Adobe Reader 10.1.2 crashes when printing, worked OK w/ 10.1.1

On a Windows 7 (32-bit?  Build 6.1.7601) machine with all updates installed, Adobe Reader crashes on print with version 10.1.2.  This problem did not occur with version 10.1.1.  I'm including a screenshot here, but to help those searching: APPCRASH AcroRd32.exe, Exception code: c0000005.
Note that this post seems to be describing the same problem, but has fewer dtails: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4135936#4135936

Windows server 2003 R2 64-bit SP2
Adobe 10.1.1 or Adobe10.1.2
None of the workarounds work for us.
I have reinstalled Adobe Reader multiple time and applied the 92870 patch, tried all the work abounds with absolutely no effect.
I can’t even get into the preferences to disable protected mode and Adobe crashes as soon as you press the print button. I have tried various local printers as default or network printers as default with no effect, tried assigning share names to all printers and disconnecting all printers with no effect.
This is a very aggravating issues effecting 12,000+ users in my organization.
Please develop a fix sooner than later, one that actually works and one that doesn’t not require 12,000+ clients to make a local change.
Thanks.

  • Linux Adobe Reader 9.5.1 crashes when printing

    I try printing a document with acroread 9.5.1 (the latest Linux version available) but the program crashes immediately.
    Using -toPostScript from the commandline gives a "Segmentation fault"
    The document uses complicated transparency effects.  It displays nicely, also on other PDF viewers.
    I hear that printing problems were fixed for 10.xyz versions.  Any chance of getting this fixed on Linux?

    Hi,
    the crash happens from the GUI too.
    acroread -toPostScript blur-crash.pdf
    I can' see how I can attach a file to this message.  You can download a PDF which does this here: http://heim.ifi.uio.no/martingi/blur-crash.pdf The problem occurs only with certain PDF documents.  The problem seems to have to do with that drop shadow.
    $ acroread -v
    9.5.1
    $ uname -a
    Linux martingi-l 3.0.0-17-generic-pae #30-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 8 17:53:35 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

    DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
    DISTRIB_RELEASE=11.10
    DISTRIB_CODENAME=oneiric
    DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 11.10"
    I've tried printing the document on a not entirely up-to-date version of Acrobat Reader on Windows, and that also crashed.  I have no idea what happens with the latest version.

    I have Windows 7 machine and when I work in Adobe Reader with 2 documents that can be filled in it crashes. Protection mode is disabled. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have also repaired the installation. These are offline local documents not online.

    ...apparently it is Adobe's Reader XI that is causing the problem even in other browsers even if they use a different .pdf reader code.
    That's an impossibility. Because Chrome and Firefox use their own proprietary PDF viewer which doesn't rely on ANY files from Adobe anywhere on your system, you can uninstall Reader from your computer entitrely and they'll still open PDFs. If either browser still crashes when saving, with Reader nonexistent on your system, you CANNOT blame the crash on software the ISN'T there to cause it. Don't know if you've tried that but it would settle the cause issue pretty quickly.
    Based on the rest of your post, it reads like you need to submit your feedback through the bug report/feature request channel and NOT in  a "user -to-user" forum where practically none of us are employees of Adobe (there are a few - but not here often), let alone developers.

  • Adobe reader 10.1.2 crashes when opening pdf

    I have a user with windows XP pro ,  Just recently she tries to open pdf's in outlook 2003 and it crashes. Did an uninstall of reader and re-installed and it worked fine for a couple days the it crashed again. I again un-installed and re-installed and that didn't work. When it does the error reporting it comes up with the windows error that there is a newer version and to go to the adobe web site to down load it. I have the newest vesion installed. Wonder if installing older version would work.
    Thanks
    Joel

    I am also experiencing the same problem using Outlook 6. I have also un-installed and re-installed adobe reader, which worked for a day but now it keeps hanging after about 10 seconds.
    This problem has only occurred since March 2012. Any help or solutions would be welcome.
    Cheers

  • Adobe Reader minimizes to system tray when printing as an attachment in Outlook

    I have a user that is running Adobe Reader v10.1.2, and MS Outlook v12.0.6668.5000 (2007).  Every time that she opens a PDF attachment in email and prints it, it minimizes to the system tray.  if she saves it to the desktop and prints, it doesn't minimize.
    I have deleted everything in her OLK folders, tried printing while in Cached Exchange Mode, and with it turned off.  the problem persists.
    Please advise.  Thanks.

    Thank you for replying.
    What is happening is the user receives a PDF attachment in an Outlook email.  She opens the PDF to view (default program for opening PDFs on her computer is Adobe Reader), then clicks the print button in Adobe.  The document prints, but it immediately minimizes to her taskbar and remains minimized unless she clicks on the icon to maximize it again.  if the same PDF is saved to her desktop, opened, and printed, it does not minimize.  We can create this issue at any time on her machine.
    I have focused on Outlook since it appears to only happen from this program.  i have deleted temporary files from her OLK folders, tested with Cached Exchange Mode turned off, and ran MS Office Diagnostics (no errors).  I am uncertain where to troubleshoot next, short of deleting her profile on the computer and letting it rebuild.

  • Adobe reader 8.1.4 crashes when trying to open a pdf link

    Good morning,
    We have an issue with our users. When they try to open a URL pointing to a PDF, Reader 8 crashes after trying to open the link. If I log on as an admin to the machine, the same link opens up fine. There seems to be an issue with the group policy restrictions being applied to the teachers. I look thru our group policies and could not find anything that would stop the normal behavior of Adobe 8 and IE 8 from occurring. Any assistance is appreciated.
    So long,
    Martin Reyes

    Someone may give you and answer here, but you might have more luck in the Reader forum - this is not that forum. It really sounds like a Windows issue as you suggest, but I will let others address this.

  • When Firefox last automatically updated, it suggested that Adobe reader needed updating, now, with Adobe Reader 8, I can no longer print from the internet, only to file. Help please.

    When Mozilla Firefox last automatically updated, it suggested that Adobe Reader needed updating. After updating to Adobe Reader 8, I can no longer print from the internet, only to a file. I know the printer and its interface must be OK because Word prints normally.

    Problem solved, it was my oversight, I had not removed the check from the Print to File box in the print set up.

  • Bad crash when printing to pdf in Morningstar software - is it a 64 bit problem?

    Had bad crash when printing to pdf in Morningstar Principia Pro software - is it a 64 bit compatability problem? All other software I have can print
    to Acrobat pdf, but in Morningstar the Window 7 PC freezes and not even Task manager can
    unfreeze the computer. Acrobat worked fine in my old XP 32 bit PC when printing from Morningstar. Recently a webinar using
    an Adobe webinar software I was told I must only use a 32 bit browser, so I suspect Acrobat is incompaitble with my new 64 bit PC. Work around solution is to print to Microsoft XPS and then convert to Acrobat but I want to use Acrobat only! Is there a patch for people using 64 bit PCs?
    Can someone at Adobe respond to me, please? I have used Acrobat for over 10 years and am very loyal.

    Michael: I have tested other programs ability to print to Acrobat and also tested ability for other programs to
    export to Excel or Word. The only crash is when printing an Acrobat pdf from Morningstar Principia Pro I get a bad crash. The work around is to print to XPS and then convert the XPS file to Acrobat pdf. To get out of the crash which can't be fixed by Windows Task Manager shut down, is to open the printer file and tell the printer to delete the pending print job.
    I'm using latest Version 9.3.4 Standard Acrobat; Win 7 Pro 64 bit, 10 g of RAM, HPE 390t standalone PC, no networking.

  • Adobe Standard 9.1.0 crashes when attempting create .pdf from scanner

    Adobe Standard 9.1.0 crashes when attempting "create .pdf from scanner" from a Kyocera Mita KM-2550 using the twain driver. The error encountered is 0xc0000005 at address 0x0000000002d78e70. I have downloaded and installed the latest updates. This is happening on two new PCs with the same configuration. Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

    Spent quite a while on this one..  My problem was related to twain drivers which reside in c:\windows\twain_32.  I'm running windows 7 64-bit.  First it's usually possible to scan in windows 7 maybe vista and from adobe without even using twain (using WIA).  So try renaming the twain_32 folder to _twain_32 and see what happens...  If that stops the crashing look at the contents of the twain folder.  I had a Dell folder for some printer I wasn't even using.  That was causing the crash. I removed the dell folder and renamed the twain folder back to twain_32.  Now everything works as designed.

  • HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OS 10.6.8 PRINTING WITH XEROX PHASER.  MacPro crashes when printer warms up. Does anyone have a solution? 6360 DN

    I've been using Macs since 1984.  Have been using Xerox Phaser printers for ten years.  But with the last update to OS 10.6.8 last summer, I've had problems with crashing when printing.  My MacPro crashes when printing via ethernet prot with Xerox Phaser 6360DN or when the printer warms up.  Worked fine with OS 10.6.7.  Internet postings suggest this is a common problem for all Mac users with Xerox Phaser printers.  Apple put out an update to 10.6.8 to address the problem.  I downloaded it but it did not solve the problem.  Have tried all the Xerox drivers along with Apple drivers.  Can't solve the problem.  Xerox says it's an Apple problem.  Does anyone KNOW how to solve the problem?

    sorry, just saw that i was accidently in the snow leopard section....i reposted under the correct section. here's the link.
