Adobe Presenter 8 / Captivate Import
Hi,
Can you tell me which version of Captivate can be successfully imported in Adobe Presenter 8? I know it has to be AS3 but am not sure what Captivate 5 and Captivate 5.5 are using. I have co-workers using C5, C5.5 and Captivate 6 and wanted to advise.
Thanks very much.
Susan
Susan,
Captivate 4 and newer have all output to AS3, so they should all work.

Using Adobe Presenter or Captivate for video narration
Case # 181254378
Customer said "
Using the latest version of either Adobe Presenter or Captivate on a Windows system with a web cam (or similar video capture device)
, we’d like to add a video narration to a PowerPoint presentation that is synchronized to animation contained within the slides. Cur
rently PowerPoint allows the addition audio narration in sync with slide animation. Adobe presenter allows for the addition of video
narration to a static slide (in edit view). This makes it difficult or impossible to easily time video narration to match a slides
animation. Ideally we want to record video narration with active slide animation similar to the way audio narration can be added wit
h animation playing. This removes a lot of guesswork and complication from the production process."
Please advice about the same wether this would do for a feature request or,
How can we go ahead and perform this?I figured it out.
If you select H.264 as the format you can then select YouTube Widescreen HD for the preset.
This will set everything up to convert your MTS file to 720p and reduce the file size by around 30% with little quality degradation in my experience so far.
The only problem I encountered was the video was kind of choppy when the camera panned but that was remedied by upping the frame rate from 24 to 29.97.
Hope this helps someone and if anyone has any suggestions to improve efficiency or reduce file size post it in here. -

Adobe Presenter 9 and PowerPoint 2013 - Missing Import Audio from PowerPoint button
I am only able to intermitantly use the Import button in Adobe Presenter 9 to Import Audio from PowerPoint. Why would I be able to do it on some presentations but not all? I thought it was an audio conversion issue but even when I convert the audio (when prompted by PowerPoint) it doesn't always allow me to import it.
I have found a solution if the original PowerPoint was a ppt file, follow these steps:
File > Save As a pptx file
Close PowerPoint (this helps with not corrupting the file)
Re-open the pptx file
File > Convert
Save with a new file name (this helps with not corrupting the file)
You should now have the Import from Presentation button if you go to the Presenter tab and click the Import button
I have not found a solution for pptx files yet. -
Difference between presenter and captivate?
Could somebody explain the differences between Adobe
Presenter and Captivate?Hi RazMcH and welcome to our community
Presenter takes content you author in PowerPoint and creates
a presentation out of it. So in this case, PowerPoint is your
authoring medium. Presenter also provides a Table of contents and
an area where you may insert a picture (head shot) of the person
presenting and a bio if you like.
Captivate content may be used on different slides of
Presenter. Presenter doesn't record screen activity as Captivate
does.
Hopefully something there was helpful... Rick -
Import Captivate Flash into Adobe Presenter
I'm using a combination of Captivate and Presenter to publish
online training to our intranet. I've successfully completed 3
learning modules, but this one's giving me a headache. It contains
3 separate Flash files, 2 of which originated with a Captivate
file. Those 2 don't play correctly once I've published the
Presenter file to our web server. The screen goes blank several
times during playback. I've never had this problem before. Is it a
memory issue? Is there some setting I can change, either when
publishing the Captivate file to Flash or in Adobe
Presenter?Hi there rizakag
Double check to see if where the blank areas are happening
are tied to slides inside the Captivate project where full motion
clips are. (You should be able to tell by looking at the Film Strip
that runs along the left side of Captivate. Full motion slides
typically have a large Camcorder icon in the corner.)
If so, it would seem to indicate that Presenter is not
handling these external files properly and there are other hoops
you may need to jump through.
Give that a go and report back with your findings.
Cheers... Rick -
Adobe Presenter 7 and Captivate - WHY?
In the ongoing Adobe product confusion where product names
and features overlap and where product families are supposed to
complement each other we now have Adobe Presenter 7.
It looks just like captivate with two important differences
in Presenter 7:
You lose the Captivate screen recording
You gain a slide progress pane in the presentation (not a
progress bar, it shows the slide titles vertically)
This Presenter 7 tool is billed as an import facility to
Flash enable and quiz enable PowerPoint slides.
Sounds just like Captivate and looks just like captivate with
the exception of the above items
So why bother to make another product? All they needed to do
was leave Captivate alon and then add the slide progress pane and
you have the same product with the ability to do screen recording.
Seems odd to add another product with another name to the already
bloated Adobe family of product. More unusual is the complete
overlap of features seen here. Presenter 7 seems to have some
features that might show up in the next release of Captivate, but
Presenter appears to add only the progress of the slides as a side
pane? Why bother to have two products?
It looks like the Adobe Connect Pro package includes
Presenter 7 and that makes sense, but why not just include
Captivate with Connect Pro and then add the navigation progress
pane found in Presenter. Way too much overlap of product here and
it woul dbe nice if captivate would include this one new feature
from Presenter.
Look at it this way, Captivate is Like "Presenter Pro" and
all they need to do is add one simple navigation progress pane,
convert to the enhanced sound editing screen and presto...
But why would anyone spend the additional $500.00 for a copy
of Presenter when it is basically Captivate with one minor addition
and no screen recording? Strange product plan, very strange indeed.
Joe C.My goodness I logged on just to ask why Adobe had Presenter
in addition to Captivate and I found this posting that says EXACTLY
what was on my mind.
When you consider the amount of overlap between the two
programs, it's bewildering. Anyone here from Adobe with some idea
of the reason behind making Presenter? From Adobe's presentation of
the product, Presenter basically publishes presentations, pools and
quizzes in flash or pdf. -
Adobe Presenter 7 and PowerPoint 2010. No Import audio from presentation button
In Adobe Presenter 7 and PowerPoint 2007 I have the ability to import existing audio narrations by clicking on Import and then clicking the "Import from presentation" button. The button is missing in PowerPoint 2010. Any ideas on how to get it back?
Hello,
In PowerPoint 2010; "Import Audio from PowerPoint" is missing .We have logged bug for this. And we will definitely fix this in next release of Presenter. Please use PowerPoint 2007 to use this feature.

How to integrate adobe flash widgets from Adobe captivate with Adobe Presenter?
Hi all,
We are a group of students who are creating a number of flash widgets that allows them to create e-learning activities. We are creating specific widgets in Flash for use in Captivate and then the results of the widgets in Adobe Presenter. The client noticed that widgets that work in Adobe Captivate don't always work in Adobe Presenter. Is there a way to make this function correctly?
Secondly, if it isn't possible to make that work correctly through the first method, is it possible to utilise Adobe Air to do the same or similar process. The client would prefer if we could integrate anything we use with an LMS and SCORM. But we believe it may not be possible to do this with Adobe Air.
Would someone be able to help us out with this?
ThanxSome of the functionalities of CP4 (I assume that you use this version?) only work in a CP-published SWF, p.e. using the right mouse click as a trigger. I have inserted several CP-SWF's into Adobe Presenter, while using some of the widgets provided with CP4 and did not have any problems with these (p.e. Flash button). But I do not know what kind of widgets you created. Do they function all right in CP4 itself?

Is there a way to attach files into a Captivate Project like Adobe Presenter?
All,
There are things I like about Adobe Presenter and things I like better in Adobe Captivate. Is there a way to attach files like spreadsheets, PDFs, and Word documents in Adobe Captivate like you can in Adobe Presenter? It is real easy to do and I find it hard to imagine tha Captivate does not have an easy mechanism for doing this unlike Adobe Presenter which does it naturally.
I am working on a project that has a complicated Table of Contents that Adobe Presenter cannot handle (yet Articulate works creates TOCs without any issue). All the slides visible or none or lack of grouping options are not accpetable. So I am redoing this in Captivate. For the most part I am having no issues with the TOC but the point of this little project is to disseminate a spreadsheet to audience members that care to download it. Here is where Presenter is better since it is real simple to do this. Am I just lost in Captivate or do I need to do something "un-godly" complicated for a simple task?
MikeHi Mike,
I'm using Presenter too, not only Captivate. Use Presenter often as wrapper for CP-movies (if I do not need the right click functionality). And I agree: some aspects are more attractive in Presenter (thinking about the Notes panel, the automatic adaption of the languages...). But you have to miss grouping in the TOC, and for real eLearning with interactivity, branching, I go for Captivate.
If you want some features transferred to Captivate, why not filling in a feature request? The form is on the main page of these forums.
Just wanted to help you. The action 'Open URL or File' is not that complicated to use.

Full motion .swf's in Adobe Presenter
This has been one of the most frustrating and time consuming
technical issues I've ever encountered. This is my 3rd posting (2
on a Captivate forum, 1 on a Presenter forum), and no one is able
to help me! Surely I can't be the only one to encounter the blank
screens that appear in my .swf files embedded in Adobe Presenter.
When I publish the Captivate file to .swf, multiple files are
generated. There are around 20 of them called "Fullmotion"... I can
view the main .swf file fine in IE, but when I insert the Flash
file in Presenter and publish the file, the video in the published
presentation plays for a while, then a white screen pops up, goes
back to playing, white screen again, etc... I figured out that
those white screens appear whenever there's a "Fullmotion" .... At
first I thought it was a Flash version issue, but that isn't the
case. Then I thought I had my answer when someone suggested to turn
off the borders. That didn't work.
What's the deal here? We paid a lot of money for these Adobe
products, you'd think they'd work together! Or that they would at
least offer free support ! Please someone help me!!Hi,
The John Daigle solutions doens´t help me either and I
dont know why. But I
fix it using Flash to import/export each fullmotion in
version 7 with AS
1.0 and "import" this files to the respective slide to change
for the older
one.
I hope that captivate´s team fix it in the next update.

Video playback issue for Adobe Presenter 9 when publishing to Adobe Connect Pro 7
Hello!
I am having an issue with video playback for Adobe Presenter 9. When I preview the presentation on my computer there are no issues with any of the MP4 videos that I have loaded into my presentations. However, when I publish the presentation to Adobe Connect and access the URL the videos are either delayed or do not appear at all. We are using our own Adobe server which we purchased in 2008, along with Adobe Connect Pro 7. We recently updated our Adobe Presenter software to version 9. Is there an incompatibility issue between Adobe Presenter 9 and our current Adobe Server/current version of Adobe Connect? Or do I need to do something different in Adobe Presenter when importing the videos? Note: I have tried FLV videos and had the same issue.
We are trying to launch of series of webinars (each webinar has between 15-42 slides), which was the whole purpose of updating our Adobe Presenter and Adobe Captivate software....hopefully we can resolve this video issue.
Thanks!
DanaConnect 7 didn't support MP4 video content, as I recall. Another issue is that Connect rooms are using Action Script 2 (AS2) while Presenter 9 uses AS3, and the two code languages don't play well together. You don't mention if you are using the meeting application to display the presentation, but it is worth mentioning. If the presentations are stand alone, then the AS3 issue should be non-existent, but the MP4 support may be.
Is there a reason you haven't updated the Connect software to Connect 9 (or at least Connect 8.1 where the Connect application became AS3 as a whole and supported MP4 content)? -
I have been trying this converter out today and yes it converts Captivate projects but I am guessing the majority of e-learning content generators require a converter for Adobe Presenter content.
When I import slides from PowerPoint (that I have edited with Presenter) it does not import sound, remember the animation timings etc.. so takes a lot of work to make it into.
Will I have to do this for all of my existing Presenter projects or are there plans for this converter to support .swf files generated in Presenter?
Regards,
Dave.Always use the latest version of the DNG converter that will run in your OS.
As SS says, the DNG works on folders only, not on individuals files. THe files are not supposed to "load". They will remain untouched and the DNG Converter will generate raw DNG files (copies) from each and every raw file.
You can then open the DNG files with any relatively recent version of ARC.
