Adobe professional 8 - adobe pdf printer problem

Running windows 7 64 bit enterprise edition and have installed adobe professional 8. When I fx. want to print a file to the "adobe pdf" printer the job newer is finished. It is just stay in the printer que, and nothing happends.
Have tried to remove the Adobe XI reader, that was installed, if it could be any conflict but did not help. I also tried with a repair of whole adobe prof. package, but still the same problem.
If I look on the adobe pdf printer and look on which port it is printing to it is standing as LPT1 ? - is that correct. There is not any other adobe pdf port available if I would like to create one.

The updates are critical when using an old version. Even older versions can be made to work in 32-bit systems, but have to have workarounds. However, folks have reported success for AA8 with both 32 and 64-bit systems, but the updates were critical.

  • Adobe X Standard PDF printing problems

OK, this is a weird one.  I use Parallels to run my Windows applications, one of which is Adobe X Standard.  Anytime I print an Adobe PDF from a Windows based application, I get an error message that reads:
"[Name of my document] could not be handled because Numbers cannot open files in the "PDF Document" format."
And then, Mac's Numbers is automatically opened, without any trigger by me.
Thoughts, anyone?  Your help would be most appreciated.

It seems that your document is wrongly linked to an application
Select its icon then press cmd + I
You will get the info window.
I guess that in the local menu "Open With" you will see "Numbers" when it would be "Preview" or "Adobe Reader" or "Skim" or …
Navigate among the displayed list of apps, select the correct one.
    Click the button "Apply All".

  • Firefox v33 knocked out my Adobe 7 pro PDF printer plugin. PDFs print OK from other applications.

Firefox v33 knocked out my Adobe 7 pro PDF printer plugin. PDFs print OK from other applications. It happened a few times randomly, and it seemed to resolve spontaneously, but now it is persistent.
I've done scans for malware, which I suspected, but nothing showed up, nor corrected it with cleaning.
I had this problem before, and I found directions on how to rest the printer within Firefox, but I've forgotten how or where I got it.
I did try to re-install in control panel, but this appears to be a firefox issue. How do i rest the plugin or Firefox to once again print PDFs from browser pages. I need to use this feature printing receipts etc.

Are you using a toolbar button (Create PDF extension) or a printer driver (selecting Adobe PDF or Distiller in the Print dialog) to generate the PDF? Older versions of Create PDF have been reported not to work any more (by older I mean from Acrobat X or earlier), but the printing method should still work.

  • Frame Maker 9 and 10 PDF Print problem

Frame Maker 9 and 10 PDF Print problem
Hi I have an computer with windows 7 and the Adobe Software.
The Distiller 9 with adobe Acrobat 9 and Adobe Design Standard CS3 is also installed.
Now, I open in Frame Maker 9(Full Version) or 10(Trial Version)   an *.fm File. Then I go to “File- save as pdf” and then save I receive an message like this:
“to execute the ‘Save as PDF’  is necessary to have install Acrobat Distiller 5.05 or higher”.  But I have the Distiller 9.
Then I can click OK and now I receive another message like this:  “you must  define “PDF job options” if you want to execute it.”
If I look for the PDF job options I can’t select something. But if I look in the Distiller I have a lot of option I can select.
What is the problem. Is there a solution?
    Can somebody help me?

Using AW 6.2.9 and Mac OS X v10.5.7, the file prints successfully to pdf using the "Save as PDF..." option in the print dialogue. I didn't try to print the result to paper, but that appears to eliminate the file itself as the cause of the problem.
Two first aid steps that might resolve the issue:
    Delete the AW preferences.
In the Finder, click the house icon (yourname) in the sidebar of a Finder window, then Library > Preferences..
Locate and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist
       Open the folder AppleWorks
Delete both cache files and the two preferences files.
It's also safe to delete the Button Bars file, but unless you have issues related to the Button Bars, you're also safe to leave it there.
AppleWorks will create new (and clean) versions of these files as it needs them.
    Repair Permissions.
Go Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Launch the application, select your startup drive, click First Aid, click Repair Permissions.

  • More PDF Printing Problems

There are lots of notes in this forum crying about PDF printing problems. For what it's worth, I'd like to add mine.
I'm using Jakarta FOP to generate a PDF on the fly from XML data. The PDFs it's producing are read and displayed nicely by Adobe Acrobat and print from Acrobat without a problem.
I've also written a simple desktop app that exercises the java.print package. (I won't bore anybody with a listing.) It uses the PrintServiceLookup to discover the two networked printers I have attached to my machine, using DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE. I have it discover all the supported document flavors. Here's the result:
    application/octet-stream
    application/x-java-jvm-local-objectref
    image/gif
    image/jpeg
    image/png
I can sent text documents to the printer without a problem. But when I try to send a PDF generated by FOP that renders and prints fine from Acrobat, I get gibberish text out. I'm using DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE as my DocFlavor when I create the doc.
I don't see application/pdf on my list of supported document flavors. Should I? If that's a requirement, what do I have to do to the printer to get it on the list? Why is Adobe Acrobat smart enough to print to a printer wo/ this flavor and javax.print not? TIA - MOD

Now I get it - I can't send PDFs from Java to a printer. A careful reading of forum threads and John Zukowski's note have driven a stake into the heart of the vampire.
I can bring them up just fine by creating the PDF using FOP and then sending the page back to the browser for rendering. If my client could just print the document from his machine, all would be well.
However, my app has a situation where some label printers will ONLY be attached to the server. They won't be visible from the client. I thought I had a solution with javax.print, but now that hope's gone.
The printers I have aren't Postscript, so suggestions to ask FOP to generate Postcript won't help me.
Adobe's site didn't offer any relief.
I haven't been able to find any for-fee or open source packages that might help. Plenty of stuff out there to convert to PDF, but nothing that helps to print it once you have it.
Is there any point in entering this as a bug in the database? It's less bug and more vaporware. After all, the docs never SAID they'd thrown an invalid flavor exception if you tried to print a PDF.
Sun, are you listening? - MOD

    Hi Sailesh,
If you're running Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or 10.7 (Lion), Adobe PDF is replaced.
    See the following blog posting:

  • Adobe Reader 9 pdf printing turns text into symbols

I am trying to print a pdf file, when it starts printing all of the text turns into random symbols, I am trying to print a rebate and this is really frustrating. I saved the online pdf to my HardDrive, then I try to print it after opening with Adobe Reader 9. I have tried printing it as an image, and still the same occurs, my printer is fine, it prints word documents and notepad perfectly, I have all the latest updates, so I do not know why this is happening.

I do realize that not all printers are affected. However, the problem is clearly with Adobe Reader 9. The reason I say this is that the problem does NOT exist with Adobe Reader 8. The problem ONLY occurs with Adobe Reader 9. Furthermore, I am not sure what specific resolution to this printer you are referring to, but there hasn't been a solution presented thus far that is an actual fix for the problem. Originally, I identified that if I selected "Print to Image" the entire multi-page PDF would print as expected. Although, this solution causes the multi-page PDF to print very slowly (for the reasons noted by Mike). Another reader reported that if you install FoxIT PDF Reader, multi-page PDFs print just fine. I have verified that installing FoxIT Reader DOES INDEED allow me to print multi-page PDFs to our FS-C5015N. Again, if it was purely a driver issue, why would a multi-page PDF opened with FoxIT Reader print as expected while the same PDF opened with Adobe Reader 9, not print as expected? There also were a couple other posts about using the generic Kyocera KX driver. This is not an option for us. Finally, there was a post about changing the Post Script driver setings. We do not use the Post Script driver. And just as a side note, we have tried using the Post Script driver to see if this will resolve the multi-page PDF issue, and it does not. With that said, I implore Adobe to once again acknowledge this problem and provide users with a fix. This is a very frustrating problem.

  • Compatibility of IE9 with Adobe Acrobat 9 PDF printer

    Hello,
I know from reading this document that the Adobe Acrobat PDFMaker is not supported in IE9:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/compatible-web-browsers-pdfmaker-applications.html
Does this only apply to the PDFMaker utility located within the browser, or does it also apply to the Adobe PDF printer that is available as a choice if I try to print a webpage?
I ask because every time I try to print a webpage to PDF using the Adobe PDF printer (NOT the PDFMaker) using the following sequence of steps:
    1. right clicking on the page
    2. clicking "Print...",
    3. selecting "Adobe PDF" from the list of printers
    4. choosing a location for the destination .pdf file
    4. click "Print"
a window pops up with the title "Creating Adobe PDF", but the progress bar never fills up and the PDF file is never created.  There is a spinning Adobe logo and a printer icon in the system tray.  If I double click on the printer icon, I can see the document I sent to the Adobe PDF printer.  The status is "Spooling".  Occasionallly the PDF document will eventually be created, but usually it isn't.
I have better luck in Chrome, but sometimes it too hangs, although the documents are eventually created.
    Here are my specs:
    Windows Vista Business 64-bit
IE 9.0.8112.16421 (both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions experience the problem)
    Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.5.5
    To summarize:
Printing to PDF using the Adobe PDF printer and IE9 causes the "Creating Adobe PDF" step to hang forever.  I know IE9 is not compatible with PDFMaker, but what about the Adobe PDF printer?

    Hi,
I believe I am having similar issues to yourself. I have been looking for solutions for a day or two now but can not find anything. Have you managed to find a resolution or work around?
    Regards,
    Adam

  • How to install just the Adobe 7 Writer PDF printer

In our environment we need to be able to print to PDF, but we also have a 3rd party formcreation software that needs Adobe 8 reader to capture digitized signagtures.
After testing we have found out that we need to have the PDF printer functionality of Writer 7, and the digitized signature capture ability from 8.  Problem is that the 7 install (no matter ther order of installation) take priority over the 8 install and does not let us use 8 to sign the document.
the ideal fix is being able to install just the pdf printer from 7 Writer.
Network is a mixed batch of XP and 7 machines

Nope, still using users HD space and bandwidth. The official June 17th release is still downloading and installing both 32-bit & 64-bit.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Pro Printer Problem

When I export my *.doc to a *.PDF using Word, the *.PDF generated displays correctly on my computer but prints incorrectly on my printer. Whole sections of text will not show up on the physical printout. All my software is up to date. Please help.

Check to see if the printer in Acrobat is set to document and markup. It may be that the information being printed has been restricted. When you say export, what do you mean. There is no export as such in WORD, only print to the Adobe PDF printer, Save As Adobe PDF, Save As PDF & other (the MS plugin), and the Adobe menu for create PDF (this is PDF Maker). The last comment may not be the issue for you, but is a clarification question on how you got the PDF.

  • Adobe CS3 missing PDF printer?

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to Leopard (via an erase and install) and loaded a student package of CS3 to my Powerbook G4. Everything seems to work great, except that I'm now unable to print to PDF from any Adobe program (particularly InDesign and Illustrator). I'm still able to export to PDF, but I'm not able to go to print, select Adobe PDF as my printer, and save as PDF from there as I could in CS2. The only printer that shows up in the print dialog is the PostScript, and the "Page Setup" and "Printers" buttons are grayed out. In non-Adobe programs (like MS Word), I am still able to save to PDF.
Any ideas? I realize this is more of an Adobe question than a Mac question, but I couldn't make much sense of the Adobe website, and people here are always helpful.
    Thanks!
    Adam

Have you tried launching Acrobat and going to Help > Repair Acrobat Installation? This should install the Adobe PDF 8.0 Printer. Please note that this PDF Printer still works with PPC Macs, but not with Intel versions until Adobe produce the update, which is scheduled for later this month (January 2008).

  • Has Adobe fixed the cs3 print problem yet?

Please don't beat me up for failing to look for answers.  I'm far from lazy.  I've spent the last two days and nights trying to print out some portraits that came out too vertically elongated any way I printed.
I emailed nasty letters to Epson, feverishly searched the internet, only to discover on the internet that ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS3 was the problem.  Something about not being able to print non-square images proportionately.  Squares print out perfectly.
I went back and studied the program.  The problem?  If you measure the rulers on the screen (thaaaat's right!  Physically hold a ruler to the screen!) the side ruler comes up short, so compensates through the printer.
What did I do in the short time I had left?  I calculated the fake measures and the real measures, resized the images so they are proportionatly squished and they printed out perfect.
Am I going to have to do squish my work every time I want to print something not square?  And please don't tell me that upgrading to cs4 (or whatever) is the answer.  I paid money for cs3 and should get what I paid for.
    Thanks!

Apparently, your notebook has an option for the type of screen.
    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3188
"The E1705 has two options for the screen, a 1440x900 WXGA+ matte screen or a 1920x1200 WUXGA glossy screen."
This is probably why you were able to use the  1920 x 1200 resolution setting.
