Adobe PDF driver no longer supported

I recently purchased an iMAC running Mountain Lion 10.8.4 which no longer supports Adobe's PDF printer driver. This driver had an ADD BORDER setting which I relied heavily on. Without the availability of this driver, I now must EXPORT to PDF from the applications that I use; Specifically, Adobe Illustrator CS4 & QuarkExpress 9.
Since the Adobe PDF printer driver is no longer supported, I can't find a selection to ADD A BORDER when exporting to PDF from within these applications. My client insists on having a border around components within my PDF files. I have over a hundred  files for this client. How can I add a border (not a frame) to my exported PDF files?
The only solution I can find is to add an empty outline box to each file, export it to PDF, then delete the outline box before preping each file for printing. This work around should be unnecessary. If there's something I'm missing, please help.

Hi,
I think I found the answer.
I updated to Acrobat Professional 9.4.4.  But that isn't the answer.
I tracked it down to the installation of Firefox 4.

Specifically, in the second discussion there is a comparsion of browsers with hardware acceleration turned on and off and their outputs (text vs graphic).
When I turn hardware acceleration off, the PDF from the Adobe PDF Printer is searchable.
I am using Firefox 4.0.1.

  • Tiling options unavailble for Adobe PDF driver in Acrobat X

I am having an issue printing tiled pages using the Adobe PDF driver from Acrobat X.
Every other driver I have installed has the options to Tile Large Pages and Tile All Pages from Acrobat documents. As soon as I switch to the Adobe PDF driver, the options disappear.
We have tried removing and reinstalling the driver, as I read that this solved the issue for another user here. No luck.
Any thoughts on what could be going on here? I have been using this functionality for several months, and as far as I know nothing has changed with either Acrobat or the Adobe PDF driver since I last used it.
    I'm running Acrobat X Pro 10.1.1 on a Windows 7 PC.
Thanks for whatever insight you can provide.

    Yes, that's where I'm looking.
The options are there for all drivers but Adobe PDF. And they were there for that driver the last time I used it.

  • Adobe PDF Printer - no longer creating searchable files

    Hi,
I am using Acrobat Professional 9.4.3 on Windows 7 64-bit.
I just noticed Adobe PDF Printer is no longer creating searchable files and I can't figure out why or how to set it up to do so.
Looking back at PDFs created in February, the PDF Producer is Acrobat Distiller 9.4.0.  These are searchable.
Current files - which are not searchable - show the PDF Producer as Acrobat Distiller 9.4.2.  Should it be 9.4.3 - to match the current version of Professional?
Any thoughts why this would be happening?
    Thank you,
    Kevin

  • Adobe PDF Printer No Longer Available After Acrobat X Install

I've been using Acrobat 8 Pro for several years. To generate PDFs, I use the Adobe PDF printer (through FrameMaker). I recently installed Acrobat X Pro. Now there's no Adobe PDF printer. Save as PDF doesn't work (no PDF generated). I need to get the Adobe PDF printer back but cannot find any information about how to install it. All the Acrobat Distiller help has to say is that you should use the Adobe PDF printer. Not helpful at all.

    Good day,
I'd like to see if I can help you.

So I spend Time installing the "TRIAL" (1hr) and eat up to 2 gig's of my hard drive.
Then I cant do the one thing that it should do from the get go, create a PDF!
Did the Adobe PDF Printer install with your trial?
What application did you author the file in that you'd like to convert to PDF?
Did you print your file from that application to the Adobe PDF Printer?
And to correct and continue to evaluate the "TRIAL" version I must delete the working version of software so that the "TRIAL" Version will be able to create a PDF!!!!(30 Min)
And if I don't like the "TRIAL" version I have to Reinstall the Original.
    (30 Min)
Do you mean that you had a previous version of Acrobat (such as Adobe Acrobat 8 or 9) installed?
If so, this is not surprising as we do not support multiple versions of Acrobat installed on the same computer.

  • Adobe CS2 is no longer supported, so

I downloaded the updated CS2 from the Adobe website. The instructions that came with it for uninstalling my existing CS2, which included Acrobat 7, included uninstalling Acrobat 7, so I did. When I reinstalled the new CS2 download, it did not include Acrobat 7. Is there a reason for this, or was this an error?

Rave, to answer your question, my operating system is OS X 10.4.11.  All the other CS2 programs installed, but Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro was not included. To be clear, this all came about after my computer crashed and I had to transfer my hard drive to another used Power Mac G5 that I purchased as a replacement. After that I could not use the Creative Suite 2 that I already had because it "was no longer supported" by Adobe. I was forced then to download a CS2 replacement from Adobe. I went through all the uninstall instructions and procedures, then ran the install. It all installed, except for Acrobat 7 Professional which is nowhere to be found in my applications.  So how can I get it back?

  • Version of google drive no longer supported

    Hi all,
recently, when booting up my MacBook, I get a pop up screen telling me that "this version of google drive is no longer supported. Please install the latest version" - (see attached).
Then when I try to install the latest version I get another pop up that tells me " this operation can not be completed because the item 'google drive' is in use" - (see attached).
Has anyone else had this issue? What can I do????
    thanks
    adam

What were you using before Google Drive came along?
I do not use any Google software, myself.
I am reporting the issues found in both Google's own troubleshooting forums as well as issues reported here in these forums and one or two other Mac magazine troubleshooting forums I am, also, active in.
Both Google Chrome AND Drive are not running completely stable on Mavericks.
You can continue to continue to run  this software, as is, at the risk of your Mac slowing down or causing other performance issues or bugs OR choose to uninstall it for awhile until Google really issues a seriously major update for Mavericks that gets the software running bug free and stable.
Google is going to have to cure the various bugs in Drive in Chrome soon as OS X Yosemite is coming soon in the fall.
I can offer no other options for you.

  • Adobe PDF driver keeps dissapearing.

The adobe pdf print driver keeps dissapearing on Windows 7 x64 bit machines with acrobat 10 pro installed. I'm constantly having to repair the installation on these machines. Does anyone have any ideas of a fix for this issue?

    Yes, that's where I'm looking.

  • Adobe pdf page no longer responding on Mac

Have downloaded Adobe 10 to Mac OSX 10.6, and after initial problems has mostly been working o.k.
Got to end of online pdf forms ready to submit, & given option to view and print- nothing happened; treid another option to save - nothing happened.
I decided to take a screenshot - went to Edit and clicked "take snapshot" - but can't find a snap shot anywhere on laptop - and worse, the cursor hasn't reappeared so cannot now do anything further on the adobe pdf page.
When I click on the adobe pdf a "crosshair" appears in place of the cursor & the screen turns blue or occasionally burgundy. I click again, the colour goes but the cursor still doesn't re-appear, just the crosshairs remain.
Went back to Edit to deselect "snapshot" - it won't disengage, the tick stays in place - which is probably why there is no cursor.
How do I get rid of this and resume normal status to save the pdf?

Just found another similar issue elsewhere - answer is to click on pdf page then click escape!! Should really be somewhere on adobe that indicates this is the solution to such a silly issue .

Man, I hope you get an answer for this question. I can't download any pdfs at all anymore on my Mac. OS10.7.3 I don't even get an error message, it doesn't show that I've opened a pdf, I just get a blank screen. It's getting very frustrating. I've been searching for an answer online and just saw your question. Hopefully you'll get an answer soon and it will answer mine as well.

  • AE CS6 - Focusrite Forte driver no longer supported?

    Hi,
Following the latest update to AE CS6 my focusrite forte audio card is no longer accepted?  It works fine in every other program including the latest AE CC and all other Adobe CC programs and also Abelton Live, Cubase, Windows Media, Quicktime etc.
If i add an audio track into a project in AE CS6 and try to play back I get the following error message...
Audio Driver not supported, please re-configure your device or change Audio Output, alarmingly I'm also sometimes getting the BSOD!, which I've never had since building this machine.
I have all the latest drivers for both the focusrite forte and Adobe CS6 installed and like I say until the last update is was working fine.
Can someone please look into this, I dont know what else to try.  I like using AE CS6 instead of CC because of the massively overlooked god awful lag everytime CC tries to search for a file not on a super high speed SSD, by the way when is the fix for this coming?
If you need any additional info then please ask
    My comp specs
    Windows 7 64 bit
    Intel core i7 3930K
    32 gig ram
    AMD Firepro V7900 Graphics
Focus Rite Forte USB 2 Audio
    All the best
    Si

    Thanks for the info Todd,
I get that many updates for CC products I start to lose track, AE CC does seem to be working a lot better now...
Do you know have any info about my sound card problem? Another reason I like using CS6 is because I have a lot of Foundry plugins installed on that version so a fix would be greatly appreciated.
    All the best

  • HP Universal Printer driver no longer supporting T790ps

T790ps 44in Printer no longer available to be added using HP Universal Printer Driver PCL6 -
Was this removed from supported printers?

    Thank You -

Sorry, I should have asked this earlier, what version of Windows are you using?
Since I don't want to waste too much more of your time with you waiting for me to reply, I will go ahead and give you two links of troubleshooting steps that I would recommend trying.
The Progress Bar on the Software Installation Stops or Stalls
'Device Setup Failed to Complete' or 'Unknown Device' Message Displays on the Computer in Windows Du...
The first one addresses the issue of the software not completing. The second, even though the title might not seem like an issue that you are having, addresses the issue of the printer not being recognized by USB.
Try those and let me know if either of them work. If they don't, get back to me with your version of Windows and I will see if I can find anything else to help you resolve your issue.
If I have been helpful or if you’d like to say thanks you can click the white star under my name to give me Kudos.  I really appreciate it!
    Best of luck,

  • DVD drive no longer supports as many media types

    Hey guys
I recently had a serious problem with my MacBook Pro, only solution was to back my stuff up and do a fresh install and start all over again. Everything went fine, but I noticed just now in the system profiler, that my optical drive (MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-875) now only supports CD/DVD write to -R and -RW discs, and I know for a fact that before I did the new install, it supported a couple of other types, including +RW. I'm still hunting for a cause/solution to this, and will post anything I find, but in the meantime, any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

  • Imac runs slower and disk drive no longer supported

I am not tech savvy.  I am writing this for help.  My 2009 imac has been upgraded each year.  Now that I have Yosemite, things run slower. I thought keeping current was a good thing, but now I realize it might not be. Also, why has apple discontinued support of the disk drive for iphoto, idvd, and iweb. I loved using those items and creating things. Now my only option for saving photos is to put them on a flash drive.  I was told there are apps, but I don't know which ones. I never knew that things would be discontinued and not usable.  There should be a warning  to dummies like me who don't know that apple gives then takes away.  I thought each upgrade made things easier, safer, and better.  Guess that is not the case.    If anyone can tell me what to do so that my disk drive will work with iphoto, let me know.  Also, any easy to follow steps are greatly appreciated as I am a "simple" user.  Thank you.

You need to upgrade iPhoto to 9.6.
I don't use iWeb, but IDvd runs fine for me. Yes, Apple has discontinued support for them, but that was several years ago.

  • Can't create Adobe PDF printer on Win7 64 bit

I'm running a newDell Optiplex 990 with Windows 7 64 bit in a large company. Our IT guy just installed CS6 and everything seems to work fine -- EXCEPT - when we go to Devices and Printers/Add printer, there's no Adobe PDF driver (are they still called drivers?) to install as a printer.
We've reinstalled/repaired Acrobat Pro 10 several times and it still doesn't appear. We've never gotten a message indicating a problem.
I've done a lot of searching on this forum and elsewhere and found what seems to be the answer for many people which I'll copy here. Please note that when we get to bullet #4, there's nothing like Documents\*.pdf (Adobe PDF) to select -
    Manually install the PDF Printer
Click Start >  Control Panel > Devices and Printers
    Select Add a printer
    Select Add a local printer
Check Use an existing port and select Documents\*.pdf (Adobe PDF) from the drop down.
    Click Next
    Click the Have Disk… button
    Click the Browse… button
    Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF
Select AdobePDF.inf from the list, then click the OK button
You will see many Adobe PDF Converters in the list, however count six down from the top and click Next (you may need to try this numerous times to find the correct Converter from the list that works with your version of Windows)
Name your printer, e.g. Adobe PDF
Follow the rest of the prompts and your PDF printer should now be installed correctly
Two additional details that may be significant:
    1. We dug into the folder mentioned in bullet #8 but there wasn't an Xtras folder. I have a similar system at home and was able to find the Xtras folder. I copied that and placed it into the same spot on my work PC but no luck.
    2. Our IT department is rolling out Viewfinity in order to lock down PCs from users installing "stuff". The IT guy who did the install was logged in as an admin but still was unable to install Adobe PDF.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
