Adobe PDF Font problem

Im using Adobe reader on a MacBook running Lion OS X v 10.7.3 and printing on an Epson Artisan 837. I cant print a PDF without the font printing in one location as if all vharacters are stacked on on top of the other.

Arial is one of the fonts that is not embedded by most of the job options in distiller. Create a new joboptions file that allows arial to be embedded.

Pdf fonts problem in 10.6.7 - resolved in 10.6.8 combo update?

The pdf fonts problem in 10.6.7 forced me to go through the long uninstall process after a couple days stressing over what the problem was -- it was Adobe tech support that finally informed me what the problem was. Is the problem fixed in the 10.6.8 combo update? Since I got no replies when I asked this question a different way yesterday, can anyone say (for helpful answer points) whether Apple would be inclined to answer this question if I just call them up (i.e., without existing AppleCare)? Any other suggestions for getting official support on this question? As it stands, I fear updating at all, and could be stuck with 10.6.6 for a long time.

10.6.8 combo & 10.6.7 pdf fonts problem

Does the 10.6.8 update combo correct the pdf fonts problem that was inherent to 10.6.7? After a couple days of stress I had to do the lengthy 10.6.7 uninstall process in order to refine my doctoral dissertation. This has made me gun-shy & fearful of updates. Is it safe to update now?

PDF font problem on Solaris (Reports9i)

Hi.
We are recently moving our application from 9ias Release 1 to 9ias Relese 2. After several configuration problems I was managet to get most of it to running, but encountered big problem with Reports. In Reports6i we used font aliasing, and included several modified fonts with AcrobatReader3. With AcrobatReader5 it's not posible because of more strict checking of PDF standard.
Then of course with Reports9i we start using PDF font subsetting. After added several ttf's (Arial, Courier New, Times New Roman) it started working fine with one exception. Report created with plain Courier New 10pts is not subsetted - in pdf i receive fixed-bold 12 pts.
It happening only with this one size of font. Courier New with size 10 pts and bold or italic looks good. When I change size to 9 or 11 pts - it's ok. I've checked if fonts existed in Xserver - they are.
I double checked uifont.ali - it's ok. I've temporarily solved the problem by changing font in builder on Windows from Courier New to Courier (same size), and then everything works ok. Of course it might be solving - but for the amount of work (about 200 reports) I'm looking for more 'normal' solution.
Any ideas?
Reports server working on Sun Sparc Solaris 5.8, 9ias Release 2 (Patch 2).
Builder works on WindowsXP, 9ids Release 2 (Patch2).

Reports 6 or Reports 9? Note that Reports 6 does not generate
syntactically correct RTF for Unicode characters.
We've been running with a postprocessor to correct the RTF and
to change the Oracle-set font to Arial; I'll be watching to see if
there's a better way since our postprocessor shouldn't be needed.

Adobe professional 8 - adobe pdf printer problem

Running windows 7 64 bit enterprise edition and have installed adobe professional 8. When I fx. want to print a file to the "adobe pdf" printer the job newer is finished. It is just stay in the printer que, and nothing happends.
Have tried to remove the Adobe XI reader, that was installed, if it could be any conflict but did not help. I also tried with a repair of whole adobe prof. package, but still the same problem.
If I look on the adobe pdf printer and look on which port it is printing to it is standing as LPT1 ? - is that correct. There is not any other adobe pdf port available if I would like to create one.

The updates are critical when using an old version. Even older versions can be made to work in 32-bit systems, but have to have workarounds. However, folks have reported success for AA8 with both 32 and 64-bit systems, but the updates were critical.

PDF Font Problems

I am exporting an Adobe InDesign file to a PDF. When I take the PDF file to computers other than my own to print, fonts get messed up and lost. How can I correct this problem?

Not sure about where to find this in InDesign but when converting a Word document to PDF you need to go into File > Options > Save > Embed fonts in the file.
I would imagine that InDesign has a similar setting.

IPad export to PDF font problems

Hi guys, would really appreciate any help you can provide on the following:
So I can happily create wonderful documents on pages or keynote. The issue is when I export then to PDF which is by far, what I think is the best option as it seems to retain the layout and picture options etc, it. Seems that when I email this to people who don't have mac's the fonts on the PDF cannot be viewed.
It seems that basic fonts are ok like arial, but anything that is somewhat interesting like apple gothic or even helvetica cannot be displayed.
Does anyone have a solution to this, ie. Is there somewhere I could direct people to go to download apple fonts, or worse case is there anyway I can print from my pc, retaining the font.

Unfortunately, the feedback link is next-of-kin to useless. Getting no response from them, and not knowing how many others have similar complaints is just pi**ing in the wind. If I am going to go to all the trouble to analyze a problem in detail and document the parameters, I am not going to just "throw it over the fence" and hope for the best.
To that end, I just got off the phone with Apple Support. They are aware of the problem and have a team working on it.
After discussing the issue at length, it seems that the best work-around is to use the iwork.com sharing gimmick. View the files from a browser and print (if needed) from the browser.
You cannot use the "download as PDF" from iwork.com, because it generates corrupted PDFs, just like iPad does.
It is also possible to be VERY selective about the fonts that are used when creating a document from scratch, but there is no easy way to know which fonts will work and which ones generate embedding errors.
In my experience, most of the new document templates will NOT work.
Anyway, the upshot is that there will be an update to the iPad Apps that will fix the problem. They do not know when that will be.
It is suggested that the more complaints that they get about the issue, the faster it will be fixed. It is POSSIBLE that the feedback link may do something in this regard.

Pdf font problem

Good afternoon to everyone I have a problem with this pdf article http://hotfile.com/dl/86909478/7a0c189/Eye_10_DuoTrav_vs_Xalacom_24-hr_XFG.pdf.html when I use acroread 9.4-1 maverick, at first I get this message: `Cannot extract the embedded font IODIOB+AdvFrutiger-L. Some characters may not display or print correctly.` and the result is strange font in specific parts of the article (eg at the part of the authors), though the main structure of the article has not been disturbed. using evince or okular things are worse and the problem relates to whole article including the structure. using pdftohtml, the browser reads exactly as acroread. using pdfedit and then gedit to open it as html the problem seems more complicated and I get reports for a large number of repeated errors: Error: Couldn't create a font for 'IODIOB+AdvFrutiger-L' Error: Couldn't create a font for 'IODIOC+AdvPalB' Error: Couldn't create a font for 'IODIPI+AdvPalR' My OS is Linux Mint 10 64bit Any ideas?

The "security" features of PDFs are totally illusory.
There are readily available, legal programs that will circumvent them. For instance: with PDFKeyPro I can create a decrypted, completely unsecured copy of any encrypted or "secured" PDF you care to throw at me in a matter of seconds.
So, it all depends on how determined they are.

Adobe PDF email problem

Hello all, I use "Scansoft" to create pdf's of excell sheets, I then just click on email to create an email to send using "Thunderbird"
I've used this method without fail over the last few years. The problem I now have is as I click on email after creating the PDF an error message from "Adobe" pops up stating "an error occurred while sending mail. What would normally happen after hitting the email icon is a new email compose sheet would pop up with the PDF attached ready for me to add the email address it is to go to. I spent a frustrating hour and 20 minutes yesterday on the phone to the Adobe help line without success.

I am not sure about some of the recent changes in email with AA9, but prior versions of Acrobat send mail to the default MAPI client. If you do not have a current MAPI client, then the email option will fail. Check the manual for further details.
Here is a short statement from the AA5 manual:
"E-mailing documents from Acrobat
You can send an e-mail message from Acrobat with a PDF document as an attachment. In Windows, Acrobat uses the Messaging Application Program Interface (MAPI) to communicate with your e-mail application. Most e-mail applications come with a MAPI server to handle this interface. Before you begin, make sure that your e-mail application is working outside Acrobat, and set it up to use its MAPI server.When you choose the Send Mail command in Acrobat, the MAPI server opens a new outgoing message with the current PDF document attached. For information on running the MAPI server and on setting options that affect the attached PDF document, see the documentation that came with your e-mail application."
Check your manual for similar information. It should be listed in the index.

Emailing Adobe PDF Form Problem

I have created a fillable form in Adobe Acrobat Pro v9 and I want to be able to send it individually to people to complete and email back to me in order to gather data. I'm testing it and it will not allow the recipient to save the file using Adobe Reader once they've completed it in order to email it back. I have enabled the Extended Features for Reader, but that has not solved the problem. Is there any way I can do what I'm needing using just Adobe Acrobat? After doing some research I discovered LiveCycle, but I work on a Mac and I don't see that they have a Mac version. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Adobe PDF Document problem

I have a new laptop computer that came with Adobe
Acrobat Reader. Every time I try to download a document, the computer freezes for about 3 minutes. Then I get this message:There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again. When I close that box, and one other behind it, the document that I want is there and everything works fine. Does anyone know how can I correct this problem?

PDF print problems Preview Fails but Adobe Reader works?

Hello All,
I'm having issues printing pdf documents, it appears to be a Font problem, that is when I print from Apple's Preview 7.0 the document prints, but the spacing of characters is wrong, some symbols are missing etc. When I print from Adobe Reader 11.0.07 the documents look normal.
More Details: All pdfs generated using Latex fail this way, so it might be an issue there. PDFs generated from iWork's Pages 5 print fine UNLESS I copy the Latex images into them then they print incorrectly again.
I suspect the issue is with Apple's Preview missing a font, although I'm not sure that's it nor how to fix it. Adobe prints without any issues at all.
I am using OS 10.9.4 on a 2009 iMac. I am printing to a HP Laserjet M4555 over Bonjour Service.

Unfortunately this has not solved the problem. I ended up disabling them all and ultimately deleting the duplicates. Adobe works so that is my work around for now, although I prefer Preview.

Problem Printing To Adobe PDF Printer Acrobat PRO 9

I have the following problem , a Windows XP Pro PC SP2 with Adaobe Acrobat 9 pro installed.
Starting Acrobat seems to work.
Printing to the Acrobad PDF printer gives always error message that is is not possible to print to the Printer.
Try to print a test page
Check if the printer is on
Reinstall the printer.
I have deinstalled the full Acrobat , rebooted the PC , reinstalled the Acrobat 9 Pro. Same problem. It is not possible to print from for example Word, Wordpad,..... to the ADOBE PDF printer.
Any suggestions ?

Hello,
When i open for example Word, and try to print from there to the PDF writer like you proposed.
I select print to file.
There is a warning something about PS fonts. After clicking this away.
There is a error that it is not possible to print but the filename I have given is Created (.prn)
Opening The distiller, when I click there open. I don’t have the possibility to select my file because the distiller is closing directly without any warning.
When I go to Services , Acrotray is listed.
So the ACrobat 9 is Creation Nothing at all, it is just the main program that i can start, scan from scanner is no problem wut when saving the Actobat is closing.
The acrobat is upated to the latest version.
Is it possible that the Windows XP is corrupt ?
Can you proved me with a solution ?
