I am trying to fill out tax forms.
Reader crashes when I attempt to type.
Reader crashes when I attempt to change preferences
The forms do not have a purple or yellow bar but a green one indicating that I can type in highlighted fields
Please advise about how to correct this issue

Hi arlenejl,
Launch Reader and go to Edit> Preferences> Security (Enhanced) and uncheck 'Enable Enhanced Security' option.
Now, try again and let me know.

    It is the latest update.

You posted in the forum for iPad and iPhone (different app). I've moved your question to the Reader forum for desktop/laptop computers.

    What kind of video files?

  • Why can't I read iBooks on my Mac?

The user unfriendly way of selling ebooks is very disapointing!
I can not read them on my computer, only on my iPad.
I can not lend them to my daughter, as I would do with any other form of book.
no way I am going to buy anymore books this way!

Because Apple has chosen not to make iBooks readable on the Mac.  As fellow users, we cannot speculate on why they have decided this.
However, you can still read books on your Mac.  The best approach is to download the Kindle app for Mac.  Then you can buy electronic books from Amazon, and read them on your Mac (or iPad).

  • Problem opening Form based PDF via Safari browser with Adobe Reader 9.3 on MAC

    Hi,
I'm mentioning below the problem that we are facing when we open a form based PDF created using a licensed version of Adobe Livecycle Designer ES (Version 8.2.1.4029.1.523496) on a MAC machine through a Safari Browser.
We tested this PDF form on a windows machine and the PDF opens in an IE browser via the latest Adobe reader 9.3 without any problem. I then received complaints by our clients that they were unable to open the same PDF on their Safari browser on a MAC machine, I tried to resolve the problem by downloading the latest version of Adobe Reader 9.3 for MAC but noticed that the Safari browser window would just keep refreshing the page without displaying the PDF at all. I then uninstalled the Adobe Reader 9.3 version and downloaded and installed an older version i.e., Abobe Reader 8.2 version for MAC and noticed that the PDF document successfully opened in the Safari browser. My question is why does a form based PDF work with an older version of Adobe Reader for MAC and not with the latest version? Our clients are not comfortable with the fact that we are refraining them from upgrading to the latest version of Adobe Reader for MAC and that they would have to downgrade their existing Adobe Reader 9.3 to a lower version Adobe Reader 8.2 in order for the PDF forms to work when it should be the other way around.
Is there any fix or a patch that is currently being worked on that would resolve this issue in the latest Adobe Reader for MAC? If yes then when would it be ready? This issue is quite critical for our business and would appreciate it if this would be looked into with high priority.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sheikh Huraiz Ahmed.

That suggestion makes sense and likely works, but only if the user is on a machine that will allow them to use Reader. I'm sending this out to a lot of teachers, who are using machines either at school, or are school-issued machines, and they don't have the admin privileges to install software-- even Reader.
so my problem is, if they are stuck on a machine without Reader, and without the possibility of having Reader... it's just not going to work because Preview can't handle these functions.
And, since that is not an acceptable answer with what I'm trying to do... I will find another way to create/submit forms. I think there are some online possibilities I will have to make work.
    very, very disappointing and frustrating.

  • Problem with Adobe Reader 9.2 on Mac

I downloaded Adobe Reader 9.2 on my Mac OSX 10.5.8 with SAFARI 4.03.  I received a message indicating success.  However, when I try to download a pdf document from the web, the computer tries for several minutes then gives up.  I can read pdf files already on my computer, but I could do that previously before downloading Adobe Reader.  The SAFARI pdf reader is not working for downloading pdf files from the web either.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

  • 2010 Tax Forms print errors in Reader

All of the tax forms I've downloaded from the IRS web site print with errors --- lines, garbage characters, etc when printing from Reader (latest version) on OSX.  If I open the .pdf files with Photoshop and print them, they come out just fine.  Printing from Preview also gives errors.
Other .pdf files print OK from Reader and Preview.
    Anyone else notice this?

The problem has not been answered, but I have transferred data that changed since 20th March to the backup drive, loaded that onto the hard drive and then made a new backup. Printing now works, but if anyone has any idea what might have got messed up let me know.

Version 4 is oh so old.
The IRS and many other providers of forms are using products like LIveCycle which require at least version 7.05.
Saving, Filling, and Printing PDF Files
We use Adobe Acrobat PDF files as a means to electronically provide forms & publications. You will need to have the Adobe Reader software installed to access them (available FREE from the Adobe Reader download page on Adobe's Web site). We recommend using the most recent version of Adobe Reader.

You don't need Adobe AIR to download or install Adobe Reader.
Try downloading the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Adobe Reader XI did not save the form data (unlike previous versions). Any way to recover file?

Adobe Reader XI did not save the form data (unlike previous versions). Any way to recover filled form with data from temp locations?
I was not aware that ctrl+s no longer works in reader and closed the PDF after savign it(with ctrl+s). However ,the data is lost and there seems to be no way to recover it.
I cannot find any temp files created by Reader on my system.
Also to my surprize(and shock), the reader did not even show a warning before closing the PDF. Does anybody know if/where can I recover the file from?
Guys, Please reply ASAP if you have got any sort of solution!

    Hi Pat,
Are you using Adobe Reader XI? And not Acrobat. It does not ask me to save the form if there are unsaved changes.
I have used previous versions of reader for saving this form data and it did allow me to save it with ctrl+s. And those versions did prompt me to save the changes before closing.
I guess I should not have updated the reader.

Thanks for the prompt reply. The interesting thing is that my Macbook Pro was upgraded today to Yosemite and I still have the spinning wheel on the start up screen before the login page comes up.

    Hi renmusn79002737,
Could you please try installing Reader again from the below mentioned link:
    http://get.adobe.com/reader
Ensure that you are logged in as administrator and anti-virus is disabled as that might interrupt downloading.
Try again and then let me know.
