Adobe PDF not printing yosemite

Just added new Officejet 5740 to home network, everything works except won't print Adobe PDF documents. Ok with Preview, .docx etc.  Running 10.10.1 on iMac.  Prints blank pages.  I have run into this in the past with my office HP Laser printer, but was able to fix.  Any general fix for the current problem would be appreciated.  Note that we did a clean install from the disc and had been running 10.10.1 for a week or so.
This question was solved.

Hi,
May you see any difference by opening the PDF with Apple's Preview and printing it or do you get the same results?
From Adobe Reader also try clicking the Advanced button within the print dialog and check the Print as Image option, then check for ny difference.
Additionally, have you tried any other PDF file to check if the same happens or not?
Please let me know the results,
Shlomi

Solution 1: Use a supported installation.
The following are unsupported installations, and the supported solutions:
If you install Acrobat (Professional or Standard) on a 64-bit operating system, then you may
see this error. Please update Acrobat to version 8.1 or later. You can update from within
Acrobat via the help pull-down menu, or download the updater from the following location:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows.
If you install Acrobat to a shared network disk instead of a local hard disk, then the Adobe PDF
printer is not installed. Install Acrobat on a local hard disk.

If you install Acrobat to a directory with a path that contains extended ASCII or double-byte
characters, then English installations will display the error message. Install to a path that does
not contain extended ASCII or double-byte characters.
Solution 2: Ensure that the Print Spooler process is running and set to
    Automatic, and then repair Acrobat.
    1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Administrative Tools and then double-click Services.
    3. Locate the service Print Spooler.
    4. If the Startup Type is not Automatic, then set it to Automatic:
    a. Right-click the Print Spooler.
    b. Choose Properties.
    c. Choose the General tab.
    d. Choose Automatic in the Startup Type menu.
    e. Click OK.
    5. If the Print Spooler service is not running, then start it.
    a. Right-click the Print Spooler line.
    b. Select Start from the menu.
    6. Start Acrobat, and choose Help > Detect And Repair.
Solution 3: Ensure that the Print Spooler process has no additional
    dependencies.
Only the Remote Procedure Call dependency is required for Print Spooler to operate.
Additional Services can attach to the process but will interfere with restarting the service.
If the Print Spooler process has additional dependencies, then please refer to the steps
    below.
To remove all services listed under "This service depends on the following system
    components":
    1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Administrative Tools and then double-click Services.
    3. Right-click Print Spooler and choose Properties.
    4. Click the Dependencies tab.
    5. Record services under "This service depends on the following system components" and click
    OK.
Imporatnt: Remote Procedure Call is a system service and should not be removed.
    6. Temporarily remove associated programs for the listed services.
    7. Contact the service vendor for removal information if removal of associated software does
    not remove the service.
    8. Start Acrobat, and choose Help > Detect And Repair.
To disable all services listed under "The following system components depend on this
    service":
    1. Choose Start > Set

I am having similar problems. After years of successful use, about a year ago, my printer (Epson stylus Photo R300) stopped working. After much investigation, it appears my computer no longer recognizes my printer. I've followed resets, safe boots, uninstalls, reinstalls, etc. This happened so long ago, I don't recall what I was doing when it happened. I'm figuring it happened shortly after a Software Update... So far none of the fixes recommended to me have solved the problem. I've been using Epson customer support, but they've stopped responding. None of their suggestions have seemed to work either.

  • CS4 "Save as Adobe PDF" not working in Mountain Lion

CS4 Save as Adobe PDF not working in Mountain Lion
Just bought a new Mac with mountain lion, installed CS4 design premium twice trying to fix this. When you go to "print" then "Save as Adobe PDF" the process fails with a pop-up saying "An error occurred while saving the PDF file". I can still do the standard "Save as PDF" - but that usually results in a file size 10x larger than Save as Adobe PDF so it won't work for me; I need the small file sizes of Save as Adobe PDF.
When I go to Help > Repair Acrobat Installation it seems to be recognizing a repair needed with Adobe PDF Printer (see screenshot below); but when I go through the repair nothing changes it still won't work.
    Any help is much appreciated!

"Save As Adobe PDF" works fine in Snow Leopard.
Thanks for the link, but this is no help - I already have "Save As Adobe PDF" on the menu - the problem is when I click that it errors out...
I just think its sad that Adobe charges people $2000 and provides zero support for future updates; when I buy an iMac for half that amount of money or an iPhone I get operating system support and bug fix downloads to deal with the latest internet advances for years to come - but Adobe apparently takes your money and says sayonara! Is it really that hard to provide updates on $2000 worth of software for say 24 months??

  • Adobe will not print anything

Adobe has the absolute worst software on the planet. I’ve already banned it from one computer due to the complete inability to prevent Adobe from performing updates, including attempting to prevent this by altering the registry settings. The problem I am having now makes it appear I’ll have to find another program in order to merely print PDF files as I can’t even do that with my Adobe product.
I have Adobe X Standard installed on my laptop and just tried to print an already saved PDF file. Adobe doesn’t want to print the file and automatically opens a menu that tries to force me to save the file I already have saved as a PDF. Seriously? For starters, you can’t overwrite an open document so I’d have to save with a new file name, a clearly ludicrous concept.
In short, Adobe will not print anything on my computer regardless of whether it was saved previously, or is just a document I found on the internet and want to print without saving. What a total waste of money.

My HP printer is set as 'default', both in my printer settings as well as the program I am trying to print from (CAD program and you have to specify printer).
Adobe fooled me once and got me to open up my wallet; it won't happen again. Absolute worst software I have had in my 25 years of using computers.

  • Adobe PDF not working in N95

in my nokia N95 i m not able to open pdf files last 20 days i think adobe PDF not working properly i want to repair it but how i donn know? can anybody help me to get rid of this prob

I do not think that PDF Maker has been updated for IE9 yet. IE9 is a recent release and Adobe does not generally work on the final software until the release. They also have to be sure it still works with other products. In the meantime, try just printing to the Adobe PDF printer or opening the URL in Acrobat directly.

  • Error message in Adobe Pdf in printer device panel when trying to create a pdf document.  I have CS3

Error message in Adobe Pdf in printer device panel when trying to create a pdf document.  I have CS3 Web Premium with Acrobat Professional 8.  I use it fine on my old computer with Windows XP.  I recently got a new laptop with Windows 7.  I installed all my Adobe programs, and I think they are working.  When I look at Adobe PDF in the device section of the Control Panel it looks okay.  But when I try to print a Word, Photoshop, or HTML page in PDF, nothing happens.  I have tried printing both as File>print and using the PDF tab on the top menu bar.  I look at the device in the control panel and it has the yellow error warning symbol and suggests trying to troubleshoot.  I look at the document list and it says status "error".  When I try troubleshooting Windows suggests doing some Home Sharing and also suggests canceling the document I'm trying to print.  I tried re-installing just Acrobat 8 from CS3 (and have to use Photoshop CS4 disk for shared documents I guess).  I ran into a can't locate adobepdf_dll file, so did a web search on this issue and found a suggestion that I find and use the adobepdf_dll_64 file and may have to (I did have to) remove the "_64" for it to work.  I think I successfully reinstalled using that dll file- no errors came up anyway.  But still when I try printing/converting a photoshop, webpage, or word document into pdf, the pdf device in control panel still gives the error status on the document and gives the same troubleshooting advice.  Help?

I just compared the properties between the two computers.  On the old computer it has the port as "My Documents/*.pdf".  On my new computer it lists the port as "LPT1".  I tried changing the port to "Print as File", but when I try printing a photoshop picture as pdf, I get a "Access Denied".  I then tried to create a new port on the device control panel.  I tried to create a local port "My Documents/*.pdf" port but was denied.  I ten tried to create a new port type and control panel asked for an INF file.  I wonder if this is where my problem lies.  Thoughts?

  • How to make changes to Adobe PDF (Distiller) printer's printing prefrences programatically?

I want to change the "Default Setting" in the Adobe PDF (Distiller) printer's printing prefrences programatically. How can i do that?

    Why? I don't know :-)
When I compare the documents (single page 'export' vs booklet-spreads 'print booklet') at 800%, the images on the 'export' are crisp. The images on the booklet are seriously pixellated/unreadable.
If it *is* possible to get print-ready, I'd love to!
This is what I'm doing - any help is greatly appreciated.:

  • Adobe PDF converter printer driver not installed: No longer working.

I recently uninstalled and reinstalled my Epson printer and now my PDF converter isn't working.
I'm using Win XP and Adobe CS3 Design Standard. I tried several of the suggestions here on the forums on reinstalling PDF converter driver and or switching ports, but to no avail.

    Problem Solved !!!
    Printer Name: Adobe PDF
    Port: Adobe PDF Local Port
    Advanced: Driver: Adobe PDF Converter
Spool Print  and Start printing Immediately (Uncheck Send to Printer)
Once I got the above in place I was then finally able to install as noted below:
Try adding it manually: These instructions are for Windows 7 but I don't
think Vista's install varied much, if at all.
    1) Open the Devices and Printers dialog box and select Add a Printer
    2) Add a* Local Printer* at the next dialog box asking what type of printer
    you want to install.
    3. Select* Create  A New Port* at the Choose Printer Port and select* Local
Port at* the type of port dropdown menu.
    4. Click Next, then at the prompt name the Port "Adobe PDF" or whatever you
    prefer.
    5. Click OK and at the Install Printer Driver dialogue box, click Have
Disk and browse to *C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat
10.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF* folder and highlight the AdobePDF.inf file.
    Click Open, then OK.
    6.  When presented with a list of Adobe PDF Converter options, select the
first item from the list and click Next.
    7. Make sure the radio button is selected for Use the driver that is
    currently installed (Recommended) Click Next.
    8. The printer name dialogue box should default to Adobe PDF Converter, if
not change it to that exact name.
    9. Then click Next through remaining screens to install.
At this point, the printer should be installed.  Hopefully this helps.

  • In Design CS6 - pdf not printing right

    OSX 10.8.5
Adobe Creative Suite Design Standard / In Design v. 8.0.2  (latest update)
ISSUE:  Seems to have arisen right after I upgraded my Mac OS from Tiger to Mountain Lion.  Not sure if there's a connection, however.  I just did the latest update for CS6, so don't know if the prior version of InDesign led to the problem either (it was CS6 but I hadn't done an update for awhile).
Issue:  I created an InDesign page and then generated a press quality PDF for a commercial printer, who put it thru a RIP and then printed it.  My submitted PDF looked just fine, no issues that I could see.  However, on two occasions the pages printed with things missing…..in one case a header at the top and part (not all) of a block of text in the other.  On the second occasion, two bits of text within two separate text blocks were missing.  This NEVER occurred before, ever.  BUT….this has happened since upgrading to Mountain Lion OS and before updating CS6 to the 8.0.2 version I now have.
My printer said "In Design sometimes doesn't distill a PDF correctly", although this doesn't make sense as I've never had this happen before.  The fonts were fine, not protected, everything was present, all colors were fine, it was just sporadic missing text.  I've looked at everything and can't find any reason for this.
Has anyone got ideas about this?

Can we assume that you are exporting PDF, not somehow creating PDF via distillation of PostScript? PDF via distillation of PostScript is not reliable.
And exactly what PDF joboption preset did you use when you exported PDF?
Quite frankly, I somehow suspect that neither you, the MacOS version, the InDesign version, nor the PDF file itself are the problem.
The fact that your printer is mumbling about “In Design (sic) sometimes doesn't distill a PDF correctly” leads me to believe that your printer may be the problem. Quite often, printers muck around with perfectly fine PDF files, opening them in (gasp!) Adobe Illustrator “just to check things out and to ‘fix things’.” The problem is that usually there really isn't anything to fix and that Adobe Illustrator is not, repeat not, repeat yet again not a PDF file editor. The only PDF files that Adobe Illustrator can safely open and edit are PDF files saved from Adobe Illustrator if and only if the “save editability” option is selected when such a PDF file is saved. Otherwise, it is very possible that text and other PDF objects may be lost or otherwise modified, colors changed, etc. The damage occurs when the PDF file is opened in Illustrator and becomes permanent when such a file is saved, even if nothing is explicitly done to the file by the user!
Alternatively, your printer may have a wonky PDF workflow system with very out-of-date components or a very, very out-of-date RIP/DFE.
Generally speaking, if you can open the PDF file in Acrobat or Adobe Reader and print successfully to a local print device, you should have no problems of the type you describe.

  • Adobe PDF not showing in PPD

    Hi,
Does anyone know why "Adobe PDF" is no showing in the PPD section when defining a new Print Preset? At the moment i'm manually draging the PDF through Distiller, generally i can do this auatomatically through indesign, but it's all different on my new Mac.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated
    Cheers

The Article is great thanks! Explains allot, and i know now that it's a widespread issue. it doesn't quite resolve my problem (although it gets the PDF PPD showing up in inDesign which is great). InDesign still won't export to distiller and produce the PDF though.
No that's cool, We have to run all Ads and documents through Distiller for the Press, export doesn't cut it it's not a huge problem as it can be done manually, but it saves so much time when it's done via InDesign.
