Adobe PSE 6 no longer opens

I have been using Photoshop Elements on my iMac under OS 10.6.8 but now it only partly opens with a blank info screen and no function. I've tried deleting all PSE files from prefs. and Appl.Support etc. and copying PSE 6 from my backup disc. but the same happens. I've copied the installer dmg from another backupm but no longer seems to have an Install file. Any ideas? or do I habve to give up and buy PSE 11? Thanks.

"foxit" took a notion to auto update - Adobe will no longer open scanned .bmp files

So, Foxit had apparently been installed on a users PC for some time. It decided to update itself over night? Anyway, the woman came in the next morning and Adobe Reader was no longer installed, assuming foxit had uninstalled it *so thankful*. Foxit would open the .bmp files and allow view as a pdf. Of course Adobe is what she was used to and needed.
So,
Re-installed Adobe reader XI
Scanned files would open normally from .bmp and give an option to "save as pdf" - (I'm not sure what she was able to open the files in (im assuming adobe))
After the Adobe re-install this will not work any more. I've taken the scanned .bmp file straight from the scanner and set it to .pdf and get error message " either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged. could have been sent as email and has been decoded incorrectly"
Could this have anything to do with fox it changing something?

I can't tell exactly what you have going there but Adobe Reader does not and never has opened .bmp files. So whatever you were using to open the bmp and save to pdf is what is having the problem here. That wouldn't be Adobe Reader but something else.

You can't just take a .bmp file and change the extension to .pdf. That is why Reader is giving you that error.
Assuming I understand what you are asking here...
Also, I would strongly suggest that the user disallow updates like that happening when she doesn't give permission first. Set an administrator password that has to be entered before the update. Not doing that is a recipe for disaster.

Using PSE 10 on Windows. Can no longer open files in PSE 10?

Have used PSE 10 successfully for quite awhile. Can no longer open files in this program. Choose, "open file" in PSE 10 and nothing happens.

PSE 6 for Mac: Pop-Up Palettes No Longer Open Automatically

I have a MacBook Pro. Since upgrading to Leopard, PSE 6 no longer opens the Pop-Up Palettes automatically. When using Tiger, if I clicked on the lower-right corner of a Tool (like Blur) then a Pop-Up Palette would appear showing the other related Tools (Sharpen, Smudge). But when I upgraded to Leopard, that stopped working and now I must hold down the Ctrl key and click on the Tool in order to see the other related Tools.
I deleted my preferences and repaired the Disk permissions. I even reinstalled PSE 6. If any one has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

And I repaired permissions and tried again. It didn't make a difference.
Previously I was using a Powerbook with Tiger installed, and PSE 6 worked correctly. I bought a MacBook Pro with Leopard installed and installed PSE on the new laptop. The pop-up palettes haven't worked properly since then. But I haven't noticed trouble with any other options.

In adobe pse and nikon nx2, I open 2 images, select in 1 a head, copy, open image 2 and paste, than only the outlines of the selection apears but no head. who knows this problem?

I am sorry to have to point out to you that you have changed SpryMenuBasicSkin.css so much that it is impossible to render any assistance.
To start with, the menubar has an ID of MenuBar, yet in the CSS I only see this referenced as a CLASS as in

Since updating to Firefox 4.0.1 I can no longer open and populate fields in eith Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Readers wher I used to be able to.

In earlier version of Firefox I could open a PDF file from my Insurance provider with some of the fields automatically populated. Since upgrading to Firefox 4 I can no longer open PDF file from this site.
I have upgraded to Adobe Acrobat X and also Adobe Reader X in an effort to resolve this issue with no luck.
I have changed the settings under tools/options to use Adobe in Firefox as well as use Adobe as default with no difference.
I seem to recall a note of some sort when upgrading Firefox to 4.0 about compatibility with Adobe but cannot recall the details.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

There you'll find each of the incremental updates to Acrobat 10.
They must be installed one at a time in sequence.

Now, if after attempted updates fail then you'll need to speak with your IT Department.
You need your install of Acrobat 10 updated to dot version 10.1.7.

To configure the browser to use Acrobat or Adobe Reader to open PDF files:
1. Quit Internet Explorer(any other browser)
2. Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
3. Choose Edit > Preferences.
4. Select Internet in the list on the left.
5. Deselect(Uncheck) Display PDF in Browser, and click OK.
6. Restart Internet Explorer

Not understood, Intel make the processor that runs your Mac, there is no other 'side' to your Mac.

Looking for help - PSE 5 catalog will no longer open

I have PSE 5 on a Windows XP system. For some reason I can no longer open the catalog - I receive a pop window that states "The action you have requested could not be completed because the application is not responding. It may still be loading or waiting for a response from you." I rebooted the computer but it didn't help. Any suggestions?

Also, if I try to open the catalog from the Editor I get a pop labeled "PhtoshopElementsOrganizer - Unable to Locate Component" followed by the message: "This application has failed to start because DetectionUtils.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I have tried reinstalling PSE 5 yet for fear that I might mess up my catalog.

When you re-installed Photoshop, you also re-installed the version of Camera Raw which shipped with Photoshop - in other words you reverted to an older version of Camera Raw which does not support the D5100.

The D5100 was first supported in Camera Raw version 6.4.
In Photoshop, click Help > Updates to update Camera Raw.

It's important to understand that when this sort of thing happens files aren't "converted" at all.
In Windows and Mac, there is just one app (program) that it run when you double click a type of file. There's an app for Word documents (Microsoft Word). There's an app for PDF files. So all that happened is that you installed an app which can open PDF files.
Nothing changed in the files. You can still open them the traditional way if you forget double click - start the app, use Open from the File menu.

Adobe Elements 8 No longer Opening

I purchased a box set of Adobe Elements 8. I use it on my stand-alone computer. It connects to an online account/gallery where I save my personal images. However, Adobe Elements 8 no longer opens on my computer. Did Adobe somehow cause my Adobe Elements 8 to stop opening when it instituted its new Adobe Cloud products?

I have Adobe PSE 11 & Nikon D600. When I try to open a .nef (RAW) = Fail

I have Adobe PSE 11 and use a Nikon D600. When I try to open a .nef (RAW) photo, PSE says "... file from a camera model which is not supported by installed version of Camera Raw..." Downloaded patches 7.2, 7.3 & 7.4. Still no success opening .nef photos. What can I do next?

I have not own Nikon gear since film drifted away. I've read where using older versions of Nikon software to transfer photo files to your computer can "corrupt" them in a way that makes them "foreign" to Adobe products.
Memory serves that the solution is to update the Nikon software or transfer the files directly.
Nikon users may have much better adivice!

After downloading the latest upgrade of Adobe, I can no longer open files that are PDF's. Why do I keep getting error 0.104?

Since October 23rd, after downloading the recent upgrade for Adobe Reader, I continually keep getting error code 0.104 whenever I try to open a file that is in PDF format. No matter if I'm using Internet Explorer or Chrome. Huge waste of time! I have restored the Adobe to previous upgrade of September 2014, which was working fine. I have restarted the computer several times since I restored to prior version with no luck at all.
