Adobe Photoshop CS4 refuses to recognize installed printers

I have three printers installed on this Windows Vista 64-bit machine, and they all operate normally with other applications. When I open a TIF or JPEG file in Photoshop, part of the time they open normally, and I can do print preparation and normal printing. Sometimes when I open a TIF or JPEG file, they open normally, but when I start to prepare them for printing (printer selection, etc.), a Photoshop CS4 message tells me that I have to install a printer first before I can do any printing-related tasks. It acts like there are no installed printers at all. Obviously I am not changing my printer hardware status between files that work and files that don't work.
I've been trying to compare the files that work normally with the files that don't work normally, and I haven't found the trend yet. If I try to recreate thousands of files that don't work normally so that they do print, that will be a monumental job.
---Robert---

The printer drivers are all up-to-date. In fact, one has been newly installed within the last 60 days.
Plus, if it really were a problem with an outdated printer driver, then I would expect Photoshop to reject printing on all files of that type, and not just some of the files. Photoshop _sometimes_ reacts like there are no printers installed at all.

  • To open "Adobe Photoshop CS4" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.

I have updated my system to Yosemite and when I try to open Adobe CS$ i get this message. To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.  I have followed the links and installed Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005.
When I again try to open CS4 I get the  same message To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
    Can anyone assist please?
    Thanks Colin

you may need to uninstall CS then reboot, try to see if it allows you to update your JAVA
    APPLE'S JAVA
    Java for OS X 2014-001
    SUN MICROSYSTEMS JAVA
    http://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_install.xml
    then reinstall CS4
I ran into something similar with CS6 where it needed to come off and go back on
technically CS4 is not supported by Adobe and reported to be problematic with Yosemite.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended won't install from CD

I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS4 a few years back and installed it onto my PowerMac G5 Tower (pre-intel).  Now I'd like to instal the program on my MacBook Pro (OsX, 10.6.8).
    QUESTIONS:
    1.  Is it not compatible?
    2.  What is the current version of Adobe Photoshop that I should be running on the Macbook Pro?
    3.  Must I pay for the whole program again?

I am getting no message.  I get an icon and am able to open the folders on the disc.
Right.  Pro video forum.  I need the services of Adobe Photoshop to create an alpha slug because I am experiencing a final cut pro x glitch:  I have a custom title which I turned into a storyline and added a transition (a 'Slide In').  Underneath in the layer below, I have my video set to 20% opacity.  However, when I play through the clip, when the slider plays through the actual transition, the opacity of the clip below is altered and gets brighter.
Creating an alpha slug and placing it prior to the text and then connecting them with the ('slide in') in transition has been one possible solution I could find elsewhere on an internet forum.
    UPDATE:
OK.  I found a 'set-up' icon in the folder and am currently installing.
I was jumping the gun in thinking that it was not compatible and needing a new solution.
    Thanks for responding.

  • Photoshop CS4 does not recognize my printers

I've been looking throught the posts on this subject back to
April or May and don't see any real answers.
My Os is Windows 7 (64bit).  All the printers are
networked.  The printer i want to print to is an Epson
7800.  PSD and modified photo all come up with the error
message stating that I need to install printer.  Unmodified
photos don't have this problem.  Also my laptop running
Windows 7 (32 bit) works fine.  So a gather from what is am
seeing in my system and on the web, PS has a problem
dealing with networked printers while running Win7 (64Bit).
Any one have any new thoughts on the problem?
    Thanks, Les

    Hi,
    Exit Photoshop.
Go into windows devices and printers and change the default printer to Microsoft XPS Document Writer.
Open Photoshop and when you get ready to print something and the print window options comes up change the printer in there to the network printer you want the job to print on.
    See if that works.

  • I am attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS4 on Windows 7?

I have a laptop that is running on Windows 7 and I am attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS4. It downloads the program file alright but when I click on the Set Up button it says "Cannot install Please click quit below" and then below it there are two bullet points that say:
-Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 - Adobe Photoshop CS4 not installed
    -Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit) 11.0.1 - Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit) not installed
What exactly is going on? I tried running the set up in a different compatibility mode (e.g. Windows XP and Windows Vista) but no luck.
Am I even clicking the correct file in the folder? Or is my computer just not going to work with Adobe Photoshop CS4?

These are merely the updates. You need to instasll the base program first.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 won't open in Yosemite. Anything I can do about this?

After installing Yosemite I was told that in order "To open Adobe Photoshop CS4 you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
Unfortunately I was also told that I needed to upgrade to Java 8 update 25...which I did thinking it would also resolve the Photoshop issue.
    Silly me!
It probably made things worse as far as the possibility of opening Photoshop CS4.
    Now what do I do?
I don't want to go back to Java 6. Are there any other options?
    Thanks.

Thanks Rikk. Now the problem is installing legacy.
Every time I select the "install" option I get a blank screen.
I've been reading other posts about this and it may have something to do with Safari.
I'll try another browser and see what happens

  • Problem installing Adobe Photoshop CS4. Please help me.

    Hi Geeks,
I am stuck with Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Trial) installation since last two days. I am desperately looking for help to get rid of this problem.
    My Problem:
At the end of installation of Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Trial) i was prompted with en error
message stating some of the components were not installed.  When I check the more information button provided in the error message window, it showed below error.
“Adobe Photoshop CS4 English Language Pack Error: Error 2.”
Still I could find the installed Photoshop in C:\Program files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Photoshop.exe
When I executed above file; application showed below error message and close it.
“Some of the application components are missing from the application directory, Please reinstall the application.”
I just try to run Adobe Device Central CS4 which was installed along with it.  It showed below error message.
“The Localized resource files for this application could not be loaded. Please reinstall or repair the application and try again.”
So My Problem is I am unable to open Photoshop CS4 after its unsuccessful installation.
I spent more than a day in different ways as I explained below in more info section.  I am desperately looking for helping hands to fix this problem.
I ever find this kind of difficulty with any other components installation in my 10 years of development experience.  Please help me.
    More info:
    (1) I have downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Trial) in this month (July 09) from adobe official site.
    (2) My PC OS Windows XP SP3.
    (3) Prior to install Photoshop CS4 I had Acrobat reader 8 and Adobe DW CS4.
    (4) After I read some stuff on net, I downloaded both Windows install Clean up and CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe.
    (5) First I uninstalled all DW CS4 and Photoshop CS4 using add/remove then rebooted.
then ran CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe (which really did not removed as it did not
find any Adobe component), then installed Photoshop CS4. No luck. same error.
    (6) This time I ran CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe and removed DW CS4, Photoshop CS4 and flash and rebooted. Then I ran Photoshop CS4 as Administrator. Same thing repeated at the end of installation and when I tried to open the photoshop.  Finding a real hard time with it.
Any kind of help to get rid of this problem would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    R Sunil.

PS CS4 software itself has to be installed as Admin. Put the downloaded folder on the desktop (if not there already). Open the folder and right click on the .exe file and choose run as Admin.
Install on C drive is the best stable choice.
Before you do all this make the anti-virus is turned off. If windows defender is running turn that off too. If Adobe reader is installed renove that. Ensure no other adobe products are running in the background.
During install the process will hang at 90 percent for about 10 to 15 mins. This is normal.
After the software is installed reboot computer.
After reboot go to start, All Programs and right click on PS CS4. Click on properties, Compatibility and check run as Admin. Hit Apply and OK to close. Run PS CS4 and update to 11.0.1
    Be Advised:
Now the biggest problem you might run into is that the trial install went too far and failed. If this happened you cannot re-install PS CS4 trial because of the DRM that is hidden in the registry hive. The hidden DRM prevents people from installing the trial more then once and limits the trial at 30 days. There is nothing you can do other then nuking the hard drive and a fresh install of your operating system.

  • Adobe Photoshop cs4 freezes at "Preparing to Install..." on Mac OS X 10.6

I am trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS4 for the first time (it's not an upgrade) from the trying versión of adobe.com on Mac OS X 10.6 (all the latest updates are installed). The Mac install is also pretty fresh, although I have installed a few things. The CS4 install starts and I get a "Preparing to Install..." message. But, that's it. It's stuck there indefinitely.
I have disable my antivirus software, tried to use AdobeSupportAdvisor (but it doesn't seem to be able to determine that an install has been attempted), and been working through everything on
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407428.html
to no avail. I get the same behavior no matter what I try.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

While I understand you may have valid reasons for using it, I still have to ask, why on earth are you running antivirus on OSX? I know there are a few people here who love trying to convince the rest of the world that there actually is such a thing as a Mac virus, and that the threat is very real that unprotected Macs could be vulnerable, but I've been using OS X since 10.0 (early in 2002) and I've never seen or been affected by a virus on any of seven Macs I've owned.
I've tested McAfee (Virex), Norton, and Trend Micro products for Mac only to find that they are either cumbersome and bothersome to the point that they ruin the user experience of a truly user friendly OS, or they interfered with things I was trying to do or needed to do with other software.
The end result is that I do not use antivirus of any kind on my Mac and to date I've yet to have a single problem because of that choice.
I'd wager a good guess that the root of your problems is some background process of your antivirus trying to san the installer or stop the installation altogether because the installer is newer than a virus database file, which most companies don't make a serious priority of updating for Mac since they know as well as most of us that there aren't any Mac viruses out there just waiting to destroy an OS that isn't Windows.

  • I can't install Adobe Photoshop CS4 extended at all

I downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended (Trial Version) from the Adobe.com website through Akamai downloader. Well, i tried to install it clicking on the set up, but it started to install and a few minutes later stopped and displayed a error message. The message, without error code identifications, just informed that there was an error during the instalation and Adobe bridge and another one could not be installed.
I tried again and it started, but when it was almost finishing another message appeared warning that "there was an error during the instalation(again no code error identification) and that Photoshop could not be installed.
I follow some tips like shutting down the firewall, AV,  but it didn't work. I used the system restoring so that i could completely clean up remaining files and tried to reinstall it, but again nothing.
    Has anybody any idea?
    Thanks

I know that John, when i said that i usually run the system as administator, i meant that i logged on as administrator. Sorry if i caused a misunderstood.
I decided to format the computer again. Perhaps, some problem during the system instalation may have caused this problem. After that, i'll try to install it and see what's gonna happen. I've decided to do it because If it is caused by an instalation error of the main system, it may  also cause hassles when using other softwares. But if it is not caused by an instalation error i'll come back to get help.

  • Install Adobe Photoshop CS4 on Mac

I have been trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS4 onto my MacBook Pro (2009 version) and it doesn't automatically popup to install. So i transferred the files to my "Application" on my mac. When i try to click on "Setup" an unreadable script appears. What do I do?? How can i get this to download??

This indicates that you have a Windows version of the software.  This is why you are not able to install on your Macintosh.  Since Creative Suite 6 is the current version of the software you can either upgrade to Creative Suite 6, and choose the Mac platform, or possibly subscribe to the Creative Cloud which is multi-platform.  You can find more details on the Creative Cloud at http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html.

  • Installing Adobe Photoshop CS4 on my Windows Vista 32bit system

I have downloaded the download manager from your (Adobe) site and also downloaded the "Trial version" of Adobe Photoshop CS4. Both downloads complete, but when the installation gets to about 70 - 75% my computer crashes with the "Blue"screen informing me about what to do if this is the first time that it has happened and showing the memory dump "stats". So can anyone tell me what either I am doing wrong or what I should be doing differently to get this program installed? I would appreciate any and ALL help in this matter! Thank you in advance for your assistence with this issue.

Please provide the info of the "fault module" listed on the BSOD. As Zeno said, it is highly unlikely that PS is the issue here, but rather a bad system driver or security tool that conks out when PS tries to install its components. Also provide more info about your system configuration.
