Adobe product causes hidden popups

an adobe product (not sure if it was flash player, acrobat, or reader) once in a while, at least once a day opens a hidden popup that will last about 5 minutes. the product will also minimize my fullscreen applications (usually about every 5-10 minutes). is there anyway to stop this? or am i stuck without adobe products

What makes you think these pop-ups are caused by Adobe products?
Are you sure that your system is free of malware?

  • Photoshop CS5: Can't Disable Adobe Product Improvement Popup

Every time I launch Photoshop CS5, I get the "Adobe Product Improvement" window, asking if I want to participate in the program. It offers me two choices: Yes, Participate or No, Thank You. I have been clicking on the "No" button for months, but the window always comes up the next time I try to open CS5. And I have to click one of the buttons before it will let me work on a file. Needless to say, this is very annoying. Can you tell me how to disable this window?

Seems that 1712 is a time out error. Basically, Mac is waiting for Photoshop to respond in some fashion and is not getting what it wants. So this error is being returned by the OS and not Photoshop, which doesn't help us diagnose the source of the issue. Since it worked recently, first and foremost, try this (compensate for version number on file and folder names): http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/how-to-reset-photoshop- cs6s-preferences-file/

  • Flash CS3 / Adobe products: crashes or acting erraticly

    HI -
I recently posted a thread conserning Flash CS3 deleting the
contents or erroring out my built and working .fla's and .swf's
apon opeing them to edit the .fla's.
Suspected a virus - scanned etc etc.
an Avast boot scan showed a corrupt cab archive avast error
    #42127 on a boot scan for a DW20.exe adn 4 or 5 other cab
archives... thes are all related to Visual Basic C# - the DW20 .exe
is for error reporting to MS about crashes. - thsi may be an "avast
error" - but no viruses detected.
I checking my WinXP error logs for a further clue they showed
at the time of Flash CS3 crashing when trying to preview - it was
    due to FFMpeg.exe
is this something that flash implements in importing a video
    file or perhaps a mpeg?
When these crashes started, i was attempting to import a .wmv
(- which btw - i thought past flash 8 there was no problems with -
it now asks for Direct Show to be installed or Quicktime.?? Maybe
someone can give an answer to this as well My understanding was
that past Flash 8 - this was no longer nessasary - if this is true
    - any thoughts as to why CS3 is asking me to install these products
to import or encode a wmv file?
Back to topic: Since attempting to bring in the wmv video
and/or mpeg audio and/or the flv i was experimentiing with
    - Flash not only crashes on me when attempting to open any
    .fla now.
    - but also destroys or corrupts all other .fla's and .swf's
in the same file folder as the one i'm working on.
My questiion is - since ffmeg is not a win exe - is this
something that Flash implements in it's importing of a video or
    audio file? or at all.
I have 12 error event crashes listed from Flash - all list
    the same:
    " faulty application ffmeg.exe
    - faulty module: ffmeg.exe
    - fault address 0x001be5e3
    - event id:1000
anyone have knowledge on how to fix this or what may cause
    this -
I mentioned the cab errors because i'mm not sure if one is
related to the other - i had C# installed but removed it from the
    comp.
as mentioned in my other post related to this - Photoshop
Lightbox is also acting complety crazy as well - all adobe products
are the ones seemly - that i know of or noticed thus far - the only
    products acting up.
I need this issue fixed - as i have to finish my fla! lol
I'd much rather be doing that than trouble shooting crashes
from Flash or other Adobe products acting up.
Any help would really be appriciated since this goes beyond
    my skills and knowledge.
    thanx

Sure wish I had a quick fix, but it will take more info than
what you have entered. I was having a lot of trouble also, until I
did the 5 tasks listed below.
    1. Is there enough memory for Flash CS3? Setup tells you how
much and if you have enough to install the program.
    2. Is there enough storage space for Flash CS3? Again, Setup
tells you how much it needs and if ;you have enough to install the
    program.
    3. How many files do you have on your hard disk? The amount
of directories and files on your hard disk matters a great deal
when you are installing new programs. I usually go through my c:\
directory and get rid of programs I don't use. I try to keep my
folders and files at the lowest I can get away with.
    4. When was the last time you cleaned and defragged the
    registry?
This matters a great deal too. If you have an overabundance
of empty registry keys, etc. it can hang up your computer too. I
use RegCure, it's a great program.
    5. When was the last time you did a defrag on C:\? Many
people don't realize that just these 5 tasks can have a bad effect
    on your hard drive.
It would be a great thing if you uninstall Flash CS3, do
tasks 1-5 and then reinstall Flash CS3. Seems like a lot of work,
but it is extremely important to keep your computer running at its
    best.
    hope this helps.

  • Adobe LMservice causing logging off problems

When shutting down or loggin off Windows XP srvc Pck3, I keep getting this error message: End Program-1184, 136c, dsagent.exe (it changes everytime I logg off) and it only happens with my user.
I have performed a "clean boot" and I have isolated the problem to one program that reads "Adobe LMService" in the System Configuration Utility under Services Tab. I thought this was part of Adobe Photoshop Elements & Premier 8, so I uninstalled it, but it did not remove the adobe LMservice nor the problem.
Not knowing what other Abobe programs were causing the problem I went ahead and unstilled: acrobat, adobe acrobat connect add-in, adobe air, adobe flash player 10activeX, adobe flash player 10plugin, adobe reader 9.3.4, and adobe shockwave player 11.4. After removing all adobe programs the problem went away and was able to logg off without the error message.
Supposelly the new Abobe programs are not using this service and have this issue resolved so I reinstalled PSE8, PRE8, Adobe reader 9.4.0 from the disk and it installed adobe air as well as photoshop.com inspiration browser but now I have the same problem again and the adobe LM service has been reinstalled by one of this programs again.
Following the advice from microsoftanswers.com I went ahead and disable AdobeLMservice but the problem continues and it suggest to contact Abobe support for a solution.
I love using my Adobe programs but is fustrating not finding a solution to this problem. Please help!

Not sure how are you able to derive the relation between the two, but as per my understanding there shouldnt be any relation between the error message and the Adobe licensing service. Because, when I search for the dsagent.exe, it seems that this is Dell Support Agent executable, whereas Adobe LM service is the service used for checking activation status of Adobe products like PSE/ PRE 8 version.
The service has to run for allowing successful launch of Adobe products, so there is no workaround in that context.
Newer version of Adobe, since CS5 and PSE 9.0 onwards dont use that service. So if you are sure that the service is the culprit and are willing to move on the newer version, here is one option to move on 9.0 version. But, having said that I would repeat that I dont think the service should be cause of any error. Havent heard of such issue since last one year of release of PSE 8.May be it is because of some other reason what Dell support advisor is conflicting with this service, not sure....
Hope this helps to some extent??

  • The Adobe Flash Player Settings popup is appearing offscreen in my Flex4 app. How do I stop this?

    Hey guys,
I have a page with some html content and my Flex app in the bottom left hand corner. At one point,  the Adobe Flash Player Settings popup appears, but I can  only just see the top of it, the rest is off screen towards the bottom. I set the height of the application in  the opening application tag, to 240. The whole app is visible in the  HTML page, but for some reason the background colour of the Flex app  goes past its height and width properties. This is probably causing the  Flash Player Settings popup problems right?
Does anyone know how I can fix this so that the user can interact with  the popup? Thanks for reading.

Thanks Mike,  Problem continues if I uninstall Adobe Flash
Player....scanning computer now for malware.....amazing that the malware
uses Adobe Flash Player even thought my control panel says the player does
not exist.  Adds are not too bad but I do not like something going on out
my control....what else is up??? That kind thing.  Will let you know when
problem is solved, best, Allen Bealle

  • Unable to Open Adobe Products

    Hi,
Macbook Pro 10.5.8 and trying to open Adobe Photoshop 10.0.1 and comes up with application unexpectedly quit. Think this may have been since parallels has been installed but not sure. Any ideas appreciated. I have looked at other posts regarding epson scanners causing issues but no joy fixing this one. I am thinking of a reinstall of Adobe ? This also causing issues with all adobe products but sometimes when loading / opening files.
    Thanks,

Has Photoshop ever worked properly? Have you tried uninstalling Photoshop and re-installing it? have you tried deleting the file, "com.adobe.Photoshop.plist" from your home/Library/Preferences folder? You might also post to the Adobe forums:

  • Mac Pro - Final Cut Studio 2 - Adobe Production Premium - NO FLASH PLAYING!

I recently purchased a Mac Pro with Leopard, Final Cut Studio 2, and Adobe Production Premium suite. I got everything setup yesterday, and I exported a Quicktime reference file from Final Cut, and brought it into Flash CS3 Media Encoder. The file seemed to encode fine, but when I try to open it, it shows that the Flash Player opens, but the video never actually opens. I also tired to import the FLV file into Flash Pro, and it acts as though it imports, but it does let me preview it. The ONLY thing that I think could have caused a problem is that I also have Sorenson Squeeze installed, which has its own On2 VP6 encoder. Again, this may have nothing to do with it since I copied the file to another Mac machine that did not have Sorenson on it, and downloaded the standalone Flash Player, and it acted the same. Any ideas on why FLV files would not play back would be greatly appreciated. I have ALL updates installed for OS X Leopard, as well as the CS3 collection. Thanks in advance.

After downloading an FLV player, and realizing that Adobe Flash Player will not work, all is swimming.

  • Adobe Products and recent lockup/crash/dead system issues.

So there has been a lot of talk recently about some Adobe products (photoshop included) having some real issues with the most recent security update (2006-003).
There has been some suggestion that deleting VersionQue will fix this issue, as well as some other solutions. The issues themselves seem to vary a little, from photoshop refusing to install, to system locking up upon PDF work, to the system not booting at all!
I thought it wise to email adobe personally and ask what they suggest you do.
Here is the response I got:
    John,
Adobe has been able to reproduce a complete freeze of an Intel based Mac when installing the Creative Suite 2 or Photoshop CS2 after the Quicktime 7.1 and security update 2006-003 were installed. Note, both these updates must be present for the freeze to occur. In addition, the Adobe pdf printer will also cause a system freeze. We have communicated the problem to Apple who are investigating the cause. Adobe can't fix the problem, the solution has to come from Apple.
I can't advise you on the best way forward, I don't know what Apple's timeline for a fix will be. You could also forego the QT 7.1 update. Please note that we have not done extensive testing of our current applications under Rosetta..
    Regards,
Sooooo....! Looks like the ball is in the orchard.
Feel free to post your work arounds to the issues in this thread!

    This one is easy!
Boot to safe mode (hold down shift after the startup chime until the spinning gear appears)
Go to system preferences - accounts - remove any login items there
open up Macintosh HD -> Library -> and remove the startup items folder
    reboot

  • Adobe product changes keyboard layout

    Hi guys,
I have a strange problem. It seems that any computer on my network that have adobe products installed all have the same problem.
If we are working for a few hours in one adobe product then the type on my screen becomes arabic. Anything I type becomes arabic. And All I can do is reboot.

What happened is you pressed Shift+Alt at the same time which caused the
OS to change languages. Just press it again and you should get back to
    English.

  • Stop the Adobe Product Improvement Program prompt from appearing

How do I stop the Adobe Product Improvement program prompt from constantly popping up whenever I open a pdf?      I've tried to follow all the instructions to disable but to no avail.    When I go to Help and try to follow the path, I can't get to anywhere to de-select participation.   What can I do, this is very disruptive and wasn't occurring two weeks ago, but now all the time??
    Help ??

Thanks for the response.   I’ve done this before, and I’ve just tried it again, and it doesn’t change anything.
If I go to “Help” and choose “Improvement Program Options” it simply brings me back to the popup window that asks “Help Improve the Adobe Reader Experience” asking for permission to include me in the program.   This window offers these two options:
“Yes I would like to help make Reader even better”
    “No, thank you”
Then I can choose one of three actions
    “OK”
    “Remind Me Later”
    “Cancel”
No matter which one I choose it doesn’t change anything, next time I try to view a pdf this same window popsup again asking me to participate in the improvement program.
This wasn’t like this two weeks ago, it just started and without me changing any settings on my computer.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,  Ed

  • Dont Install Trial Lightroom with other Adobe Products!!!!!!!!

I have been experiencing many licensing proplems with Adobe and have found if you have any licensed products installed and then install any of the the adobe trial software it will mess up all your installed applications.  I have spent quite a bit of time on the phone with support and they have fix no other than to uninstall ALL adobe software and re-install.
Example:  I have Adobe Design Premium CS3, Adobe Web Premium CS3 and Adobe Acrobat 9.0 installed on a computer.  If you install the trailware and let trial run out of its trial period without buying or uninstalling....ALL your other Licensed Adobe products will NOT work.  I have had this happen to me 3 times and every time I contact support they say to uninstall everything and re-install.  I just realized today on my own that this was the issue.  I actually tested this out on a few other computers and can confirm any expired trial software from Adobe will prevent your licensed products from working.
Since support is NOT willing to help find out why this is happening, I am hoping this saves at least a few people from going thru the frustration that I have experienced.

    This
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html
is the ADOBE licensening repair tool. It worked for me
    There is further advice here
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405970.html
    This document
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401346.html
is also of relevence. Unfortunatly it refers to the locations for LR1 and these have changed in LR 2. I am not sure what the new locations are, but if you go back to support refering them to this may get them to tell you...they may even update the document.
Interesting that ADOBE support didn't refer you to it...
Uninstalling will not work and they should be aware of this.I had the problem recently with an old ADOBE Acrobat trial causing problems for CS4.I wasn't aware that LR trials could cause problems as I have never had one and it doesn't use the standard ADOBE licensing proceddures in that it doesn't require activation and the trial copy is the same as the "real" copy. But give it a whirl.

  • Colour Cast in Adobe products

    Hi all.
I am sure someone out there can help me. I have installed CS, CS2 and now LR2.3, and every time I install an Adobe product, I struggle against reddish or orangish colour casts in my images. The same images opened in a variety of other progams do not show this colour cast.
The following link shows an NEF image converted to greyscale in LR 2.3. If I keep it as a colour image and completely desaturate it, it has the same colour.
Can anyone explain the colour cast, and how to ger rid of it. If you look at the thumbnails, you will see ther predominately warm cast they all have.
    Here is the link:
    http://www.jomp-photographics.com/colour_cast.jpg
    Thanks in advance.
    John

It may have been your Corel software rather than a wrong monitor profile from the manufacturer that caused your issue, Johnny. I had a similar problem when LR1 came out and it was caused by a color management profile that loaded into Windows at bootup that I had completely forgotten was installed when I first installed Corel software, and it messed LR's color up.
But I found the software eyeball calibration programs including PS Gamma to be inadequate. I mean, try it, sure, but if your results are still disappointing, especially when you try to match what you see on your monitor to what you get from a printer, do yourself a favor and get a hardware calibrator. You can spend hundreds of dollars for them, and I'm sure in many cases the expensive ones are worth every penny, just as you can justify expensive monitors and printers too for critical photo work, but my budget is much more modest. Still I found the hardware Spyder2 Express (currently $62 on amazon) color and gamma monitor calibrator to be an excellent value and
way more effective matching monitor to printer output in Lighhtroom than the do-it-yourself free online and built-in software calibrators. I saved more in photo ink and paper in not having to redo print jobs with different settings to get printed photos to look right than I spent for the Spyder2.
Not everybody likes them, as you'll see in Amazon reviews. You have to read S2E's readme file and follow the directions to the letter, with absolutely no shortcuts, to get good results with these, including being careful before calibrating to restore monitor defaults and set a 6500K color temperature, and have the monitor warmed up for one hour and the colorimeter warmed up for five minutes, and the room darkened with no light hitting the monitor as you calibrate; don't just try to use a hardware calibrator out of the box or follow a quick-and-dirty plug-and-pray approach as it would seem you could do, or they will disappoint, too, in my experience. Because I have a consumer-priced LCD monitor, and they are
not good on color and gamma accuracy as a rule, I do still sometimes have to make minor adjustments to monitor settings after calibrating or minor changes to printer settings to match print to monitor, but it's much closer using hardware calibration than not.

  • Which Adobe product takes over vdeos?

I downloaded some Adobe product and now all of my videos have an adobe symbol and are not accessable.  Any dea what I need to remove?

    Hi Ralph
Thanks for the additional info.I'm not certain what operating system you are on. I'm a PC and a big ole Mac ignoramous. So I'm not sure if Mac will behave as PC (Windows) does.
IF you are using a PC, what does it show when you right-click one of the videos and examine the properties? I'll post a screen capture of my own properties dialog for a .MPG file type.
See the button labeled Change? Click that and you are able to choose any other application that you want for playing the video.
Sorry, but I'm not thinking any of the applications you listed should have caused a change to the file association. Obviously SOMETHING changed it, but I'd be hard pressed to say what.
Hopefully something here will help or possibly someone else will have a different idea of what to try.
    Cheers... Rick
