Adobe Premiere CC slow in response

Hi,
I recently upgarded to Adobe Premiere Pro CC and I notice that it is very slow in response and there is like 10 seconds lag for every step I do. I notice my computer goes up to 30 percent of workload. The problem arises when I am going from one sequence to another sequence, it lags or copy something in a sequence and then it lags. I have been using CC for 4 months and I did not have a problems with CS6. But this really annoys me.
My computer specs:
CPU i7-920 3.6gHz OC
48 GB of RAM @ 1466Mhz
Quadro K5000 with latest drivers
5x2TB at RAID 5
250gb OS SSD around 140 free space
120gb SSD - Around 40 free.
My cache drive was 120gB SSD, even I change the cache drive to RAID5 drives, it doesn't make a difference.
Now, when I export to render to Adobe media encoder, it takes 10sec. It used to take a sec to do that with CS6.
Is there something I could change in the settings that would make premiere pro faster in response?
I am looking forward for your reply.

I am having the same problem!  Interestingly my Sony VAIO Duo 13 Ultrabook is pretty light on it's feet with Premiere but my custom built NLE frequently runs into these problems.
The result is that I can often load a project faster in the ultrabook and some projects I can actually edit faster!!?  The ultrabook has a satisfyingly powerful Corei7 but no serious graphics capabilities to speak of, so rendering is software only and it bogs down a lot when working with compressed formats like AVHCD.  I got it just to use it's Wacom digitizer for Photoshop and Illustrator but on my last video, I got frustrated with my desktop NLE machine and cut it on my tiny laptop.  (Did it in the car on a road trip.  Fun to be able to!  But vastly less than ideal for anything very professional.)
My problem is that Once my desktop NLE is running, it can churn through very complex native editing like a dream.  It's just that every time I need to change what the program is doing, it takes an exceedingly long time to load new components of the program, i.e. bringing up an effects panel or the audio mixer.  My assumption is that once everything the program needs is loaded into ram, there is no problem, but the program is somehow interfering with computers reading and writing to the C: drive where the program is held.  Maybe it is creating is some issue with ram caching to the C: drive that is slowing things down.  After working with Premiere the problem persists and it takes equally long to open other programs.  I had similar problems this summer with the CS6 AVHCD bug in this thread.  This is not as bad, but seems very similar in its manifestation.  There is no longer any connection to any one codec.  Instead, the problem seems to emerge as Premiere has been running for a while.  Or after opening Premiere, closing it and then reopening with out a system restart in between.  A project imported from Final Cut Pro 6 via XML was particularly problematic, but the problem is sporadic so it was hard to tell if it was that or just a couple of bad days.
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
Here are my specs:
Windows 8 Pro x64
Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz
RAM: 16 GB
Graphics: GTX 660 ti
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO Thunderbolt
C: drive:  OCZ-Vertex 4  (120GB / 45 free)
D: drive:  Contains Premiere Projects (16TB, RAID 0, 4 SATA3 drives on Intel Rapid Storage Chipset)
E: drive:  Contains User Folders  (1TB  SATA3)

    Media:
mostly .MFX files from a Canon XF100 however these clips commonly play nice with Premiere.
    Issue:
After importing some audio clips (.wav/.mp3, possibly other extensions) to the timeline on occasion the video playback will become choppy and the audio will slow down 3% creating any voices in the video to become deeper and slows down.  Choppy video playback as well.  The problem is very annoying but  it can be temporarily fixed with a computer restart but it will come back.
    Things to note:
Creating a rendered ID (Exporting the movie out to a .mov) the slowed choppy video does not appear in the final movie.
    Temp. Solution:
The only way I can fix this problem is by restarting the computer.  Simply restarting Adobe Premiere and closing any non-essential applications does not fix the problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this are much apperciated.

Try converting your MP3 to AIFF ,QT or something else Macs like. See if that helps.

Not sure by what "getting very slow"or "I always have to render that project" means but I assume you are having less than stellar performance.
What version of Premiere, what is the footage you are working with, what effects, if any, are you applying, what are you trying to get done?
I have an EVGA GTX760, i7 4771, 32GB and I have no performance issues in Premiere CC 2014.2. Renders are about 3-5% slower than CC but editing is real time with no issues.

  • Adobe Premiere 9 Slow

Purchased PS and PSE in bundle pack. PS seems to work great, but PSE is super slow and freezes as soon as I try to do anything.  Here is my computer details:

    Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.80 Ghz

And not a big tech person but I saw this too:
    Paging File Size:

    Currently Allocated: 756mb
IS my computer big enough to handle PSE? I'm currently working on a slideshow for a wedding. Right now I am doing it in the Photoshop but I'd like to add just a few actual video clips to my slideshow of pictures, so I think PSE would be better...that is if I could get it to work.

    Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.80 Ghz... 2.79 GHz, 504 MB Ram
A Pentium 4 with only a half a Gig of ram is BARELY going to be able to edit SD material... not likely to edit HD at all

You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing

  • Adobe Premiere running slow

I've migrated from an 08 MacPro, running 10.6.8 with 6 Gb of RAM onto a MacMini i7 running 10.8.3 with 8GB of RAM.  Benchmark, the processor is supposed to be about 2.5 times faster than the MacPro.  Obviously I have more and faster RAM.
I'm running not only the same CS6 software, but the same CS6 Premiere project that has been shortened.  All the material is on the exact same drives (all Seagate BackupPlus USB 3.0 drives), through the same external hub.  It was only USB 2.0 on the MacPro, a few of the drives, the ones with the most content, are coming in on USB 3.0 to the Mini.   Exporting what was an hour long project to export on the MacPro has turned into a 6 hour ordeal, slowly creeping up one percent every few minutes.  At 82%, its too far along to quit and yet its too slow to be functional in the long term.  But it gives me time to write on a different computer.
On this Mini, I have experienced drives going to sleep, even though I have the instructions in Energy Saver set to never go to sleep.  I even have installed "KeepDriveSpinning" yet I still hear the drives going to sleep and occasionally waking up.  I don't know why, or how.  Maybe that is the problem.  I've had lots of spinning beachballs.  I've relaunched the Finder several times, each time seems to add an additional percent to the total and shortens the ETA.  Problem is the ETA has been less than an hour for over 3 hours.
No other programs are running.  Internet is off.  On the Mac Pro, I used to have several big programs running.  It would only have problems when I did an export
But under controlled conditions, the only two things I can think of that are different are the computer; the Mac Mini supposedly being better; and the OS on that computer, 10.8 vs 10.6
I've found the https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3521 article.  I'll try to figure out those tests afterI get this render done, sometime in the wee hours of the morning at this rate.

Nothing "Green" about them.  PN:  1DXAN5-570
By the way, it did take 9 hours to complete the 1 hour job described above.  Restarted a couple of times, but every step, even looking at the Utilities folder above, that involves a hard drive happens in slow motion.  It took almost 30 seconds for the various Application icons to reveal after opening the Utilities folder.  I've never seen a Mac so slow doing that basic function.  And this thing is brand new.

  • GUI Slow in 8.0.1 and 8.1 because of orphaned Adobe Premiere Pro Processes

Has anyone seen the GUI in 8.0.1 or 8.1 get very slow and noticed that they had orphaned PR processes?
We've never had performance issues on our Windows 7 Pro, latest SP and updates, i7 920, 48 GB, Nvidia GTX 480 and LSI 9286cv-8e. I have the latest Pluraleyes and Neat Video plugin's. The sequence contains DV, Canon MXF and 5d Mark III files and we've been working on it for months. We added new MXF and mov clips last week and have been copying them into the sequence from a Pluraleyes synced one. The sequence is DV NTSC, 29.97. I've worked with Adobe support, Case: 186016889, for 7 hours over the last few days after we first experienced the slowdown and I had upgraded to 8.1 thinking it would fix the problem ( I didn't check the forum first -(   ). Adobe support had us clean the cache and rename %appdata%\Adobe\Premiere Pro and Libraries\Documents\Adobe directories to _old versions. No luck. I then removed and reinstalled 8.1 and finally today reinstalled 8.0.1, same problem.
The problem was intermittent and we finally realized there were 1+ orphaned processes when we looked in the Task Manager. No slowdown after killing the orphaned processes. I'm going to do more testing to see what sequence of events causes an orphaned process. I suspected and have read in other posts where this is happening when you work on another application, go back and close/reopen PR.
Hope someone has an answer. I've spent a good part of the day reviewing all the current posts and will attempt to get a repeatable case where the problem occurs and then deconstruct the sequence until it goes away.
    Thanks...

  • Adobe premiere cs6 suddenly EXTREMELY slow and CPU intensive

    Hi everyone,
I'm editing candon 5d mk III footage (h.264 files) on my late 2011 MacBook pro. Here are the specs..
240 gig SanDisk SSD harddrive (190 gigs free)
    500 Gig (250 gigs free)
    8 gigs ram
    2.4 ghz i5 processor
Intel HD graphics 3000 graphics card
I'm a wedding videographer and I am currently closing my last edits of the season. I have edited 20+ 45 minute videos on Adobe Premiere CS6 and have had absolutely no issues at all. I enjoy working on premiere so much that I've been trying to get my videographer friends to give a shot and simplify their workflows.
Upon starting my second to last edit (same process as the other 18 videos I've done this season, organizing the footage within it's respective folder, loading it into premiere with the couples' choice in music and opening 4-5 new sequences based on the events of the day) I noticed that I was having a lot of trouble importing folders into my media bin. I had to import all of the footage unorganized because loading the folders "Preperation, Ceremony, Photos, Reception" with the footage within them would cause premiere to freeze and become unrepsonsive. So, finding no solution I added all the footage in no particular fashion. Just one large unorganized group. Then, while organizing the files into bins, I noticed even the smallest move would take several minutes to complete. Because I was working directly off of my hard drive I figured these kinds of delays would eventually catch up to me, so I moved all of my files to my HDD and decided to work on them there. The project itself continued to be extremely slow and started crashing regularly (especially when applying audio effects). After a few hours, I stopped being able to play 1080p video at all. It would jam and stutter so often it become unuseable. 720p video was the next to go along with my ability to render anything in less than 30 minutes - 1 hour. At last attempt to use premiere I was getting an "Unable to compile movie - Unknown Error" message when trying to render alpha channel things (lower third titles and things of the nature), my ability to change the resolution of the playback had disappeared (Going from full, 1/2 and 1/4 did nothing, it just remained at full quality) and finally doing anything in premiere caused it to use 300% of my CPU (based off of my Activity Monitors metering).
Does anybody have any clue as to what could be happening to my machine/program? I have a yearly subscription to adobe's creative cloud service if that helps. Oh and I've tried moving my media cache's from my HDD to my SDD with little or no results. Don't know if that helps.
Thank you to anyone who helps in advance. What I believe to be clean installs aren't doing anything so I'm hoping somebody can give me a hand.

Sounds to me like specific media is dragging the Mac to a halt. (300%, really Apple? Isn't that like saying that my car can go up to 90mph, but last night I drove it at 300% speed, 270mph)
    Some things to trouble shoot:
Do you have any assets in the project that are loaded directly from strange devices, like a SD card or CD audio? Any dynamic link media that may be problematic?
Is there anything that makes this footage different than footage from successful projects?
Can you work successfully with an old project?
Can you successfully start a new project using different or less media?
Is the 500 GB drive internal or external?
One time I was sent out at from work to troubleshoot a system that would freeze up like yours. The guy was an idiot and rude client that demanded that someone from our facility help him fix his own project. He said that he had been troubleshooting for a day, and then had convinced his organization's IT guy that he needed a way over spec new pc to run Premiere.
His system was fine. Within 3 minutes of checking media in his project, I saw that top track of the problem sequence had a video clip that was set to a speed of .01%, and he had the clip stretched for 24hours in the sequence. His project was supposed to be a 2 minute PSA. All his issues went away after removing the idiotic Day Long slow motion clip. He complained to my boss because I had laughed at him.
I relate that story to illustrate that it could be a weird thing with you media or fx, just as well as a hardware or software issue.
    Good Luck

  • Adobe Premiere Pro becoming Extremely Slow

I was just editing a vacation video and all of a sudden premiere pro became so slow that it would not even play the video back - I restarted it and my computer multiple times - I ran virus checks and cleanups over and over again and nothing worked. I am completely stumped.....
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated - THANKS!

    Ok:
    Adobe Premiere Pro CC 7.22
I am currently installing the latest update
    OS: Windows 7 Professional
    Stuff in the Project:
MPEG-4 format with AVC video codec and AAC LC audio codec
MPEG-PS format with MPEG-2 Video video codec and MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2 audio codec
MPEG-4 format with AVC video codec and AAC LC audio codec
MPEG Audio format with MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 audio codec
A Title made in Premiere Pro
    No error messages
I was trying to playback the video when the problem occurred
    This has never happened before
I am also running After Effects and Photoshop
I have no third-party effects or codecs installed
    Computer Hardware:
      Intel i7 4770 CPU @ 3.4GHZ overclock to 4.0GHZ
      16 GB RAM
      AMD RADEON 7870
I am not using Mercury GPU Acceleration
This problem only effects the preview window
I will try to playback the video in the preview window and it will either go black or will lag a lot - then I will try to exit and shutdown adobe and it will stop responding - so I have to do a force close
This does not happen with any of my other projects - only this new one
I simply don't understand why this is happening - I deleted everything and got it down to only the GoPro videos and the music and it still does it - but I have done MANY videos with GoPro footage since that is my main camera and this does not happen - I can paste the entire project in another finished video and it works fine - but if I try to create a new project with Mercury GPU acceleration OFF and paste it in there it still freaks out
I have tried to export the section that is different from what I normally edit(the after effects animation) but nothing from the project will export or render - if I try Premiere Pro fails and has to be shutdown - I tried converting the animation to MP4 - which is what I normally edit and the project still freaks out
Here is a link to a video of the problem
    THANKS!

  • Adobe Premiere Pro to edit videos export process extremely slow!

    Hello,
I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit videos, and until recently, it’s been working smoothly. The last few times I’ve tried to export, the process has been extremely slow—for example, yesterday the program told me it was going to take 22 hours to export a 527MB video.
My computer has an i7 processor and a decent video card (Radeon HD 7470) so I don’t think that’s the issue, but I can’t see it being the software since I had been successfully exporting videos until recently.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated—thanks!

  • Slowness at startup with Adobe Premiere Elements 11 inside a Proxy

    Hi all
I recently started working for a state government agency, we have 2 users in our department that have Adobe Premiere Elements 11 installed (they have for quite a while) I noticed while working on their PC that Photoshop elements can take 5-10 minutes to start once they click on video editor and new Project, also the help files do not work they produce a page cannot be found error.
I am replacing there PC in a standard upgrade rollout schedule and I have noticed the same issue on their new PC's, after looking into this I thought I would try the application on the same PC but connected up to a standard ADSL line outside of our network and proxy, the application opens with 10-15 seconds and the help menus are working.
Is there any exceptions I could ask our network administrators to put into the proxy to allow the traffic out and in to fix this issue.

We already deleted many programs from the computer that took up space so we could put this on the computer.
-Premiere Program size: 1,878.00MB, next program is Microsoft office at 500.00MB and no other program is even close all under 250.00MB
Already saw an earlier question and preformed some of the very similar tasks that they did.
             - I checked for updates, none available.
              -Disabeled graphics hardware acceleration
-Enable GPU Playback was already switched off
With a new laptop and not much video being edited, why are we encountering problems so soon? Not a huge computer wizz, so when/if you respond please be detailed in what I would have to do to to fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

1.) Checked for updates, said none were avaiable.
2.) We are using a Sony Handycam HDR-CX550V. Connects fine to premiere, i beleive it shoots in HD quality because when we upload it to youtube it has the sybol up there.
3.) I have edited 3 videos fine in the last 3 days. It has given be error messages, program has froze, and other things, but in the end they have been edited and 2 were brought onto our youtube account even though a few times it quit unexpectadly. We went to the camera store where we purchased BOTH the camera and premiere and he ensured us the 2 would work fine together because we were going to get a Mac and use iMovie but we stayed with the current laptop and got adobe premiere. The project is set up in the NTS- DV (something like that) format where I saw on one of your earlier forums that they should.
4.) All videos have been rendered. I use to use FinalCute Express so this program is easy to use. Progam is very simple and nothing is complicated. I have visited all the tutorials and I can edit fine its just the program seems to not be responding.
In the last 20 minutes, it has come to the point where it wont even work. I have tried to edit my 4th video (about 10 mins long) and it was been sucessfully imported where I located it in a media file on our H:. But, when I drag it into the timeline I know its not rendered but when I do it the program completely freezes and I have to force quit and end now.
