Adobe problem

Hello, a wonderful Apple employee encouraged me to post my question(s) here.
Right after I got my first Mac computer ever, Macbook Pro 15'' I installed the trail version of Adobe Photoshop, CS3 or CS5.
Used it, loved it, but didn't buy it. I also tried out lightroom but never purchased anything.
A few months later I bought a graphics tablet that came with Photoshop Elements 6, I figured it would hold me over until I could lay down the cash for the full Photoshop version.
So, as I'm using Elements, Adobe update keeps popping up trying to get my to update it, but it also included Bridges from the trail and other things that were left over from the trial - apparently I didn't no delete/uninstall the trails correctly. So it won't update Elements because it says it is missing things.
Now I have the cash to buy Photoshop CS5 but want to make sure everything else is gone (uninstalled) so I can start fresh.
I'm unfamiliar with the inner workings of the mac platform and OS so I don't want to go deleting things left and right.
This is the detailed error message I get when attempting to update:
Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.5 Update
One of the following products has been moved or deleted improperly: Adobe Bridge CS5, Adobe Photoshop CS5. Please launch or reinstall the applications to update the location and try again. To remove the product from the system, please uninstall product using the aliases under "/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers"
  Adobe Device Central CS5.0.1
Adobe Device Central CS5 has been moved or deleted improperly. Please launch or reinstall the application to update the location and try again. To remove the product from the system, please uninstall product using the aliases under "/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers"
Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 Update
Adobe Extension Manager CS5 has been moved or deleted improperly. Please launch or reinstall the application to update the location and try again. To remove the product from the system, please uninstall product using the aliases under "/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers"
Photoshop 12.0.4 update for Photoshop CS5
  Installation failed

As the advisory from Adobe suggests, go to Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers, open whatever installers you find there (one at a time, of course), and run them. Each will offer an "uninstall" option, which you should exercise. After you've deleted all the Adobe software from your computer that way, you should be able to install Photoshop CS5, and thereafter you should only receive Adobe update notices pertaining to that application.
Afterthought: I'm not sure whether the procedure described above will result in deletion of the free Adobe Reader application and web plug-in. If it does, you can easily reinstall them afterward.

    Problem is:
Flash Player for IE11 (which is the worst browser ever developed - BAR NONE) is a Microsoft product, when it comes right down to it.
Adobe writes the base code and yes, they do collaborate on updates for it, but the gang in Redmond alter the plug-in and add "proprietary" code before embedding it, and at that point it's "their baby".
There are two (2) registry keys - 1 for 32 bit IE and the other for 64 bit IE, as well as a KB patch that prevent all but the most experienced Windows users from ever touching the Flash Player plug-in for IE. So there's NO WAY you could have done a clean install of the ActiveX plug-in in Windows 8. Unless you're an uber-geek, you can only update it through Windows Update.
WIn 8 is an abomination and IE11 made it worse. IE has always been the "problem child" of browsers, failing to handle CSS, Javascript, some PHP and most design "tweaks" that good webmasters can use with other browsers, trouble free.
I have IE8 on XP, 9 on VIsta, 11 on 7, 10 on 8 and 11 on 8.1... but they're all for testing only. I'd have to be out of my mind to ever think of using IE as my primary browser. ActiveX controls have to be disabled formost stuff and that opens millions of security holes in IE.
You've got a good video card and a decent sound card. It's a shame to waste them on a pile of garbage like IE, just because it came with Windows.

  • Good Article on Adobe Problems

Following is a good article on Adobe problems. I would stay away from Adobe if you can prevent it.  There are many other good readers.  Adobe's problems aren't worth the aggrevation.  Believe me, I've been there.
    www.lockergnome.com/theoracle/2010/06/29/step-up-see-the-show-adobe-9.3.3-released

    LOL.
I love where the article says:
"Does anyone besides me think that anything that continues to have so  many things to fix each quarter, month, or whatever the interval is  chosen, is not very well written?"
So, does that mean we better ditch all forms of the Windows OS?
That statement alone takes away the authors credibility in my book.
(and by the way, I have very little issues with Reader nor any other product of Adobe)

  • Scene Detect - is an Adobe problem!!!

Many people on this forum experianced problems with Scene detection capturing with JVC camcorders. I read many suggestions here about the problems with OS, or other... It's not true, it's a strictly Adobe problem. I went for a trial to somebody who runs Avid Media Composer and it works perfect... It defines corectly the model of the camcorder and it devides perfectly the scenes according to the cuts...
So, when will Adobe take the responsability to repair the bug???

  • I can not print a PDF from a HP Photosmart Plus B210A.  HP says its is a Adobe problem and Adoble says it is not there problem

I am unable to print a PDF file from a HP Photosmart Plus B210a.  I contacted HP and they say because the printer does print word docs etc. the printer cannot be the cause of the problem.  This is from the Top Level Support team.  When contacting Adobe, they say that not being able to print their PDF files is not there problem but HP's.
Another call to HP and they now say it is Apple's problem.
I am in the middle and still can't print a PDF file.  When trying to do so, it doesn't print and I receive no error messages.  Just nothing.  My serial number is
W88110PFZE3 and my operating system is OSX 10.6.8.
Does anyone have a suggestion, or do I just throw out HP?
    Thanks, Bob L.

Try opening the PDF in Preview and see if it will print out of it.

  • Firefox and Adobe problems after Flash update last night

OK, this is a non-Apple question, but I haven't found any solution yet.
Everyone knows that to run the "Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in, Version 10.1.3" in Firefox, you had to open in 32-bit mode. I did and that plug-in, plus the "Adobe Acrobat Create PDF 1.2" extension worked just fine running Firefox 12. Tonight I got notification that I needed to update Adobe Flash Player. I did (quitting and restarting Firefox after the installation).
THEN up popped a warning - Firefox suggesting that I disable the NPAPI plug-in and finding out here that Firefox was disabling the plug-in. So I disabled it, restarted, etc. Then I found that the Create PDF plug-in would crash if I tried to save a web page as PDF within Firefox.
Is there any way to go BACK to the older Flash plug-in? That seems to be at the root of my problem. I can use PDF Browser plug-in in Firefox to display PDF files but what I really need is the Create PDF extension back (it's strangely absent from Safari - at least I've not been able to find it).
    Any help out there?
    Thanks,
    Clinton

Create PDF or save as PDF?
    Pete
    Pete,
I can always use the PDF creator "Save as Adobe PDF" that is available from the Print menu and added by Acrobat Pro X, but it does not always save the hyperlinks correctly, etc., where the Adobe Create PDF does a fantastic job... I'd just like to have it back. It does not show up in the Safari extensions/add-ons for some reason.
Thanks for getting back so quickly!
    Clinton
Then you may well have to go to the Mozilla Forums on this one. As I say, I steer clear of Firefox because of all it's bulky extentions.
    Good Luck

  • What to do about this adobe problem

i just  hate adobe flash, yet can't do much with out it. It start to happened a few year back i think, once in a while it would just froze everything on my pc computer, especially when i'm watching a video, got that fix after i uninstall the latest version which was the 11 i think, and install the 10.
Now just a month ago, i bought a laptop, everything work fine, because i haven't dl adobeflash yet, and yeah i can't use a few online player because i didn't dl it, but after i dl it recently, the freeze thing started to happen to my laptop, it even freeze my norton internet security, this time, i don't even have to use an online player, the fcking **** would just froze everything just for starting firefox, and if i want it to goes away i have to do alt ctrl delete and end adobe flash, not the stuff you're using but the adobeflash, and everthing would just went back to normal. omg i hope someone out there could come up with a solution for this

Since you're having problems with Firefox, I'd recommend going through the troubleshooting steps outlined in this FAQ:
How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
If you can consistently reproduce the problem, I'd recommend trying to temporarily disable protected mode as outlined in the FAQ.  If that solves the problem, re-enable it and give our 11.6 beta a shot to see if that helps.

  • Plugin Containers hogging memory and Adobe problems

    Hi,
I have regular problems with Firefox on my notebook. Firefox memory usage shoots beyond 500MB of memory and becomes extremely slow in any of the below conditions:
    1) There are updates ready for some plugins: I thought it might be because I had enabled automatic updates and had made it manual. Still the same trend continues.
    2) I run any Adobe application on the browser, like open a pdf from a website, run flash video either from Youtube or any other website.
    3) I open about or more than 10 tabs on a single session (typical while reading news articles from feeds)
It was very problematic with FF4, but I continue to see the same trend even with version 5. When this happens, I do not have any other option but to close all the sessions of the browser and restart. Sometimes, Firefox does not go away from memory and I have to manually kill the process from task manager. There are several instances when the processor heated up so much, the fan could not handle and the notebook shutdown automatically. This happened when I had run youtube videos and after the video ended, let the browser window open for long time.
Here is the config information of my notebook:
Toshiba Portege M900, Intel Core i5 2.4Ghz quad core, Win7, virus free, with latest CA enterprise AV running.

    Additional info:
The 256-color problem depends on how ActiveX'ed beans are integrated into native (VB, C++) apps.
If the development computer is configured to 256 colors, then on the runtime with 256 colors, the colors are ok.
If the development computer is configured to 16-bit colors, then on the runtime with 256 colors, the colors are wrong (dithered, ugly, wrong).
This tells me that the process where the ActiveX'ed bean is serialized to the C++ application resource file, some palette information must have been serialized out as well.
Question: what possibility is there to tell the ActiveX'ed bean or beans.ocx that it should update its palette?
A windows message? To whom, the ActiveX'ed bean, some component of it (HWND?), beans.ocx or some component of it? Sth that can be done within the bean's code?
    Cross-posted to the plugin forum.

  • N95 8Gb Adobe Problems

    Hi
Has anyone else having problems with Adobe (le 1.5) on N95 I had an email with a 6kb pdf file but the N95 doesn't reconise the file so I cant open it.
    Thanks
    Graham

Hi guys Greetings to all. I am new here. Just wanted to add a few words after reading the posts about BT connection problems with the N95 and N95 8gb phones. I bought a new N95 8gb phone about 2 weeks ago togather with a i-tech Clip D bluetooth headset with OLED display. According to the specs the operating distance is 10 meters. I have tried 8 meters and it was working fine and so far so good. I have not tried any other BT headset but I am planning to get another BT headset. Any suggestions from any one of you guys out there. Thanx a lot guys.

  • Multiple Adobe Problems.

I'm having multiple problems with my Adobe products and I believe that they are all related. First, my Flash player disappears every time I reboot my computer. I reinstall it every time and it works fine until I reboot and then it is gone. Every time I open Acrobat, it opens for a few seconds, and then I get a window that says it is part of a suite and I need to open another part of the suite fo rit to function properly and then it closes. I've also installed CS6 recently, and that diappears every time I reboot my computer as well. When I install it fro, the disc, Adobe Flash Builder won't install. I also occasionally get a 131: 4 error code. I previously had CS4 and ebverything worked fine until this. Any thoughts?

I do not understand - you have problems with Flash Player, Acrobat, Flash Builder, CS6, but you post in the Adobe Reader forum.  At the same time you do not even mention your operating system.
I suggest you post your question regarding Flash Player in the Flash Player forum, and the unrelated question about CS6 in the Creative Suite forum.

  • Receive error: "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly..." Firefox problem? Adobe problem? Malware?

While browsing a variety of site, while running no movies at all, I receive the following message:"A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?" I click "ok", error message disappears. minutes later, error message re-appears.
I've removed Adobe Flash, cleaned registry, rebooted, all to no avail.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • RE: Adobe problem or iMac problem?

I've just spent the last week trying to resolve a problem, and now I'm stumped again. My entire Adobe CS3 Creative Suite stopped working last week. Each application would open fine, then crash when I opened a file. All other applications worked fine.
I combed through all the forums on this site and on the Adobe site. Tried the easiest "fixes" first, then finally wound up uninstalling the software and reinstalling it. It still didn't work.
Suddenly last night I remembered an "easy" fix that I hadn't tried. I created a new user account, and lo and behold - the applications are working again.
The problem is how do I get all my files and settings from the old to the new without risking another crash, at least until I can get my work caught up? Can I just try to delete a user preference file on the old account that might resolve the issue with the software? I assume using the Adobe uninstallers removed all the old Adobe preference files.
Was this an Adobe issue or an Apple computer issue?
I can import all my preference files and files from the backups, but I'm really afraid something else will mess up.
I have a stack of photos to adjust and Web sites to update, all a week late now. Right now, I'm opening applications on the new user side, going to the old user side to get the files I'm working on, then I have to save on the new user side. This is not a very efficient way to work. Is there something that might not completely crash everything again that I can do to work a bit fster? A quick fix until I'm caught up with work and can risk having it all crash again?
I've never had to create a new user for my computers, except for users that really were new. Not really sure where to go from here to get everything back to the way it was with the old account the quickest way possible.
    Thanks for any info!

Given that it's working on one account and not the other, I would recommend that you not attempt to transfer any settings, as it's highly likely that the problem stems from a corrupted preference or cache file. If you haven't tried just trashing the preference files, try that: most uninstallers do not remove preference files, and I'm almost certain Adobe's uninstallation does not. I would also suggest trashing anything Adobe-related in the Caches folder.
    Hope this helps.

Are you saying you can read the CD, but just can't get it installed? If the problem is that you don't have a CD drive, go to a local library or similar location and copy the contents of the CD to a memory stick and use that.
There may be a big different between 32 and 64-bit systems fo the install. You might be able to install it on a 64-bit machine with 32-bit compatibility selected. Assuming you are successful with what appears to be an install, your Acrobat Distiller printer and AcroTray (or Acrobat Assistant) will not work on Win7. If you are successful getting Acrobat and DIstiller installed, then we can discuss the workaround to get the rest working. The workaround is not real convenient to use, but it will do the basic print to PDF job.
In reality, it is probably best to bite-the-bullet and buy AA XI.

  • E61 Adobe problem...

Would be VERY grateful if anyone can help...
Have just purchased a new E61 and cannot get Adobe to work. I have installed it succesfully and even re-downloaded it from the Nokia website to make sure I have the most up to date version. But this has yeilded no success.
Every time I open a PDF Adobe starts up, I get the reader display but all the pages are blank, just with the odd black lin (say where a footer or header should be) but never any text or images.
Anyone got any ideas? Without Adobe this phone is pretty useless to me and I will go back to my 9300...
    Thanks in advance,
    Roger

Hi again, I've hard reset my e61 and then i've reinstalled a couple of apps and the problem still happen. Is there any tool to check wich process is consuming the memory ?
I have a 2gb memory card and everything gets stored there, so Im not using my phone memory at all. In fact, just after the reboot the free phone memory is 61mb.
the following is the list of apps installed:
    - m-sync (push mail client)
    - DivX Player
    - Zip Manager
    - Adobe PDF
    - S-tris 2 (a game)
    - Slick (IM client)
Nokia guys, any recommendation from your side ?
    thanks, Damian
