Adobe pdf to Flash page turning book

First of all apologies as this isn't strictly an Indesign itself question - more the end product of Indesign brochure query.
Can anyone recommend a particular professional PDF to Flash page  turning book effect software. I've googled but there's a fair few out  there and not sure which to go for. Anyone recommend a software in  particular or know if any have been approved by Adobe? This is following  a request by corporate client of mine but I'm stuck on which one is  best to go for.
Thanks
Molly O'Moon

eDocker is not a PDF to Flash FlipPage software, it´s more like InDesign to Flash FlipPage solution, but it´s aproved by Adobe.
You can download trial version from Adobe Marketplace at:

    Thanks for your reply Dave
Just tried exporting an ID file using the swf export settings but it does seems to be just be limited to a page curl effect. Is good but not quite what I'm after. What I need is something that produces page turns, zoom in and out options, a 'go to locked pdf' version and a print option that prints from the pdf and not the swf. Not sure this can be done in the ID export menu? I might be missing something though - so really after recommendations on software that would let me to do this to a pdf but not sure which would be best choice out of the options that are out there.
    Really appreciate your help.

  • Flash page-turn quality

Ho do I maintain image quality in a flash page-turn. I create the pages in InDesign and export as a swf file then import to flash. Once I export the movie from flash the images are degraded. Especially noticable in zoom mode.

  • Trying to make a page turning book on a Mac in InDesign, won't work

I have been trying for a few days to create an interactive book (where the pages turn) but when I go to preview the navigation button won't work (they show the roll over but don't actually move to the next page).  Also I try to export and save as a .swf file but it says that it is 'not supported'.  Can anyone help, I would be very grateful!

Alright thanks! Ok this is what happens in my end:
    - The interactive PDF you sent me works fine. The iD file opens fine as well and is exactly the same process so that checks.
-I exported your iD file to .swf, created a new iD document and imported the exported .swf file from the file you created. I exported this new document to interactive PDF. I open it and again I click the links and only google chrome windows open
This is the link it probably works fine on your end
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/on5tun0v0eunjhu/buttons%20email%20text%20swf%20imported%20to%20i nteractive%20pdf.pdf
I think there is something going on in my end. "Google Chrome" or "Flash" might be intersecting email links or something becuase I cannot get these .swf + interactive pdf combo to open the email client not even after I used your iD file, exported .swf, imported it and export again to interactive pdf.
Again the interactive pdf you sent works fine and when I export my file to interactive pdf it works on my end as well, its only after i export to swf and then I use the file inside iD and export to interactive pdf that it does causes me trouble. I will see what I can do to fix this. At least it was working for you so if its only in my end then its not that bad but it will bugg me forever haha!
Thanks again for your help!! Sorry to take your time Salah!

  • Printer ADOBE PDF 9.0 - page orientation

After uninstalling Adobe Acrobat 8 it occures that the remained Acrobat 9 messages on start to need to fix some missing components. I clicked okay/yes.
However, now I can't print to ADOBE PDF 9.0 in landscape orientation. All pages come out turned to portrait format. I used to use settings created in InDesign successfully, there is no page format setting at all (compared to Distiller settings). I tried  various settings and printed from various applications.
Then I deletetd the printer ADOBE PDF 9.0 and created it new. (in use now: Adobe PDF 3018.101; URL: pdf900://distiller).
After some other trials now it prints fine from some but still turned around from other applications.
What can I do, to get printed PDFs in selected page orientation only?
Any hints appretiated! Thank you, - thomas

Of cause I do set up the page to landscape before printing. In all applications it's the same procedure: usual visually by clicking on a portrait or landscape page icon, whereas in some applications the shown measurement next to the print preview icon does not change it does in others (from 21 cm x 29,7 cm to 29,7 cm x 21 cm). That's sort of just GUI I guess, not my print issues origin.
However, this issue aperas to came with uninstalling Acrobat 8. Assumly some part got lost/corrupt (and made Acrobat 9 complain about missing components on start) - but which indeed? And how to replace?
I'd like to avoid a reinstall for the moment, cause I remeber this behave in earlier, ancient times with Updates from version 5, 6 or 7. Pity, I can't remember how I solved it, may be I did not at all until version 8, don't know anymore. But I do remember I did quite a lot of reinstalls without success in this print with ADOBE PDF paper orientation issue.

  • Limitations of indesign flash page turner

    Hello,
We have a company newsletter that we wish to launch digitally as a document that can be:
    a) be viewed as spreads
    b) incorporate a realistic page turning action
    c) has a zoom function.
InDesign has a function that will turn the PDF into a Flash file where the page turning function works. Unfortunately, there is no zooming option, and when viewers click on the page (the text is too small in this format), it opens up a PDF of that particular side of the spread, defeating the purpose of a special format where you can turn pages realistically. There is a program called Page Turn Pro which incorporates all of these functions, but it is very expensive, at hundreds of dollars per year. Are there any other alternatives out there?
    Thanks,
    Neal

eDocker, described here. Don't expect a free solution!

  • Creating a PDF with automatic page turn after playing a movie

Is there anyway to create a pdf where pages get turned automatically after a movie has been played? Simply put, I need to create a slideshow with both movies and images, and with an automatic page turn every x seconds the movies might be either too short or too long.
Any help will be greatly apreciated!
    best, Jacob

Did you ever figure this out? I would love to know.

  • Flash Page Turn etc

I want to create a page turn effect in Flash, but not just
simply that... I want the user to be able to search the text, links
to be active... Am I better off just using Flash Paper?

A quick right-click tells me it's done with a program called
iPaper. I'd have a quick look at their site or consider purchasing
their product as it's often easier not to reinvent the
    wheel.

  • Adobe PDF not opening page

I purchased Adobe PDF Pack, and used it to convert several Word documents into PDF files. Now, I need to do the same thing, but cannot seem to open the PDF pack. The website address changes, and I've logged in, but nothing happens. The page stays blank. And I don't think the problem is with my computer or internet connection since I can open all other browser tabs correctly. Help?

    Hi Danny,
I took a quick look at your account and all looks good from this end. Did you try resetting your password? Is there something I can try to look up for you?
I noticed you are still a bit new to the service and may not know about all of the features offered.

  • When downloading as a PDF, my entire page turns blue. How do I prevent this from happening?

Help! I've completed my flyer and everything looks great in Illustrator, however when I save the document as a PDF the entire thing turns a dark shade of blue. It almost looks as though the whole page as been highlighted. This only happens when it's opened as a PDF and not in Illustrator. Can someone help me figure out what I did wrong here?

Nobody can know. You have not provided any technical details, starting with system info and what versions of the programs you use nor have you told us anything about what's going on in your documents. From using a specific color or appearance to using a specific PDF preset that wrongly flattens stuff to Acrobat's hardware accelerated page display not working properly this could be a million things.

  • Url link in flash page flip book

I am very inexperienced at what I am trying to accomplish.
I have created a flip book in flash. On a page in the book I made a button that is a link to an external url. When I place the the swift file of that page on my webstie, the link works. I have made a link from my homepage to the flipbook. But when I open the flip book the url link does not work.
Does anyone out there know what's wrong?
    thanks

If the flip page the swf is in has interactive code asigned to it, such as whatever you use to flip the page, it could be blocking access to any clickable objects in the swf file.

  • I have been trying to install addons (Adobe PDF Reader & Flash) they both download but WILL NOT RUN!

Did not run in Microsoft Security essentials even with Real Time Protection turned off.
Now Running Kaspersky Pure (as of yesterday) and won't install either.

I upgraded to Firefox 8.0.1 and it didn't help at all!
Will not auto or manual install.

  • Uploading a Manuscript from Word to an Adobe PDF - Specifically Page Color/Border

    Hi.
I self publish on lulu.com and they usually require an Adobe PDF.
Now, I make all my manuscripts on Word first and THEN create the Adobe PDF version.
I'm working on a hardcover book right now and for some reason when I use the Page Color/Border option in Word (which allows all the negative space around my image to be colored) that doesn't translate to Adobe PDF.  When it appears on my Adobe PDF version, the Page Color/Border does not go all the way around the image.  It only covers a portion of the negative space.
I'd love to know how to remedy this if anyone has tips.
    Thanks so much!

How do you create the PDF - save from Word?  If so, you need to ask in a Microsoft Office forum.
If you use Acrobat → http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/creating__editing_%26_exporting_pdfs
If you use CreatePDF (now renamed to Adobe PDF Pack) → http://forums.adobe.com/community/createpdf

  • Strange transparency problem trying to print a pdf made in Pages

    Hello,
Let me apologize in advance for this one, I think it's probably a doosy.
Not having the know-how to efficiently do a layout in InDesign, I have been doing print projects in Pages. It has worked fine in the past to print to Adobe PDF postscript from Pages, open up Distiller and convert to a CMYK pdf from there. For my current project it worked fine for the first 2 renditions, but for the 3rd edition (incidentally the one the printing company printed) looked very "muddy." Fonts were very rough and rasterized badly, and the whole thing looked kind of "brown-washed". They claimed to use a program called "Apogee" which they said told them there was a transparent layer over everything, converting all the fonts to CMYK and thus making them lose their nice crisp blackness. They've also said that it must be a setting in Pages that has caused this, but I can't see how that's possible! When I look at the source file in pages there is no such transparency. Several of the images do have their opacity decreased to varying degrees to help the whole piece blend, however this transparency they say Apogee pulled off the top cannot be seen from my end. We are down to the wire trying to get this job to print again, but I am stumped as to how to ensure that this rendition of the file will be done correctly.
As perhaps a side note, Distiller seems to be a pretty quirky application for me, often failing to convert on the first or second try, but somehow "magically" working on the second or third attempt for no apparent reason and without doing anything differently.
Thanks so much for any help - I am definitely cracking out the books and forcing myself to learn InDesign after this nightmare!
    - A-J L.

They claimed to use a program called "Apogee"
Agfa Apogee, introduced in 1998, was simply the first prepress workflow product that processed page-independent PDF instead of processing page-dependent PostScript into an internal and intermediate display list prior to marking. The prepress operator would be using Apogee to preflight the PDF you submit as printing master, and the problems found in the preflight are those of which you were informed.
As perhaps a side note, Distiller seems to be a pretty quirky application for me,
Adobe Acrobat Distiller has been difficult to configure since the day it was introduced.
Adobe Acrobat Distiller is a PostScript interpreter that converts page-dependent PostScript page description programs into page-independent PDF page descriptions without programming loops and links that produce dependencies. PDF uses a directory design for the objects in the page descriptions, a design that originates with Xerox Interpress (the idea of a directory is in fact printed on page 390 of "Interpress - The Source Book" by Harrington and Buckley published in 1988).
converting all the fonts to CMYK and thus making them lose their nice crisp blackness. They've also said that it must be a setting in Pages that has caused this, but I can't see how that's possible!
It is left to 'application intelligence' whether to match RGB black for type to CMYK black for type or to match RGB black for type to separationBlack for one plate/plane on a four plate/plane offset press. The problem with an offset press is that it lays down the inks at inking units that are some distance apart which invites misregistration. QuarkXPress, PageMaker, InDesign and other authoring applications developed for PostScript imaging on offset presses have ink palettes with four fixed inks of which Black produces separationBlack.
Pages does not have this possibility, so if you want your type to image as deviceK / separationBlack then you need to select your type and apply the following procedure, or set up styles with the following procedure applied. Open the Apple Colour Palette, select the CMYK slider mode, select some type, select the Advanced icon (the colour space icon on the left), in the drop-down menu select Device CMYK, and set the slider to C0, M0, Y0, K100. This procedure can be used by the typographer to control that deviceK / separationBlack is imaged, but for as long as Microsoft Word has produced type that is RGB, prepress processes have intercepted this in PostScript and reset it to deviceK / separationBlack including Helios colour management for OPI.
In prepress there is no way to please all parties. If you as developer say, "OK, I'll set the type to deviceK and then show this colour managed on the display" then you will have designers and people who write for designers like Sandee Cohen yelling at you for making type less black than they think type should be, even if in fact the colour of type printed on diffusing uncoated paper is way lighter than they think. And if you say, "OK, I'll set the type to R0 G0 B0 so it is as black as the designers think type should be" then you'll have the prepress crowd with their offset presses yelling at you. Neither party accept that black is a colour, one wants type to be as black as possible regardless and the other party wants type to mark on one and only one printing plate/plane regardless.
converting all the fonts to CMYK and thus making them lose their nice crisp blackness
I would wager a box of Carlsberg beer that the prepress operator is ignorant of the controls in Agfa Apogee, and that Agfa Apogee has a control to catch RGB type and convert to deviceK / separationBlack. Try telling the prepress operator to READ the manual -:).
Several of the images do have their opacity decreased to varying degrees to help the whole piece blend, however this transparency they say Apogee pulled off the top cannot be seen from my end.
Generally speaking, you should not be sending plain PDF to prepress. You should be sending PDF/X-3 which depends on you as designer flattening transparency, or better still PDF/X-4 which passes the problem of flattening transparency to the application intelligence of the prepress raster processing system. PDF 1.3 does not support transparency nor does EPS and nor does PostScript any language level.
