Adobe PDF HELP

hey guys i have updated my old adobe pdf from version 1.5 to 2.5 but now i have got 2 adobe pdf programs and i cant uninstall the old version for some reason, could anyone please help me.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Unfortunately the old version cannot be removed because it's part of the phones firmware.
The 2.5 version is a badly written piece of software. It does not remove or disable the old version.
I believe that quickoffice (the company that makes this program) still haven't fixed the bug that opens web based pdf files in the old version instead of the new.

Be sure Safari does not have the Block Pop-Up Windows preference set.
Where I work now there are several unencrypted VLANs that require authentication, and Safari promptly pops up a window for me to register every time.

  • Want to get Adobe PDF Helper Deleted From My Computer!

Today I was trying to print a coloring page for my son and ended up loading Adobe PDF Link Helper onto my computer somehow.  Now I can't print anything, it just brings up a Save As screen with my document.  I just want it deleted and to go back to normal so that I can easily print again!  Any help??

If its IE then you can go to IE Settings->Manage Add-ons and Disable Adobe PDF Link Helper. Check the same with other browsers, if you have one.

  • Purpose of Adobe PDF Link Helper

I have an idea of what this browser add-on does.
    AcroPDF.dll
    Adobe PDF Browser Control
AKA  Adobe Acrobat Sharepoint OpenDocuments Component
    AKA PDF Browser Control
Apparently if I disable it PDFs embedded in a page with the <embed> tag fail to function properly.
However, I can't find anywhere accurate documentation on what this add-on below does.
    AcroIEHelperShim.dll
    Adobe PDF Link Helper
AKA Adobe PDF Helper for Internet Explorer
    AKA AcroIEHelperShim Library
IE9 seems to work flawlessly without it.  PDF's still open within the browser with it disabled.  Only if I uncheck Display PDF in Browser in Readers preferences does that cease.
So, can someone (hopefully Adobe) entlighten me on what this add-on does, and why I shouldn't just have all employees have this disabled by default?

I do not see either PDF Link Helper or                Adobe Acrobat SharePoint Open Documents Component in 64 bit IE9.  I see them both in the 32 bit version.  Are they both for displaying in a browser?  The root issue I am trying to solve is getting the SharePoint 2010 Acrobat X integration to work,  The original symptom was that a user would check out a pdf  file from a SharePoint library, edit it (using the comment feature in Reader) and then Save or Check In.  Either action would result in a Cannot Access the Network error.  Looking at the HTML traffic in Fiddler showed the error text had nothing to do with the problem, which seemed to be about attribute values.  Anyway, I put this on the back burner for a couple months and returned to it recently.  It now works on my machine in a 32 bit browser.  (ACCEPTABLE RESTRICTION).    My coworker still gets the original error.  I poked around and found the SharePoint Open Documents add-on on my machine and not hers and suspect it has something to do with the difference in behavior.  So I am trying to find out what it is supposed to do and if it really is relevant, how to cause it to be downloaded on other people’s machines.  I have been through the server configuration steps listed in Chapter 13 of the Acrobat Admin Guide.

  • How do I get adobe pdf to connect and appear back on Microsoft Oulook next to the help button?

Adobe Acrobat 9 is on most of our computers and is connected

    Hi "law12",
Could you please check if PDFMaker(s) are supported on the version of Office installed on that m/c? Kindly refer http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html.
If it is a supported version, check if the PDFMaker Add-In is not disabled somehow: Go to HELP > DISABLED ITEMS > Check for the PDFMaker entry, if it is there, enable it > re-launch Outlook.
    Thanks!

Great help from a nokia forum
The problem is that companies who are offering a company forum on the internet don't realize that THEY have to get involved too, not only by setting up a forum and leaving the users alone. Unfortunately a lot of companies are doing that, they probably hope that this is the cheapest solution to offer online support for their customers (customer helps customer...). Bad thing to do.
Well, getting back to your problem: I'm afraid you need to hard reset your phone and try again.
I have serious problems with the Adobe Reader in the N93 or any other Series 60 3rd Ed. phone too because it doesn't seem to "like" larger files. This seems however to be Adobe's problem, not Nokia's problem. On the other hand I wonder if Nokia ever tested the Adobe Reader in their phones because when I try to open a 3 MB .pdf file, I'm running out of memory.
Taking a look at the current Nokia products, I can't help to notice a pretty big difference in product/software quality from one phone model to the other. Maybe this has to do something with different development teams working on a phone or another but Nokia's reputation is taking a deep plunge downwards if they don't succeed to increase product and FW quality, even from the start of a new phone.

  • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro PC with Windows 7 - error mess "Adobe PDF Printer - not available" Help?

Just loaded my old Acrobat 7.0 Professional on new PC with Windows 7 - Error message "Adobe PDF Priner not available.  Therefore do not have option of Adobe printer when using Word.
Any ideas as to what  - if anythjing I can do?

    Hi,
Technically acrobat 7 not not designed for windows 7 OS. You can try to install the pdf printer manually but it's not guaranteed :
Click the Windows "Start" menu, select "Control Panel," choose "Hardware and Sound," click the "Add a Printer" link under Devices and Printers.
Click "Next" and select "Local Printer Attached to This Computer."
Remove the check from "Automatically Detect and Install My Plug and Play Printer" and click "Next."
Select "My Documents\\*.pdf (Adobe PDF)" in the port selection drop-down menu and click "Next."
Select the "Have Disk" option and click the "Browse" button to open a dialog box.
Select the "AdobePDF.inf" file located in the AdobePDF folder in your Program Files directory under "Adobe" | "Acrobat 9.0" | "Acrobat" | "Xtras."
Select the first item on the list of Adobe PDF Converter options and click "Next."
Type "Adobe PDF" in the field for a printer name and click "Next."
Wait for two minutes for the system to process the drivers and click "Finish" to close the Add a Printer wizard.
    Hope this helps.

  • Try to convert doc to PDF, Unable to find "Adobe PDF resourse files, Ask help

    Hi guys,
I am tryng to convert word doc file to PDF by acrobat v9.0 pro, I got the message as "Unable to find "Adobe PDF resourse files", and "Acorbat could not open 'filename' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged ...".  I did several times to run the installer to repair it,  and remove and re-installed several times with different folders  for the Adobe acrobat. I also did check the setting by "Preferences" under the item "Edit'. But nothing changed. I use it for generating and merging 1 or more doc files into a PDF file, so the micorsoft word which can make PDF file or use PDF printer is not useful for my object. Any ideas and helps? I really appreaciate anyone can give me help, Thanks a lot.

You don't need Acrobat for this at all.
If you select "Print..." there is a "PDF..." button in the lower left corner of the dialog. Click the button and select "Save as PDF..." or you can do "Open in Preview..." and save from there.
OS X has had the ability to generate PDFs since the 10.0 days. The whole graphics infrastructure is based on PDFs. You have no need whatsoever for Acrobat on the machine to do this.

    Run the cleaner, reinstall.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
And don't bother with running any updates unless you really need them or they fix a critical issue relevant to your workflow.

In MAC, I want to change document size from 8.5X11 to 18X24 to create a poster to print through Staples. I created the doc originally in WORD, changed the size in WORD, converted to PDF doc. But PDF doc is still in 8.5X11. Read ADOBE support help info. Terls me to change size in application rather than printer. BUT ACROBAT Pro does not give me a page set up option in FILE. I can only find one in the printer dialog box. Help!

from the FAQs on Staples website:
I have a file that I know is a PDF, but the website claims it is not in a PDF format. What should I do?
Check to see that the file has the .PDF extension. Also, check that the filename does not have any special characters such as an ampersand (“&”).
Regarding your measurements set to centimeters rather than inches; is it just in MS Word?
Or does it occur in all other applications.
    Check your Work preferences first:
If it is happening in all your applications, check your Mac OS System Preferences.

  • Does the TouchScreen (TS) version of Adobe PDF work on PCs without TS functionality? Acer & Microsoft saw fit to pack my HD with GIGs of NOware, which apparently left no room for essential globally used applications like Adobe PDF. Thanks for helping.

I guess I will download and try it myself. I am not used to Windows - especially WIN 8.*.  If I did not choose an appropriate category, will a moderator please move my question? I appreciate everyone's help.  Thanks.

The product is called Adobe Reader (Adobe PDF are the files it reads, and Windows 8 comes with a primitive reader called Microsoft Reader).
You can run either Adobe Reader, the same one as older Windows systems, or Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8, from the App Store.
It uses the new look of Windows 8 apps - like running full screen and hiding all the controls. These are in my view an appalling mistake by Microsoft best ignored.

Part of the problem in helping is likely that there is no program Adobe -- that is the company name. You are in the Acrobat forum, but it sounds like you have subscribed to Export PDF or such, a different program. The subscription to Acrobat is currently $19.99 per month.

For MS Visio (any version) only the appropriate version of Acrobat *PRO* provides PDFMaker for Visio.
For Visio 2013 specifically you must have Acrobat XI Pro (updated to at least 11.0.1).

In installation process of Acrobat Professional 7 , its showing that Adobe Pdf printer is not Installed...need help to install the software completely

If it is Win 7 or later, the Adobe PDF printer for AA 7 will not install and AcroTray will not function. You will have to install a PS driver from Adobe or maybe an HP color PS printer driver. Then edit the driver properties and change the name to Adobe PDF and the port to FILE. You will always have to do an extra step in creating PDFs by opening the file that is created in Distiller to get the PDF.
If you are talking about Win 8, you may not be successful at all. If you got Acrobat and Distiller to install, then there is a chance.
