Adobe Print Properties Issue

I am having an issue with the print properties being extremely delayed when hitting the print icon on Adobe Reader XI. I reverted to Adobe X to see if that would fix the issue, but it did not. I am running adobe reader XI on several (32) different Terminal servers that are on a Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system. I also have a server running Adobe Pro that is used by the people that have been assigned licensing for it. Both are displaying the same issue. Sometimes the print properties can take as long as 4 minutes to appear after hitting the printer icon. Once the print property is open, the file prints normally. The printers are all networked and running on a print server running the same OS as the terminal servers. I have unmapped the the printers and remapped them as well while troubleshooting.

SAP Adobe Print forms - Issue with Chinese characters

Hi All,
We are using SAP Adobe Print forms to create a business document. This is designed using Adobe Life Cycle Designer (ALD). The form is displayed in Chinese language. The requirement is to display captions for few fields in bold.
When designing the form we have put the caption as BOLD but when the actual form is generated only few characters are displayed in bold.
I am not sure if this is problem with Adobe Reader or should there be any specific fonts to be installed in the ADS server?
Please let me know which all font packs needs to be installed in the local machine?

Now, I changed the font in the designer to "Adobe Song Std L" and made the text as "BOLD". Then I get a message

Questions:
1. Does "Adobe Song Std L" support characters in BOLD?
2. Do I need to install any of those BOLD fonts? If so, where can I get them?
3. I understand that the BOLD font needs to be installed in the local machine (where the design actually happens so that the font can be specified), the ADS Server (where the actual PDF is rendered) and also in the viewers local machine (where the PDF document is viewed). Is this correct?
4. Is the font a freeware or will there be any licensing issues?

Adobe Print Form Issue

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement of making a particular Table line BOLD in the Main window in Data Subform. This subform is flowed content. I am writing the Java Script Code as-
if (!this.TAXM1.rawValue.isNull)
this.ARKTX.font.weight ="bold";
But This is not being saved at the Table-Data Level.Can anybody help on this. Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot or replying. The issue is not of accessing a form field. I can always drag and drop the field (say named yyhouse_building) onto the form and hide it and access its value as $.yyhouse_building.value and code works fine. But I dont want to define a hidden field just as a means to access data source field. Imagine a scene where you have 10 source fields which are only used for calculation purpose you would have to define 10 hidden fields in the form and then use the form fields in the calculation. This is preposterous. Its not a clean fuel.
MY requirement is to access dataset field straightway for my scenario....
Once again for understanding purpose let me state that my data structure (in ABAP) is something like
Data : begin of P9014_TAB occurs 0,
               YYHOUSE_BUILDING type ....
               YYLAND_PROP type ...
               YYPLINTH type ...
               YYSTOREY type ...
               YYLAND_AREA type ....
         end of P9014_TAB.
And I want to access yyhouse_building from individual record (calculate event of column fields....) of table rows

Adobe Print Form Issues

I am using Adobe Life cycle designer 8.0 version, and i have some clarifications.
1. Is the body page concept no longer available in 8.0.
2. What is the difference between body page and Subform.
3. What is the limit of master pages we can have.
4. Limit of Sub forms/Body page in Master page.
5. What is the exact use of Interface being separated from the Design part compared to Smart form( What I know is Interfaces can be reused), Is there any other usage of it being separate.
6.What is a XSD file when I am using XML Schema based interface.How can we generate if from Webdynpro application i am having a interactive form desinged.
7.Any references to learn to FormCalc Scripting.

first: I am sure you wold be able to solve some of the questions yourself if you would search for a while.
second: just a hint: it is difficult to answer so many questions at once.
answers:
1) body pages = top level subforms, always available
2) it is not the page if that has a parent subform
3) I am not aware of any limit
4) I am not aware of any limit
5) reusability is important, it also creates a borderline bbetween the adobe and the SAP part, it helps one to give tasks in SAP to one guy and tasks in Adobe to the other
6) XSD describes the structure of the XML file, it is a description of the object where XML is the instance of that object

Enhanced MetaFile to Adobe Print Driver

I have an Windows application that plays an enhanced metafile into a print device context then executes some TextOut calls. This works fine for actual print devices. I have a customer that reports that when printing to the Adobe Print driver to create a PDF the enhanced metafile content is not generated in the PDF output. Is this a configuration issue or a Adobe Print driver issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That only used to be offered as a Distiller server product which is now EOL'd and no longer available. These days that functionality is absorbed by Adobe LiveCycle ES server products.

Issue with Print Properties button not responding in Adobe Reader 10.1.10

We've recently been upgrading Adobe Reader 9.4.4 to 10.1.10 and started having a few reports of the Print -> Properties box in Adobe Reader not responding. When this happens Adobe Reader will crash if you click on the Print button. If you go into Devices and Printers and try and access the Printer Properties you are prompted to install the driver for the device. It does seem to be quite random, it will work fine for days and the suddenly happen. I've done testing and have been able to get it happen by opening Outlook, Word or Excel but it is completely hit and miss. Sometimes the issue will happen and other times no matter how many times you open and close the various applications it's fine.
Fortunately it only seems to be an issue when accessing Properties, if you just print there are no options which is probably why we don't have more complaints. Unfortunately this didn't come to light until we'd rolled it out to 2000+ machines across 8 locations.
So far I've tried the following:
1. Upgraded to Adobe Reader 11.0.9 and same issue
2. Created a test print queue using a different print driver (my machine has a different driver again and is using a different print server)
3. Uninstalled a number of applications that have caused us issues with Office 2010 due to dodgy addins (Workshare and HP Filesite)
4. Rolled back to 9.4.4 and seems OK. Problem here is that they receive PDFs in formats not compatible with older than X.
System is Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 32bit, Office Professional 2010, printing is to Ricoh Equitrac (Follow You)
Anyone have a fix for this or come across this before. I'm going to try testing with a Postscript driver to see if that helps, which is the last item on Adobe's troubleshooting list.

Select a PDF file, CMD+I, check the Open With section, and ensure that AR is selected. If not, then select it and click on the Change All button. Alternatively, select Preview, which is my default PDF reader.

Adobe Reader X cannot respond to printer properties number of copies issue

Hi to all!
I have an issue using Adobe Reader X 10.0.1, 10.1.0, 10.1.2, when select File > Print > Page Handling: Copies = 1, click Printer Properties > Page Setup, specify eg. Copies : 5, it print 1 copy only instead of 5 on Windows platform.
Happen to a number of printers, eg. HP, Epson, Xerox, Canon, Brother printer, etc.
For some reason, Adobe Reader X cannot respond to the No. of copies specified in the printer properties.
Anyone have any solutions or workarounds to solve this issue besides specifying Adobe Reader X : File>Print>Page Handling: 5 copies?
Is there any website, forum, supporting documents, with regards to above scenario?

Sorry for the late response!
The users had a habit of going into the printer properties to specify other printer options eg. 2-sided printing, manual feed printing, heavy paper, etc... besides the number of copies inside the printer properties as well. Therefore, they prefer to do all the various changes in the printer properties instead of changing it at the Adobe Reader dialog.
The same method were applied by all the users in Adobe Reader 9.4.7 and there were perfectly no issue at all! All the network printers (23 different brands and models in the network) responded to the printer properties "number of copies" accordingly.
It seems that Adobe Reader X dialog Page Handling: No of copies, cannot synchronise and recognise the "No of copies" specified in the printer properties. This symptom was tested and found to be the same behaviour for different printer manufacturers. Wonder if there is a bug with Adobe Reader X as this issue did not occur for Adobe Reader 8 and 9 versions. The users were using Reader 8 and 9 versions before and there were no complaints until it was eventually all upgraded to Reader X, starting from 10.0.1, 10.1.0 and now 10.1.2.
What do you think could be the cause?

For the problem that the issue is not happening on a different Account, Adobe does have a KB trying to save your orriginal account:

Folowing these steps should actually result in either that you are able to work on your original Account, or that you at least did everything possible (according to Adobe) to save your account.
You should not be required to use a Second Email for using Photoshop, This does not make much sense, Your AdobeID and OS Account are (or at least should) not (be) linked to eachother.
Hopefully this will help you to work with the original Account again.

Adobe printing issues

We have a situation in which we need our adobe program to default to a different printer than the windows default printer.
Example:
We have a dot matrix printer set as windows default printer. We have to keep this as the default printer because we use a program called ADP and it has to have this printer as a default to work.
We also have a color laser printer that we print with one of our websites that uses adobe. The website automatically prints to which ever printer is selected in adobe. We do not get an option to change it. So it always prints to the dot matrix printer.
We have found a trick in which we can open adobe, print to the color laser printer, and go to the website and print and it will go to the color printer, but we have to do this all the time.
Is there a registry entry or something in which we can change the default printer in adobe? I have read about something with adobe remembering the last printer used but I think it is in version 8 or higher.
Unfortunately, we current have to use version 7 due to some incompatibility with a website we work with.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PLEASE!!!! Is there anyone I can talk to about our problem with CS4, Windows 7 & and Xerox print issues. The Adobe software is the only one that seems to have a problem printing and since replacing our Xerox printers (7750, 6350) is not currently an option, I need a resolution.
We are a small design firm and I have 4 licenses for CS4. We generally upgrade every other version -- which means we would be investing in CS6 when it is released. I know we are small potatoes in the Adobe world, but this is business and I can't imagine (just looking at all of the threads online), that someone is not working to find a fix for this.
We have downloaded and installed the latest Win7 drivers for both printers. This did not resolve the issue.
HELP -- This is very frustrating. Right now we are saving everything as JPEG files to print -- not a good solution for a graphic design firm.

I have an error message that just started which is preventing me from printing to PDF.
Invalid "Adobe PDF" printer properties
Do not change spooler settings.
Please select "Print directly to the printer" option (from Adobe PDF
printer properties "Advanced" tab).
Prior to this error message I was able to print to PDF
I have checked for updates and I have the latest updates installed.
I have changed to "print directly to printer" and nothing happens. No error message but also no PDF file. The status shows "Error - Printing".

Right click on it and select properties
Then the Advanced tab
Is Spool Print Documents selected?
If so, Deselect, Enable Advanced Printing Features

Wrote this code in ONACTIONSEARCH.I am getting my entries in internal table ISFLIGHT.
but unable to bind it to adobe form and show in the form.

* navigate from <CONTEXT> to <ADOBE_DATA> via lead selection

Error is Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.
FYI.. I just dragged and dropped 2 elements from DATA to Adobe form.what are the other changes do i need to do in form gui elements so that it shows the internal table contents?

Cannot change Printer Properties in Word 2010 with J6480. Properties revert to default setting

When I attempt to change Printer Properties in Word 2010, they simply revert back to the default setting. I am unable to use the Printer Properties within the Word 2010. If the default is grayscale, that is all the printer will print unless I change the default setup in the Control Panel. It appears to be an incompatibility with Office 2010 software as other programs allow the change of Printer properties.

I have the exact identical problem. Brand new printer (HP PhotoSmart C4780) on a brand new PC (Windows 7). I cannot access the printer properties dialog box when the PDF file has been opened in an embedded Adobe Viewer window in Internet Explorer.
When I select [Print] from Word or Adobe Viewer, or anywhere else, I can then press the [Properties] button and it opens the printer properties just fine.
But if I open a PDF document through Internet Explorer, clicking on that [Properties] button doesn't do anything. No error or anything. If I press the [Save] in the Adobe Acrobet-embedded Internet Explorer window, it too does nothing. This leads me to think it is an Adobe Acrobat issue. However, I have found nothing in their support forums on this topic.
Does anyone out there have any ideas?

Print Button Widget disappears if print properties is cancelled

Hello All,
Maybe I am doing something wrong, but when using the Captivate 5 print button widget the button hides when the clicked. The print properties panel appears. That all makes sense (the button does not need to appear in the screen print), but if the user cancel the print job without actually printing it, then the button does not re-appear... This seems like a major flaw.
Has anyone successfully used this widget dispite this flaw or have any idea why it is not displaying again if the print dialogue box is cancelled out.

Xerox Phaser 7800 Printer Status issue

I have a Xerox Phaser 7800 printer printing to a Windows 2008 Server R2 print server. While printing to the server the Xerox printer setup will continue to insert print jobs into the queue that say "Printer Status". The "Printer Status", print jobs can be deleted without effecting the final printing. They will also timeout if you just leave them in the queue. From what we can tell, these "Printer Status" jobs are asking for status info before sending the print job (is paper loaded, toner leverls OK, etc...) Why they need this info... I don't know. When the Xerox printer setup is printing directly to the printer, the printer responds approperiatley and everything is fine.
Since we operate in a public printing environement (University) we need to be able to control access to the printer via a printer server.
Xerox's official stance on this is that they do not support printing from Mac OS X to a Windows print server. It is an unsupported configuration. This seems to be a commone stance for printier manufactures. We have a Ricoh printer with similar issues.
On the Ricoh printer we were able to locate the section of the PPD code that makes the similar request of printer status and comment out those lines so the request is no longer sent. I'm having a little more trouble with the Xerox PPD in locating the lines of code to comment out.
If anyone has experience editing PPDs you help would be greatly appreciated!
If anyone has influence at Xerox, help them understand their mistake and to at the very least change the PPD to allow the "Printer Status" requests to be suppressed as part of the printer setup.

Same issue here with Adobe Reader XI 11.0.06. It will NOT collate whatsoever, regardless of the settings on the Print Dialog or the Printer Properties. It works with all other apps. Using HP Postscript drivers that come with Windows 7 SP1.
