Adobe Printer Not Converting psd to pdf

I have a Photoshop CS4 Extended user who is attempting to print a psd file to her Adobe pdf printer using the following page set up settings:
Adobe PDF page size 22"x34",
print quality set to 4000dpi,
Truetype as "download as softfont".
The user gets as far as selecting the page setup settings in the print dialoge box and clicking okay to print but the "save as file location" dialoge never appears. However, she is able to save/print/convert from psd to pdf with the same settings except for the page size being 11x17.
User stated that this is a common work flow for her but started running into trouble late last week.
Troubleshooting Steps
All Adobe PS updates applied
Windows OS updates applied
Installed Adobe PDF Converter printer on a local port - With this printer, the file goes through all the usual steps and is able to execute the file conversion process even showing the progress bar but the file never appears in the selected location. Further troubleshooting steps included changing the save file to location settings from Adobe Prompt to a folder on the desktop but result was the same.
Hardware and Software Specs
Win 7 pro 64 bit
CS4 Extended
Adobe Acrobat XI Standard

It has EVERYTHING to do with the pixel dimensions of the image, so-many-pixels wide by so-many-pixels high.
The limit, already outlined by Mylenium, is 60,000 pixels in either of the two dimensions.
What he was suggesting—obviously—is to RESAMPLE the image. With the "Resample" box checked [ √ ], set the ppi to 300 ppi or less, and save that as a copy.  That copy will print.
Changing the ppi alone without resampling the image is, of course, sheer nonsense.
As mylenium wrote:
What you see is perfectly logical. 4000 DPI seems slightly insane for any use case I can think of, especially at those sizes. You wouldn't need that resolution [even] to print a 100x100m mural…
That's 100 meters by 100 meters, or some 110 yards by 110 yards.
For a page size of  22"x34", you don't need more than 200 ppi, maybe less; but 300 ppi is doable.

  • Not converting word to pdf

I installed adobe acrobat 5.0 on window 2000 server but its not converting word to pdf when I click by toolbal button system hangs.

AA5 is not licensed for use in the server mode. As long as Acrobat is not available for use off the server, only local use, you should be OK. Try to print from WORD to the Acrobat Distiller printer. If that does not work, then try printing to file. If that works, then open the file in Distiller to see if you get a PDF. If you do, then AcroTray is not running. It may be that AcroTray will not run properly on W 2000 Server. As I recall, some folks tried with the 2003 server and had problems.

  • Adobe Reader X Not Converting To / From PDF ?

I have a licensed copy of Adobe Reader X Version 10.1.08 which was purchased a couple of years ago & registered. I cannot now convert to / from PDF without being redirected to an obligatory online subscription. Why is this so ?

You probably had Adobe Acrobat, not Reader, which is indeed a paid product with the ability to convert to/from PDF files.
If you also installed Reader you can remove it and go back to using Acrobat, which has all the functionalities that Reader has, and more.

  • How to convert .psd in .pdf

    Hi everyone,
We have do our catalog in more psd files and wanted to convert it in pdf files.
It's very easy to do and we can join the different pdf to one global but the problem is the end size, more than 100Mb.
We have seen online some pdf catalog with 55 pages and just 6Mb size, with good resolution.... our has just 40 pages more but 90 Mb more and not a top resolution, not so cool for our customers.
Can someone help me to convert it for good resolution and not heavy Mb ?
You can help me in French too ( i'm french )
    Thanks
    Best regards

I think you will find many catalogs that you are referring to are not simple graphics, but a file from a layout tool with the necessary graphics embedded at a reasonable resolution. You may be asking for a lot from full page graphics.

  • Excel borders not converting properly into PDF

    Hello,
I am using Excel 2010 on a PC. I have a double line borders on all my tables. When I convert them to PDF the double lines blur together into one line unless I zoom out pass 100%. I thought I fixed the issue by making the border a darker color but when I imported the PDF into indesign they blur together again and most of them print out that way. (The document I am working on will eventually both be on the web and in print).
This does not happen with every table and I can't figure out what the difference is between a table that works and one that doesn't. I've played around with the smooth lines with limited results. Below is one of the tables where the double line on top blurs together.
    Thanks!

Are you printing or using PDF Maker? What job settings are you using? What version of Acrobat? Have you tried using the Press or Print job settings? There may also be an issue with the default display resolution used in the Settings (typically at 1200 dpi) -- I use 300 dpi.

  • Firefox or Adobe will not allow downloading useable PDF files anymore. Started with last update of Adobe/Firefox.

For the last few days, I think it was after an update in Firefox or an update in Adobe reader, I cannot save a PDF file from the web and then open it with either Adobe Reader or PDFlite.
The file opens and I can read it just fine within Firefox using Adobe Reader, I guess as a plug in.
But if I save the file as a PDF it saves just fine, with a PDF extension, but when I try to read the PDF file with Adobe or PDFlite it gives an error message - "Adobe Reader could not open <filename> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
I download a lot of datasheets so this is suddenly a major problem for me.
    Thanks - Don

Hi Don, there might not be an advantage for you if Adobe works well for you. There are some articles on the motivation for developing a non-proprietary PDF reader -- which is definitely a work-in-progress -- but I don't have the references handy.
Let me tackle some of those individual items:
    (1) Unknown publisher warning. This is odd, do you notice that with any other downloads?
It might be a feature of Windows download security. By default, Firefox marks downloads as having come from the internet. You can turn that off by turning off Firefox's antivirus integration. Your real-time AV software still will check files once they are downloaded; this feature is really for people who do not have full-time AV, only on-demand AV.
    To toggle that setting:
    (i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful. This is Firefox's about:config preferences editor.
(ii) In the filter box, type or paste '''scan''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone''' to switch it from true to false. You're done with about:config.
    Does that affect the warning?
    (2) Where do you see "Save as PDF"?
I have "Save Page As" on the menu. That worked when I tried a simple PDF. By worked I mean it opened without complaint in Adobe Reader. I suspect it's doing the same thing as the download button.

According to Compatible web browsers and PDFMaker applications, Acrobat 9 is not compatible with Office 2010.

  • I had bought creative cloud cs6 2013, but my adobe will not convert my papers into a pdf, It is asking me to buy into it. I thought all the adobe series came with this creative cloud package?

I need some assistance with my Adobe. It is asking me to upgrade and purchase, when this has never happened to me before. I am taking classes through the art institute and the only way to submit my papers are in a pdf. I had paid with my school money for a 3 yr subscription to Creative cloud cs6, and I can not use it. And on top of that, I had to uninstall, and reinstall 3x onto my new hard drive, because the old computer crashed in Aug 2014. Please help. I miss talking to someone over the phone with me to walk me through this.

  • Using Adobe Forms and document will not convert to a PDF file

I just purchased the Forms add on pack today and I was able to create a form with no trouble.  I would like to have the form downloaded as a PDF (which is an option in this package) and I keep getting and error message that says Adobe is unable to download the form at this time.  I tried opening and downloading the form on different computers at my work, all generating the same error message.  Is there an Adobe issue, or could this be a security feature that is not enabled on my highly blocked/monitored work computer that I have limited control over?  I can view the form as a link, embedded URL, and web form, just having so much difficulty getting it to open as a PDF, really the only way I want to use this program.  If this is a temporary problem, then I can wait until its resolved, however, if I can never open any forms I create as a PD, the package is useless to me.

  • Can not convert MSWord to PDF

I am using Acrobat 7 with Word 2003, and Windows 7. When I want to convert a file, I hit the Adobe PDF tab on top of Word. It then asks me "Save PDF as" and it generally has the file name that I just saved. I click on "Save" and it starts converting like it always had, but, now when the box comes up that says "Now printing page 1 of "whatever name document"" and then it just freezes there. I have to do the ctl alt del and then do a forced stop for it to quit. It just started doing this all of a sudden. I have not added any programs to my computer. Any ideas of how I can fix this?

Go to the Adobe PDF printer properties and change the port to File. Then try again. I am not sure where the file will be saved, but the file that is created will be a PS file, likely with a PRN extension. Then open that file in Distiller to complete the conversion. Keep in mind that I am giving you a possible work around since AcroTray will likely not work with Win7. For Win7 you really need AA9 for full functionality. If you are able to get the conversion to work this way, you might then try watched folders in Distillers. Your only choice is to try various workarounds since some parts are almost sure to fail with Win7. (I have been successful even with AA5 on Win7, though I do not recommend it. I did it as a test.) In AA7, PDF Maker that you seem to have used, is a front end for the printer.
If you want to try out basic operation, try printing to the Adobe PDF printer with the print-to-file check box activated. Then open in Distiller to complete the process. If that works, then there is hope. If you have a x64 system, then everything I have said may still fail and you may have no choice but to upgrade.
