Adobe Photoshop 7 [editor] won't open for me.

Hello,
About a month ago I bought Adobe Photoshop elements 7.  I recently began using it, but when ever i try and open up the editor to edit my photo's, a message pops up.  It says: "Adobe Photoshop elements [editor] has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience"
I really dont know what to do to fix this problem. Help? Please?

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash.   Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:

  • Adobe Photoshop 10 won't open to a double click.

When I changed from XP to W-7 not long ago, I was told that I'd have to upgrade from Adobe Elements to Elements 10.  I did that, but have not been as pleased with Elements 10 as I was with the original Elements I got with my Olympus C-3020 camera several years ago.  Now, my Adobe Photoshop 10 will not open to a double-click.  How can I make it respond?

    hi, rlb103 ,
    welcome to the forum.
it might be that your finder got hung up. then indeed, restart the finder as described by kmac1036 .
However, the finder should never quit or hang. so, if it is indeed the finder, than this is not correct, and might need more attention.
There might be another thing: that the "double-clicking-speed" is wrongly adjusted. Got to "System Preferences" (under the apple menu), click "Trackpad", and adjust the "double-clicking-speed". Does it help?
if it doesn't help, please post back! with more info.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 won't open

Around a month ago I bought the creative cloud plan. I'm paying $10 a month for Photoshop CS6. A few days ago I tried opening photoshop but it won't open. I found out that I had been using the trial the past month, even though I already bought the whole thing. A selection comes up shortly after I try to open photoshop saying "License this Software". I don't know what that means but when I click on it it asks for a serial number. When I bought the creative cloud plan it emailed me a few times confirming my order and thanking me for using creative cloud and everything, but it doesn't say a thing in any of them about a serial number. So I tried doing one last thing.
I went to the Adobe website and went to the apps section and selected Photoshop. I hit download and the Creative Cloud App in the top right of my desktop (I think it's called the menu bar, but I'm not exactly sure) opens up but won't load. I select the apps section but there's a blue loading circle that tells me it's loading but it won't stop. I waited 30 minutes the other day and it still didn't load. And yes my internet connection has been fine lately. I tried restarting my computer, closing other apps and everything else but it still won't load. Thanks for the help guys and please ask if you have any questions about my problem.

  • Photoshop Editor won't open

    photo shop editor wont open
    doesnt work

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    Close Elements.
Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 won't open in Yosemite. Anything I can do about this?

After installing Yosemite I was told that in order "To open Adobe Photoshop CS4 you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
Unfortunately I was also told that I needed to upgrade to Java 8 update 25...which I did thinking it would also resolve the Photoshop issue.
    Silly me!
It probably made things worse as far as the possibility of opening Photoshop CS4.
    Now what do I do?
I don't want to go back to Java 6. Are there any other options?
    Thanks.

Thanks Rikk. Now the problem is installing legacy.
Every time I select the "install" option I get a blank screen.
I've been reading other posts about this and it may have something to do with Safari.
I'll try another browser and see what happens

  • After 2 mos, Adobe Elements 12 Editor won't open

Worked fine before, now Editor won't open at all either from the Organizer or from anywhere else, such as Lightroom. Suggestions please

Interesting.  I just closely examined the error dialogs I was getting when PSE 12 failed to launch.  There were numerous problems with case sensitivity errors for various frameworks inside the application.  For instance, one of the errors complained that it could not find the "AdobeLinguistic" framework.  The reason evidently is that the name was actually spelled without capitals.  It was "adobelinguistic".  I manually correct quite a number of these types of errors by renaming the offending area in the Framworks section of the application bundle.  This continued with each launch.  I'd get a new error.   I'd correct it and try again.  Another error.  Another correction.  Finally, it got past all the issues and launched PSE 12.  However, at that point, there was some internal error in PSE 12 (no surprise) that prevented it from running yet didn't show any kind of dialog where I could attempt to perform any further corrections.  I suspect this may have something to do with the fact that I have my disk partition setup as a case sensitive partition.  If someone else has a disk that is not case sensitive, I suspect they wouldn't see this error.
I've reported this as a bug on the Photoshop Family Customer Community in the hopes that someone from Adobe will see it and take corrective action.
I realize that some of you may find this post over your head a bit technically and for that I apologize.  But since I had already posted here earlier, I wanted to get this out so people would understand that there does appear to be a real issue with PSE 12.  We'll see what Adobe has to say.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 Editor Won't Open

I have PSE 9, and the editor won't open (organizer will, but not editor). When I click "Edit" from the welcome screen, the welcome screen just disappears and nothing happens. I tried accessing the editor directly from the program files folder, and again, nothing happens . I tried right-clicking on photos and telling them to open in PSE. Nothing happens. No error messages or anything-- it just won't open.
It worked fine on my old computer in Windows 7, but I recently got a new computer with Windows 8. I tried running in compatibility mode for Windows 7, but that doesn't solve the problem. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing.
Please help me-- this is driving me nuts! Thanks.

Yes, but the odds are that you chose the logical file instead of the correct one. The actual editor is hidden away inside the support files folder for PSE 13 and the file at the top level of the Applications>PSE 13 folder is just an alias to the Welcome Screen. You really want this one:

  • Ringtone editor won't open

When I click on the ringtone "bell" symbol, I'm sent to a page that tells me either to click on the bell (which I've already done), or to the Store menu and click on "create ringtone" -- but "create ringtone" is grayed out.
What do I do??? This never happened before. I'm using OS X 10.5.2 with an original iPhone updated with 2.0 software.

Do you get any error messages?  Also, can you launch it manually by going to the program folder with Windows Explorer and double clicking on "PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe" file?  On a windows system the file is located at:
    <C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop elements>
Also for version 5.0 the file may be called something else..  You just need to use some guess work.  You can only launch .exe files  so just have a go and post back.

  • Editor won't open on newly installed PE8

I just got PE 8 for Christmas and installed it on my computer today. I am running XP, and my computer meets or exceeds all the requirements for the program to work. When I open the software, the Organizer works fine, but the Editor won't open. Every time I click on it it "thinks" for a minute, and then the Windows error window pops up telling me to send an error report. I've restarted my computer numerous times to no avail. I haven't uninstalled it and tried it again yet because I got a message saying I needed to deactivate the serial number to uninstall, and that made me nervous so I didn't do it. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, I was so excited to get to use the software and am now completely frustrated that it won't work. Thank you!

Try the following. I put it in an older post in this forum Jan 4 I believe.
Called PSE tech support and had it working in 5 minutes.
      goto  C:/Program Files(X86)/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 8.0/Locales/en_us/Plug-ins/import-export    and file
Twain_32    has to be renamed to   ~Twain_32      .
next  goto   C:/Windows/twain_32          in this directory I had to remove a folder called Dell which was associated with an A940 printer that doesn't work on windows 7.   The only file left was    wiatwain.ds    .
with the 2 above change PSE came right up in editor mode.
My system is a Quad core from Dell  630i,  8 GB ram and running Windows 7.
maybe same problem in XP, don't know.

Photoshop Elements won't open. I have tried re-installing. I have windows pro 7

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Editor and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New à Shortcut
    Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Editor application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
    C: à Program Files à Adobe à Photoshop Elements 9
Within the Photoshop elements 9 folder find PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (with the blue icon)
Select that file and click Next.
    Then click Finish.
You should now be able to launch by double clicking on the new desktop icon, bypassing the welcome screen.

  • PSE 11 Editor Won't Open Due to my "tampering"

Photo Elements 11 Editor won’t open. (I also have PSE 6 and Editor now won’t open in it). I have Windows XP. Editor was working fine until I was trying to get my Viveza 2 plug-in into PSE 11 (I had it in PSE6 and all was fine).  I looked all over internet and could not find answer. Went into PSE 11 Editor screen and from one of the tabs I saw a place for plug-ins—you could browse for folder/file of plug-in (or so I thought). I went to Viveza folder inside my NIK folder and clicked it. After that --- Editor no longer loads in PSE 11 or 6. I have tried resetting Preferences—no help. I don’t even know what tab I used in Editor since I cannot open it. Any thoughts? I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling but think nothing will change since PSE6 was affected too. Need to change whatever I did to the file.
    Any thoughts?? Thanks!

Try these solutions to see if any of these work.
If none of them works, let me know.
    Solution1:
Close Elements. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file. Click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
    Solution2:
In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
    Solution3:
In case that does not work too, you may try this.
Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
