to solve this.
Any ideas? OS is Win XP Pro (all updates applied to this and the CS programs - I don't believe they make a difference to this problem, as it has existed through several iterations of both OS and CS).
Anyone else seen this effect? Or is it just me? And has anyone a potential solution?
    Chris

I think by reason of not knowing what else I can do, I'm heading to the same conclusion - put up with it! I'll certainly try sending a line to print and see if it appears, but for on-screen stuff, I think I have to stick with the safe workaround I use and accept the layout limitations. (Or resort to Pagemaker for the pages that I just cannot do otherwise.)
Seems to me, if people have reported this for years, Adobe might have tried sorting it out. On screen or not, it still must be due to *something* in the file and/or Acrobat/Distiller to allow it to appear. If I create a white greyscale tiff with the same resolution etc, and place it on a page, there's no line down the edge on output - just a white page with a white (invisible) box. If I do this with an 'empty' bitmap file, a line appears ... Both files created in Adobe programs, so it's not me as a user ...
Just me whinging! I'm really coming from the angle that if this is indeed a display problem, it can only be a display problem if there is something in the file for the display to react to (badly phrased that!).
Thanks everyone for your support and ideas - I think that's me finished for now; I have files to upload and then sleep.

  • Could not display output in PDF format from a RDF file

    Hi all,
I'm calling a report file (.RDF) from the browser using RWCGI.EXE, and specified the output in PDF format, but it always asking me to download the active-X for the PDF file generated by the report. I have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on my machine, what could be the problem?
    thanks in advance.

    I had the same problem.
As a quick fix, what I enventually did, if you are using WebDB and CGI, is to create an alias in the cgicmd.dat file.
    It worked after.
    Example of line:
    ===============
    web41pdf: report=web_41.rdf server=Rep60_Z11734 userid=DEMO6I/DEMO6I@PERSOEM destype=cache desformat=PDF tolerance=1440
Then you call the URL http://<web site>/rw60cgi?web41pdf
Yet I would be glad to understand why I also get this message.

  • Pdf image recovery from corrupt pdf files

the pdf file in which i kept my pictures gt corrupt. i used image extractor tools but for nothing. please help me. i am clueless what to do?

How silly was I as I had been using PDF files since the day I learned to operate the computer system and didn’t know anything about them. Then one day I realized that why don’t I learn something about PDF to become a mater in it.
As we know in these days, PDF files are most commonly used by worldwide. Belong to any part of the society, we as an individual or an organization use PDF files. Therefore it has become very essential element in computer service.
“Generally a PDF or Portable Document Format file is a self-contained cross-platform document which appears same as in the form of soft copy or hard copy. PDF files are used by all of us as they contain the complete formatting of the original document, including fonts and images, PDF files are highly compressed, allowing complex information to be downloaded efficiently.”
PDF is very popular due to its easiest form of transferring the files over and through the internet as it maintains the original formatting and secures the documents so nicely that other files’ formats don’t.
Any PDF file contains text or images and sometimes both i.e. text and images. It can be used for office presentation, school assignment or personal collection. But sometimes we don’t need the text part which is inside our PDF file. Occasionally, we need only the pictures from our PDF files. That time we usually do this: copy the images or pictures from the PDF files and then paste them in other new PDF file. That process of copy and paste takes a long time and makes us tired. So that time we need an application which can easily extract all the images and pictures from our PDF files in very short point of time.
But just think about this: How can you extract images and pictures from a PDF file which is corrupted. Because there is not any software application which can extract the images and pictures from a corrupt PDF file. Did I say no?
Actually there is a tool which can easily extract the images and pictures from not only a normal PDF file but also from a corrupt PDF file. With the help of this tool anyone can easily extract the images and pictures from a single or multiple PDF files of all versions such as 1.3/1.4/1.5/1.6/1.7, from Adobe Acrobat 3.x to Adobe Acrobat X either it is normal or corrupted as it is very simple to use.  After extracting the images and pictures, it allows you to save them in different formats such as JPEG, BMP, PNG and GIF. It is one of the fastest extracting tools which does extraction process in no more time.
i used this tool as it was refered earlier in this thread, and i am totally satisfy from this tool : PDF Image Extractor from SysInfoTools. What a utility excellent work done by experts.

  • PO output as PDF

    Hi All,
Is thr any possibilty to directly SAVE the PO Printout in pdf FORMAT
    Thanks

    hi
Use the Program RSTXPDFT4 for printing any spool request into PDF.
As of Release 4.6D, PDF format (Adobe Acrobat data format) can be created via the SAP spooler by using the device type "PDF1".
As a workaround, a report (RSTXPDFT4) is made available for the missing "direct PDF printing", which can read spool requests, convert to PDF and perform a frontend download.
Read OSS Note 317851 - Printing PDF files in 4.6C/4.6B/4.5B
Note the restrictions specified in Note 323736 with the print output with PDF.
Caution when modifying device type ZPDF1, see Note 437696.
    Version < 4.6D
If you are in version less than 4.6D, you can configure an output type to convert the spool automatically into a PDF format into your local harddisk but not do a "direct PDF printing".
When you print to this PDF output type, it will prompt you to enter the file name of your PDF file to be stored into your local harddisk.
First you have to add a printer using
Windows -> Start -> Settings -> Printers -> Generic / Text Only -> Port : Print to File
Next create a new device type e.g. ZPDF -> Select device type ZPDF1
Options for HostSpoolAccMethod -> Host spool access method : F : Printing on Frontend Computer
Host Printer                       :  __DEFAULT or Generic / Text Only
    Save your entries.
When you print to the device type ZPDF, choose Generic / Text Only for the Frontend Computer if it is not the default type.
A user prompt Print to File will appear to let you specify the Output File Name.

  • Output to PDF module not working - Bridge CS4

In Bridge the Output module (sidebar) does not display, as well I cannot output a selection of images to a PDF file.
I tried to update the program and received the following error message:
"Adobe Output Module 2.1: Failed to Install"
Has anyone here encountered a similar problem?
    Cheers,
    Michael

    Richard
Glad to see I'm not the only one.
Having dealt with our friends (Adobe Support), who although willing to respond, have not been able to solve this issue. Now it appears I will not longer receive their kind (but not so helpful) suggestions unless I fork over more money to assist in debugging the product :-(
Since acquiring the Master Suite, there have been a number (5 in all) updates that simply won't install, and the Output Module is flaunted as a relatively important part of the collection for creating WEB sites.
Hopefully, there are others who have this issue and are willing to post here. It seems it may be the only way we are going to see something done about this.
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • CS6:  Adobe Help Manager - PDF download/extraction error

Hi - we have received several reports through this forum that some users are encountering an issue when downloading Help reference PDFs through the Adobe Help Manager in CS6.
Problem: Although the application appears to be downloading the Help content, the application hangs during the 'extraction' phase of the process. Further, when users check in their shared documents folder, the PDF files are actually present and unzipped as expected.
Solution:  the application database files and/or corrupt configuration files are likely at fault. To resolve the issue, please delete the following two directories.
    Delete the following directory:
    Windows: %appdata%/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1
Tip:  To find this directory in Windows, copy the preceding phrase into the Windows Explorer file manager.
    Mac OS: /[user name]/Library/Preferences/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1
Tip:   To find this directory on Mac OSX 10.7, open the Terminal application and enter the following: "chflags nohidden ~/Library/” and execute.
    And delete this directory too:
Windows : C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\ (Help and PDF directories within)
Mac : \Users\Shared\Documents\Adobe (Help and PDF directories within)
Then simply restart the Help Manager and restart the download process.
The engineering team is continuing to investigate the root cause but the steps above should resovle the issue for the majority of users.  Thanks for your patience while we continue to investigate.

    Hi Mark
I was almost sure that this issue was related to our proxy, so I decided to trace the dialog between HelpManager and our proxy.
I used a HTTP sniffer called Charles  ( demo downloadable here:  http://www.charlesproxy.com/ ) to trace everything.
    Bingo !
HelpManager has some problems talking with the proxy ( authentication issues ).
If you are interessed, I can mail you the log created by my sniffer to allow your engineering team to investigate.
Hereafter are some screen shots of the trace :
As you can see, it's very short :
    1) the first HEAD failed (normal) : the proxy request an NTLM authentication
    HEAD #1 request :
    HEAD #2 answer :
    2) the 2nd HEAD failed :
HelpManager did not respected the NTLM authentication method requested by our proxy !
    HEAD #2 request :
    HEAD #2 answer : error 403 !
    3) then a POST is made :
Failed because the authentication is bad  (not NTLM, as expected by our proxy)
    POST request :
    POST answer : error 403
    4) then a GET is made on the URL :
    http://www.adobe.com/support/chc/update/400/fr_FR/update.xml
This time, the authentication negotiation between HelpManager and the proxy is OK, but the last GET failed : error 404, the requested xml file is not found on your site !
    GET #3 request :
    GET #3 answer : error 404
Mark, I hope these informations will help your engineering team to correct this issue !
Feel free to request complementary information if needed.
    Best regards,
    Didier Nicolas
