Adobe PDF Document

Getting XP window "Adobe PDF Document", says "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader.  If it is running, please exit and try again."
?Should I delete Adobe Reader XI and download a new one?

I have tried your suggestion...no luck!
The ADOBE CLEANER appeared to work OK.  When I tried to download from the http://get.adobe...etc... website, I get "System has detected that you already have a more functional product installed.....terminate."
When I look at the Add/Remove Programs list, there is a pgm called "Adobe Reader X (10.1.6)".  When I try to Remove it I get the message "The feature you are trying to remove is on a network resource that is not available."

  • Firefox crashes when opening any Adobe pdf document from internet. This only seems to happens with firefox 6.0.2. Pls assist how to solve problem

    Good day,
Please note Firefox is crashing every time I tried to open a pdf document I find in any internet webside. This is happening since I have installed Firefox 6.0.2. I temporarily solved the issue going back to Firefox 5. The problem is that my Mac installs automatically all the updates that might come from Firefox, including new or greater versions.... So, here I am again with Firefox 6.0.2 and not able to open Adobe pdf documents.....
Would you please kindly assist to fix this issue...? Please note I have systematically sent a report every time Firefox has crashed, so you might have quite a few by now!
Many thanks in advance for all your help and assistance.
    Francesca.

  • Problem with viewing Adobe PDF documents

Problem with viewing Adobe PDF documents
I have a Windows 7 Home Premium Computer
I have read all the suggestions and I have tried downloading multiple versions of Adobe Reader for Windows 7 and Vista from http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/.
Prior to downloading each version I would delete the current version using  control panel programs uninstall.
After each new installation I would shut down the computer and then restart the computer.
I have tried downloading versions with and without having my antivirus (CA Total Defence) running.
I am told after download that the version downloaded successfully.
I have read Acrobat Help http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-reader-installation-windows.html and followed the instructions.
None of the above has helped.
The problem is no matter what version of Adobe Reader I download, I cannot seem to open a PDF and read it. Nor will the Reader itself stay open.
    1. If I try opening the reader from the desktop link or from the actual program menu, the reader opens for about 5 seconds and then closes of its own accord. If I try to click on any of the reader menus (eg File, Edit, View, Window, Help, Tools) then a warning bell is sounded and the menu does not open. Shortly thereafter the reader closes.
    2. If I try to open the reader by double clicking on a PDF document then the reader opens but the document is not shown (only the grey PDF reader screen is shown) and then the reader closes after about 5 seconds of its own accord.
The desktop shortcut shows as the 'red Adobe Reader icon'. But the actual program menu icon shows as a blank folder icon.  All PDF documents show as the PDF Adobe icon.
I have tested various PDFs and none will open on this computer but they will open on other computers.
I have created a word document and saved it as a PDF. It looked like it had save correctly (has the appropriate icon) but when I try to open it as per step 2 above then the document is not shown and then the reader closes after about 5 seconds of its own accord.
Does anyone have any ideas about what is going on and how I can fix this?
Could you please answer in this forum and email me at [removed]
I am so puzzled and frustrated.

Thank you so much this did the trick.
I spent so many hours on trying to sort this out and your answer was so  simple and clear.

  • Acrobat cannot open files in the "Adobe PDF document" format

The document “example.pdf” could not be opened. Acrobat cannot open files in the “Adobe PDF document” format.
    Hi All,
Running Acrobat Pro 9.4.2 on Snow Leopard, have never had this problem before. Showed up about a week ago, I believe with new update. Can't double click on a file in Finder, or drag and drop to AcrobatPro in Dock, but can open from within Acrobat Pro / File / Open command.
All my preferences are correct with "Open With Acrobat Pro" as the default.
I've read all the threads I can find with no answers yet.
Anyone found and answer, I see a lot of us are going through this over the last year.
Only possible common thread I have found is possibly HP printers. But I've been running HP printers all along with no issues.
    Thanks for you input.

Moved to Acrobat Installation & Update Issues
Either Acrobat needs to be re-installed or the file is named as a pdf file, but it is not a pdf file. Try opening the pdf file in a text editor and read off what the first line of the file is.

  • I cannot print adobe pdf documents as it is password protected. I forgot my password. How do I fix this problem?

I cannot print adobe pdf documents. Password protected. How do I fix this problem?

You'll need to remember it or recreate the PDF from the original file.
If there were an easy way to get around that, passwords wouldn't be worth much.

  • Some Adobe PDF documents don't print from Adobe Reader; with other software it works correctly

    Dear community,
I'm facing the problem that some Adobe PDF documents with lots of colors and lines (size less than 3 MB) don't print on our printers from Adobe Reader XI.
The same files when opened with PDF XChange or PDF Architect are printed out without problems.
How can I provide an Adobe Reader that is able to do so? Any recommendations about solving the issue are very appreciated.
    Best regards
    Christian

Word document problem fixed at the moment by deleting and adding the Lexmark printer again.

  • Finder crashes and restarts when Adobe PDF documents are accessed.

Recently I've been having problems with my Finder crashing (window closes and the dot under the Finder icon in the Dock goes out) and restarting (dot under the icon in the Dock comes back on). The problem occurs when I select an Adobe PDF document in the Finder. I use column view. If I click once on a document to see the Preview information in the next column, or if I double click to open the document, the crash and restart occurs. However, it doesn't happen for all Adobe PDF documents. If the icon next to the document name in the Finder shows the first page of the document, the problem does no occur. But if the document icon remains the Adobe logo, the problem occurs.
I'm running Os X 10.5.5 on one of the early iMacs. Other than regular Apple updates, the only software change I've made recently is to install Adobe Flash Player.

    Here's an update.
The problem seems to be confined to the Finder when Column view is selected. When List or Icon view is selected there is no crash and restart. When Cover Flow is selected the Finder crashes and restarts, but the pattern seems a bit odd. It crashes when some folders or subfolders are selected, but not others.
In Column view the problem occurs for some Adobe PDF documents where the document icon is the first page. It occurs for all PDF documents where the icon is the Adobe logo.

  • My adobe/ PDF documents are password protected. How can I remove the password?

@My adobe/ PDF documents are password protected. How can I remove the password?

    Hello,
two answers I found in my library about removing or finding unknown password:
Removing: "Not with any Adobe products, and other products are not discussed on these forums..."
Open a file: "The only way to open a password protected file is to know the password (there's no way to get around that). Hopefully you know who created the PDF and can get the password from them."

  • Adobe pdf document's help

    Hi
when ever i try to open a adobe pdf document's i get there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader.please exit adobe acrobat/reader and try again. i do with no luck. i tryed to uninstall/reinstall my adobe reader 9.3.1 still will not open adobe pdf document's. can anyone please tell me how to open this?
    thank you i have ie 8 windows 7 32bit

    Hi indi68632954,
I can understand your concern & you need to worry about this, as your PC folders won't be available on other PC's as this option is just to browse through the files of the specific system on which you are working as shown in the screenshot below.
Only the files uploaded on the Document cloud will be available over Internet using Adobe Document Cloud service upon the authentication of your Adobe ID & password.
I hope this will answer your query.
In case if you have any further query please let us know, we will be happy to assist you.

  • Attachment to Adobe PDF document

    Hi
When I attach a file to an Adobe PDF document, the attachment is saved in a temporary folder inside the C drive. But I want the attachment to remain saved where it was originally located (say, F:\Test). Is that possible?
    Ashvin

I think the file has somehow been corrupted. Can you have the person that sent it to you send another copy?
     Cheers, Tom

  • Adobe PDF Documents - Windows Terminal Server, tips ?

    Hi,
I am looking for some tips.
We provide managed hosted servers for medium sized companies and for years have been using Adobe for the creation, manipulation and viewing of PDF's
However since all these servers are running Terminal Services we find that the display and scroll speed of any document that we edit with Adobe to be very is slow.
We can understand why this occurs, due to the fact that unlike other documents the background of the document scrolls / moves like it would for an other image but not all PDF products suffer so badly
I have reduced the default resolution of any created pdf's and this has made a significant improvement but this does not solve the problem of documents created else where.
I have tried some other pdf products and they don't seem to suffer as badly as Adobe does in this department. We don't want to stop using Adobe so hopefully I can get some tips to improve this situation.

    Bill,
    Thank you for your response.
Firstly, it does of course raise a flag of concern for users running a full copy of Adobe on their Terminal Servers. I would have thought that as long as they had sufficient licenses for all users i.e. 50 Adobe user licenses for 50 Terminal Server users they would be above board, but I will check up on this for them and if this is the case well that answers my question perfectly, they will have to change products.
I also understand that there are many other converters around, we have tried several but would prefer to stay with Adobe. We don't like to support multiple products and have been supporting Adobe now for probably over a decade.
Lastly the problem is not only for Acrobat Professional but also even just for the Reader. You see when you display an Adobe "Document" it is actually and image and therefore scroll speeds on a Terminal Server are agonisingly slow due to the "white" background of the document. Other products as we both have mentioned seem to have gotten "around" this some how and I am not quite sure how.
I really don't expect to find a solution to this problem, I thought I would bring it up on the forums in case I have missed something before we have to move to a different PDF document application.

  • Adobe PDF Document error pop ups while web surfing

I have a strange issue with either Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. Randomly while looking at websites or loading a website an Adobe error pops up that says, "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try agian."  Then after hitting OK a couple times a blank PDF pops up. After closing it another PDF file pops up. Finally after closing the second PDF window does it go away.
Adobe isn't even open when it happens. Also it happens when just clicking MSN on the favorites. Not even trying to open a PDF in Adobe, and yet this error shows up.
Please help me because I am very confused by this issue.

Chrome uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.
Either use a browser that uses the Adobe plugin, or configure Chrome to use the Adobe PDF plugin: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • Can I UNEXTEND an ADOBE PDF document?

I want to unextend a document. I recently failed to keep a "pure" backup of a document for a project. Now I have the document extended and I wanted to provide the document to users who are outside of my licensed users.
My option seems to be to convert it back to draft, which leaves a watermark, or to Final, which would technically break my license agreement.
    Any Advice?
Also, can I edit the watermark to put something related to my organization?

Was it a document created in Designer? If so you can open the PDF in Designer which will convert it back to an XDP, then you can save it out as a PDF and it will be unextended.
