Adobe Pro XI v 11.0.09 scanning issue

In this version I am suddenly unable to edit pdf's that have been scanned and then emailed to me. Has anyone else experienced this recently and found a fix?

I am actually checking this for another employee. She says that she used to be able to open the pdf, go to tools/edit text and images, but now when she tries, she can only add text, not edit. She gets a message about "Acrobat has detected that this page does not have editable text or has scanned content. Such documents are best edited by converting to another format using the Export File option in Content Editing Panel".
She also said that when she tries to save it to her desktop, and then open it, she then gets a message that it "cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form".
I don't use Adobe Pro, so I can't help her much. Should she really be able to take a pdf that she received from someone in an email that was scanned into the email account and then sent, and open it and edit it in Adobe?

Here is my dilemma: We have a fillable form created in Acrobat Pro 8.0 on a Mac. It is sent to a Windows Vista (Acrobat Reader) user who then fills it, saves it and sends it to a Windows XP user (again using reader). When the XP user opens it, the characters are all changed to dots. If it is sent to another Vista user, it is fine. To me, it sounds like a font issue. How do I check to see where the fonts are embeded? Originally the form was created in MAC InDesign then imported into Acrobat to insert the fillable fields. Our grpahics person is not sure where to check the settings in Acrobat. Thanks again.

Yes, that appears how Mavericks works right now. However, you can open the Address Panel, select all your contacts, then click the To (or CC, or Bcc) buttons to move the selection to the address field.
If it is not already in the Toolbar, right-click on the Toolbar and select Customize Toolbar…
Then, drag the address panel up to wherever you want it.
You may also want to add it to the New Message window in the same way.

Adobe Pro X no longer shows pages as it scans.

I have to terminals scanning into Adobe Pro X using the TWAIN driver on Canon DR-6030Cs and on one machine Adobe shows the pages as they are being scanned, and on the other it will not show the scanned pages until you click scanning complete. I've compared all the scanning settings and they are identical. Does anyone know of any setting deeper in the system or in some other menu that would cause this?

Since you have the same acrobat and same settings in both terminals, are you using the same scanner driver on both the terminals as well?
If both the scanners are the same scanner drivers then you would see same interface and overview in both terminals.

Please ensure that you are using Adobe Acrobat and not Reader to convert PDF file to word or excel.
Could you tell me whether it is a scanned document? Does this happen with all PDFs or any specific one?
Do you get any error message? What exactly happens when you try doing the same?

"Moody" Adobe Pro 8?

I have several problems that are intermittent with my Adobe Acrobat Pro:
1) I am adding fields in a pdf and editing the fields (right justified, Arial, size 12) and I get about 1 or 2 fields done and then I get an Adobe error window with "Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
2) I also have this problem (sometimes) when I scan in a document. Same error as above.
3) Added to this, I cannot do any updates, it always encounters an error.
Sounds like something "stepped on" something else, but I'm not a techie. I'm using Windows XP, Adobe Pro 8.1.1 Hope you can help, Lee

Oh, sounds like you might not have a legit copy of AA Pro. I would start back with a reinstall. I hope that you have a good copy, but if you got it cheap, it may not be. If the download does not recognize it, then you may indeed have problems. With it not even showing up in the repair area, there is even more of a possibility that you have an invalid version. All I can suggest at this point is to reinstall.
Right now there is a problem at the TechSoup site. If you search Google, there are others who have had problems installing AA8 from TechSoup. Not sure about the issues, but you may have a source problem, possibly even software with a virus if I read the message at the home page correctly.

I need help re Adobe Pro 9 and Adobe Xi Standard

I recently bought a Fujitsu Scan Snap for my home office. I installed the Scan snap with no issues. Unfortunately, there are no real instruction with regard to the software end of the installation process. The scanner came with additional software (Adobe XI standard). I loaded it too. Pro to loading XI, I had Adobe Pro 9 that I used religiously. I am freelance paralegal and need the ability to bates label documents and manipulate pdfs. I went back and uninstalled XI and that did not work either. I went on a forum and got feedback that when I installed XI it deleted 9 Pro. There was nothing that told me that my Pro 9 would be deleted when I installed the Xi standard. At this point I am screwed because I no longer have my 9 Pro disks to reinstall it. What are my options to get the capabilities I need? I would prefer to have my old Pro 9 back as I know how to use it efficiiently. Can you still purchase 9 pro? I am clueless because someone else set my computer up a long time ago and I do not have any of the software to reload. Another questions, if I cannot purchase 9 Pro, can I upgrade fron XI standard to XI pro and will it have the bates labeling feature?

Did you ever register Acrobat 9? If so, then you should be able to find your serial number for it under your account here on adobe.com ...
Getting the installer for Acrobat 9 is trickier, though. Adobe doesn't sell it anymore, but you might still be able to get it from them.
You should be able to purchase an upgrade from XI Standard to XI Pro, yes. This can be done via Products - Acrobat on adobe.com.

If the document is not a scanned image or protected from editing then you should be able to edit it. I would have to guess you have a scan and when you converted to Word, you ran OCR (Optical Character Recognition) on it converting the scanned image to live text.
This is the forum for the free Adobe Reader which can not edit or redact.

Adobe Pro 9 can't find my printer/scanner

When I try to create a pdf from a scan using Adobe Pro 9 (on Window7), I get a message that the printer drivers are not installed or the printer is not connected. They are and it is! I can print from Word, etc. just fine. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

It's connected on to my wifi network, it's supposed to let me print wirelessly. It's not showing up on my mac book. I can't print anything.

Je vais donc supposer qu'on parle d'Acrobat Pro.
Et dans ce cas :
- oui, c'est le bon produit.
- oui l'OCR d'Acrobat est un des plus performants du marché.
- pour le reste le mieux est de tester, Acrobat est disponible en version démo 30 jours.

Adobe Pro X and Bates/Page Numbering Cuts off 1/3 of Page - Please Help

We have been using both the bates and page numbering features in Adobe Pro X on Windows 7 with various .pdf files. However, when we scan files using Adobe Pro 6 on XP in combination with a Visioneer/Xerox Documate 632 scanner, and when adding bates or page numbers to these files, the image on the page shifts and cuts off one-third of the image. (We use Adobe Pro 6 and XP with this scanner because Pro 6 is not compitable with Windows 7 and Pro X requires too many mouse clicks when compared to Pro 6; thus saving time in the field. We like the page and bates numbering feature in Pro X because it shrinks the document to avoid overwriting texts and graphics.
Do you have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue aside from using Pro X with the time spent using the additional mouse clicks?

If you try to print any other document from any other application. Did you check, are you facing the same issue or not?
Have you tried to install latest drivers of the printer.

Scanner not working properly on Adobe Pro XI

Running Adobe Pro for Mac with OS X 10.9. After installing new Multifunction CANION MG5550 in my network. He is working perfectly as printer and scanner with CANON software.
When scanning from Adobe Pro, scanner is detected, overview scan is done but when real scan is executed and completed, Adobe shuts down. How can I solve this error?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but i need some assistance. My dad has started a new job and is self-employed. He needs to scan documents (up to 16 sides) and then create a PDF. For some reason his computer scans one page at a time and the only way he has found he is able to create one PDF is using adobe pro. He is using a free months trial at the moment but the monthly fee is high for a single person. He doesn't need the most up to date version just something that can convert his scans into PDF. Any advice on the most cost effective way of doing this?

If time is of the essence the simply scan to TIFF/JPEG or some other suitable graphic format first in the scanners native application. Then he/you can Combine the graphic formatted files in Acrobat getting both the OCR and PDF in the resulting output. This breaking down the steps into smaller chunks is more labor intensive but it may speed up the process in the long run and get your Dad where he needs to be rather than fighting the apparent workflow issue with scanning multiple pages through Acrobat.
