Adobe PSE 8 with Bamboo Captures Won't install

I just bought 2 Bamboo Captures by Wacom and went to install one on my Mac OS X 8. For some reason I can't download the Adobe Photoshop Elements 8. It stops at the installing page - nothing happens. It installed perfectly on my MacBook Pro & our other iMac OS X 8. I even tried using the disk that came with the other Bamboo and it still won't install. I used MacKeeper to clean things up and then restarted the computer and still it won't install. I am an absolute layman when it comes to computers. Help!

Hi,
I can't be certain, but I can't see any reason why PSE 8 shouldn't be compatible with Windows 8.1.
Do you get any error message when trying to install PSE 8?
If you were to upgrade to PSE 13, there should not be any problem with your existing files. It would be best to use the organizer's Backup Catalog to hard drive on the old computer and then the restore catalog on the new computer. That way both the catalog information and the photos will be transferred across.
I suggest that you make sure that there are no missing files in your current system.

I can't watch YouTube videos on my brand new MacBook Pro with Lion. It says I need to download Adobe Flash Player but that won't install. Help!

The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
    What can I do ..??

  • Just bought PSE 12 and it won't install help?

Just bought PSE 12 and it will not install on my Windows 7 computer.  I keep getting errors.  Been on hold for 36 minutes with Adobe chat and still waiting to talk to someone.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need to state exactly what error messages you are getting and if possible post screenshots of these errors.

  • Adobe PDF Writer (v5.0) won't install; can't find LPT1 port

I've searched extensively for an answer on this question, and the most common answer is no answer or use a newer PDF creator.
The department I support uses database software that was never programmed to support any PDF creator past PDF Writer, so all users of this software have Acrobat Professional 5.0.5 installed using the "Custom" option to include the PDF Writer.
All workstations run XP, sp3.  I have never seen this problem on any other machine.  I have installed version 5 on other machines with newer installations of Acrobat (7,8, and 9) with no functionality issues.  The machine that won't install the PDF Writer had V8 installed.  I have removed Acrobat V8 to try to get the V5 installation to run.  I have tried running the V5 installation first without PDF Writer, and then adding in the PDF Writer.
In all cases, as soon as you click "Install" after checking "PDF Writer", the error "Acrobat PDF Writer requires a LPT1: printer port.  Setup could not find this required port.  The PDF Writer component will not be installed.  To install PDF Writer, add a LPT1: port and run setup again" always appears, and the installation tries to continue without the PDF Writer.
This computer has a fully-functioning LPT1 port (as well as LPT2 and LPT3) which is not in use by any other printers (according to the printer properties display).  XP shows the port under Device Manager as functioning properly, although I have both disabled/re-enabled the port, as well as uninstalling it and rebooting, at which point it re-installs properly.
All high-priority Windows XP updates are current and again, on similar machines, similarly imaged, I have never had this problem using the same media.  I have tried installing a printer on this port and adding drivers.  All machine users have Administrator privileges (unfortunately)
Due to the large quantity of data and software on this user's machine (and the fact that otherwise it runs great), I would REALLY rather not re-image the machine.
Any help or ideas will be GREATLY appreciated.

Hey, good idea, and I hadn't done it, but nothing is remaining from any previous Acrobat installs (according to the Cleanup Utility).  I do pretty good registry cleanup on these machines as I work on them for other reasons/updates.
    Other ideas?

  • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional won't install with new serial number from Adobe

Having replaced my PC I tried to install Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional but I was unable to activate registration as it had already been registered and is an 'old product'.  I have contacted the Adobe on-line advisor and was given a new serial number and a file to download.
The set-up wizard will not complete even though I type in the new number accurately and each time I've had to abort installation as it says it can't be verified.
Does anyone have any suggestions or explain what I might be doing wrong please?
    Thank you

    Thank you Bill for replying.
I have been able to install the disc but it tells me that I have to activate it with a time limit of 30 days and counting.  Activation fails each time I've tried.  As I'm nearing the end of the time limit I decided to contact Adobe for advice.  They gave me a download package and new serial number but it's only suitable for OS XP and Windows 2000 so I'm unable to download it.  I was told by the advisor if I still had problems to use the forum as a means of support so that's why I'm talking to people here.
I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobate Pro 7, so I might try reinstalling the disc to see if it gives me another 30 days grace, that, at least, would be a way around it.
I'll now follow the link you've given me.   Though I do suspect I'm in a bit of a cul de sac.

  • I have downloaded CS5 with the help of  Adobe support, and now it won't install

I am using Windows 8, I upgrade last night and it ruined my Photoshop, I was using Windows 7. Now, I am lost, I downloaded the two files and now the setup exe wont initialize
I feel ripped off by Microsoft, All I wanted to do was install Acrobat 10, which I just bought

Moving this discussion to the Downloading, Installing, Setting Up forum.
JohnTurn are you attempting to install Acrobat 10 Professional or Standard?  Also what version of Photoshop do you need to reinstall?  You can download the installation files for most Adobe Creative applications at Other downloads.

  • PSE 8 for Mac won't Install; running Snow Leopard 10.6.2

    Hi,
When PSE 8 was released for the Mac, I bought a copy from Amazon.  I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on two 24" iMacs and one MBP 15.3.  The Adobe installer would hang about three quarters through the installation.  I'm running PSE 6 for Mac without a problem.  I returned the software to Amazon without a problem.
A month or two later I downloaded a trial version from Adobe's web site thinking perhaps the DVD I had gotten from Amazon was possibly defective.  Nope.  Same problem trying the trial version.  It just hung about three quarters through the install on all three machines.
I'm running Photoshop Extended CS 3 with Snow Leopard and have no problems.
    What gives?
    Thanks,
    Linnie K

    Hi,
I wouldn't know.  The first copy I bought from Amazon and returned.  The second one was downloaded from your web site as a trial and I removed all the bits and pieces after killing an hour with the installer.  I didn't think I could download the trial version a second time.
I'm using a Mac with Snow Leopard 10.6.2.  My Photoshop Extended CSS3 and PSE 6 work just fine.  I'm afraid that if I deleted all you had suggested, I would have trouble reinstalling the two apps I just mentioned.  From what I've read on various forums,, Mac users (not all) are still having difficulty installing PSE 8.
BTW, this is the only app I've had any problem installing on my system.  I deliberately waited for v. 10.6.2 to install the newer OS as there were earlier incompatibilities.
    Thanks,
    Linnie

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.3.1 won't install on Windows 7. Error 1303 on ActiveX directory.

    Hi,
I have tried searching in all the windows and adobe forums but couldn't find the answer to this problem. I had Adobe Acrobat running. I updated, not sure if it was 9.0 or 9.3 but it didn't install properly and it messed up my adobe installation. I removed all Adobe programs (Acrobat, Flash, Air) but the Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ActiveX directory is not accessble. The installer fails with Error 1303 saying it doesn't have permission to access this directory. I have tried Editing the Advanced properties to change the ownership but the owner is not visible and unchangeable. Please help me fix this. Due to this Acrobat cannot be installed and without PDF, its impossible to use so many programs.
I was running the installer as Administrator.
    Thanks.
    P.S.
Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.

Thanks. I was logged in as Admin. What helped was the age old proven solution for any Windows problem, a reboot. For some reason, some process was probably holding on to the lock. Some uninstaller forgot to ask me to reboot, or perhaps I forgot to reboot. Oh well.

  • Adobe In Design CC 2014 won't install on a PC but it will on another.

I have a user who I'm trying to deploy a new laptop for.  I am installing Adobe In Design CC 2014 but early in the install it just suddenly quits.  I can install the software on my own PC with no problem both are running Windows 7 64 bit.  Any ideas?

Most likely some sort of permissions problem.

  • PSE 8.0 Mac Won't Install

    Running Snow Leopard on iMac.
I insert the disk and it shows up in finder but the install routine never runs. I have tried this several times and have even rebooted the machine.
AFAICT there is no way to run the installer manuyally. How do I get this installed?

    Hi,
I am still trying to understand your issue. When we double click on Setup.app, nothing happens at all?? Does any icon of PSE Setup icon appears in the dock say even for a second?
Can you please attach the log files named "...Photoshop Elements 8.0..." which can be found at the below location in this thread:
    <Macintosh HD>\Library\Logs\Adobe\Installers\
How many other Adobe products are istalled on your machine? Did you upgraded the OS recently from Tiger/Leopard to Snow Leopard?
Sorry for asking too many questions but the problem seems weird and I am just trying to understand it.

  • Adobe Reader for Palm OS won't install

When i try to install Adobe Reader for Palm OS from the disk that came with my new Palm T/X (or from the Adobe website) it acts like it's doing something but never actually installs. Help!!!

The Adobe Reader 305 for PalmOS setup file contains an older version of InstallShield's SETUP.EXE. For several reasons this setup version might hang without showing any GUI:
    a. A running background application prevents the setup from continuing.
    b. The TEMP-folder contains a lot of files and/or subdirectories.
ad a: Use the Windows Task manager to check how many background programs are running. You can temporarily prevent most startup-programs from running by holding both shift-keys immediately after logging into Windows XP.
ad b: Delete the files and folders from your TEMP folder(s). To locate your personal TEMP folder: Use the windows start menu -> click on: Run.. -> Enter: %TEMP% and press enter. Also check the %WINDIR%\TEMP folder. Some files might be in use during deletion, this can be ignored safely.
Reboot the computer after cleaning the TEMP folder(s), then try again running the setup program.

  • Adobe Flash Player 9 UB won't install

I have a 1st generation MBP and I wanted to view the MLB Draft on MLB.com and it said I needed to update my flash player. Well, I tried to and the installer would go fine all the way up to the point where it says 4 items left to install and gets stuck searching the mac hard drive and never goes past this. I have tried it numerous times and get the same result. I went to the adobe website and downloaded it and tried to install it and I get the same problem. Does anyone else have trouble installing the new universal binary adobe flash player 9 on their MBP?

I am sorry that I did not make clear my major issue. I do not believe that any flash player was installed, but I can play flash video... I do have flip 4 mac and qt pro as well as the old wmp. Browser wise I only have safari and firefox. none of the applicaiton were open durring the "installation" and I tried to repaired the permissions and tried to do the install again. Still no luck. I left the installation screen up all night and when I checked it this morning, I still am stuck on the installation screen saying Items left to install: 4 Searching the MAC harddrive.
Should I contact adobe about this issue? I do not know why flash will not install. I have other adobe products already installed like photoshop and acrobat and indesign....
