Adobe PDF missing paper sizes

We are on Acrobat 9 and have Adobe PDF printer listed in our printers and drivers. There are many paper sizes missing in Printing preferences / Adobe PDF Page Size.
I know that I can click Add and then include A0, A1, A2 & A3 but I would like an enterprise solution please. Ideally, I don't want to visit each of the 130 PCs to manually change this setting to include paper sizes.
Please can you let me know to solve this please.

You could have done this when you deployed initially but I don't see a way to do this after the fact.

  • How to allow domain users to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences

    Hi
I am able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences in admin login but not able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domian users login...
can I have a solution to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domin user login

WOW! I was amazed to see that within minutes of posting my initial thread, I tried something that works.
Apparently, the only way is will actually convert is if you select the regular Print option in the File tab. Then, change the Printer to Adobe PDF & the Paper Size to 11x17. It also worked for 36"x48" becuase I created a custom size named "Poster", so I changed the paper size to Poster & it worked!
I hope this helps someone. I searched for an existing forum on this issue off & on for MONTHS before creating this thread. If anyone has any suggestions why the Adobe PDF tab /PDF Maker wouldn't work, I'd like to know.

  • Canon iR-ADV C7055 Missing Paper Sizes

We have a Canon iR-ADV C7055 using the imagePass A1 Fiery controller.
When I try to print tabs (9"x11") from Adobe InDesign CS5, I go to the Print dialog box, click Setup and click on the Paper Size drop down menu. Tab Paper (Letter) is missing, which does not allow me to choose the correct paper size. Tab Paper (A4) does show up, so I'm wondering if this is an issue with InDesign or the print driver itself.
I have confirmed that this is also an issue in Acrobat as well.

    Nathaniel Mccance wrote:
In the interest of curiosity, I created a document in InDesign CS4 to see if I could choose "Tab Paper (Letter)" and, lo and behold, there it was in the Adobe print "Setup" dialog box (but is peculiarly missing from the OS X "Page Setup" dialog box).
Tried ID CS4 also and could see the same paper sizes. CS4 must be referencing the different section of the PPD compared to OS X's page setup.
For some reason, InDesign CS5 does not see "Tab Paper (Letter)" as a Paper Size option.
Don't have CS5 to confirm this but if it is relying more on the OS X print system rather than doing it own thing, which CS4 and earlier certainly did, then this makes some sense.
One of the concerns I have with using the method prescribed by you is that when the page area is rasterized to the printer, it may cut off the image at the edge of the tabs that is not included in the "Letter" page size.
Understood but it is worth trying. I could only see this as an issue if you were trying to print on the tab ear.

  • Excel to PDF wrong paper size

    Hi,
when I convert an Excel file with A4 format (8,27 x 11,69 inches), the PDF creates Letter format (8,50 x 11,00 inches). I have changed the format in Adobe preferences to A4.
This only happens in Excel not in Word.
I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Office 2007
    Thanks

    Hi,
I had this same problem with my Acrobat 8 and yes, it's a bug in the Acrobat software.
After speaking on the phone to Adobe tech support, the issue came down to Acrobat ignoring user specified page/paper sizes in the PDF printer/PDFMaker/Acrobat Office plugin job options, and using the default "Adobe PDF Page Size" setting in the Adobe PDF printer preferences.
Check your default Adobe PDF printer settings (under Printers & Faxes --> Printing Preferences) and make sure the default page size is "A4" and NOT "Letter"
It's a bit of a hassle if you need to print/convert anything other than A4, as you'll have to change the default size each time.
Maybe Adobe will address this "bug" in a future update.
    Hope this helps.

  • Export to PDF and Paper size

    Hi,
I am using Crystal reports 10 and am exporting the report to pdf. I have set PrintOptions.PaperSize = PaperSize.PaperLegal in the asp.net code. The exported pdf looks good according to the paper size set but when I print the pdf it is printing in letter size. Please help. I want the pdf to print in the legal size.
    Thanks,
    Priya

    Hi,
Thanks for the response. It still did not resolve the problem. I use vb.net and I used the following code:
    Dim oPrinterSettings As System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings
                    oPrinterSettings = New System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings()
                    'oPrinterSettings.PrinterName = ""
                    Dim oPaperSize As System.Drawing.Printing.PaperSize
                    For Each oPaperSize In oPrinterSettings.PaperSizes
                        If oPaperSize.PaperName = "Legal" Then
                            objReportDocument.PrintOptions.PaperSize = CType(oPaperSize.RawKind, CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSize)
                            Exit For
                        End If
                    Next
After this I am actually exporting the report to pdf which then opens in adobe pdf reader. I do not use crystal reports viewer. Adobe print dialog always show the letter size. There is an option in page handling -> Choose paper size by pdf page size in the print dialog in adobe. If I choose that then the preview changes to legal but I am not able to set the paper size to legal programmatically.
    Thanks,
    Priya

  • Acrobat 9 Standard missing paper sizes.

I recently had Acrobat 9 Standard installed on my work computer.  Previously I had CS4 with Acrobat Pro installed but had to transfer the license to a coworker.  I'm now frustrated because all of the page sizes that I typically use are gone.  All fo the Arch and Ansi sizes are missing.  In the print preferences dialog I tried to add a new page size called Arch E1 and I got an error saying "Not allowed to modify system or printer defined paper size (Arch E1).  Only user defined paper size can be modified or deleted."  Apparently acrobat knows that Arch E1 is a standard paper size but its not available in the paper size selection menu.  I can go through and make a bunch of new custom paper sizes and give them alternate names but that's a little bit frustrating to have to go through and set up my own paper sizes when Acrobat already knows they exist.  I guess my question is how do I get Acrobat 9 Standard to show the Arch and Ansi paper sizes?

Unfortunately, this is only available when using the Pro. version of Acrobat.

  • "Save to Adobe PDF" missing in Mac print dialog

I've just upgraded to a new machine, and the "Save to Adobe PDF" option is missing from the PDF drop-down menu in the print dialogue.  I'm running Mac OS 10.8.3 and CS 6.  I believe that Acrobat X is supposed to automatically install this option into the main print dialog; what can I do to get it installed if it got left out of the initial CS6 installaion?

OK thank you.  I feel like I'm still not quite getting my question across.  I don't think that PDF Maker is what I was using last week before I got a new machine; wasn't that the thing that showed up in the upper portion of the Print dialog, in amongst your physical printers?  That is not what I was using.  I was using the Save to Adobe PDF.app (an Automator app) that stays in the PDF Services folder in the Library.  You access it via the PDF button in the bottom left of the Print dialog.  This was using Acrobat 9 and OS 10.6.
Your description above makes it sound like when I go to that button I would get a contextual menu that lets me choose the quality of the PDF.  I don't have that choice.  This is the contextual menu I get under PDF in the Print dialog:
I used to have an additional entry there in the middle section called Save to Adobe PDF.  That brought up a dialog with a drop down menu that showed all of the preset settings I have made for PDF creation, and I could choose my quality there, choose a location, and save.  I had full control over all the settings.  I just need a choice that brings up that dialog, and Save as PDF doesn't do it (it just uses the native OS PDF generator).
The second method does not work on my machine either.  If I try to drag a Word doc into Acrobat it tells me it is not a supported file type, and says "To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF."  this indicates to me that somewhere I should still have the ability to choose Adobe PDF rather than Mac OS PDF.
I can save to PostScript and drop the file onto Distiller -- as long as the Distiller settings are set correctly already, because it starts creating the PDF immediately with no dialog in between to make choices.  I can live with that, but I would rather have my Automator workflow back to do it in one step.  (sadly I don't know enough about Automator right now to easily do this myself, but maybe this is a good chance to learn.)
I know that I have seen this workflow mentioned as something that is installed along with Acrobat X but maybe people are mistaken about that and it was just left over from a previous install.  I know for sure that the workflow that was working on the old machines was outdated; it was 32-bit and can't even be opened in the current version of Automator.  So the old one clearly won't work any more.  For now I'm going to set up a Distill folder on my desktop with the settings I use most often, and direct my PS files there.
Thanks for the detailed reply even though I can't quite make it all work!

Your comment all software is up to date is wrong.
Unless You using a PowerPC Machine  OSX up to 9.1
Acrobat X may be at 10.1.8  but the newest available is Acrobat 11.0.4
And what seriously out of date and may be causing your issues is That Office2011 is up 14.3.9 By using out of date application may cause part of your issues. Note it does take a Long time to process a Large document
If you can get the PDF to open
Look for and Choose Optimized PDF or PDF Optimzer
click fonts if you see any duplicate Fonts
example two or three copies or more of say Helvetica Bold Italic
click on all but one of them and move to unembed
Repeat with all Fonts that have duplicates.
    Then click okay when done.
This issue can be caused by older versions of software.
But if downloaded from a PC the number one reason is that unlike Mac in which your old allowed one copy of a Font/Font Family. PC doesn't care how many copies fonts there are on the computer. Whatever app just choose one to use at that moment. So you could have 20 versions of Helvetica bold Italic and the syetem doesn't care.
I've received PDF from PDF's from PC's and there have been as many as 10 copies of one font.  Once optimized the files size went down.

  • Adobe InDesign CS6 Paper Size

How to increase the Custom Paper Size to 24 inches by 24 inches? The product doesn't allow more that 1296 pts i.e. 18 inches. In Adobe InDesign 2.0, the product was allowing bigger sizes.

Here's a good answer (and no, I used InDesign 2.0, and I'm sure they did not reduce the maximum document size):

  • Adobe PDF missing from printer list in all cs4

    Hi there
I have cs4 and have noticed in illustrator and photoshop that adobe PDF has suddenly disappeared from my drop down list when I go to print.
    Any help much appreciated!

I used to lose the printer in my vista regularly, but it always came back with a restart. The repair does help. I have not had the problem in quite a while. Glad the repair worked for you.

  • PB printing with Adobe PDF, missing text, different colors

    Hello,
I use Adobe Reader 9, I tried with the latest updates: the same
On some pdf docs I print missing parts of the entire text.
And I have also some areas of color deviations between what I have on the screen and on paper. I tested different printers and PC: the same.
It works with Foxit reader. What makes that it does not work with Adobe Reader? Have you ever encountered such a pb?
(I can not keep Foxit Reader on my business PC)
    thank you for your answers
    Nico

Could you please test this with Reader X. See if that works.

  • PDF Printer Page Size Limitation

I have been creating documents in Microsoft Publisher 2007 & have been trying to convert them to PDF via the Acrobat PDF Maker. When I am dealing with 11x17 & Poster size (36"x48"), the PDFMaker gets into the Converting Process (60%) then displays the following option:
PDF Page Size in Adobe PDF printer is small causing pages to be split.
Press OK to convert without preserving transparency, bookmarks & links.
Press Cancel to choose a bigger sheet (at least 17.00 by 11.00 inches)
I hit cancel & have changed every Page Size option I can find including:
the Change Conversion Settings, in the Adobe PDF tab in Publisher
Conversion Settings: (Created custom setting with default page size)
Printers & Faxes in Control Panel
    Adobe PDF Printer
    Printing Preferences
Changed default settings & page size
I even changed the output paper 11x17
Yet, it never fails to try to convert everything into letter size. It seems as though it won't do anything over Letter size.
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard & running Windows XP.

  • Incorrect A4 size when creating print preset for adobe PDF?

    Hi
I've run into a strange "issue", which I'm trying to understand.
If I create a new document in InDesign CS4 (or CS5) in papersize A4, the size is obviously 210mmx297mm. All is good.
If I want to print this document as a postscript document, to a file, I create a new Preset.
    1) File->Print Presets->Define
    2) New
    3) Printer: Adobe PDF
Now if I select the Setup option the paper size says A4, but the size is: 209,98mm x 297,039.
Anybody care to explain why it's not a "correct" A4 size?
    Thanks in advance!
    Ruvan

Guys, I really appreciate the time and effort.
I haven't done the math, but I think its still a little strange that the width is a little too small and the height a little too big.
Anyway, what I also think is a bit strange is that if I select a real printer physical printer, not Adobe PDF, then the sizes are all correct.
    Thanks
    Ruvan

  • Reader OLE server does not draw PDF-document if paper size is too big

If PDF document paper size is for example A0 (841 x 1189 mm) OLE object can be created and application shows PDF content correctly. But if application saves it's document and reopens it Reader does not draw content of embedded PDF document any more. Decreasing PDF document size to A1 solves the problem. Embedded object is not corrupted because it is possible to open it to Reader.
I'm confused why Acrobat Reader OLE server is capable of drawing PDF file content in creation phase but not later on when application opens same file containing embedded PDF objects.
"Application" means all possible application that has OLE support. I have tried this with three different applications and the behavior is same with all applications. Because of this I assume that application I'm developing does not have bug.

    Hello Sig
The scanner works with a Windows computer, which proves the device is functional at a cursory level. The drivers are now distributed by Apple and this is an Apple computer. There is no scanning software provided by HP. HP's answer is that Mountain Lion takes care of all of this.  I anticipate that some setting or driver was somehow tweaked since the scanner had been working with Mountain Lion until a few days ago.  The device in question is an Apple product. So, I'm pretty confident that I'm in the right place.

  • HP LaserJet MFP M476dw paper size mismatch when copying or scanning from ADF

We have HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dw that has an issue when copying or scanning from the ADF.
Put a single A4 sheet in the ADF and choose copy, with all settings correct & no resizing, and the output copy is moved down the page (increased top marging by a couple of inches).
My initial thoughts were a paper size issue (e.g. treating A4 as Letter or vice versa) but all settings look correct.  I have even done a reset and started over and the problem remains.
If I take the original and place it on the flatbed and copy from there with all the same settings then it works fine.
There is a similar issue when scanning from the ADF.  Again, scanning from the flatbed works fine.
I've tried all I can think of.  Does anyone have any further suggestions?  Could it be a fault in the ADF?
