Adobe PDF on Application Support for Leopard

All,
Just came across this... LR on the list of "needing an update" so expect errors. The Photoshop forum is indicating errors on CS3 as well. Guess I'm holding off on the install for a little bit. Some of this to be expected I suppose, but hopefully fixed soon.

While compiling my application on Flash CS6 with Air for iOS 3.4, I am getting the error given below:
The content cannot be loaded because there was a problem loading an extension: Error: Requested extension com.adobe.Vibration is not supported for Windows-x86.
I am using vibration.ane file which got it from Adobe (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/native-extensions-for-air/extensions/vibration.html)
Anybody out there who knows how to solve this problem!

1) The vibration ANE from Adobe does not support Windows.
2) The iOS simulator (adl) is not a virtual machine but rather it is a native Windows app, thus the platform your app runs on is Windows not iOS.
What Adobe needs to do to avoid confusing everyone is one of two things:
1) Include a stub for Windows (and MacOS) in the Vibration ANE.
2) Make it possible to deploy an app to a platform where the ANE is not supported, but produce a runtime error upon an attempt to use the ANE. The developer could then put logic in the app to detect the underlying platform and make adjustments.

Adobe PDF maker add-in for Word 2010 adding strange numbers to headings

Hi everyone,
I used the Adobe PDF maker add-in for Word 2010 to export a Word document to pdf. After saving the pdf, I noticed that the headings that are displayed in the navigaton pane now contain strange numbers, eg.
1.1 14BSecond level heading
1.2 15BSecond level heading
The above should be:
1.1 Second level heading
1.2 Second level heading
It's doing this for all second level headings in the document and when I save as a pdf file, these numbers are showing in the pdf bookmarks.
Does anyone know if this is a known bug with the pdf add-in and if yes, if there's any way to remove the numbers?

I am experiencing a somewhat similar problem. In my case the unwanted numbers are being prepended to the running headers at the tops of the pages.
So for example, I have some Heading 1 text that says Verifying the Required Account Settings. But in the running header, this shows as 11BVerifying the Required Account Settings.
Unlike the original poster, the 11B does not appear in the text itself - only in the PDF generated by Acrobat's PDF Maker.
This occurs with this document when output from either Word 2007 or Word 2010 and Acrobat X.

Support for the Nikon D750 was introduced in the latest version of LR 5.7 and ACR 8.7 on Novemder 18th 2014.
Further updates to LR 4 were stopped when LR 5 was released on June 9th 2013. No further updates for bug fixes and new camera support.
Nada, LR 4 will never support Nikon D750. The Nikon D750 was introduced into the market in September 2014 some 15 months after further development of LR 4 was discontinued.
You can use the Adobe DNG program (free download for the package) to convert the Nef (raw) files from your Nikon D750 to the Adobe DNG format which will permit you to import those into LR 4. This is the crutch provided by Adobe to allow for the processing of raw files with outdated versions of LR and ACR.
You can also update the ACR plugin for PS CS6 to version 8.7 which can also work with the raw files from the D750. For direct support in Lightroom you will need to upgrade (paid) to version 5.7.

Where is my application support for iWeb? I find no Library folder in my User area at all.

I need to transfer my iWeb site to my new Macbook Pro but cannot find any "Library" folder in my User area, hence no application support for iWeb and no domain.site to transfer. How can I transfer my site? Any help is appreciated.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.

WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Can't find Application Support for Address Book in Lion. Any ideas where to go?

I need to re-establish my Address Book after iCloud doubled all of the entries in it. But I can't find Application Support for Address Book in Lion.

Adobe PDF printer--multiple dialogs for the same settings

Please excuse if this question is painfully obvious, but I just can’t figure it out.
I’m working with FrameMaker version 8.0p277 (TCS).
As far as I can tell there are at least three places where I can setup preferences for my PDFs
From the Control Panel, I can right-click on the Adobe PDF printer and set two different joboptions depending on which menu item I choose (Printing Preferences or Properties/Advanced Tab).
However, when I want to create a PDF from my FrameMaker book or document, I use File>Print to open the Print dialog. When I choose the AdobePDF printer, clicking the Properties button opens the Adobe PDF Document Properties dialog. From the dialog’s Adobe PDF Settings tab I can choose from any of the joboptions in my Settings directory.
At the same time, I can select the Generate Acrobat Data option, click the PDF Setup button, and choose a completely different joboption from the Settings tab in the PDF Setup dialog.
Can someone please explain the difference between these options? And just which one gets priority if I print directly from FrameMaker to the Adobe PDF printer? (I assume if I print to file (.ps) the options I set in the Distiller get priority.)

Hi Wendy,
When you set the Preferences for the AdobePDF from the Control Panel via the Printers, these are then default system-wide settings for all applications in the absence of any other information.
From within FM, the Properties setting, when you select the Adobe PDF printer instance, takes you to the same Preferences dialogue as in the first condition. You're temporarily resetting the preferences for the FM session to use. However, this does not change your default preferences set at the system level nor does it affect any other application that is running.
The Generate Acrobat Data PDF Setup option is the last one in the chain and this provides the chance to specify an override for the session settings. This one has the highest priority.

Adobe PDF Print Engine2 Supported in VxWorks?

I am planning to Integrate Adobe PDF Print Engine in MFP/Printer for printing of PDF/Postscript Files. Can this be deployed in VxWorks.
(i.e. can I deploy PDF Print Engine2 in VxWorks Environment).

The Adobe PDF Print Engine doesn't support printing of PostScript at all. Please contact Adobe OEM sales if you are really interested in creating a PDF printing product using this technology. This is very off topic for this forum.

Can't use the Adobe PDF pack I paid for. Asks me to subscribe over and over!

i have been subscribed to the Adobe PDF for a couple months now, but for about two weeks now, the app won't let me convert word documents to PDF -which is what i pad for. Instead, whenever I click on the little icon, the subscribe for 9.99 dollar pops up, over and over again! I click subscribe, and a message appears, saying I'm already subscribed and that my service will be renewed every month (June 12 I believe) AND the service is still being paid for! how can you solve that?

In the Reader home screen, could you make sure that you are signed in with the Adobe ID that was used to pay for the subscription? (Please do not reveal your Adobe ID on this pubic forum here.)

Missing application support for download

I have lost my itunes and have tried unsuccessfully several times to uninstall, following the steps given of the component programs with itunes, but now I receive a statement after reinstalling that says Error 2, missing apple application support. How can I overcome this? I have installed all updates with windows as well, and rebooted the computer each time.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Good day to you, I was wondering why you have decided to opt out from the 10.5.X support of Leopard OS? It is still widely spread and I believe that this call has caused....many potential security problems.

Adobe Air 3.6 - Support for Windows Server 2008 R2?

Hello all,
Adobe lists "Windows Server 2008" in the list of supported operating systems.
We tested our application on a Win 2008 R2 terminal server and could'nt find any issues so far. Is there a reason why Adobe does not list "Windows Server 2008 R2" (64 Bit) in the supported platforms list?

Only Sapgui 720 is released for this Windows OS!
Also please note the Sapgui 710 is supported until the 12. of April 2011 !

Adobe's lack of support for government systems

So, I am a little frustrated. After almost two years of trying to get my director to buy off on the CC, he says he will do it. But here's the problem; I work for the DoD on a classified network. I was told that Adobe had a fix for this, but after an hour of sitting on the phone I have apparently found out otherwise. Does Adobe understand that some government users will NEVER be able to connect their systems to the internet? Not every 90 days, not once a year, NEVER. That's how it works. I am absolutely livid that I have been supporting Adobe for 15 years and am now being told they have no plan to find an option for loyal government customers.

Yah. That's what I figured. After trying to build the installer myself, I contacted one of our IT guys and he's been looking into it for the past week.
I'm not sure why it would be so hard for an actual Adobe person to build the installer with our serial number. I'm guessing they would succeed where I failed. Unfortunately, I had to attempt to build a Photoshop-only installer with the full CS6 suite download and AAME 3. It sounds easy, but there are several apps that are probably included with a Photoshop-only install, like Bridge and maybe some others I don't know about. Maybe I could have built the installer with the entire creative suite in it, then just checked the Photoshop box at install..?

HT1338 Lack of Support for Leopard users

Has Apple abandoned all Leopard users? I cannot get updated plug-ins for Safari and Firefox, therefore cannot access some internet sites. Seems Apple wants us to purchase Intel-based computers or be relegated to the trash can. I'd rather shift to PCs (after over 20 years with Apple) than submit to this extortion.

The last PowerPC Macs were made around 2005'ish (7 years ago when I got my PowerMac G5). I would not call that so much planned obsolesence. Rather more that PowerPC Macs ARE Obsolete!
And if you decide to switch to Windows, you will still be buying an intel chip, so intel wins either way (well I guess you could get an AMD chip, but it is still the intel instuction set).
Yes your PowerPC still works, and it can most likely continue to provide good service running Leopard, but just as my old car did not integrate with my iPod, it did not have hands free bluetooth phone integration, it did not have heated seats, etc..., your old PowerPC Mac is not going to support all the new computer tech features. Eventually you will need to replace it, and when you do, you get the current set of features from whatever Computer/OS vendor you choose to buy.
