Adobe Reader 11.0.01 is asking me to install 9.5.2 update

I have Adobe Reader 11.0.01 installed on my computer.
However, it is telling me that I have an update for Version 9.5.2. What could be causing this?
Thanks!

First, this is the Acrobat forum, not the Reader forum. You might find better info on the Reader forum. It looks like you never uninstalled AR9. Go back and be sure AR9 is uninstalled and its folder totally removed. You might want to just uninstall AR XI also and then reinstall later. For Acrobat there is a clean up tool after it has been uninstalled (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html) that may be useful -- I don't know. There may be a similar tool for the Reader.

I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader (11.0.07) and installed it. Message said install successful. But APEX learning software does a check to see if my system has Adobe Reader and it says I still need to install it. What's up? This has happened to me numerous times throughout the years. I need to get to the bottom of this problem. Thanks for your help.

You still don't give us the message you are receiving.  My guess: you are trying to open a PDF in a browser that uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • Lost "Edit Options" button used when downloading an update (ex Adobe reader) that allows you to click allow in order to receive the update. Can someone tell me how to get it back? Please?

I t will tell you to look for a yellow bar at the top usually under the tool bar and it will ask you to "Edit Options" when you do, it will ask you if you allow the download/update or not.
My problem is, I am not getting this yellow bar anymore that gives me the "Edit Options" button so therefore, I do not think I am getting any updates!

You didn't lose that button. It is Adobe that is lost and haven't update their instructions for a long time
The instructions on the Adobe site are outdated and do no longer apply to current Firefox versions and you can ignore those instructions and save the Adobe installer to your desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that file.<br />

  • Adobe Reader 11 stopped working and now will not install

For some reason my Adobe Reader 11 stopped working today when I tried to use it so I figured I would try to re-install it. Well, re-installing it helped none. The same error keeps re-occuring. Here is a screenshot of the error message I keep getting:

    Any solutions?
    Thanks!

You can try using this tool to remove all traces of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you may download the offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • I think I have a fake adobe reader. A real 9.5.5 is installed and a Adobe 9.5.5 w/a statement This update cannot be uninstalled.  No Size of program is listed

HHow do I remove a fake Adobe program?  It says adobe Reader -CPSD_83708  I am in the control panel Add/Remove

CPSID_83708 was an earlier Security fix for Adobe Reader; I don't think you can or need to remove it.  I think it will be removed if you uninstall Reader 9.x and install a more recent Reader version like X or XI.

  • Adobe Reader 9.4 for Mac OS will not install

I am running a Power Mac G5.  Each time I try to install Acrobat Reader 9.4, I get an error message, #17535.  It states that an error occured in the Stuff Operation.  Could it be possible that the Stuffit program I am using is too old a version? I have Stuffit Expander ver. 10.0

In commandline, the command "installer -pkg install.pkg -target /" does work in installing pkg released by Apple. But it does not work in installing pkg released by adobe, such as "Adobe Reader XXX.pkg".

  • "Adobe reader server error 16297.333.2486.403" while installing

I am unable to download Adobe Reader.  Nothing ever downloads from the download manager and I get this error:
    Adobe Reader
    server error 16297.333.2486.403
    Any thoughts?

Don't use the download manager.  Give us the version you want and the platform, and someone will give you a direct download link.
Or download your installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • I have Adobe Reader on the ipad and it is continuously installing an update I cannot stop this

I have Adobe Reader on the ipad It is continually

On your iPad Home screen, you can delete the Adobe Reader icon. Press and hold down on the icon until you see the icons "shaking", then press the X on the Reader icon to delete it.
(If you wish, you could reinstall the app from the App Store.)

  • Google search box in mid screen accepts text but is inactive. Adobe reader does not now function with Firefox. Both are new since update. Thanks

    1. The google search box in the middle of the FF page accepts text but is not active since my update. The search bar box works.
    2. Adobe reader does not seem to work with the new update. eg. Epost suggested I update Reader which I did but it still doesn't work. New since update. It works with Safari which I dislike or i would simply change.
    Thanks
    David

Does that box still Shows the Google text?
Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
Current Firefox versions use the default search engine (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename) to set the search engine that is used on the about:home page.
Check the <b>browser.search.defaultenginename</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page and make sure that it is set to the default value Google.
    *browser.search.defaultenginename
You can check if you still have the XML files of the default search engines including Google in the searchplugins folder in Firefox program folder.
If not then you need to reinstall Firefox.

  • Downloading Adobe Reader for OS 10.4.11 will not install

In the options to selecting OS version I selected OS10.4.11-10.5, but when I try to launch the installer, I receive a message that OS 10.5 is required. I tried an earlier version download option and I receive the same message...Any thoughts (other than 10.5) I can look at? My computer OS is up to date according to Apple - I use a Powerbook G4
    Thank you,

Let me know your OS. Reader X does not work on OS 10.4.11 even if it is Intel Processor.
    Requirements for Reader X are:
    1) OS 10.5.x or OS 10.6.x (Will not work on OS 10.4 series)
    2) Intel Processors (will not work on powerPC based architecture)
Does your system qualify these two requirements? If not I suggest you download Reader 9.4.1 to work with pdf files.
    Thanks,
    Karan
