Adobe plugin broke with new update

i have a site i use to look at and download court documents. the viewer has used the adobe reader plugin with no problems until just now when i updated to 33.0.2. now the plugin won't open the file. i can't download it either. i either need to go back to an older version or figure out how to get this fixed. none of the pdf viewing options are working.

Does an error message display?
Some general suggestions:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Command+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
To rule out extensions as a possible culprit, could you try the site in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions, some advanced features, and some custom settings. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Note: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox closes, a small dialog should appear: click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
Any difference?

    I guess that it just had a bad connecting port on the phone itself, no clue why it wouldn't work when plugged in both ways other than there is actually some differentiating between the two sides.

    After updating Acrobat Reader my computer now freezes when I try to fill in forms using Acrobat Reader, this never happen before! Now the only way to unfreeze my computer is to turn it off and restart it, which is not how a computer is suppose to be turned off as nothing responses to get it unfrozen(ESC., Contol-Alt-Delete)! The I shows up as if I am able to fill in forms, but after trying to fill in the form numerous times various ways, it always ends up freezing my computer up! I HATE THE NEW UPDATES! Why can't I speak with a live human, through Adobe? I would not want to buy anything from any company which would not allow me support by talking to a live human over the phone, as typing messages can be misunderstood! Their is no point to have Acrobat Reader any more if it does not allow me to fill in forms! I could use the reader that came with the computer! It is sad that for myself filling forms using Acrobat Reader was nice since there are times I am unable to write anything due to tremors, unfortunately I am not alone in this type of medical problem and we the disabled the majority of us are on Social Security! Everyone know that Social Security does not give their recipients enough money to live off of! It is sad when a person is ill they lose more than their livelihood, so called friends abandon you too! So how can I fix the freezing problems and is there any Adobe that I can fill in forms which will not cost me money and or another company that may offer this free of charge?

  • Bugs with New/Updated content icons

    In the "My Subscriptions" page, there are two problems with the update icons on the left. Unless someone can prove me wrong or explain how this actually works, these look like bugs to me.
    When I list my subscriptions I see that some have the half blue icon. I understand that that is the "Updated" icon (as opposed to the "New content" icon) as the sole definition of what the icons mean is at the bottom of each post page and it clearly states:
    [Solid blue]: New content since your last visit
    [Half blue]: Updated content since your last visit
    When I click on a thread flagged with the half blue icon (from My Subscriptions) I expect to see that one or more posts have been updated, however *none of the post have the half blue icon*. This is problem #1.
    Once in the thread I do see one or more posts with the solid blue icon. Here's my second problem: if blue means "New content since your last visit" *why am I seeing posts for the second time flagged with the solid blue dot* ?

    In the instance you give, it is because the TOPIC has been updated (half-blue) with a new (solid blue) POST. IIRC, when some one EDITs of of their posts then you may see the half-blue dot for that post.
    Ah, I was right, I just edited this post and it had a half-blue dot.

  • IPhone Apps Moving with new update

    I'm not sure if anyone else on the planet has this but let me breifly explain. Before updating to the new 5.0 update I was able to take all of the apps and move them one page to the right which allowed me to have a "wallpaper" of my beautiful sweetheart free of apps covering the entire picture. Life was good before I updated; simple and I felt in control of my phone. Now Apple has added language to the new update which apparently recognizes this "blank" page and for some reason this annoys the fine folks at Apple so they've made it so that the Apps slide back to the left. With seven pages already of Apps this is extremely disappointing (okay, I've even cussed it so maybe more than disappointing) to manually go in and move the Apps back to the right, starting from the last page and moving that page one to the right and then so on and so on until the first page is again blank. Problem is when I shut down or plug in my phone to the computer the powers that be decide to undo my handy work, and I'm not sure but I see quite a bit more "crashes" with my Apps moved one page over. Point is, I bought the phone, I bought most of the Apps (I admit, I have some freebies as well), I pay my bill so why is language being introduced that takes control of my phone and arranges it how Apple sees fit. Last time I checked I was able to make decisions for my self and the property "I" own. So my question would be that of anyone else having this problem and what solution (if any) they've found to solve this issue.

    I can't say anything about my iPod but I'm almost certain I did this as well (iPod Touch, 32mb, not sure which operating system as I only use it in the car now days since I can also play all my songs from my phone). As for the previous version 4.0 I know I could move all to the right with the blank page and was able to turn off the phone and re-power it and the apps would stay where I had them arranged. I could also connect to the computer without it arranging them during a sync if I was careful not to mess with the settings on the applications portion inside the sync.
    I know this is just trivial and I'm not sure anybody else I know of has done what I've done as far as moving all apps one page to the right or why this would seem to be such a big deal but as stated earlier I use that front page as a wallpaper with my sweethearts picture and with the infatuation I have with her it's pretty important to me.

  • MBP with new updated Leopard Snow does not wake Screen anymore!

    My MBP15 (end 2008) connected to 24" Cinema Display with camera used to work perfectly well. When the laptop is in sleep, I would connect the laptop (screen down) to the display via the mini display cable, I would then wake up the MBP thorough either the Bluetooth Mouse of the wired keyboard. The computer would wake up and the display will work fine.
    I updated my system a week ago- I now have an updated 10.6.2. When I do the same above, and try to wake up the computer up, it would wake up (no longer with the hard-disk noise it used to do- which is great), but the screen would not be recognized and would not turn on. I tried everything... including disconnecting the display cable and putting it on again.. Nothing would work except a 2-second click on the power button of the MBP and a restart.
    This is annoying, and it is disappointing that new updates actually make things that used to work perfectly well don't work anymore!

    Yup, me too on my 2011 Macbook Pro (Snow Leopard). It starts waking and the white progress bar gets half-way across screen, but then it just repeatedly beeps until I force it to turn off.  Was worried it was related to SSD but you have same problem with regulard hard disk.

  • Massive Stability/Usage Issues With New Update [1.0.9.113] on Mac

    Hello! So I'm new here, but a longtime Spotify user.  Honestly, I have been left unimpressed and in fact quite annoyed with recent updates.  Today, however, marked the first update that has rendered Spotify essentially useless on my Mac. Beyond features, this new app struggles to play a single song... on an app... designed solely for playing songs. The track length (thing at the bottom showing current place in the song) is behind by *minutes* in some songs.  The play/pause button lags by about 10-25 seconds between pressing the button/spacebar and getting a response. Moving songs between playlists by clicking and dragging has become very difficult because of lagging. Just overall, a much less stable app has replaced an at least mostly stable, usable one on my computer.  Is there something I'm missing?  Or something I need to do, or just hold out until a new update and hope that the stability issues are resolved?

    Usually when there are problems like this, a clean reinstall of Spotify can fix the problem.

  • Incomplete boot with new update

    I did the new update with pacman -Syu and now notice the following during the boot process, which stops cold:
    scsi2 : sym-2.2.1
    2:0:0:0: ABORT operation started
    [some other similar lines ...]
    sym0: SCSI BUS has been reset
    Then the boot process stops. When I boot a different distro, and examine what happens after the first line above, I notice that my external scsi devices are then recognized instead of the other lines you see above. I have no scsi hard drives. That is, I boot from an IDE drive.
    I have a disk image of my previous Arch setup, so can easily restore that in just a few minutes, and can then do a pacman -Syu with the kernel being blacklisted. But I was wondering if there's a way to make the new update work for me. I have full access to the Arch install via a different distro, so I can edit the config files there easily before booting it again.
    Also, if I decide to blacklist kernel upgrades, how do I do that with Arch? Never needed to do that before.

    I have restored my old image of Arch and done a pacman -Syu with the latest kernel ignored and all is well. I'll just roll my own 2.6.13 later.
