Adobe Plug in

Hi folks,
I am new on this forum and would like to ask some help from any expert. I paid this software Acrobat Reader 8 before and I called customer support and told me I would have to pay for support with this problem that I am having. So, I tried this forum and maybe I don't have to pay.
Problem: I can't open a manual on one site that I am trying to open. It would say, " Acrobat Plug in- The Adobe/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again."
Can someone please tell me how to resolve this? Your help would greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Question: how to get the adobe plug in to play a downloaded flv file ?

    I want to know how to get the flv adobe plug in which i downloaded as a result abc or nbc or cbs.com i forget exactly which said i had to and also it seems to be used for playing most all videos from web such as those from utube,hulu, etc. So my question is how do i get the plug in to play any downloaded *.flv video ?  The particulars on the one i have is:
    Output folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
    Execute: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\uninstall_plugin.exe"
    Extract: NPSWF32.dll
    Extract: NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe
    Extract: flashplayer.xpt
    also perhaps FLVPlayer.swf of about 9Kb may have something to do with it?
    And the latest update i have was about jan 13 when it seemed to automatically take over my system and update itself.x
    I know it has the ability to do what i want- which is full screen cropped ,change aspect ratios etc. and seems
    It has to be able to or else it could not play the files and give those options which it does on some videos like from utube etc. in the first place. Unfortuneately it has something also to do with the useless *.swf files which are apparently of no use to anything and could certainly be eliminated .
      I have downloaded several freebie flv players such as bs player etc. etc. but they all have so many faults and are not suitable. Bs player does what i want but it hangs , have to go to system mgr. to get out of it sometimes , often difficult to use etc.etc. The main features is i need is to be able to make and play playlists to automatically in full screen one after the other in a specified order with NO user intervention and the ability to magnify or 'pan in' i guess they call it and change aspect ratios so that i can have full screen as if just cropping part of horizontal such as if want to view a 16/9 aspect ratio on a computer as i have with the prior standard 4/3 aspect and change a downloaded vertically stretched to a cropped instead etc.
        Also it doesn't make sense to download others and take up disk space when already have the adobe - also adobe seems to be the only one that plays hulu flv's correctly - on other flv players the video and audio are way out of sync and not just by few seconds but often by a minute or more. I know there is another 'pain' way to do it which is create a *.avi or other extension with loss of clarity etc. which have done but would like to be able to just do it in real time while playing the flv file itself as for example
    as bs player does.
       Anyway if there is no way to get adobe to do this does anyone know of any other free flv player downloads which will do what
    i want - basically playlists, magnify , pan,crop and still full screen, change aspect ratios -  other than bs player ?

    The plugin is what it is: a browser plugin - it cannot act as a standalone player.
    To play local flv files you either need to
    download/install the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    download/install Adobe Media Player http://www.adobe.com/products/mediaplayer/

  • Adobe Plug-Ins not loading

    Hello,
    I'm having a problem with my computers loading all of the default Adobe Plug-Ins such as "Comments".  I've used Adobe customization wizard 8.0 to package Adobe Acrobat Standard 8.1.2 and deploy it through Windows 2003 Group Policy.  All of the computers have a previous version of Adobe Acrobat Standard 8.0 loaded on them.  I've ran "Repair Acrobat Installation" and validated that the api files are in the plugin directory.  The only domain change made was a group policy adm template file was created to disable "Java Script" in the Acrobat program because of malware.  This applies to the users when they login and is located at "HKEY_Current_USER Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\JSPrefs".  The weird thing is I've been able to deploy this package to some of my test machines and virtual machines and everything installs fine.  The test machines are located in the same containers has my production machines.  Any idea what could be causing this problem?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Sorry, I reported this wrong.  I updated the package from 8.2 to 8.2.1 and then redeployed it.  Do you think I should try rebuilding the packages starting from the first update to the last?

  • Since deleting Adobe plug in, things messed up with my pdfs in Reader and Preview

    Since restoring Preview as my default pdf browser (after deleting the Adobe plug in) I get a different menu when I hover over the bottom of the screen either in Safari or in the Reader - with fewer option - like I can't save/dowload automatically from that hover bar anymore, and the pdf's don't automatically open in preview after downloading any more.  ANy ideas how to restore these features?
    Thanks!

    demicole,
    you could try reïnstalling Adobe Reader (and its plug-in), to see if that restores your missing features. If it does, then perhaps a less destructive method could be determined to let Preview be your default PDF viewer without having to delete the Adobe plug-in.

  • Links generated by Word Adobe plug-in are too large

    Surprise me...by helping me to come up with a solution to this obscure, but very annoying, issue.
    Our company recently moved from Office 2003 to 2010 and from Acrobat Pro 9 to X.  We are still using Windows XP.  Our standard process involves generating PDFs with internal links via an Adobe plug-in to Word--elements such as cross references and TOCs generated in Word are turned into PDF links via Distiller (not a server install).
    The problem is that the links that are created using all this upgraded software are "larger" than they used to be.  They encompass more than just the letters of the cross reference and often include punctuation that follows, such as periods and closing parens.  This means that when we continue with our process of turning linked text blue, characters turn blue that should be black.  The old setup did not do this.
    Is there any way to adjust the margins/buffer/link size so that the links that are created are tighter around the linked text?  Is there another way to address this?  Adjusting each link of a large document is unsustainable, but leaving these characters blue is unacceptable.
    Your help is appreciated!

    Thanks very much for your reply.
    I was hoping there would be some tweak I could make to the settings of Distiller or maybe some registry tweaks to change the link rectangle buffer size prior to the creation of the PDF links from the Word document.  I understand that the links are just "rectangles on the page" once they exist in the PDF document--but even a script to decrease the size of all of the links in all directions after rendering the PDF would be helpful, since the increase in size seems to be in all directions.
    I suppose I can export the links to a spreadsheet and create a formula to decrease the link measurements by a specified amount and then re-import them.
    I wonder what caused the change.
    Here is a screenshot of the difference if it helps at all.  It's at two different magnifications, but you can still see that the period is included in one and not in the other.  And the link box is larger in all directions.
    Thanks again.

  • Can I add my plugin to the "About Adobe Plug-Ins" dialog box?

    Hello,
    I have created my own Adobe plug-in (.api file), placed it in the plug-ins folder and it's loading and working as expected :-)
    However, when I launch Acrobat and navigate to Help > ''About Adobe Plug-Ins", my plug-in is not listed.
    Is it possible to have my plug-in listed in the 'About Adobe Plug-Ins' dialog box? Or is this reserved for Adobe certified plug-ins only?
    Thanks!

    Excellent - good work!
    You would be listed in the "About 3rd party plugins" section IF you added an about item from your plugin.

  • Did adobe install the adobe plug-in?

    How can I tell if my computer was hacked by the new Adobe Flash Player Plug-in Virus.
    Adobe recently requested to install an update and I tried.  I do not think it installed.
    Right after that my computer started acting up:  The gear ineterfered with searching by stopping scrolling.  I could not shut down or get out of the program.  This continued for a couple of days and now has stopped.
    I read that if the Adobe Plug-in was successful it is not repairable.  I am not that computer savvy.
    Help please from anyone.
    Thank you.

    What version of Mac OS X are you running? If you don't know, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu.
    I can't say whether that Adobe Flash Player update was legitimate or not, based on the limited information you have provided. However, I think that it's unlikely that you are infected with anything, and that the problem that you had was related to something else. I would recommend trying the things in my Mac Performance Guide.

  • Adobe plug-ins will not install?

    Adobe plug-ins will not install.  I have installed the most current reader and flash player.

    I get redirected to the download page to install flash player and reader.  I then go to the section flash player installs for IT.  Click on the following url http://www.adobe.com/products/players/flash-player-distribution.html   Nothing happens.  Does Adobe flash player include active x plugins?

    wetransfer.com. I updated Windows XP , Mozilla, Adobe , but it still crashes. I also used cookies and turned off my virusscanner.
    It still crashes . It also crashes with the Adobe program to send big files.

  • View Pdf in Firfox using Adobe plug-in doesn't always work

    Hi,
    I'm using Firefox 21 and it's up to date. My OS is win 7 and it's up to date.
    When I try some links to pdf files, I can view them in Firefox using the Adobe plug-in. Other pdf file links will make firefox ask me if I want to open using Adobe Acrobat or save the file.
    For example, this link can be viewed in Firefox using the Adobe plug-in.
    http://static.mozilla.com/moco/en-US/pdf/mozilla_privacypolicy.pdf
    However, this link tries to make me either save the file or view it externally in Adobe Acrobat
    http://www.te.com/commerce/DocumentDelivery/DDEController?Action=srchrtrv&DocNm=62352&DocType=Customer+Drawing&DocLang=English
    Please let me know if you need more info.
    Thanks,
    G

    It's the standard behavior because the first link has the .pdf-ending and the other link doesn't. In the second link is an option set(Content-Disposition attachment;filename=<<filename>>.pdf). This option says to the Browser, that the file has to be downloaded as an attachement. I don't know, if it works with .pdf-Files, but you can try to install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/open-in-browser/ "Open in Browser"-Add-on]. It will show you another option in the Save file-Dialog which opens you the file in the browser.
    I hope i could help you.

  • Adobe Plug-in - Save Event Getting Hit on Open

    I am creating a simple Adobe plug-in which registers for event notifications and displays an alert message when these events get hit. I am registering for the Opening and Saving of PDFs.
    Code snippet:
    ACCB1 ASBool ACCB2 PluginInit(void)
    // Register for event notifications
    AVAppRegisterNotification(AVDocDidOpenNSEL, gExtensionID, ASCallbackCreateNotification( AVDocDidOpen, (void *)DocIsOpenedCallback), NULL);
    AVAppRegisterNotification(PDDocWillSaveNSEL, gExtensionID, ASCallbackCreateNotification( PDDocWillSave, (void *)DocBeforeSaveCallback), NULL);
    AVAppRegisterNotification(PDDocDidSaveNSEL, gExtensionID, ASCallbackCreateNotification( PDDocDidSave, (void *)DocAfterSaveCallback), NULL);
    return true;
    ACCB1 void ACCB2 DocIsOpenedCallback(void *clientData)
    AVAlertNote("OPEN");
    ACCB1 void ACCB2 DocBeforeSaveCallback(void *clientData)
    AVAlertNote("BEFORE_SAVE");
    ACCB1 void ACCB2 DocAfterSaveCallback(void *clientData)
    AVAlertNote ("AFTER_SAVE");
    When I open a PDF I get three alert message boxes in the following order:
    OPEN
    BEFORE_SAVE
    AFTER_SAVE
    Is there a reason why the save events are getting hit on the open event? Is there anything in the above code that could be causing this?
    Is there another approach I should be taking to register for these events?
    Note that when I perfom a Save the events are getting fired correctly.
    Version 7 Adobe Professional
    Windows XP OS

    I recommend the Acrobat SDK forum for this sort of question.

  • Can someone enlighten me re: Adobe plug-in install they have 2 for 15.0.0.189.  A plug-in install

    Can someone enlighten me re: Adobe plug-in install and Adobe system manager plug-in install fo 15.0.0.189?  Is there a difference?  Thanks!

    Yes!
    You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
    and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
    After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:
    When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
    If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
    click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.

    You have '''Shockwave Flash 10.3 r181 ''' installed for Firefox.
    Try this test page - http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ - does it sat that Flash is installed?
