Adobe PDF Conversion Settings

I'm running Acrobat Pro v7.1.  Recently, I had a problem with Avast, which suddenly decided that Acrobat was a virus.  To their credit, there was a quick update from Avast from Avast to fix the problem, but not before I'd re-installed Acrobat.  I'm not certain that this is where my problem started but it's a good candidate for blame.
Normally, when I create a PDF I am prompted for an Output Folder.  This is how I have it set under Printing Preferences as I am usually creating PDFs to send to clients and I need to keep them in clients' folders.  Since the occurence outlined above this option is now not offered when I create a new pdf, instead it defaults to creating a PDF in My Documents.  If I then repeat the print job, I am prompted for a directory.
When I am creating PDFs for everyday business I have "View Adobe Output Results" ticked.  However, when I am preparing batch invoices I turn this off.  Now, again, this option is ignored and resets itself.  Very annoying when creating around 40 invoices.
Another minor problem - and this is one I've had all along - is that when I create a PDF, if I close it down before roughly 5 seconds, it opens up again.
I am using the Standard.joboption.  I created a new option (Standard1) with the options I required but this is still ignored.  I've changed the Read Only settings on the Settings folder and the files but this hasn't made any difference.

To populate the 2 fields that are blank you would normally just select from the list. Check that out in the Start>Printers menu under the Adobe PDF printer settings. Also, open Distiller and see if any properties are set for the settings and such.
Since you have a 64-bit system, be sure you have installed the updates to AA8, currently at 8.3.1. 64-bit systems require 8.1 at a minimum. Though Adobe does not support AA8 on many of the newer systems (not heard about Win8 yet), many users have been successful, at least on 32-bit systems. I have read 3 posts of folks successful on Win 7, 64-bit systems supposedly, but they do seem to have some issues as might be expected. If you are talking about Win8, I have heard nothing on folks running on that one with AA8. So your OS is an important part of the answer.

  • Is Adobe PDF conversion into xlsx files a flop?

Can anyone help me with this real phenomen?
I have converted a PDF file into xlsx. To my surprise, the european decimal "coma" was displaced by one caracter to the left as a thousand (point), this in numbers of up five caraters including two decimals.
Example 1: PDF number 165,65 becomes 16.565 in xlsx.
For numbers greater that 5 caracters, the conversion is correct
Example 2: 2.615,97 is correctly tranposed.
For large data files this makes the xlsx file (and PDF converter) uselees.
Any one can help? Is this a PDF flop?

Adobe reader is XI. Adobe exportPDF was renewed on the Nov 3, 2013. Is this what you asked?

  • Problems printing Microsoft Publisher 2010 into an Adobe PDF

I have been trying unsuccessfully to print something that I made in Microsoft Publisher 2010 into an Adobe PDF. I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and Microsoft Publisher 2010. When I first purchased both programs about 9 months ago I was able to print the Publisher. NOw I receive a message when I try and print saying 'Publisher cannot perform that operation'. When I look under Printer Preferences with Adobe PDF in Publisher, the top 3 fields are blank. I have tried to edit but it will not let me. I have gone to my printer section and opened Adobe PDF Printer device and it shows all of the settings as they should be. I am not sure if it is an issue with Adbe PDF or Microdoft Publisher. Any help is greatly appreciated.

First I click Print and I choose Adobe PDF from the drop down menu. Then I click Printer Preferences and under the Adobe PDF Conversion Settings, the top two are Default Settings and Security Settings. They are blank. When I attempt to edit them to add in the settings that I want i.e.- PDF/X-1a:2001 it will not let me do anything and it will not print. I checked the default settings and preferences under Devices and Printers and it has the correct information.

  • Acrobat 8: JobOptionsFolder / PDF Admin Settings in Windows registry

    Hello,
Systems are Windows XPSP2, Acrobat Professional 8.1.2
We would like to share *.joboption files via a readonly server share (W2K3 Server).
In the windows registry we find two values with the default path to the *.joboptions files:
    1. HKLM\Software\Adobe\PDF Admin Settings\, Default (Reg_SZ)
    2. HKLM\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\8.0\ , JobOptionFolder (Reg_SZ)
    both registry values point to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\"
When we change these values to "\\server\share\", which is write protected by security settings, and copy the installed *.joboption files to this location, all seems to work fine.
The users joboptions directory found here:
    HKCU\Software\Adobe\PDF Settings\, Default (Reg_SZ)
    pointing to C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\
we would like to leave as is.
Will we run in troubles, if we share *.joboptions files as described? Problems known with readonly joboptions on a server share?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Roland

  • Adobe PDF Printer - How to print in 200dpi?

    Hi,
I'm trying to set up Adobe PDF Printer to print tickets for a Danish football club, and I need it to print in 200dpi.
In the Print Quality drop down menu (in Adobe PDF Printer Settings) I can only choose presets (72, 144, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 3600 or 4000dpi)?
Is it possible to add 200dpi to this list somehow?
Or is there another way to set the print quality to 200dpi?
    Thanks.
    All help is greatly appreciated.
    \Martin

  • I.E 9 + Adobe PDF toolbar ( Convert  )

    Hello All,
I'm seeking some help relating to the Adobe PDF toolbar / add-on not appearing.
For the life of me, this toolbar will not enable itself when I click on the "enable " option.
In Manage Add-ons, under Tools, in I.E9
It shows the following enabled/disabled add-ons
    Adobe PDF - Enabled
Adobe PDF Link Helper - Disabled
Adobe PDF Conversion Toolbar - Disabled
    SmartSelect Class - Disabled
Im using the 32-bit version of IE btw.
No matter if I select enable or choose the ADobe PDF from the drop down list it wont show up.
I've repaired the acrobat installation, removed the createPDF add-on and reinstalled.
Now if I run the browser ( Run as Administrator )
It appears. however, im not giving this user local admin rights just to get this to appear.

So this means you have probably modified the permissions on the system via a policy to restrict the Standard Windows User Account.  This may inhibit access to the ActiveX control that Acrobat/Reader both use to display PDF files in IE.  You will need to use your policy tool and possibly a registry tool to monitor what the difference in access the Administrator has that the User does not and modify permissions to the registry/file system accordingly in order for the ActiveX control to work properly

  • Adobe Reader 9 + AutoCAD 2010 student version: no 3-d pdf conversion?

    Hi,
if I try to export my AutoCAD 2010 3-d image as a 3-d pdf to Adobe Reader 9, all that is done is badly spaced 2-d image on white document sheet. I've viewed other 3-d pdf images on the Adobe Reader 9 done on some other AutoCAD's, so I know that it can handle them. Is the problem the AutoCAD student version or am I using wrong method?
I would be grateful of any advice...

  • HELP! Conversion to Adobe PDF - Causing Word 2003 to Freeze Up!!

I searched the forum and couldn't find anything addressing this. I'm trying to create 508 compliant PDFs out of Word 2003 (Windows XP), using Acrobat 8.0 Professional. So far, no success.
I open the Word document. The Adobe PDF and Acrobat Comments menus are displayed on the menu bar. I select "Standard" settings, then "Convert to Adobe PDF."
Word gets about 10% into the conversion, opens a "Now printing Page 1..." popup, and that's it - the application freezes completely and I have to restart the program.
Is there some setting that's conflicting with this command? What can I do to make this work?? It's driving me COMPLETELY crazy.

You likely do not have AcroTray running in the background and so the print process fails.

  • Custom options in Adobe PDF printer are not showing up in "Default Settings"

    Hello,
I am using Windows 7 and I am trying to create custom "Default Settings" in my Adobe PDF printer. When I make edits to an existing setting, click "Save As..." and save with a new filename, the new settings are not showing up in the "Default Settings" drop down box in the "Adobe PDF Settings" tab of the "Adobe PDF Document Properties" dialogue box. I can confirm that the new settings are indeed saved on my hard drive and are located in:
    C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
No matter how many different custom settings I save as described above, they are simply now showing up. This works for me on other computers, but just happens not to work on my current one, which recently had an OS reinstall from scratch. Prior to the reinstall, it worked just fine on my computer (an ASUS UX31A laptop). The included pictures demonstrate what I'm talking about.
    Any thoughts?

I finally solved this. The path for the Adobe PDF Settings was set to the follwing in the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\PDF Settings):
        C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\
Even though "%USERNAME%" should work, it doesn't. I just replaced it with my actual username and it worked.
