Editing iMovie files with Adobe Premiere Elements for Windows

Hi,
My 12 year old asked for Final Cut Pro for Christmas to edit movies he takes on his iPod touch and iPad. However, he has a Windows-based desktop. As I understand it, Final Cut Pro is not a Windows-based program. I thought we could get him Adobe Premiere Elements for Windows, but will he be able to manipulate his iMovie files easily? I have no idea what format the iMovie files are. Will he be able to download them to his Windows desktop, edit his movie, and then upload back to his Apple devices? Thanks!

The iPod touch and iPad typically offer video files H.264.mov or H.264.mp4 formats. This is not a Mac versus Windows matter because we are talking exports (.mov and .mp4) not project files from a video editing project.
He should be able to take his iPod or iPad device videos and edit them in Premiere Elements. And, then he should be able to return them to his device(s).
But, many of these devices record video with a variable frame rate (depending on the lighting conditions to a great extent). Premiere Elements (any version) can have problems with such video to the extend (a) out of sync audio (b) cannot import file at all. I have a iPod Touch 4th Generation and have no Premiere Elements importing/editing/exporting problems with my 1280 x 720 @ 30 progressive frames per second (H.264.mov) video from that iPod.

We are not Adobe here. Rather user to user.
In the threads that I have read here the following is the user to user reply on this matter that is seen regarding project assets....Music Scores in this case....
The Music Score soundtracks are from the Adobe Premiere Elements (12 or 13) Music Score selections within the program.
And, they can be used in the users choice of export. As for "authorship", I guess you would point to Adobe, Premiere Elements version, Music Score.
Would the evaluators settle for the above information?

I bought Adobe premiere 13 for mac and it says blank disc when I try to upload it. Why? and How do I fix this?

The premiere elements 13 and Photoshop elements 13 for Mac disc reads as blank when inserted for upload. I bought it at Staples. Now it won't upload.
Is there a reason for this? Is it a faulty disc or does it need to be activated somehow?

Some places sell the product with a redemption code and not the serial number. Then the user has to go through the procedure of getting the serial number from the
redemption code. Another factor is whether or not you purchased a Student Teacher version that may have come with a Product Code.

Are you saying that you insert a disc marked specifically for Premiere Elements 13 Mac installation, and it opens to give you a blank disc?
When you write "for upload", do you mean insert disc for installation?
You can obtain tryout installation files from the following web site and insert your purchased serial number (if that is what you have) into them during installation.

Some purchased Adobe Premiere Elements Editor or Adobe Premiere Elements Quick Editor from the Mac App store instead of Premiere Elements Mac from Adobe.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using on your Mac computer?
Did you apply the Difference Matte write up that I posted? Many Premiere Elements Windows and Mac users have reported using the technique described for Green Screen.

Adobe Premiere CS6 for Mac, doesnt display the "subtitle/closed captions" option.

The option im looking for is "Untertiel" (german for Subtitle) as seen in this screenshot I made of the Tutorial Video
No if I try to do the same thing i get this:
The option "Untertitel" is simply not there!?!?! Why?
How can I get it?
As is said I use Adobe Premiere CS6 6.0.5 on my Mac
I would be sooo grateful for any help.

Hi Michael,
The tutorial you are using as a reference point is for premiere pro CC.
However you are using CS 6 Premiere pro.
Closed captioning feature was introduced in Premiere pro CC.
I am afraid this feature is not present in CS 6 Premiere pro.

I am trying to import video files encoded into the .m2ts (AVCHD) format into Adobe Premiere CS5 on my Mac. Does the Mac version of Premiere CS5 support .m2ts (AVCHD) video formats? I am currently testing this with the trial before I get this new version for the Mac. Could using trial be the problem that even CS5 Premiere doesn't open it on my Mac? Do I need the full version? I recently added effects to a number of clips in Adobe Premiere pro, now the playback has virtually stopped and is lagging. It will play for a mili second then pause.

Adobe premiere elements for 2 camera wedding videography

I am currently a user of Pinnacle studio 12. I do wedding videography part time and find it fairly easy to edit a wedding shot with two camcorders. I place video from the main camcorder on the main track and video from the second camcorder on the overlay track. I do pip with the overlay so I can watch video from both tracks at the same time. If I don't like what is on the overlay I make it 100% transparent or delete it(if I don't need the audio).
Are their any PE 7 users that are also Pinnacle users or that edit weddings with PE 7. How do the programs compare? Are they equally easy to work with? Which one produces the sharpest video to DVD?

I've used PE of various versions to do projects of 1 hr length (2.8 GHz / 2GB RAM / 2x500GB HD) One project was even 2 hours.
However, even if I *could* do a project that long, I now purposefully choose not to. I will do a project of 5-10 minutes, export the result to .AVI, and when I'm completely finished, create a final project that incorporates all of the finished .AVIs and creates a DVD menu. (I didn't come up with this workflow, it was advice I followed here on the boards).
Rather than being a pain, I find several advantages:
1) The biggest is that if your project ever becomes corrupted (or deleted or whatever), you lose 10 minutes of video and how much ever time it took to create it - not your entire thing. Basically, you're not putting all your eggs in one basket.
2) I find it easier to deal with smaller projects - working with a 5 minute timeline is much easier than a 1-hour timeline
3) It's somehow mentally satisfying to complete a section, mark it as "done", and move on.
4) The intermediate AVIs act sort-of as a backup of the original footage. I think Project Archive accomplishes the same thing, but this way it's backed-up as you go rather than after you're finished. Of course, my entire machine is backed up, too, so it's just extra protection.
5) For me, the DVD menu function has always been the flakiest part of PE (followed by the Titler). If the DVD project gets hosed, it's brain-dead simple to re-create - I just pull in all my AVIs and start over.
6) And, yes, it's easier on machine resources.
So, bottom line, now that I have my "5-Minute Workflow", I've really come to like it and wouldn't do an hour project. For me, it's not a pain, it really works well. My 2 cents.
