Adobe reader 10.1.1 not opening

I can't open a pdf file. I have twice repaired the program, restored my computer to a restore point of 1 month ago, but no luck. I have Vista, 64 bit, and recently installed Iolo system Mechanic security software. Any ideas?
Thanks,
richn13

When I try to open an email attachment, it seems like it starts to open with the starting circle showing, but then nothing happens for a period of time, and then it opens 15 minutes lter.
With an email coupon in pdf form, when I click on the coupon link in the email (not an attachment), it does not open at all and I get an error message: "There is a problem with Adobe/Acrobat Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again.(103:103)"
Thanks for reply.

    What is your operating system?
You don't need Acrobat to view PDF files; can you post a screenshot of that message?
Also, is this a local or online PDF?  If online, in what browser?

  • Even I have the latest version of Adober reader I still can not open pdf file on safari

Even I have the latest version of Adober reader I still can not open pdf file on safari.

Save the file locally, open the Reader application and try to open it from there. If it still doesn't work provide the full details of your OS, Reader version and the exact error message you're getting when you try to open the file.

  • Adobe Reader 9.3 will not open in Adobe Acrobat Pro 8

We are currently running Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional Version 8.2.0 with Acrobat Distiller 8 and Adobe Live Cycle Disigner 8.0. I have downloaded Adobe Reader 9.3, but it still will not open 9.3 documents it defaults to the Reader 8 and I get an error message.
How do I change the default Reader to 9.3 or do I have to buy the upgrade for Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 in order to be able to open and use on-line forms that require 9.3?
    Help!

Well that is my question, we have a fully authorized and purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro
    8.
When I do an update for Adobe Acrobat 8, it does not install the updated Reader 9.3.
In order to update the Reader to 9.3, I have to install it seperately. It does that, but when I open 9.3 it defaults to the 8 Reader.
So I guess the answer to my question is that I have to update to the 9.3 full version of Adobe Acrobat Pro, what a rip by Adobe just so we can use the newest "free" Reader.

  • Adobe Reader 9.1 will not open in OSX 10.5.7

Since loading the latest OSX 10.5.7 update I have not been able to open Adobe Reader. I have removed the version that I had (9.1) and downloaded a fresh copy but it makes no difference - Reader will not open at all. I have tried the reset - again it does not open. Any ideas?

Try removing your cache. You can use Onyx or Applejack to do this.

  • Mac-with Leopard-Adobe Reader 8.1 will not open previously scanned files

Have a Intel Mac and use Leopard.
When using Reader 7.1 previously scanned files (eg. recipes) always opened. Upgraded to Adobe Reader 8.1
Now, on a number of them, the icon is black, and when I attempt to open them I get the
following message..for say a scanned recipe..
"Adobe Reader could not open "Won Ton Soup" because it is either not a supported file or
because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and
    wasn't correctly decoded)."
Tried latest version of Adobe Reader..no luck.
    Suggestions ? Thanks.

    >previously scanned files (eg. recipes) always opened.
    Were they actually PDF's?
If not, it could be that you had Acrobat instead of Reader before.

  • Adobe Reader XI freezing and not opening docs

I have downloaded Adobe Reader XI on my PC and now my docs won't open. It freezes in IE and I have to use task manager to end task.
No problems before XI version.  I uninstalled and reinstalled, same issues.
    Thanks in advance!

Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Adobe Reader nor Eula will not open

I have serached through the threads, but there was no way that I could make Adobe Reader XI nor any other version work again on my computer (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1) I have tried changing the registry entry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\Privileged), reinstalling, trying to run directly the EULA.exe, but there is no way to make Adobe Reader working again.
    Any ideas?

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Adobe Reader 1.5LE will not open after Firmware Update

Is anyone aware of a solution to this problem? I updated my N95 to the most recent version and found the Nokia Reader software to be unusable (the application itself will not even open). Is there a link from which the software may be downloaded and re-installed? A search of Google, Nokia and Adobe has proven fruitless. Any help would be much appreciated.

i guess problem caused of a 3rd party application you installed to your phone. If it goes fine with hard reset you shall be carefull when you install new applications to your phone.

Have recently updated Adobe Reader and now unable to open downloaded documents - Message received is could not open 'file name.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). Obviously your download was not successful.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro do not open when printing a pdf document. Can anyone help?

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro do not open when printing a pdf document, instead I open it with Adobe Reader X to be able to print.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi Edna,
It sounds like Adobe Reader X is your default PDF file handler. Launch Adobe Reader X.  Choose Edit > Preferences > General.  Click the 'Select Default PDF Handler' button at the bottom and choose Acrobat 9 from the drop-down menu.  Click Apply, then OK.
Restart your computer.  Acrobat 9 should now be your default PDF file handler again.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro will not open in Windows 8

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro will not open in Windows 8. It worked until 2 days ago, now it won't do anything. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it with no luck.

32 or 64 bit system? Have you updated Acrobat? Was anything else installed between when it worked and did not? When you say AA 9 will not open, does that mean when you have selected it in the programs list (OK, that is the metro interface if you have not installed the desktop options -- 3rd party)?
