Adobe Premiere Supported Cuda / Open Cl graphics cards (Ram issue)?

I purchased an IMAC last year with  a AMD Radeon HD 6770M, graphics card. I was looking forward to using the Mercury Playback Engine in Premiere. It's on the list of supported cards in Premiere, unfortunately it didn't work because the cards ram was under the requirements. I wish it had mentioned that on Adobe's site, but you live and learn.
Now I want to get a macbook and not make the same mistake. I'm looking at the Intel Iris Graphics 5100 and the Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200 in some macbooks. Are there any of these cards out there that are unsupported due to low ram memory like the 6770M?

If I recall correctly, there are two flavors of the 6770M, one has 1 GB VRAM (supported) and one that only has 512MB VRAM. Sorry you weren't aware of that.

I would go with a MacBook Pro with the NVIDIA 750M in it. That's the GPU I'd use if upgrading my MacBook Pro. Underpowered GPUs are not really great if you want to keep a system around for a few years.

  • Adobe Premiere begins to open and then immediately closes.

I installed Adobe Premiere CS6 through Creative Cloud. Everytime I attempt to open the program, it begins to loads and as soon as the program opens it closes. I have a brand new HP Pavillion dv7 w/ a Quad core processor, 8 GB of Ram, & an AMD Radeon 6790 graphics card w/ 2GB DDR5. I have already followeed the troubleshooting directions of turning of the switchable graphics card and setting adobe premiere to the High Performance Graphics Card. What in the world is going on?

Sometimes a plug-in can cause this behavior.  Each crash puts the offending plug-in on a black list, so they don't get loaded next time.  It may take a few tries to get past all the problem plug-ins, so give that a go.

  • Oracle support and compatibility with graphics cards

I have been going through 2 weeks of hell getting any kind of meaningful information on Oracle linux 6.2 support for various graphics cards. I started with an ATI FireGl card that would not work with OEL 6.2. I am swapping that out in the seemingly futile hope that I can get an Nvidia GEFORCE 8800 to work. Either I am conducting my search using the wrong verbage(hard to imagine, but possible) or totally incompetant! I am here in one last desperate gamble that SOMEONE has gone through this pain before me. Maybe I am asking too much to be able to install 11GR2 on my server and still be able to use a Gnome desktop. Linux Mint worked perfectly with the ATI card, but alas, I could not install Oracle.
    Thank you in advance
    Dean

From what I understand, the error means that the X Window server cannot find a display attached to your DVI output, which actually means it does not support the DVI port where your display has been attached to. This is a problem of the video driver that simply lacks support for your graphics adapter.
I suggest to start by connecting only one display and verify it is connected to the DVI-1 port of the adapter. Support for DVI-2 requires support by the video driver.
Enterprise Linux should work with graphics adapters that are standard with server hardware sold by HP and Dell. Graphics adapters you can buy over the desk from ATI and NVIDIA are usually designed for the end-user desktop/game market and are all difficult to get fully working under Enterprise Linux. You can check the vendor support page to see if they provide driver support for SUSE and RHEL, but I doubt that it will work with the Oracle Linux UEK kernel. Driver software from these vendors are not open source and require a specific Linux kernel. Alternative drivers exist for http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/ for NVIDIA, but your success will vary, in particular if you need to support 2 monitors, which is not a typical server system setup.
You might have more luck using a Linux distribution for desktop systems, such as Fedora or Ubuntu. What you are planning to install from Oracle? It is easier to get Oracle Database working on unsupported Linux than trying to hack a video driver to support advanced features on an unsupported operating system. Or try a complete different approach and install Windows and use virtualization, like Oracle VirtualBox to run Oracle Linux out of the box. I would prefer to use virtualization even if my desktop computer would run Linux. There are just too many advantages I would not want to miss anymore.

  • Adobe Premiere CS5 and Open Directory users - Premiere fails to start

We have several class rooms with desktops that are configured for Open Directory.
When a student logs in he's actually working in his home folder on the server and his user is also managed by the server.
This works fine for all the applications that we're using except for Adobe Premiere CS5 and Adobe After Effects CS5. Whenever a student tries to start one of them the application will hang and only a force quit can stop it. It is impossible to start these applications.
However, it is possible to use Premiere and After Effects using a local standard on the desktops. But I don't want to go that route. I want the managed users to be able to use those applications.
Has anyone found a solution for this?
Are you able to use this applications in a same environment?
I've played a lot with the permissions on the library, system and Adobe folders, but the problem doesn't seem to be related to them.
    Setup:
AFP Server: Xserve intel running Mac OS X Server 10.6.5
OD Servers: Mac Mini Servers running Mac OS X Server 10.6.5
Clients: iMacs intel running Mac OS X 10.6.6

Safe Mode disables a lot of drivers and services, like networking.  That would seem to indicate that something is running on your system that interferes somehow.
I'm just not sure how you'd go about tracking that down.

  • Directx 9 Support - Intel 945 Express Graphics Card

This Z61T Model 9442-E6U has a lot of power and I use is mostly for business. I purchased software recently that requires DirectX9 and I continue to get a program error that my graphics card does not support DirectX 9. How can this be? Is there a work around? I am shocked that this computer, with all its power, does not support the DirectX 9. I have installed the latest DirectX9.0c software and the latest graphics drivers. Help!!!

That card will run the game I have it and its amazing but you will need at least 2 gigs of ram to run it.

    > I found this under After Effects features, So is this a lie?
    Native
64-bit operating system support, multiprocessor utilization, and
OpenGL acceleration help you work faster, taking full advantage of your
computer's power. Unmatched integration with other Adobe software
    further streamlines your workflow.
Of the three things mentioned (64-bit, multiprocessing, and OpenGL), two are hugely important and one is minor.
    > OpenGL—Interactive or OpenGL—Always On
    OpenGL
mode provides high-quality previews that require less rendering time
than other playback modes. OpenGL can also be used to speed up rendering
to final output. OpenGL features in After Effects rely on OpenGL
    features of your video hardware.
Yep. It can speed things up. Some. And at the expense of fidelity with the CPU renderer. The OpenGL-Interactive mode is the only one that most people use.
    > So you'll need to explain the above comment because I'm not clear about
what you're stating, or at least the part about OpenGl not being
    relevant to AE at all.
I said that "OpenGL is not very relevant at all to After Effects", not that it isn't relevant at all.
To use a car metaphor: If I wanted a car that went fast, I'd focus on horsepower, low-weight materials, and good tires first. Then, if I'd maxed all of those factors and still had some money left over, I might buy a spoiler for the back. But that wouldn't be my first area of focus.
Graphics cards can be very expensive. I see far too many people spend all of their budget on this less-important item and neglect the less expensive and more important factors like extra RAM and a second fast hard disk. I'm trying to keep you from making the same mistake.
BTW, the graphics card is much, much more important for Premiere Pro CS5. But that's a conversation for the Premiere Pro hardware forum.

Hello once more,I really gave it a though and I decided:
The OS will be Windows XP x64 bit so I can use CS5 / Or Mac...
    MAIN USES:
-After Effects:It's already 3 years that I use Adobe After Effects and I really want to go to Pro with it.
I want to be able to add HD FX in HD Videos with many layers, and maybe to long movies.
-Photoshop:I am still a beginner with it,But sure in the future I want to learn some hard things.
-Of course Be able to surf on the internet.
    SECONDARY USES:
-Playing the New Games:Like Call of Duty
Thats the thing I am doing with my current PC and I am pretty sure ill be doing with the new one...
AAE and PS are the programs I use the most.
So that's my list,if you think you get what I want, please write back
    And again,Thanks for everything.

What Machine to buy so it can do the above things?I can afford around 2700$ / 2000 Euros
2000 Euros won't buy you a Mac Pro, although you could buy a 27" iMac.
You can buy a pretty decent Windows machine for that price.  There are so many variables it's impossible to give you specifics, but here's a basic guide:
Buy the best CPU you can afford.  Faster CPUs give you better overall performance.  Multiple CPU cores make rendering and previewing faster.
You need 2GB of RAM for each CPU core, and a bit extra.  So, if you buy a dual Quad core machine, giving you 8 cores, you would be wise to have 16-24GB of RAM. If you buy a single Quad core machine, with 4 cores, you need 8-16GB of RAM.
You need lots of fast hard drive space to work with HD video, so buy as much as you can afford.  Avoid "green" drives and other 5400RPM drives, which can slow down your workflow.  If you can afford it, buy two drives - one for your system files, and one for media storage.
The display card is not so important in After Effects - any midrange card will do the job nicely - but because you want to play "new games", you may want a display card with a bit more power.

  • Graphics card & RAM

I have 3000 H100 desktop at home, I want to install Graphics card and also upgrade my RAM to 3GB (I have only two slots). Is this possible with 3000 H100 configuration.

Your system will support either a PCI based or an AGP based graphics card( but not the latest PCI-e based ones.)
You can get some good bargains depending on where you live.Consider buying an ASUS,or sparkle card(both of them have Nvidia and ATI based cards). They will cost around 1800 to 2500 depending on the model/video memory you get with them

  • Tritec DG-2 graphics card driver issues

It seems like I'm the only person with a Tritec DG-2 graphics card. None the less, I'm new to Solaris and am about at witts end. The tritec website lists the following directions"
Select the directory of your Solaris version and use the pkgadd command to
    install the driver package.
    # cd Solaris_2.7
    # pkgadd -d . TRTCdg2.u TRTCdg2w TRTCdg2cf
    Reboot your system
    # reboot
I've downloaded the driver then coppied the files to CD, I've downloaded the file from: http://www.tritecag.de/attachment/driver/DG2_Solaris_all_1.2.2.tar.gz
burned it to CD using Windows and Nero then tried to uncompress it in Solaris. For some reason Solaris sees: dg2_sola_gz on the CD.
    I then use: gzunzip -d dg2_sola_gz
then type the ls command it it shows dg2_sola
I try to change to the directory dg2_sola and it says it's not a directory.
What next...what gives...any suggestions? How do I install this bloody thing?

    Hello,
I've downloaded the file from: http://www.tritecag.de/attachment/driver/DG2_Solaris_all_1.2.2.tar.gz
burned it to CD using Windows and Nero then tried to uncompress it in Solaris. For some reason Solaris sees: dg2_sola_gz on the CD.
    I then use: gzunzip -d dg2_sola_gz
then type the ls command it shows dg2_sola
Windows has truncated the filename but the contents is ok. You just forgot to extract the files.
    tar -xvf dg2_sola
The above command extracts the files/directories from the archive (tar) with verbose display.

The 9600 has advantages over the 5200. If you aren't looking for "night and day" performance increases, the 9600 will offer increases in performance over the 5200, and may provide enough for your needs.
As a bonus, though, you would be able to run a 30" Cinema Display with the 9600, should you so desire.
