Adobe PDF editor

I would like to purchase an Adobe PDF editor. I currently have Adobe Reader X. I see on the website that there is an option to buy Acrobat XI Standard for US$159. Will this programme allow me to edit PDF documents  and convert the documents to word and excel and is this fee a once off fee or a yearly fee?

Export from PDF to Excel,Word or (with Acrobat XI) is only available with the "Pro" version.

An alternative might be to subscribe to one of Adobe's online services available at :

I downloaded a cheap PDF editor and it converted all my PDFs to their software. Then when I deleted it, I cannot open them in the Adobe format any longer. Please let me know how to get them back!

It's important to understand that when this sort of thing happens files aren't "converted" at all.
In Windows and Mac, there is just one app (program) that it run when you double click a type of file. There's an app for Word documents (Microsoft Word). There's an app for PDF files. So all that happened is that you installed an app which can open PDF files.
Nothing changed in the files. You can still open them the traditional way if you forget double click - start the app, use Open from the File menu.

  • How do I have my articles on website print automatically to Adobe pdf?

    Hello,
I am the editor of the website theidchannel.com, and often the users desire to print the articles. How do I make the article-document automatically appear as an Adobe pdf when the user select to print?
    Thanks!
    DK

    Good day DK,
You can automate the workflow you described with Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator ES2.
Alternatively, you could create PDF versions of your articles and link them for users as a printer-friendly option.
    Kind regards,

  • PDFs created by Adobe PDF print device do not display correctly in Illustrator

I generated a PDF from a PowerPoint file by printing to the Adobe PDF printer device. This step works correctly as the PDF appears normal in Acrobat. However, upon opening the PDF in Illustrator, none of the graphic (bitmap) elements are rendered correctly -- they appear as gray boxes with remnants of the correct image remaining as a single pixel border around the edge. This is clearly an error in the PDF importing in Illustrator. Any work-arounds or suggestions?
    Message was edited by: mcgrawcm
Update: OK, so it has something to do with whether an image in PPT was "cropped" before conversion to PDF, as an uncropped version of the same graphic is rendered accurately in Illustrator after conversion to and from PDF. For my part, I'm just going to recopy the images directly into Illustrator, but perhaps this might help someone else dealing with the same problem.

I understand this is no help, but Illustrator is not a pdf editor. This is why you can get unexpected results when importing a pdf in Illustrator.
If you really need to edit a pdf you could use Acrobat or Neo, and there are some more out there, just look around on the net:

  • I can not print an PDF using the Adobe PDF-Printer with Acrobat DC

    Hi all,
i installed the Trial of Acrobat DC but it dont let me use the Adobe PDF-Printer well, because i cannot print from any third-party-application using Adobe PDF.
I tryed to print from within Word, Editor and Browser and selected the Adobe PDF-Printer as target, but at 75% both, the Application from which i print and the PDF-Creating-Wizzard are freezing (for hours) and i need to kill the procesed. No PDF-File is created. Same Problem with trying to print a Testfile from within the Windows-Printer-Dialogs.
Only Adobe DC cause this issue, if i use freeware like Bullzip PDF the files get created successfully, so i assume its not a generally problem with PDF on my system.
What could be the problem? (pls dont say its because of the trial, a trail should allow to test all features and Why should i buy a programm if it cannot do what a freeware can do?)

    Hey Daniel,
Have you tried repair Adobe Acrobat DC?
If no, then please repair the installation under Help menu.
This could also happen due to an Adobe Acrobat DC installation file corruption. To resolve this issue :-
Uninstall Adobe Acrobat DC using the Acrobat cleaner utility.
    Restart your computer.
Re-install Acrobat Acrobat DC  Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC.
Let me know if the issue persist.

  • Acrobat cannot open files in the "Adobe PDF document" format

The document “example.pdf” could not be opened. Acrobat cannot open files in the “Adobe PDF document” format.
    Hi All,
Running Acrobat Pro 9.4.2 on Snow Leopard, have never had this problem before. Showed up about a week ago, I believe with new update. Can't double click on a file in Finder, or drag and drop to AcrobatPro in Dock, but can open from within Acrobat Pro / File / Open command.
All my preferences are correct with "Open With Acrobat Pro" as the default.
I've read all the threads I can find with no answers yet.
Anyone found and answer, I see a lot of us are going through this over the last year.
Only possible common thread I have found is possibly HP printers. But I've been running HP printers all along with no issues.
    Thanks for you input.

Moved to Acrobat Installation & Update Issues
Either Acrobat needs to be re-installed or the file is named as a pdf file, but it is not a pdf file. Try opening the pdf file in a text editor and read off what the first line of the file is.

  • Adobe PDF printer - Programmatic Control

    Hi,
I have an MS Access 2007 application that has been using an Adobe printer to create PDF files.  It's been working for several years on XP machines but since the PC's where upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit and MS Office 2010 32 bit it has stopped working.
The version of acrobat and distiller is 9.  I used the registry change to specify the filename I was creating as described in the Distiller9APIReference guide http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/Distiller9APIReference.pdf page 15/16
    ie:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\PrinterJobControl]
    "C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe" =
    "c:\MyPDFoutputFileName.pdf"
Originally I could specify the PDF file to create and then wait for it to be created before moving the file onto the server.  Now even though the registry appears to be amended as before the user is now being prompted for a file name.
I printed to the Adobe PDF via word and notepad and they appear in the same registry, so I've assumed its not a 32 bit/64 bit registry issue.
Sadly I wasn't responsible for the previous or current installation of the adobe products so have no idea what might be different between then.  The printer name did change from Adobe to Adobe PDF if that makes any difference however I have changed the code to call the new printer.
Any help on how to track down the issue would be most helpful.
    Nathan

The solution was with the registry after all.

  • Editing in Adobe PDF Pack?

    Hello,
I'm thinking about buying an annual license for the Adobe PDF Pack but I have a question about editing. Based on the research I've done on the Acrobat.com website it seems that editing an existing PDF file (such as deleting a page) is not possible with the Adobe PDF Pack. It seems that the same applies to the creation of a new PDF file from scratch. Is my understanding correct, and if it is, why is that?
    Thanks in advance
    BR

Correct, PDF Pack does not allow any editing of PDFs, including page deleting. Combining existing PDFs (whole files) is as far as it goes.
    It does create PDF files.
From your question I think you may be assuming that there exists a PDF editor that everyone uses to make PDFs, like Word is used to make documents. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Editing PDFs in Acrobat is possible sometimes but this is a desperate last resort. PDF files are always made by converting from YFA (Your Favourite App) - this is a great strength of PDF, you don't have to learn new editing tools.

  • Alternative pdf editor?

Since upgrading to MavericksI've, discovered that I can no longer view my bookmarks in the usual way in Acrobat 8.3.1 Professional. Bookmarks in the bookmarks navigation panel are indented and always take up 10 or more lines. Here's a screenshot:
I'm not a power Acrobat user, but do depend on bookmarks and annotations in my work. I'm wondering if there alternative pdf editors that will work for me. Although there are many good editing features in Preview and Adobe Reader, I can't find a way to add bookmarks in either. I checked out iSkysoft PDF Editor and Wordshare PDF Editor and found they were the same program, and had lots of red flags associated with them in discussion groups. So I've eliminated them from cosideration.
Does anyone know of a good pdf editing program other than Adobe? Or should I bite the bullet and upgrade to Adobe Acrobat XI?
    Thanks for any input.

PDF Studio Pro is my favorite on the Mac!  It does everything I need, is easy to use and now even offers me a toolchest, so I can use the same custom edit marks over and over!
They continue to deliver new features - I hear version 7 is coming out sometime this winter - http://www.qoppa.com/pdfstudio/demo/changelog/version700.html
And, I can use another product from the same people on my new Android phone (qPDF Notes).
It's so nice to be able to make PDFs that can be viewed on all my devices (and also can send to my friends on PCs or whatever).
    Oh, I meant to mention:
PDF Studio 6 works with Mac OSX 10.4.
PDF Studio 7 will work with Mac OSX 10.5 and higher.

  • Can't Sign Adobe PDF doc

    HI,
Can someone help on signing adobe doc?
I have adobe pdf form, with a signature field, but when i clicked on it, there are 2 options : sign using
    - My Existing Digital Id form
    - A new digital id I want to create now
Because I dont have digital id yet, so i should choose the second option. BUt its grayed out? Anybody know? I find no way to create digital ID although I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro.
    Thank you

Let me try something and report back
Okay I created a Form with Name address city state zip phone fax and cell and signature, in Word (can use any Word Proccessor)
Make sure Tabs have leaders and correctly spaced.
go to print menu and choose adobePDF.
    save blank form.
Open in acrobat: Go to Create Form or online Form.
Have the forms creator create the form if all the items didn't create, manually add what is needed.
Finish Editing for and close Form Editor.
Now click in signature field and it will turn an awful color yellow-greenish brown. then you will see a box pop up put in your password click okay. If you typed it right you'll see your digial signature.
Be sure to fill in items  and get them right before signing. because once you get out of editting and sign You can't make corrections or rather if you refill out or change anything it puts up a note say although signed  content has been altered.
So you don't necessarily have to use on a Form you can simply put a signature panel in a regular PDF and then sign.

  • Adobe PDF Reader 2010

Hi all, I just received an email offering me the latest PDF Reader 2010. I am a bit suspicious, especially since I can't find any reference to it on the Adobe website. The link it wants me to click on to go and down load it is [url removed by host].
Does anyone know whether this is legitimate or a scam to make me download something detrimental to my PC???
PLEASE - DON'T CLICK ON THE LINK UNLESS YOU KNOW FOR SURE IT IS SAFE.
I have added the text for the link but the editor seems to have turned it into a hyperlink.
    Thanks

    Hi Barcode54,
I too received that same email this morning and was immediately suspicious as it was sent to an email address that I don't use for my Adobe product registration. Well, that and a domain name as clumsy as adobe-pdf-reader2010.com smells strongly of spam, or worse.
A quick whois search reveals that the domain name adobe-pdf-reader2010.com is registered to an individual in New York. Furthermore, the registered Gmail email address (zzztommyzzz) is used in 17 other domain name registrations, all with equally dodgy names like Adobe-pdf-2010.info, Adobe-pdf-support.com and Pdf-adobe-2010.com. Safe to say this is most likely a phishing scam, so I'd avoid clicking on that link.

  • How to install Adobe PDF toolbar in Internet Explorer after uninstalling IE 10 and installing IE 9

Hello.  I need help installing Adobe PDF convert web page to pdf toolbar to my Internet Explorer 9.  I uninstalled Internet Explorer 11 and 10 because I could not open pdf files in IE 10 or 11 -- trying to open pdf documents froze/locked up Internet Explorer and I had to use Task Manager to exit Internet Explorer every time I tried opening a pdf document.  I have downgraded to IE 9 with the hope that I will have better luck.
I am using Windows 7 operating system.  I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro installed on my computer.
Now that I downgraded to IE 9, I've lost the Adobe convert web page to pdf toolbar.  It is not even in my choice of add ons in Internet Explorer when I go to Manage Add Ons.  How do I get the Adobe toolbar add on back?
I lost my Adobe Acrobat X Pro disk so do not have that to help me in any way.  What can I do?
    Your help is greatly appreciated!

If it is an issue of the AA X disk, you can download from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Be sure to create a replacement CD in case it is not available in the future. You will still need your S/N for any reinstall. You can usually get that from the Adobe site as long as you registered Acrobat (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html).
