Adobe PDF 6.0 in Shared folder?

My Mac under OS X 10.5.6, stops during a Startup sayiug IOKitWait has an error of some sort related to the Public Folder. After pausing for 5 minutes, giving me a Blue Screen while doing so, it continues on and boots normally. This is the actual message where it pauses:
Mar 27 15:29:18 Moonstone-Art-Studio /System/Library/CoreServices/
coreservicesd[43]: SFLSharePointsEntry::CreateDSRecord:

I believe this is the Shared folder in my User account?
Is this pause related to the folder "Adobe PDF 6.0" being in there? Maybe outdated for OS X 10.5.6?
Did it get there because I'm running Adobe Acrobat 6 Pro on my Mac?
Solutions?

Finally Back Again ... Paste:
Thanks. I've had relatively good luck with the little I've done with Acrobat Pro 6.0.6.
Create pdfs from multiple files, reduce file sizes, etc. Not too extensive.
Only under Tiger 10.4.11 and now trying some of it under Leopard 10.5.6. Seemed to work for small jobs.
If Adobe hears about it, I expect they'll throw something into the mix, to break it, to try and make us buy more (a bit pessimistic, I know).
I have no more to spend on Adobe products, Leopard 10.5.6 is probably my last Mac OS X for a good while. I am trying CS on both my machines.
Hate to be so negative about Adobe, but have you tried to get past the alternative ID and PW they're getting us to do? I've done it, but it keeps coming up. Annoying.
Like trying to keep up with the OS X ... when you can't afford $4-500 every few years on what's a great package ... just not feasible for me.
Oh crap ... I forgot to Login before I started typing this ... now Cut, Login, and Navigate Back to this Thread, then Paste.

  • Unable to open pdf from some particular shared folder which is not in domain

    Encountered a strange issue here.
We have copuple of users who login with Citrix session.
They are able to open pdf from all the shared folders but not one which is not in domain.
User are able to open all other files viz. doc, excel, notepad and so from that particular folder.
Issue with all the pdf files and not only one particular file.
Double clicking the pdf file starts the process AcroRd32.exe but the file does not open.
If an already running AcroRd32.exe process is there (means if Adobe Reader is already open), then it's possible to open the pdf files from that folder.
Moreover, came across one strange thing.
I created a shortcut to one of the pdf file from that folder within the same folder.
And it was possible to open pdf file from that shortcut but not directly :S
Gives error: "Acrobat failed to connect DDE server" after about 20 mins if we try to open file directly.
Googled a bit and found that issue can be resolved by navigating to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\acrobat\shell\open\ddeexec\application and changing the Key "AcroviewA10"  to  "AcroviewR10
But when I navigated to the mentioned registry there was no AcroviewA10 but instead it was just Acroview.
    Adobe Reader version: 9.5.5
I will be really grateful if somebody can provide solution for this.

What happens when you open the Adobe app, then tell it to open the file?
How big are the attachments?  There are limitations to the size allowed to be sent:
    Email Provider
    Size Limit
    Gmail
    25Mb
    Outlook
    20Mb
    Yahoo
    25Mb
Are you sending the files to yourself?  Not sure how you are emailing files from a website...
Are the PDF's password-protected, or some kind of copyrighted eBook perhaps?  Can you email other files successfully, or are PDF's the only files that don't work?
Perhaps using a free Cloud service as an intermediary might work better.

  • Adobe reader 9 leaves a shared folder on my desktop?

i recently installed adobe reader 9, to find that it has left a shared folder named 'Adobe Reader 9 Installer' on my desktop, this folder sizes approximately ~110mb and appears to contain installer files for adobe reader 9, adobe air and some others stuff. My question is, is it safe to delete this folder? or will adobe reader 9 require the use of this folder? it seems strange to leave a 100mb + file upon the desktop.
    thanks

Almost every program I've installed leaves the installer folder where it
is. You may need to re-install and for some software add and/or remove
features. Who would purchase software that erased itself so that it
    could not be used again.

  • Cannot delete .PDF files from a shared folder.

    Hello,
I am having issues with deleting/renaming PDF files!
Permissions is not an issue as even logged in as the Network Administrator of the Domain, I still can't delete the file.
The error message I'm recieving is:  cannot delete xxxx.pdf It is being used by another person or program.  Close any programs that might be using this file and try again.
There are only 1 or 2 users that would have access to the files and neither of them are using them.  I can also reset the security permissions for the file and take ownership, but even after doing these things it doesn't make a difference?
I've tried various unlocking tools (Unlocker) and none of them report that the file is open or that there are any locks on them.  This only happens with PDF files. If I reboot the sever the problem will go away, but this server needs to be 99.999% of the
    time!
    Help please!

    Hi,
Windows is somehow accessing Thumbs.db during the time of the folder move/delete attempt.  Please go into Folder options > View > Always show icons, never thumbnails to check if you can delete .PDF files.
For more detailed information, please refer to the thread below:

  • Save billing document as pdf file in a shared folder

    hi experts,
my requirement is to save the billing documents as a pdf file whenever it is generated automatically.
is it possible to define a output type to save the pdf file similar to the one used for sending pdf files as attachemnts in email.

    Hi Sarah,
The printing to PDF functionality can be included in the print program which is attached to the output type. This is an ABAP job and if you show the program name to the ABAP guy he should be able to fix it. The program name can be found by goning to transaction code V/40 and then selecting the relevant output type.
    Cheers,

  • Can I install multiple instances of the Adobe PDF printer driver?

Our application allows printing to be directed to different folders depending on the document to be printed.  However, the Adobe printer driver printing preferences directs the file to a specific location, so we have to store all documents in one folder.  Is it possible to have multiple instances of the printer driver, for instance Adobe PDF 1, Adobe PDF 2, with the output folder set to a different location for each driver, or is there a simpler way of specifying the output folders?
    Thanks

(Instructions for XP Pro and Acrobat 8.0)
Open the printers folder and click on Add a printer.
Click Next on the Welcome screen
Select 'Local Printer attached to this computer', uncheck Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer, click Next
Click on Create a new port, select 'Adobe PDF Port' from the list, click Next
Select the folder you want the PDF stored in, click OK
On the Install Printer Software screen click on Have Disk
Click on the Browse button and browse to 'Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\xtras\AdobePDF' (May be different for your setup)
Select the AdobePDF.inf (English version) and click OK
Select the Adobe PDF Convertor (there may be several listed, I always choose the top one) and click Next
If the Use Existing Driver dialog is displayed select 'Keep existing driver' click Next
Name the Printer i.e. Adobe PDF 1, click Next
Set the sharing options, print a test page if you wish and finish.
Now when you print to this printer from within an application it will create the PDF in the specified folder
You can repeat this process for a number of outputs.
    Hope this helps

I have purchased Adobe XI Pro and created a form for entering bowling scores to submit to newspaper for my high school team.  I can not figure out how to get pdf's into my documents folder on my iPad so that I can access the files in bowling alleys where I do not have a Wi-Fi connections.  I need to be able access files without going to acrobat.com.  Help!!!@

Post the PDF files to a web site. The browse to them in Safari on the iPad.  When you Open the files specify the Open to occur in Adobe Reader.  Then you can have/Save them in your Documents folder on the iPad.   An iPad has limited access to files otherwise.

  • Acrobat 11 Pro - problem with right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF" output folder

I'm migrating from one machine running Windows XP Pro with Acrobat 8 Pro to Windows 7 Pro with Acrobat 11 Pro.
On the XP machine, when I right-click on a document and select "convert to Adobe PDF" the process works just fine - it always outputs the file to the target destination I have set in the Adobe PDF printer definition.
On the Windows 7 Pro/Acrobat 11 Pro machine, the exact same settings are ignored: the PDF will always end up in the same folder as the source file.
Both the source folder and the destination folder are on one of my office's networked drives.
Under the Printing Preferences, I have the output folder address set the same on both machines, so it *should* go to the right location on the new machine.
Oddly enough, on the Acrobat 11 Pro machine, if I select Adobe PDF as the default printer and do a test print, it *does* print to the correct folder!
    This has got me stumped!
    Thoughts?
(update from later in the day)
If Adobe PDF is selected as the default printer, I *can* select a bunch of documents, right-click, select "print", and Word will open up, and they'll print to the correct target folder.
So, it's "just" the right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF" that doesn't work correctly.

The reinstall is typically the last ditch effort to do. The first step is Help>Repair and Help>Updates. As far as Office 2013, the PDF Maker of AA X is not compatible and you can only print. In your list of errors it showed a problem with AcroTray.exe. As a first step, go to the print and select print-to-file. The file will be a PS file (maybe with a PRN extension). Once the printer if finished, open the file in Distiller to complete the process. If that is successful, then the problem is with AcroTray. Check your running tasks to be sure AcroTray is indeed running. If not, that is likely the problem. If it is, then restart it (it is located in the Acrobat folder). AcroTray provides the interface between the PS creation and Distiller to automate the process of creating the PDF.

  • How can i get back the adobe creative cloud shared folder after I deleting it?

How can i get back the adobe creative cloud shared folder after I deleting it?

I think Adobe pulled the Creative Connect Desktop app until the new CC release next month. I just built a new PC and noticed it wasn't available in the app manager any more. On my other machines it isn't working anyway. In another post Adobe devs said they new it was down because thay were working out some server issues. It looks like they couldn't resolve them.
I bought into the CC right from the beginning since I never buy my software outright but rather use a credit card. I thought that getting the whole master suite for $30 a month interest free was a great deal. Having all the software has been great, but it was over a year before we even saw a desktop syncing folder and noe it seens as though we are going to have server problems every time they upgrade the cloud leaving us to have to use the cluncky web interface during these sync blackouts.
I can tell you Adobe better get it together cause ther starting to p*ss off a lot of loyal customers. It feels like were dealing with a cellphone company who only gives deals to the new customers and once you've signed the contract your screwed.
Here is the link to whats going on

  • Adobe PDF (Print) presets: "Cannot create the file. The folder may be write protected."

In Windows 8, this feature of InDesign CS6 only works for the local Administrator account:
File -> Export -> Save as type: Adobe PDF (Print) -> Save -> Save Preset... -> OK
If you try it with any other account this error message is given: "Cannot create the file. The folder may be write protected."
For anyone else encountering this problem, a workaround is to run as administrator.

Which permissions exactly did you set, how did you set them and what did you set them to?
The path to the Drop Box would be /Users/someuser/Public/Drop Box but you obviously wouldn't want the ownership and permissions to be the same on all four directories.
Have you tried using Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility) to repair permissions? That would probably be the best way to ensure they're correct.

  • Shared 64-bit Adobe PDF Converter, "Invalid Handle" error. (Print request from 32-bit computer)

    I have at my disposal a Windows 7, 64-bit, Laptop and a Windows Server 2008, 32-bit.
My Adobe CC suite is installed on the laptop, but the server needs to stay as bare-bones as possible.
There are embedded help files in some of the software (on the server) that I wanted to convert to a PDF rather than print out. As with many printers, I figured I could share the PDF driver installed by the Acrobat Pro software, and then simply send the spool over from the server. I initially ran into missing driver issues, so I googled a solution where there are additional drivers found in the Program Files (x86). However, there were several cryptically named "*.inf" files that all pointed to some 6 driver certificates that all had the same name. Talk about directions being useless, even if they were right. In any case, the first driver installation came with promising results but no final file. I figured I could just update the shared, 32-bit, driver, but go figure that the option to refresh the secondary driver was nowhere to be found. The shared dialogue recognized that I clearly installed one, but a manual update or removal option was not provided.
I am at a point where I would like Adobe to just show me some love, and throw me the 32-bit Adobe PDF Converter installer that would have been embedded in earlier versions of Adobe Acrobat. If anybody could lead me in the right direction to solving my problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

Acrobat is not licensed for use on the server. If you can print to postscript on the server, you can take the postscript files and distill them on your version of Distiller.

  • My Adobe PDF printer is gone from my printer and device folder

I have Adobe CS3 which I had to reinstall with my new hard drive.  I have Windows 7, HP Pavillion DM4, using Firefox 7.0.1.  I downloaded Adobe Reader X as a fix, so that is on my computer also.  I deleted all the previous reader versions.
With my old hard drive, I was able to customize my Acrobat experience online by downloading pdfs online to open my Adobe Professional Acrobat, print web pages directly, or from print preview to Adobe Acrobat.
I wasn't able to do it when I resintalled all my software onto my new hard drive.  I tried customizing this experience myself to fix, and I screwed it all up - so bad, that now I don't even have the adobe pdf printer in my printer list.  My Adobe Acrobat Pro says version 8.0.  I have pressed the update button from the software and it says I am updated.
So, basically, I need someone to help me get my pdf printer in my printer list, and get my firefox to allow me to print from webpage, download pdfs and open in Acrobat pro.  Someone must be familiar with how to customize firefox, too, I suppose.

Is it a 64-bit system? Have you tried a repair? Keep in mind that AA8 can work on Win7 (at least 32 bit), but it is not certified for opertation and you will be told to upgrade by Adobe.
