Adobe Photoshop CS4 won't open in Yosemite. Anything I can do about this?

After installing Yosemite I was told that in order "To open Adobe Photoshop CS4 you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
Unfortunately I was also told that I needed to upgrade to Java 8 update 25...which I did thinking it would also resolve the Photoshop issue.
Silly me!
It probably made things worse as far as the possibility of opening Photoshop CS4.
Now what do I do?
I don't want to go back to Java 6. Are there any other options?
Thanks.

Thanks Rikk. Now the problem is installing legacy.
Every time I select the "install" option I get a blank screen.
I've been reading other posts about this and it may have something to do with Safari.
I'll try another browser and see what happens

  • Photoshop CS4 won't open Crashes immediately. Out of ideas

    CS4, Windows 8.1
My graphics drivers are up to date. I've not installed any third party items for PS.
I've uninstalled, used clean script, reinstalled several times. ran the repair license (multiple times), changed flexnet licensing from manual to auto and back again during the many tries of repairing. Rolled back the date as Adobe mentions. Rebooted many times. Checked my fonts against the 'trouble list' though none have been installed in weeks. Deleted the preferences. Long list of things I have tried.
I'm out of ideas. Computer is about 6 weeks old. I installed it with no issues then. Program worked a few weeks. Yesterday I tried opening it and it crashes immediately. It opens enough that I can see the main screens then the error comes up. The only message is "adobe photoshop CS4 has stopped working" " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program......" No details are provided as to the issue. The only option is to close. I rebooted in safe mode and got the code of 148.3. Repairing the license with the adobe fix still doesn’t correct it.
Any ideas on what else to try?

  • Photoshop CS4 won't open RAW files

Photoshop CS4 will not open RAW (.CR2) files. I have tried what is listed on Adobe's website (checking versions, uninstalling, reinstalling). Nothing has worked. It still gives me the error message: "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
I am using CS4 on a 10.6.6 Mac OS with a Canon Rebel XS. I currently have Camera Raw 5.7 installed.
Does anyone have any answers ?
    Thank you,
    Teresa

The CAT.CR2 file that was posted is from a 1000D that does not have sRAW capabilities.  Comparing the ExifTool data and the camera specifications, there should have been a small-sized preview JPG image and a large-sized RAW image in the file, but the file was truncated after the top-left quadrant of RAW data was written:

  • Adobe Photoshop 10 won't open to a double click.

When I changed from XP to W-7 not long ago, I was told that I'd have to upgrade from Adobe Elements to Elements 10.  I did that, but have not been as pleased with Elements 10 as I was with the original Elements I got with my Olympus C-3020 camera several years ago.  Now, my Adobe Photoshop 10 will not open to a double-click.  How can I make it respond?

    hi, rlb103 ,
    welcome to the forum.
it might be that your finder got hung up. then indeed, restart the finder as described by kmac1036 .
However, the finder should never quit or hang. so, if it is indeed the finder, than this is not correct, and might need more attention.
There might be another thing: that the "double-clicking-speed" is wrongly adjusted. Got to "System Preferences" (under the apple menu), click "Trackpad", and adjust the "double-clicking-speed". Does it help?
if it doesn't help, please post back! with more info.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 won't open

Around a month ago I bought the creative cloud plan. I'm paying $10 a month for Photoshop CS6. A few days ago I tried opening photoshop but it won't open. I found out that I had been using the trial the past month, even though I already bought the whole thing. A selection comes up shortly after I try to open photoshop saying "License this Software". I don't know what that means but when I click on it it asks for a serial number. When I bought the creative cloud plan it emailed me a few times confirming my order and thanking me for using creative cloud and everything, but it doesn't say a thing in any of them about a serial number. So I tried doing one last thing.
I went to the Adobe website and went to the apps section and selected Photoshop. I hit download and the Creative Cloud App in the top right of my desktop (I think it's called the menu bar, but I'm not exactly sure) opens up but won't load. I select the apps section but there's a blue loading circle that tells me it's loading but it won't stop. I waited 30 minutes the other day and it still didn't load. And yes my internet connection has been fine lately. I tried restarting my computer, closing other apps and everything else but it still won't load. Thanks for the help guys and please ask if you have any questions about my problem.

  • Adobe photoshop lightroom won't install on my Mac - error can not open file

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom4 will not install on my Mac. "Error can not open file" when trying to open will installer. If I cannot get it to work I would like to return product.

What version of Mac OS are you using?  What is the exact name of the file which you are double clicking on?  If you right click on the file and select Get Info what does it state under the Open With section?

  • Photoshop CS4 won't open Raw image

Not sure what happened, but when I edit a raw image, and push open Photoshop opens but does
not open the image. I just updated to 11.01, and updated camera raw to 5.6
I reinstalled Photoshop, and the updates and the same thing happens.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Okay this could be a tough one.
I don't use bridge in my normal work flow, I use ACDSee v3 for viewing my photos and graphic designs.
I am a wildlife photographer and have over 300 gigs of photos dating back to 2007.
I just installed a 2 terrabyte HD, and copied these files to this hard drive so that I have two hard drives with these files on them in case of a HD failure.
I opened a file in Camera Raw, edited it, and choose open. Photoshop opened and the would not open the file, and more or less freezes with still some capabilities in the menu. It won't close if you try and exit, and I need to use task manager to close Photoshop.
I then opened bridge, and purged the cache on that file, reopened the same Raw file CR2, edited it in ACR and then opened it in Photoshope and it opened.
I opened and closed files in a lot of older files and it worked fine. Is there a way to purge all the files, or is this not a good thing to do?
I take photos almost on a daily basis, so going through each folder would be a huge task.

  • Adobe Flash CS4 won't open anymore ....

Hello all, beforehand I thank you for your help. I use
Windows Vista and I took all precautions and did scandisk/disk
defrag/ and have numerous utilities to keep my computer clean so it
    can't be that...
I have been using Flash CS4 pretty regularly until about a
week ago and i never had any real problems but now every time I
open up Flash CS4 it gives me an error message and closes. It gives
me the "Adobe Flash CS4 has stopped working" and that "Windows is
checking for a solution to the problem", here is a screenshot:

Does anyone know what is wrong? I hopefully want to avoid
having to go through the reinstallation process and maybe someone
could help? I again appreciate the help and hope everyone is well.

    of error

I have exactly the same issue on a Mac Intel Core Duo with Mountain Lion that I have had for 4 years, but it works perfectly on my brand new laptop with the same operating system. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all Adobe products a number of times to 'flush it out', but there is something on it that is causing the obstruction. Does anyone know what this might be?

Apple took money out of my account. I canceled my charge card and will not give them another one. Is there anything else I can do? I will cancel my account before I worry with my bank acount all the time. Now I can't even sign in for free apps

OK, so I have now found that this is apparently normal for iTunes, to only accept mpeg 4 movie files, all the searching I did before I must have worded it wrong because I couldn't find anything about this, incredibly. Had been looking for why iTunes won't take all the files it previously did, like if it had been changed, and it hasn't, it's allegedly always taken only mpeg 4 files. Also I had been searching for why iTunes crashes every time I try and add/import anything but mpeg 4 files, and even sometimes with mpeg 4 files. That isn't normal, it's supposed to just do nothing apparently as I've just found out. So for these reasons I didn't find the answer despite my searching all over the web.
So I guess that answers my own question now, but I'm still perplexed as to why I absolutely, definitely, without any doubt, had several hundred movies of a few different video file types loaded, accessible and playable in my iTunes library that everything here claims iTunes never accepted. It apparently shouldn't have been possible for me to have done this, but for probably 10 years it's been this way.
Perhaps since I don't remember adding these files to iTunes anymore recently than maybe 6 or 7 years ago, the iTunes back then did accept all kinds of file types? Or could I have somehow had some video codecs or software that expanded the capability of my movie players like Quicktime Player that unwittingly also allowed iTunes to take those files as well? All I know is somehow it worked! So now my question is how did I have it working before, so that maybe I can make it work again.

  • Photoshop CS4 won't open

I have been running the Master Suite CS4 collection and up until 2 weeks ago Photoshop was running fine. Now when I open it gives me the error message of the GPU enhancements needing enabled through the Preferences>Perfromance panel. When I go to open Preferences the system shuts down. Same thing if I bypass that and try to open an image. The image opens momentarily and then I get the "encountered error" shut down notification.
I have tried reinstalling and also holding down the Ctrl+Shft+Alt keys during start up to reset default preferences. Nothing is working and I need to use this program on a daily basis back and forth between InDesign. Any suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance.

Your system shuts down?  You mean the whole computer?
In any case, it sounds as though you have a serious display driver problem.  Visit the web site of the maker of your video card, and download and install the lastest display driver they offer for your hardware.
This gets more complicated with laptops; often you have to get display driver updates from the manufacturer of the computer.

  • Adobe PDF Plug-in for Firefox & Netscape ''9.4.1'' was causing unresponsive problems on my browser and I had to disable it . Is there anything I can do about this?

I was getting an unresponsive script warning on most web pages, but more persistent on Windows Live telling me to stop script or continue. I could view the pages by doing both and the only way i could stop the warnings from appearing was to disable the Adobe PDF Plug-in. Increasing the time for the script to run didn't seem to work either. It was taking too long for the pages to load and Firefox used to hang.
After disabling the plug-in it stopped doing it.
Does disabling it effect my browser in any other way?

    Hello Vivek,
I have learned I do have the latest Adobe Reader installed and that the plug-in is included in that download & install. So apparently the problem lies with the Firefox plug-in checker.
I did the ALT + H, while in FF, & deleted the file, retried update, using the Firefox Plug-in Checker w/same results.
Then I exited FF, did the Windows key + R typed in %APPDATA% & located it then deleted it, and now wouldn't you know the Plug-In Checker is not working, (We've encountered an error. Please try your request again later.)
Just gave it another shot & it's working . But still no joy, same results, showing the plug-in needs updating - being outdated version.
