Adobe Photshop Album 2.0 on Windows 7 no go

I am a longtime user of the Photoshop Album 2.0 product. I have well over 5,000 pictures cataloged with tags for individuals and places and events. It has worked fantastic. I set up catalogs by year and have them for the last ten years and beyond. Thought I would upgrade my computer to Windows 7 and found out that the software is not supported for Windows 7. Sent a question off to Technical Support but no answer as of yet. Any one else use this product and experiencing the same difficulty as I am ? Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I had already run the Upgrade Advisor on Photoshop Album 2.0 was flagged as "Might have issues running". Your suggestion to run the Virtualization  XP was a good one but my computer hardware does not support it. I did receive a note from Adobe Technical Support which basically said the Photoshop Album 2.0 was an old product and support "had long since been discontinued by Adobe". They suggested upgrading to Photoshop Elements 8.0 which is the latest for the same. They said that my tags  and other keywords would be preserved and that it was fully compatible with Windows 7. I am downloading the Trial version to take a look. Thanks for your help.

  • Importing Adobe photshop album files and tags

I am moving off the PC and onto a new Mac. I am using Adobe Photshop album on my PC and have all my 5 GB of pictures "tagged" with information on who is in it and where it was taken. I will be copying the photos onto the mac and want to use IPHoto. Is there anyway for IPhoto to automatically get access to and use the exisitng tags for my photos or will I have to go through my whole library and enter them again...?

    David:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Not that I know of. iPhoto only looks at some of the EXIF data from digital cameras and the created/modified dates on other files. There is a way to get keywords into iPhoto I believe. Check out this thread at MacOSXhints: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20051113185618105 and do a search for "iphoto keywords" at this site, http://scriptbuilders.net/search.php, to find scripts for that. But there's no way to get the other metadata in. I know iView MediaPro can but that's a whole different arena. I use it and iPhoto on the same set of source files and it works terrific. iView for the management, editing, etc. and iPhoto for books and calendars.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album SE 3.2 crashing

    Hello everybody.
I'm facing a weird and huge problem: since switching from 3Gs to iPhone 4, when trying to import pictures into PS Album SE 3.2, this software crashes.
After googling a bit, I read about many people facing the same problem. Some of them upgraded to Adobe Photoshop Elements, but still the problem persists.
No real solution has been found, therefore I'm asking here for some help. It doesn't matter to me if I would have to switch to another software, the main goal is to be able to import pictures and still to have a similar way of viewing them as in PS Album or PS Elements.
Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks in advance.
    F.

If the iPhone gets connected as a USB device, i.e. if it shows as a new drive in "My Computer", Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition must be able to download images from it. If that's not the case, as has been already stated, it would be a good idea to copy the images using windows explorer i.e.
    1)Connect the iPhone
    2)Go to My Computer
3)Browse through the iPhone(which should be displayed as a separate drive) and locate the images folder.
4)Copy the images that are to be transferred.
5)Paste them to the folder on your drive where you want them to be.
6)Now import these images to Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition.

  • How to View PDF slideshow created with Adobe Photoshop Album?

Many years ago during the Windows ME era, I created several short PDF slideshows with software (Adobe Photoshop Album) that included audio.  I saved them to a flashdrive.  I believe I used Adobe Reader 7 to play them years ago.  I am now running Windows 7 and attempted to open/play the videos and all I could see is the individual slides with no audio.  Is there a way to view these slideshows with audio today?  Some of them have special meaning and I would appreciate any assistance on how to view them once again.

  • Move photos from old PC running Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 starter edition, to new PC running Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.

    Hello,
My old PC (Windows XP) has 8500+ photos with loads of tags attached using Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 starter edition.
I'm trying to move all photos, and tags, to my new PC (Windows 7) . I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 on my new PC.
All photos have been copied from the hard disk on the old PC to the hard disk on the new PC.
But how do I move the database/tag information between the old and new PC / between' Photoshop Album 2.0 starter edition' and 'Photoshop Elements 8'?
All help is highly appreciated, as I really don't want to add all this valuable tag information manually...

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
All tags are correct, but PSE automatically reconnected only approx 5000 of the approx 8500 pictures (the picture directory has been changed)
See this FAQ for how to beat the Reconnect command into submission:

  • Cannot sync photos from Adobe Photoshop Album anymore

    Dear Everybody,
I recently upgraded my computer and had to reinstall it altogether. I ended up with the foloowing configuration:
    WinXP pro SP2
    iTunes 7.2.0.35
    Quicktime 7.1.6
    Adobe Photoshop Album 3.2
As you may have guessed, I use Photoshop Album to organize my digital photos and up to now I was able to sync specific collections with my iPod. Unfortunately this is not the case since I upgraded, after iTunes complained that it could not find my photo software.
I tried reinstalling everything and restoring my iPod without success, now I am desperate for help!
Does anyone have a similar experience or even better, a solution??
    Many thanks in advance,
    Yann

Just to point out that this will not work for raw files, since Adobe for some reason decided against using XMP sidecar files for the organizer, the way they do for PE/mac, bridge, etc.

  • Convert Catalog from Adobe Photoshop Album to Photoshop Elements 13

    Hello Community!
I've searched for this question in Google, but I didn't find an answer that helped me.
The old computer from my client with Windows XP OS is getting replaced by a new one with Windows 7.
There was Adobe Photoshop Album on the old one which isn't supported anymore. My client had over 15'000 pictures on his old PC which I've already copied on the new computer. Now he wants his albums, tags and these things from Adobe Photoshop Album back, so I decided to install Photoshop Elements 13 because of the Elements Organizer tool.
Now I've seen answers in forums that sayed that all these informations are saved in the "My Albums.psa" Catalog file, which I've already found on the old computer and copied on the new one. Some people sayed it would work with the "convert" option in PSE, but this doesn't work for me, because PSE doesn't see the .psa file. So I tried to convert my .psa file with this Tool, but in the middle of the progress it says that it failed and that I should try to repair the file in PSE. I'm now stuck here, with several different solutions, and yet I don't know what to do now.
I've read something about the folder structure and that the pictures and folders have to be on the harddisk when trying to convert the .psa file. All pictures are on the new computer, but of course the folders aren't the same on the new OS.
It would be glad if I find a solution as soon as possible from someone in the community.
Thanks and have a nice day!

Finally I could solve the problem.
I tried to import the Backup.tly in Photoshop Elements, but without success. Even there an Error appeared. The conversion tool also still got this failure at a progress of 15% conversion... So I searched a reason for the failure in google and found this helpful article from Adobe. It says that you should look for the corrupt images in the log file. So did I, and I found the error causing picture on the old computer and deleted it. After that I opened Photoshop Album, clicked on "File > Reconnect all missing files" and deleted this picture from the catalog.
Now I didn't want to make the backup again, because the last nearly had 1h. So I decided to try it again by just copying the catalog.psa from the old computer to the new one and to convert it again with the conversion tool. The error came again, but at a progress of 22% So i had to do this a few times: Searching the corrupt image in the log file, deleting it on the old computer, deleting the missing file in Photoshop Album and converting it. And finally, it worked, no error after conversion! I let photoshop elements 13 open the new .pse13 file. Now, all tags and albums were back on Photoshop Elements. Eventually, I let the programm searching the new paths of all the images. It takes a time but it works great now. Thanks for your help, I would recommend the Adobe Community & support!

It is a common misconception that Starter Edition 'stores', or copies, your files into it. But the program does not move or copy files at all, rather it scans your system's My Pictures directory, and generates miniature versions of your pictures (called thumbnails) so that you can browse a 'flat' list of thumbnails of your photos, overcoming the inconvenience of having to go into separate folders in Windows Explorer to have to find files. The thumbnails, as well as any tags, and Albums that you create in Starter Edition are all stored in the Photoshop Album catalog file, separate from your pictures, and your pictures remain where you originally copied them to your computer.
If you use Photoshop Album to subsequently download files from a digital camera or scanner, the default location where the program will create those files would be in the My Pictures>Digital Camera Photos folder. But if you do NOT use Photoshop Album Starter edition to download files from your camera, then you will find that folder empty.
The thumbnails in the Starter Edition catalog will exist, even if you decide to move or delete the original photos that were added to the program. This will cause files in the Photoshop Album catalog to become 'disconnected' from the original photos. To reconnect the files, you can use the File>Reconnect Missing files command to see if the program can locate the original files in a new location, and once again re-link the catalog thumbnails to the files they once referenced.
Since Photoshop Album has been discontinued, I recommend that folks find an alternative solution. One alternative that will preserve most of what you've created in Starter Edition is the Photoshop Elements 8 trial. Install that, and it will automatically convert the Photoshop Album catalog to a current format, and the program will not time out, as Starter Edition did. If you want to purchase more Editing power, you can also choose to purchase the full program, but it's not required.
If you are like many who have come to this forum wondering how you can get to your photos, now that the program has become locked or expired, don't worry; your photos have never been moved by Photoshop Album; they remain wherever you intially put them, on your hard drive. To get to them, you can navigate your file system using Windows Explorer. They are typically in your My Documents>My Pictures folder. Here is a handy How-To that you could refer to to find photos on your system, as well as some other tips for how you can use folders to keep your photos organized: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/maintain/filemgmt.mspx
    Hope those tips help!

  • Adobe photoshop album starter 3.0 pictures

I am downloading a bunch of pictures off of numerous cards. When I put in one of the cards all the pictures I wanted to download popped into my Adobe Photoshop Album Starter 3.0 program. I minimized it and opened up snapfish.com and opened up some different pictures. Then disaster ... I deleted the entire card without getting my 200 pictures off of the card...HOWEVER, when I pulled up the minimized Adobe Photoshop Album starter, I see the pictures are on there. I'm at the point where it basically says I need to click "get photos". Is there a chance that my wedding photos are still on my hard drive somewhere. I am SOOOO NOT a technical person. Please HELP! Thanks in advance!

    Hi Lucille,
Let's go slow and breathe... :)
First, you say that you can see the images in PSA. This is a good sign.
It likely means that the images were successfully transferred.
What I would like you to do is right click on one of the images you are
concerned about and click on very bottom where is says "Show Properties".
Now, this will bring up a little window. Look at the bottom and see if
it shows you little folder and a "pathway" something like c:\...\My
    Pictures\...
If you see something like that, press the folder icon itself and look in
this area for the file that you think you have lost.
    Let's start with that.
    Cheers

  • IPhone crashes Adobe Photoshop Album SE 3.2 on multiple PC's

Whenever I attach my iPhone the Adobe Photo Downloader starts, it see's the pictures and then gives a "Fatal Error" and forces Photoshop Album SE 3.2 to close. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, uninstalled and ran regedit to get rid of any lingering registry entries (I manage a network of 300+ pc's) and reinstalled and then did a couple of fresh installs on some new Dells I'm deploying, it still crashes... Anyone else have this issue and find a fix?

  • Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 error c0000005

When I try to get pictures from my iphone via Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2, it has to close with error C0000005.
I'm disappointed that I have to use 3rd party software to get photos on and off my iphone. I thought Apple made products that were easy to use. Just seems like the same crap from a different manufacturer (can you tell I'm frustrated?). Not to mention all the limitations with the iphone if you actually want to use it for business ....

You don't need to use 3rd party software - iPhoto will do it automatically once you set it up.
Connected your iPhone to your computer. iTunes then opens up. Select your iPhone under Devices, in the left column. Then click the Photos tab in the main window. Check the box that says, "Sync photos from:" Then, iPhoto will open every time you sync. You'll have the option to import the Photos from your phone and you'll be able to chose if the original stays on your phone or is deleted.

But still the catalog is by default saved under c:\documents and settings\all users\... I need to have it on another location. How can I change the catalog file location?
