  • Adobe PDF presets...

I have an ID file open... I go to File... Adobe PDF presets... smallest file size. The Save As dialog box comes up with a different file name than the file that I have open and trying to convert to a PDF. This happens occasionally... most the time the file name in the Save As dialog box is the same as the file I am working on. I've got 32 files to convert to PDFs and I don't want to type the file name in the Save As dialog box. How do I get it to work properly?

This happens because the file was previously exported with a name that didn't match and was subsequnetly saved, burning that name into the file. You can fix it so it defaults to the file name again by exporting to .inx or .idml and outlined in Remove minor corruption by exporting (but it isn't really a file corruption).

  • How do I load an Adobe PDF preset into Bridge?

With InDesign I go to File>Adobe PDF Presets>Define>Load. I would like to do the same thing in Bridge so that I am using a PDF preset that I choose instead of the default PDF preset that is in Bridge. I need to know that the PDFs generated from Bridge and InDesign are being generated with the same PDF preset. I am using Bridge CS5.5 on a Mac. Thanks.

I don't think you can do this… Bridge generates it's *.pdf files using the cached *.jpeg previews… Try with some vector files and you will see the result is nothing like ID… If you want them to be the same standard then use ID to make the contact sheets…

This fix worked on Windows Vista Business Edition (32-Bit).

I have windows XP media center. I uninstalled Acrobat 8 to download Acr 9 pro extended. No adobe printer was installed .
Tried the steps given here by Steve Lionel. I was able to add the "Adobe PDF Converter" as printer. Although after the 7th step in Steve's fix, the wizard asked me to search for some files (from XP CDrom) which I was able to locate in the Windows folder-drivers folder and the system32-spool folder.
I went to acrobat, opened a pdf file and tried to print with this printer and saved it on the desktop. A file appears, but adobe cannot open it however it activates adobe illustrator and opens in that program.
Lots of time has gone. No solution yet.
    Appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks
    Update!!!
I tried printing on this printer from a webpage and it converted the webpage like charm.
I am more than happy even if I get to use this printer to convert webpages to pdf as now I don't have to install those shady pdf converters and printer drivers.
This is good as the fix given here works even for XP.
    Thanks for this wonderful solution.

  • Why are the adobe pdf presets grayed out in photoshop?

Why are the adobe pdf presets grayed out in photoshop? I'm trying to save an image to "Press Quality" as a pdf and the settings are grayed out.

Maybe a screenshot of your Photoshop working area with the image opened, image tab and the layer panels showing might give us an idea. I can't guarantee that I can help, but someone might be familiar with the situation.
Also a screenshot of the Save as Adobe PDF and the PDF settings dialog as separate shots would also help as well. That way we see what you see.

  • Where are the Adobe PDF Presets stored?

I am doing some video lessons and would like to clean up the Adobe PDF Presets menu in the Export as PDF dialog box.
    Where are they stored?
I've looked through the many folders on my machine called "Presets" but can't find them.

Here's a great opportunity to file a feature request. In InDesign CS5.5, Preferences > File Handling displays the location of recovery files, and offers users the option to choose a custom location. It would be a great logical step to make the locations of the various presets and other stored items available and also offer users the option to customize. Care to file a request in the usual place - Adobe Feature Request or Bug Report form.
As preferences, these details are out of the way, yet are much easier to find than searching through a disk's file system.

  • PdfExportPresets.add - name becomes default "Adobe PDF Presets 1" - bug?

    Hi,
I am not really a programmer and completely new to scripting. I just want to create a very simple script that I can use with a panel created with Adobe Configurator.
I'm trying to load new joboptionsfiles (.joboptions / PDF Export Preset) via a script. I found/slightly adapted the script that does this:
    app.pdfExportPresets.add(File.openDialog("Choose a File: "));
But: this will change the name of the job option in the list to the default "Adobe PDF Presets 1". When I load the same joboptionsfile the normal way (via File > Adobe PDF Presets > Define), it does show the correct name.
Is this a bug in the scripting, in my script? Is there a workaround?
    Thanks!
    Eddy

    >>I'm guessing it's pointless to question why Adobe Reader is trying to resolve a domain name by sub-domain only (i.e. www vs. www.adobe.com)... but I was able to resolve our issue by modifying the hosts file as such:
    >>x.x.x.x www
    >>I really don't like this fix though for obvious reasons.
I can't come up with an plausible explanation for the partial lookup other than it being a bug If your are using the pdf-files exclusively from one site ie. your local network setting up the entry in the local dns would probably solve the issue for all your users. However if you have users accessing the files from other parts of the internet it becomes a very tedious exercise. As an alternative to the hosts file solution, you could consider disabling netbios over tcpip all together which also bypasses the lookup. And as a last option, accessing the pdf by ip, however when using https this is not an option.
However, the REAL solution to this problem would ofcourse be a patch from Adobe, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, anybody listning

  • Difference between Export and Adobe PDF presets..?

    Hi,
It is possible to export a PDF from InDesign (CS3) using both the Export menu and the Adobe PDF Presets menu (both are sub-menus under File)
Technically they seem to do exactly the same thing, both allow you to use predefined presets to export your PDF.
What I am wondering is, are there any differences between the two? And if so, what are they?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

PDF Presets are what they are Presets. You may get a joboptions file from someone to use and use the PDF Presets to load the joboptions (pdf options) file into the Presets.
Then they become available in the Export Options.
Alternatively you can go into the PDF Presets and then choose to Save one of your presets to file, then email that or give the file to someone else to load onto their computer in their version of InDesign.
This way you can both have the same PDF export options.
But the presets are just a way to create, save, load and edit profiles that are available when you go to Export to PDF.

  • CS5 Pdf Presets Missing

    Hi all
I have recently notices that the pdf present when exporting from indesign as pdf(not intereactive) are all missing.  I dont have the option to export as a high res, print quality, smallest files size and the various other options that are normally available.
Does anyone know how i can go about getting them back?  Are they something i can download from adobe somewhere? can i set them up?
Really stuck on this! Thanks for your help in advance!

Don't restrict the search to Adobe applications folders. Is there anequivalent to the all users profile -- an all users library? If not check your own user library, or maybe someon with a Mac can tell us where they ought to be.
As far as copying, yes, if they are truly missing. One way to get them into the system would be to g to the PDF Presets "Define" dialog and load them from the copy.

  • Adobe PDF Preset: Save Presets

I'm trying to locate where this data is kept for this preset. I want to save PDF files on several machines with the same PDF preset settings. I will do this manually if there is no other way.

These are actually .joboption files.Try setting one up as you want in the PDF options panel of the Save dialog and give it a name. It should be saved to HD>Users>yourname>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Adobe PDF>Settings. Try looking there. You can then put copies of the preset in the same place on any computer you want to use the same preset.

  • Outlook 2003 - toolbar adobe (pdf maker) missing

I'dl like to convert outlook 2033 emails or pst files into pdf format -
but I can not see any adobe acrobat toolbar : how to implement it ?
    - is it then possibe to convert all emails in automatic mode rather than email by email ?
    thanks in advance

Solution 1: Remove Adobe PDF from the Disabled Items list in the Microsoft Office application.
    Open the Microsoft Office outlook.
Go to Help > About [program name].
    Click Disabled Items.
Select Adobe PDF from the list and click Enable.
Quit the Microsoft Office program and then restart it.
Solution 2: Enable the COM add-in file in the Office application.
    Start the Outlook.
    Choose Help > About [application].
    Click Disabled Items.
Check the list for PDFMakerOfficeAddin: If it's listed, then select it and click Enable. Close all dialog boxes and restart the Office application.
If you are using Acrobat 10 or 11 then repairing or updating to latest version should work.

  • Cannot load or create new adobe pdf presets in CS3

Keep getting this message. "Cannot create the file. The folder may be write protected."

This has been reported before, and there are a couple of possible solutions, as I recall.<br /><br />One, if I remember correctly is to, first make sure the folder permissions are correct, then to check and be sure the correct folder actually exists. There were a number of locations created by different versions of the suite, and I can't tell for sure which is which on my system, which isn't a lot of help.<br /><br />I have "Settings" folders at "Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\adobe pdf", "Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF" and under my user profile,"Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF", which is where the test settings I just created ended up. You should right-click on any settings folder you find and check the properties > Security tab and make sure everyone has full permission. If you don't see a "Settings folder in one of these locations, try creating it.<br /><br />I also vaguely remember something about a registry edit, but I have no idea what that was so you'll need to do a search in the forum.<br /><br />Peter
