Adobe Premiere 12 No Disk in Drive Error

I have just installed APE 12 on a Windows 7 PC from a DVD purchased from Amazon. The installation was successful with no error messages. When I open APE I get an error message saying "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR2. I can get to the program by clicking Cancel or Continue on the error message several times. The same error occurs when I exit the program and I have to click several times to get rid of the error message. I have tried uninstalling and reinsatlling APE 12, but that did not get rid of the error. Any suggestions?

When you did the uninstall reinstall, did you go the route
If possible, in opened project, Help Menu/Sign Out. (That is 12's Deactivation step.)
Then uninstall the usual Control Panel route.
Run through of ccleaner (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts)
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
That should get rid of any leftovers from incomplete uninstall or reinstalls
Then reinstall with antivirus and firewall turned Off.
You are more likely to succeed if you use the above than just delete the settings file. But, if you want to try deleting the settings file first, then
Local Disc C

12.0 Folder
and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then you delete the whole Premiere Elements Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
In versions earlier than 12, the answer to this type of problem target SmartSounds soundtrack feature. There is no SmartSounds feature in 12 althoug 12 does have its Music Scores and Sound Effects.
More later.
Looking forward to your results.
Thanks.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 8 Hangs Crashes Errors - Vista 32

    Hi,
    First I'll admit i'm no pro (obviously why im using elements), so if im doing something amatuerish it's because i'm not a professional.
    I remember using adobe premiere elements 3 a while ago, and it ran fine.
    I just bought Premiere Elements 8 and it's crashed more than any program i've ever used. Ive been to many forums to address the issues however there seems to be no solution in site (especially given that their support seems to be down at the moment).
    The first "weird" issue is that I get a little red X that appears at the lower left portion of the screen and when I click on it it says that my preformance will be poor because my graphics card isn't working properly.  This is not true as my Dual Nvidia 9800GT cards are working fine.  (I have sli turned off for the record because of a conflict with Cubase).  So I don't know what this means.  But I did notice something odd in my windows video display options I have 1 montor enabled but I see 3 grayed out disabled monitors even thought I only have 1 plugged in.  (I was using an additional one but it's unplugged currently)
    My most common issue is with hanging that won't end.  This usually happens when I apply a change to a file and trim it, or move it almost always in the timeline. The progrom just closes all together when I edit still images from time to time especially when I overlap it with a video.
    When the hangs happen my Cpu is at 12%ish, and I have ram available.  Although Premiere uses a truckload!
    Here are my project specs:
    The preset project mode that I chose was HD (hard drive) video, widescreen 48k because the files are from my hard drive so I didn't know what to choose
    Working with .mov files which were improperly formated from the source with regards to aspect and given to me so i had to stretch them out (could this be an issue?)
    Using the standard Premiere sound driver, although I do have a focurite interface but i only use that for Cubase.
    Backround rendering is on (seems to speed things up with regards to workflow)
    Autoanalyzer is off
    Computer specs:
    Dell XPS 630i
    Intel Core2duo 3.16 Ghz
    4 Gigs of ram (although only 2.8 showing because of partition issues anyone have a solution?)
    Windows Vista 32 home premium
    Dual SLI Nvidia 9800GT graphics cards - Both rated at 512 memory (latest drivers, physex, and 3D have been uninstalled threaded optimization turned off)
    Mcaffe security system
    If anyone can figure anything out from what I wrote please let me know!  thanks

    Here's some basics (some of which you've already covered). Definitely disable McAfee realtime scanning while using PRE.:
    Install all Windows Updates.
    Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.8 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it.
    Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites.
    Run Disk Cleanup.
    Run Defragmenter.
    Temporarily disable any anti-virus realtime scanning.
    Use the GSpot Codec Information Utility to analyse the file and post screen image.
    Post back here with the necessary information described here: Got a Problem? How to Get Started
    As you've JUST bought PRE8 contact Adobe and get the complimentary upgrade to PRE9. Upgrade eligibility after new product announcement

  • Windows "No Disk in Drive" error

    I'm having some issues with the Enable Disk Use feature and Windows. I have a 5th Gen 30gb iPod. My preferences are set to 1) Open iTunes when this iPod is connected; and 2) Only sync checked items. Enable Disk Use is not checked.
    Here's what's happening:
    If I manually Sync my iPod, a Windows error pops up "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive G:. Cancel/Try Again/Continue"...so I cancel out of the error and My Computer shows my G: drive as my iPod...even though I don't have "Enable Disk Use" checked.
    I've also had this same error if iTunes is open and then I plug my iPod into a USB port.
    My workaround is to enable disk use, apply changes to my iPod and then disable disk use and apply changes. This works but I'm wondering/hoping that there is a more permanent solution to this problem. It's annoying.
    Anybody??

  • Adobe Premiere CC"has stopped working error"

    Ran an update on Adobe Premiere CC last night. Now this error occurs. I did a system restore to 1 hour before the update. Adobe worked fine this morning. After I closed the program and logged in tonight the "has stopped working error" displays. Also Adobe will not import and .MOV files and the .MOV files that are already on the timeline are no longer there. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

    I have just had the same thing happen to me too. Everything has been working fine but today, Premiere has crashed/stopped working twice. I have managed to get back into it now, but it won't playback either the Source or Program Monitors, saying there is a 'Low-level exception in Adobe Player (Player)'.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 7 With Worthless Error Messages.

    I have been a programmer since 1984, and if I saw a programmer in my team wrote these worthless error messages, I would go into my office and kill myself.
    I Googled them, and I found them discussed; but the responses were of no use to me, mostly.
    1. The error message I got that brought me to the edge of a cliff is: "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that require Adobe Premiere Elements to shutdown. We will attempt to save your current project."
    Then it crashed.
    When I was taking Operating Systems in my computer science class, a crash means you will get no more than 60 (out of 100). At IBM, a crash is always a SEVerity 1 issue. There is no way around it. Crash means the program is worthless.
    I Googled it, and Adobe suggested it could be some drivers using virtual audio. I uninstalled everything I could find, and this problem is not going away. I looked at the sound device configuration, and it's using physical audio, not virtual audio.
    I uninstalled Premiere Elements 7 five times and reinstalled them. They still failed. Finally, I reinstalled it at a different location, and it managed to "Found default catalog. Trying to open the  default catalog." Then crashed.
    If I wanted to use the default catalog, I would have said so. If I knew where they are, I would have set them on fire.
    Anyway, I have a project due this afternoon, and I am stuck with these worthless Adobe Premiere Elements 7 error messages. No wonder Steve Jobs banned Adobe Flash. They are pretty worthless.
    Sorry I am so upset, because none of you need to read my frustration; but I am up to my neck with Adobe. Once I get my project done, and I am switching to SONY Vegas.
    But, for now, would someone tell me how to get rid of these problems so I can get the video edited? Thank you.

    I noticed these errors were reported years ago, and Adobe has done NOTHING to improve it.
    Go back to my little list of how problems, crashes and errors sort out. That was how it was way back with Premiere programs, and how it still sorts out.
    Even the patch for PrE 8 was mainly to get it functioning with nVidia and ATI graphics cards. Yes, those "fixes" probably straddle the line between Bugs and system, with a nod towards Bugs. I know that Adobe takes their Bugs very seriously, and work overtime trying to find fixes for those, that do exist. Though it took a bit of time, as they gathered info, still Adobe had a patch, and that is rare for PrElements, due to the normal lifespan of that program.
    I provide some of the same answers today, that I did years ago, to fix the problems. In nearly every case, things sort out per that list. As "system" is both #1 and is also by far the largest segment of causes, that is where I begin looking. With PC's, there are myriad configurations, and most are not suited for video editing. Too many load up their e-machine and expect to edit HD material. Obviously, that is not the case here, but there could still be equipment incompatibilities, or just some tweaking needed. I see similar in the PrPro forum, as the Mac-users put the program on their MacBook Pros, with one tiny HDD, and a very weak CPU, and things go horribly wrong. If PrE was ported for the Mac, we'd have the same issues here. Usually, my first question will be about the I/O sub-system, i.e. the HDD's, their size, speed, free space, controller type and how they are allocated. Video editing is highly I/O intensive, and most computers are not even close to being able to efficiently handle it. I recommend a minimum of 3x SATA, physical HDD's, and suggest that they be setup to spread the I/O workload over all three. Some manage with a 2x I/O, but that is below MY minimum, and is the real minimum from Adobe. A single HDD I/O is just going to cause bottlenecks, and there is no way around that.
    Once, it was more the domain of the PC, that one had system issues, as Mac's were so limited and controlled. Now, as they have gained the ability to expand beyond the absolute control of Apple, those users are finding out that systems DO matter.
    Notice #2 - Assets. Not all AV material is meant to be edited. Some, like AVCHD (a consumer format) will require a pro-level computer, just to get smooth playback! The second most common issue is trying to edit material that has something like the Xvid, or DivX CODEC.
    Number 3 - Project, is very important too. One must match their Project Preset to their source footage. If not, then there will be problems. The failure to do this match is one of the biggest causes of issues, though usually not crashes, or hangs.
    Number 4 - OE, is when a user decides to push a button, and expects something else to happen, and often because that's how it worked in another program. Many argue with me that #2 and #3 are OE too, but I am much more lenient, than they are.
    Then, there ARE the Bugs. PrPro CS4 had a bunch. CS4.1 fixed a few, but broke some other things. It was not until CS4.2, that things got corrected, mostly, with that version. Then, CS5 hit, and seems quite good, but has a few Bugs too. Some were left over from CS4. A new update for CS5 is coming, and soon. Will it also fix those lingering Bugs? Only time will tell. Will it be a perfect program? Doubtful, but I'll bet that it'll be a "better" program.
    Think back to when you started programming. You were writing apps. for the majority of the install-base. However, what happened if the user had Extended Memory? What happened if they had Expanded Memory? What happened if they had both, and a software manager to handle those? Most still had 640KB. By that time, I had 2GB, though my MoBo could only handle 1GB with the managers. How could you write for me? I was 1:1000000, or maybe even less. I had to do my programming on the fly, and often had boot discs for different programs. It's not that much different now, except that I would not be such a rarity any more, but hardly mainstream.
    I'll bet that we can sort much out, by tackling the "Big 3," and then working down, if necessary.
    I like doing test Projects, keeping things simple, and testing as we make them more complex. That helps isolate the issues in most cases. In another thread, the poor user says that all Project Presets, all formats and all Export setting yield issues. My first thought is to isolate on one Project Preset, one set of Assets, and see if it's a system issue.
    Sometimes it's easy, and that is good, 'cause the user gets to editing and not fritzing so much. Just nailed one in Encore, but the poster gave me all the data necessary, and my memory did not fail me (maybe it was not "wine-thirty yet?). One post, and one correct answer. Life is good. Sometimes, it takes days, and many posts, to narrow things down. In but a few, there is an answer. In those (like the PGC error in Encore) one never does really solve the issue, and the only hope is to get the OP to start over, do everything by the book, and hope for the best, this time around.
    Good luck, and be assured - I do feel your pain. If I have not had one of THOSE error messages, believe me, I have read of them too many times.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 - Transcoding Error???

    Hello, I'm having this problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0... Every time I try to burn this movie to a DVD (1x JPG 1607x886, 7x VOB Video Files - 6 are about 50 mins long and one is 5 mins), I have also made a menu for it. But when it gets to 15.63% on the second encoding I think, I get this 'Transcoding Error'? What does it mean and what do I do to fix it? Any help would be very much appreciated... I uploaded a picture of the problem here:
    http://www.fotothing.com/photos/335/3353d27d34c7b04db3f64a7c1525810f.jpg?ts=1228215011
    Thanks for any help you might give :)

    You may have to remux the VOBs using VideoRedo Plus. Remuxing is relatively fast and can correct problems with VOBs that you have in Premiere Elements 2.0.
    Is there audio for the entire movie?
    You might also have a problem with DVD markers or the menu. The only way you are going to find out is to remove them and try burning.

  • JFileChooser - No Disk In Drive Error

    heres the code I have used for three other applications. For some reason the current project I am working on, no matter what button I attach the below to, seems to display a "No disk in Drive. Please insert a disk into drive A" error. The fact that this code seems to work in 3 other apps on the same win2000 box, and a test program I wrote that just made a JFrame and put a button on it with the below code worked, has me boggled.
    someButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener()
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt)
              JFileChooser fc = new JFileChooser();
         int val = fc.showOpenDialog(null);
         if(val == javax.swing.JFileChooser.APPROVE_OPTION)
         java.io.File fileChoosen = fc.getSelectedFile();
         System.out.println(fileChoosen.getAbsolutePath());
    and yes, I have tried JFileChooser("SomeDirectory"). I have tried all other workarounds posted about this known issue and none of them work. WHY would this code decide not to work in my new project but works on three other and a test app. heres the test app the above code worked in:
    public class Main
         File fileChoosen;
         public static void main(String[] args)
              new Main();
         public Main()
              JFrame f = new JFrame();
              JButton getFile = new JButton("get file");
              getFile.addActionListener(new ActionListener()
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt)
                        JFileChooser fc = new JFileChooser();
                   int val = fc.showOpenDialog(null);
                   if(val == JFileChooser.APPROVE_OPTION)
                   fileChoosen = fc.getSelectedFile();
                   System.out.println(fileChoosen.getAbsolutePath());
              f.getContentPane().add(getFile);
              f.setSize(100,100);
              f.show();
    i have tried this code in about 5 different places in the new application and it always pops this drive not ready error box. can't seem to break it in any other apps i have written or the above Main.java.
    Does Anyone know what would cause this. The App it does not work in uses alot of polymorphism, rmi, and interfaces. could something weird be happening? the other apps are more straight foward one JFrame apps with FileMenu's, and tabs. mostly config windows. this one is much larger with many JFrames and is completly dependent on a server. so a client networked app.

    Linda Radecke posted a workaround in the comp.lang.java.gui newsgroup recently. Here's the relevant part of her post:
    ...this is known bug in JFileChooser on some JDK/machine-combis. (Do you have a CD-ROM-drive?). I myself don't have this problem, but I have read about it, there is a workaround I have copied to my website once, maybe this can help you, I haven't tried that out myself, since everything works well for me with respect to JFileChooser:
    http://www.jalice.net/windowsAltFileSystemView.java.html
    I have included the code from the above link here, in case it ever disappears. Note that I haven't tried this myself, but I've been so frustrated at the lack of a workaround, I thought it was a good idea to post it for future reference:

  • No Disk in Drive Error

    Acrobat XI with 11.0.01 patch applied
    Windows 7 x64
    Deployed to about 1100 machines via MS SCCM.
    When opening PDFs a lot of users are receiving error messages about not having a disk in drives A:\ and D:\ even though they opened the PDF from their C:\ drive. After clicking OK the PDF does eventually open.
    We noticed that if we turn off Protected Mode these errors go away but for a number of reasons we will not be turning off protected mode.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

    This ended up being a device control policy in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12. My guess is if we were up to date with the latest relesse of SEP server this wouldn't have been an issue but thankfully we no longer needed the device policy. Thought I would follow up.

  • How do I move Adobe Premiere to another hard drive?

    I have a 250gb ssd for windows and programs and Adobe Premiere and I realized today that when I put clips in the sequence it takes up space on the ssd. I don't have enough room on it for all my clips so I have to move it to my bigger drive.
    Could someone tell me how I can do this without re-installing? Which folders do I have to move? There are a few.
    Also, could someone please tell me which folder all these files are saved in? Cos I can't find it.

    I tried that. It's not there. Which I can't make sense of.
    When I go to "C:\Users\UserName" and check the properties it says it's 125 GB but when I enter and check all the folders manually I only come up with 7 GB and 4 of those are on my desktop. Where are all my files? It's eating away on my ssd and I need to delete it.

    I am trying to export an AE CC comp into a Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2014) video project. I can not drage it from AE to Premier Pro.  Is there a problem with the dynamic link between these two applications?

    Dynamic Link only works between After Effects and Premiere Pro if the applications are of the same version---i.e., both CC 2014 versions.

    Trying to install this piece of crap program from adobe "acrobat" that they offer no support for. It is 11 Standard and I have windows 8 and keeps telling me in error can't complete instillation. No other details. Any ideas? Can't believe they sell this for the price of a tv and offer only us to help each other.

    Hi Jennifer ,
    Sorry to hear that you are experiencing with Acrobat .
    Could you please tell is there any error number or exit code mentioned along with the error message ?
    It might be possible due to insufficient space on your machine ,it is not letting you install Acrobat .
    You could try deleting the temporary files from your system once and check if that helps .And make sure all the third party software are disabled while the installation is in progress .
    I would also suggest you to refer the following document to seek help .Have a look at this document and see if that fixes the issue .

  • "Font Capture: Adobe Premiere Elements.exe - Bad Image" error message

    I purchased Premiere Elements 11 last year and it has been working fine.  But just put in a new HDD into my laptop and now I can't open Premiere.  I uninstalled / reinstalled the program a couple times today with no improvement.  The problem is always the same: once I reinstal the program and open it, I get this error message::
    C:\Windows\system32\QUARTZ.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try installing the program again using the original instalation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support
    I tried moving this QUARTZ.dll file, but it says I require permission from TrustedInstaller in order to move this file... whatever that means.
    I am running a Dell Studio XPS 1640.  Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
    Please help because I need to get these videos processed!
    Thanks so much,

    I still have this problem, unfortunately...  I can't open Premiere Elements 11 because this error keeps preventing the program.  The program will start to load in the purple box, and the error box will come up, saying it is a "Bad Image" and there's a problem with the system32\QUARTZ.dll file.  I can't get past that step in opening Premiere Elements 11.
    I have followed most the directions on the above article, and connected articles related to it.
    I installed updated drivers and Bios, even though they were the same as what my laptop already had.  I also downloaded the latest version of DirectX and that didn't change anything either.   I tried to extract just the QUARTZ.dll file from it, but never was given an option to chose where to save the download or pull files out from it.
    Can someone please share any suggestions to battle this problem?  I can't use my Premiere Elements program, which is so frustrating.  Everything else on the computer is working normally.
    Thanks for your ideas and suggestions.

  • Adobe Premiere pro CC 2014 Unknown error/error compliling.

    Hi,
    I have constantly been getting an error message that says,"Unknown error/ error compiling" every time I try to render/export an already assembled sequence. I have tried replacing the footage at the point where the rendering stopped but in vain. I have also tried copying it into another sequence and all other attempts suggested on different forums over the internet. Sadly, none of them worked.  Kindly help. Thanks!

  • Adobe Premiere has encountered a serious error and needs to shut down.

    I encounter this every once in awhile and it's super irritating. I've cleared the cache a few times and even created new project files and saved them elsewhere to try and avoid the issue. Are there any updates or patches available?
