Adobe Premiere : Editing Video in Text

How do you edit video in text on Premiere Pro?
I did this in Adobe Element - both the newest versions (2014) using black video, Track Matte Key and inverting them with a Title, like so  15 seconds in
Real Talk Teaser: Sean White - YouTube
Now I've switched to Premiere Pro and am trying to replicate my titles, but to no avail. I can't get the text to cut out to transparent to reveal the moving video below
I've tried using  a Set Matte,
tried using a Luma Key with Alpha Channels,
tried a Title with a black background fill,
or one without over black video,
inverting Mattes,
tried cutting/copying a clip of the video to place on Video 3 instead of just putting the Title over Video 1
and on all three Video channels ...
Tried Adobe/non-Adobe video tutorials and the Adobe reference.
I don't know what I'm missing. Thoughts?

Hi Tash B,
Here you go:
Create text and place it on the track above the video clip you want to show inside the text.
Apply a Travel Matte Key effect to the video clip.
In the Effects Control panel choose Matte > Video 2, Composite Using > Matte Alpha
Hope that helps,
Kevin

I was working with Adobe Premiere Pro and then the video editing layer disappeared, it left me with Audio editing layer tho.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Video Play Issue

This is probably not an advanced question, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding an answer.  I'm trying to use Adobe Premiere, and I'm importing my video.  In the first screen, the top left video play area that I import my raw video into, I find that I'm getting a very choppy play.  The choppy play is making it difficult for me to time my cuts.  The screen image will freeze while the audio continues to play.
When this happened initially, I assumed it was my hardware.  I was running what I considered to be a decent machine, but I figured I needed a better one.  So, I went and bought a better one.  Now I'm running a machine with a Quadro 3100 graphics card.  It's an I7, quad core, about 2.8 ghz if I recall correctly.  (It's supposed to be able to over clock or boost or something, but I don't know much about that stuff.)
Anyway.  Is there some sort of setting I should be using?  Any advice would be really, sincerely appreciated.

    John T. Smith,
My apologies for not having provided more information.
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5, and I believe I just updated it to the 5.5.2.
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
I ran the update this morning, which is why I believe I'm using the 5.5.2.
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
Windows 7, and I believe it is Professional.
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
These are Quicktime .mov files.  I'm afraid I don't have a lot of other information.  They are files that were transferred to my computer, but I wasn't around when they were initially done.
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
    No error message.
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
    The problem is consistent.
    Has this ever worked before?
I've never seen it play smoothly.
What other software are you running?
Just typical Microsoft Office programs, and Chrome, and maybe Explorer.  But I rarely run anything else while I'm attempting to work in Premiere.
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
    To my knowledge, no.
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
    I'm using the MSI WT Series WT60 2OK 3K-615US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?
I do not know how to use this.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?
It only happens to the raw footage and timeline footage.  The output is fine, assuming I can find the correct place to make the cuts.

  • Adobe Premiere 8 - videos directly to YouTube more than 10minutes

Adobe Premiere 8 doesn't allow me to share videos directly to YouTube bigger than 10 minutes.  How I reset this to allow videos up to 15 minutes according to the new YouTube file sizes.

    Welcome to the forum.
In the short form of the answer, no.
However, you can Export/Share, and then use your extended account to upload whatever your account allows. When PrE 8, and even PrE 9, were being coded, the limit was 10 mins. period. The extended/advanced accounts are fairly new. Perhaps PrE 10 will allow for longer files to be directly uploaded, but we will not know until about late September. By its release, YouTube might offer unlimited Duration, and PrE 10 will have been written for what existed, when it was engineered.
Good luck, and sorry for the bad news. Still, that Export/Share and then Upload has worked for most users with the bigger accounts.

  • Multi-colored block noise bug in Adobe Premiere - DV video

When I edit a DV video in Premiere 6.5 sometimes  the final DV video output will have this strange multi-colored blocks  that last a frame or two, and it will have a loud violent hiss right  there.  It's not in the original DV video, and it won't be in the same  place if I resave it.  I can't figure out what's causing it.  I blured  the logo in the bottom left corner, but it's fine.  It will look perfect  with the video screwed up behind it.  Anyone have any ideas what's  happening, or have you run into this before??

Anything that does that "once in awhile" and "not in the same place" is most often caused by TSR software running in the backbround
That TSR software is doing "something" to the hardware that is stealing a few clock cycles or polling the system bus... and that causes problems with Premiere
You need to check what else is running in the background, and stop it if at all possible
Also, This is aimed at Premiere Pro, but may help

  • Adobe Premiere 7 video turns blurry / pixilated upon export.  How do I get a high quality export?

Hello.  I am editing a video in Adobe Elements 7.0.  The footage is standard definition.  I am ready to export the video, but when I do this the video comes out blurry or pixilated looking.  The footage looks clear when I am actually editing it, but when I export it something goes wrong.  I need one export in Flash (which will later be posted on the web) and one export as a Windows Media File or MPEG so it can be viewed internally on our office computers.  I have played with copious settings, formats, compressions, etc.  How do I export non-blurry, high quality, clear videos?
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.  I really appreciate it.

Hi Mr. Hunt!  Thank you so much for responding.  I really appreciate it.
What is my project preset?  That's a great question.  My settings are:
    General:
    Editing Mode: DV NTSC
    Timebase: 29.97 frames per second
    Video:
    Frame Size: 720 horizontal x 480 vertical
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC (0.9)
    Fields: lower field first
Display format: 30fps drop frame timecode
Title Safe Area: 20% horizontal and vertical
Action safe: 10% horizontal and vertical
    Capture:
Capture Format: HDV Capture  (Footage/tape is SD, camera is HD, does this impact anything?)
    Video Rendering:
Maximum bit depth - box is NOT checked
    Previews:
    File Format: DV NTSC
    Compressor: DV NTSC
    Color Depth: millions of colors
Optimize stills - box IS checked
Footage is shot on a Canon XHA1 Hi-def camera, but on standard definition tapes.  Footage is shot drop frame.
Does that answer your question?  If not, where would I go to find my presets?
I'll have to check out MS Windows Media Encoder.

I want to use my itunes music into a adobe video.
How can I transform the itunes music so I can use into the abode video?

Try to use instructions for consolidating library from here, see if that helps. At some point I have noticed, especially with huge library it gets hard for itunes to keep information about different locations, unless you have external drive plugged permanently.

  • Help!  My Adobe Premiere Elements Video is Horizontal, Can you help?

I took a video of a native dancer, Unfortunately, when played the native dancer is horizontal.  is there a fix to rotate the video just as one can rotate a photo?

    ceasefortea
    In Premiere Elements 10 Windows
    a. highlight your video on the Timeline of the Timeline view
    b. click on Properties icon above Timeline to open Properties Palette. (Could also open Properties Palette via Window Menu/Properties)
    c. In Properties Palette/Motion Panel Expanded, use the Rotation feature there to rotate your video.
Please let us know the outcome. We will fine tune the details as necessary, but I think that the above should do the job.

What does that depends on and what can I do to fix it?
The phone. Don't use the phone to change the wrapper. Use a converter or better yet, use a video camera. Use a phone to make calls.

    Welcome to the forum.
As your system setup will likely be much different from that of Konrad's, I would start a new thread, and in it, list the full system in detail, as Konrad did. This ARTICLE will give you tips on the info that would be very useful.
In Konrad's case, the C:\ was filled to about capacity, so could well have been a contributing factor. That is why full I/O specs. will be very, very useful.
    Good luck,

  • I need a Video Card for Adobe Premiere Elements, what is recommended?

I wish to buy the Adobe Premiere Elements Video Editing. I shoot on a Cannon GL1 & GL3 mini dvd and need a video card to capture my video footage. What Video Card is recommended for use with the Premieire Elements software? and what is the price? Please advise...

Is the purchased Premiere Elements 12 still in its sealed packaging?
If you have not already, I would suggest that you install Premiere Elements 12 from the purchased installation disc
and evaluate its performance in your computer environment.
    a. Does the program fail to install?
    b. Do you get Display Card errors?
If you are worried about not being able to return 12 once the package is opened, then you can try the following
    a. Download the Premiere Elements 12 tryout files from the following web site and evaluate it as a tryout (full
    featured).
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-12-direct-download-links-premiere.html
Read and carry out carefully the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the web page to avoid Access Denied message.
    b. If the tryout performs well for you, then delete the tryout and install your purchased version with the purchased
serial number included on the packaging.
....other possibilities, but just the above for now.

  • How can I get my text to speech program NVDA to work on Adobe Digital Edition 2.0?

Adobe Digital Edition 2.0 text to speech program NVDA is suppose to work. How can I get it to work?

In short, no. iAS is a 2.2 servlet container. You would have to backport your application to version 2.2 of the servlet spec.

  • What is the best format and resolution to save my logo images for Adobe Premiere 3.0 videos.

    Hello,
I've had great success using this forum in the past and was wondering if someone could help me out. I save my logo images for my video as transparent PNG at 72 DPI (because i read an article that stated that 72 dpi was good) in Illustrator for my Premiere-edited videos, but they seem pixelated. See example at
Can anyone tell me the best way to save it so that it is more crisp.

    XonoBoom,
With PrPro, you CAN Import Layered PSD's. You will be given two choices, when you do: Import as Footage, with the Layers Flattened (the term for merging all Layers into one), or as a Sequence. Now, the latter has slightly different results, so you will want to explore this a bit more closely, and the Help File will be, well "helpful." The Layered PSD will come in as a Sequence, and in a Bin. The Bin will need to be twirled open, and from there, one can do all sorts of operations, such as Nest that Sequence into another, but for what I do (and what you might wish to do), you can just click+drag each Layer (they appear separately in the Project Panel), to Video Tracks, where they can be used in their order of creation, or can be moved about, as is required. One can add Effects, or adjust the Fixed Effects, such as Opacity, to each Layer individually. I do this for a lot of Titles, and just create those Images with Layers in PS. A little planning is required, in that creation, but once you get the hang of it, it will become second-nature.
A variation from PS is the Layer Comp, which is useful for intricate animation. That "variation" is on the PS end of the process/workflow.
Good luck, and if you do much work with graphics into your Video, I think that you will save a lot of time, plus have so many creative doors opened to you. Just spend a little time looking over the Import PSD as a Sequence, so you will understand what you are getting, what you are seeing and how to handle it. Many are not initially expecting a real Sequence, and worry about what to do with that.
